I see this a lot in ads on these dragon's den RUclips videos. It'll show some woman going "see how I started my own business by reselling products on amazon and how you can do it too". That's not a business. That's just helping someone else's business. It's barely a step up from pyramid schemes like Younique. It's preying on vulnerable women by telling them they're gonna be business owners and be independent when actually they're just employees, and in the case of the Pyramid schemes it destroys their lives and finances irrecoverably.

Having Intellectual property on this would seem to be almost impossible. It's a smartwatch with limitations. She keeps saying, it doesn't have access to the internet. However, you require an app on your phone which requires internet access to track everybody. I wouldn't trust this thing at all. Big companies already use your tracking data but at least they are big enough for people to monitor their wrong doing making them liable.

2 million for WHAT. It's a product that has been out there for a while. She owns no IP (intellectual property), owns no rights and all she is doing is operating an agency operation in selling the watches and thinks her company is worth 2 mill.
It has nothing to do with impressing them, it's to get more money. If your company is wrongly valued at 2 million instead of one, an investment of 100K will get a dragon only 5%, instead of 10% of your business.
This was just embarrassing. She's out of her damn mind if she thinks her Chinese supplier is going to just hand over the IP in the interest of "building a partnership". I've had a lot of experience with Chinese manufacturers and they don't mind lying to you and screwing you. It's just considered acceptable business ethics in China.
I think Peter was definitely right, that, currently, she really is little more than a sales rep. I think there's too many of these on the market, anyway, & unless you're massively improving on what's already available, there's no point in doing this.

I hate it when they value their company on sales they THINK they will make and it’s always companies with very little sales.
2 million for WHAT. It's a product that has been out there for a while. She owns no IP (intellectual property), owns no rights and all she is doing is operating an agency operation in selling the watches and thinks her company is worth 2 mill.
Entrepreneurs always seem to think that overvaluing their company is somehow going to impress the Dragons.
It has nothing to do with impressing them, it's to get more money. If your company is wrongly valued at 2 million instead of one, an investment of 100K will get a dragon only 5%, instead of 10% of your business.

This was just embarrassing. She's out of her damn mind if she thinks her Chinese supplier is going to just hand over the IP in the interest of "building a partnership". I've had a lot of experience with Chinese manufacturers and they don't mind lying to you and screwing you. It's just considered acceptable business ethics in China.

I think Peter was definitely right, that, currently, she really is little more than a sales rep. I think there's too many of these on the market, anyway, & unless you're massively improving on what's already available, there's no point in doing this.
There is absolutely a point and she is doing pretty well to this day. Selling gadgets from China is a great business.

Peter would be an absolutely incredible poker player. His poker faces are no joke. When I go back and rewatch a clip, I’m amazed at his ability to keep everyone guessing before he eviscerates someone’s business especially if it’s tech related. Years of being a top business negotiator I assume.
I dont like this product. Parents should commit to keeping a close eye on their children rather than handing responsibilty to a crappy piece of tech. Not cool.

Its clearly for kids who are old enough and want to do things by themself. Kids at 9 dont want parent's following them around, and want some form of inderpendance. What exactly is your soultion? you going to hide in some bushes and spy on them, because i doubt some random bloke spying on kids from the bushes is going to go down well with other parents.
