A couple of important facts: 1) Z6 III applies no noise reduction in RAW, and applies FAR less in H.265, ProRES 2) A7S III applies heavy amount of noise reduction which you can't reduce 3) A7S III has a bigger pixel size, which helps with light gathering so greater low light performance 4) Nikon's NLOG has poor dynamic range, so an NLOG2 is very much needed which would dramatically improve the Z6 III performance.
Thanks for your tests, mate. I still can't make my mind between the the Z6III and the S5IIX specifically for narrative/doc fillmmaking use. What draws me into the Lumix is the better anamorphic support (in cam desqueeze & anamorphic IBIS, since I already have an anamorphic adapter) and video specific assist tools, better video DR and SSD Prores recording, but there is not much local market for Lumix in my country (I mean, available lenses, resale value, etc). What I like about Nikon is the better rolling shutter performance, 6k resolution, uncropped 120fps, internal RAW and Prores (although I'd like some smaller Prores flavors) and the much larger local market available for lenses and resale value. Decisions, decisions...
Go with lumix any day and nikon doesn’t beat video quality with s5iiX I personally own that cam and Sony a7siii too for serious filmmaking and documentary
The Nikon raw video can be easily converted to other log curves plus manual controlled noise reduction. Both of those give way better dynamic range that actually is about the same as the lumix. You can also get away with 1.5x anamorphic on a 16:9 ratio without much cropping. Using an external monitor will allow you to correctly monitor anamorphic. Plus you get internal raw and way better autofocus on the Nikon. Lastly, the Nikon can be adapted to Sony glass which opens up way more lens options for the Nikon.
is pulsing a thing for the z6iii. I noticed in your testing it was pulsing in the background, really looking at getting it but dont want AF and pulsing to be an issue. Thank you for your video you did awesome and it is obvious you put allot of work and effort into it!😊😊
Some excellent work here, thank you. The Sony makes an interesting benchmark, and shines a light on the beautiful colour output of the Nikon. I complete break down of the advantages and disadvantages of each format verses the others (on the Z6III only), would be very handy as I keep flip flopping between formats trying to decide. Storage and post processing demands being factors as well as output quality (obviously).
And one more suggestion pls I m planing for update currently I m using z6 planing for update Can I go for fx 3 with 35mm or Nikon Z6iii with 35, Nd 50 mm Both Ka budget same arha hai what u suggest? Of course Nikon. It’s a newer product which will get so many updates. It’s a proper hybrid camera unlike the fx3. Sony doesn’t have anything that matches the Nikon S primes. Shoot in NRaw Nlog (normal quality). It’s tremendous.
That’s the main annoyance with the A7S3, can’t turn off the NR unlike in FX6 unless you shoot in Prores. The A7S4 probably won’t be going semi stacked given the 2 stop DR loss

Nice video Frames - very well laid out and explained. Lots of great comparisons. Nikon is on the march right now. It will be interesting to see how Sony responds with an A7 V and possibly an A7 S4, and how Canon responds with an R6III - I expect some or all of those cameras within a year, and my guess is they will jump over the Z6III at least in some areas - which, I might add, is GREAT! We appear now to be back to the old days where Nikon releases a camera and it is the best and then Canon counters and jumps over and then Nikon responds etc. Throw Sony in the mix and there is nothing but better and better innovation by all the brands - which serves all of us consumers - drives prices down and gets us better and better cameras. For now, it is clear that the Z6III is the king of the Mid-Tier segment - probably will be for at least a year if the pattern of the past holds. Either way, it is way more camera than most people need so it will age very well - especially because it sports the Z mount, which is objectively (in every way) the best mount on the market! -PD
My estimate is that this Camera will be unmatched for 3 more years. Remember I said this. And let’s not forget how the R5II struggles to match the Z8/Z9 2.5 years after the Z9 launch. How? Well, a video soon. Jared Polin is back to his worst.
What do think of Tony & Chelsea video "Best Video Camera Battle: Nikon Z6 III vs Sony a7S III vs Canon R6 II Review". Spoiler Alert: Nikon lost. Nikon's dynamic range and low light was "shocking".
He doesn’t how to use the camera. He’s selling the R6II which uses Clog2 capping max dr to 12. I agree with Gerald’s finding on the R6II. This only hurts his credibility
