We have a ‘92 Honda Fourtrax 350 still going strong. It lives in an old shitty damp barn in the forest and only runs low speed short trips towing a utility trailer for our hunt camp. Recently replace the spark plug wiring because it was rotten, in doing so had to remove the fuel tank and was shocked it is still spotless inside, zero rust or crud. Great little bike with the only electronics being the starter
I grew up on these in Eastern Canada. My father had many three wheelers, was given my first bike, a yamaha 225dr when I was nine. 6 months ago I purchased an 850 outlander and let my 67 year old man take it for a rip, his face said it all haha
This guy did not grow up on these. I had a Honda 90, then a Yamaha 225 shaft drive with reverse shifter as a kid. I remember drifting every chance I could.
My father gifted me a brand new atc 185s in 1981. The next few years were the best years of my life. Now 40 something years later I found an old 185s basket case for $50 and brought it back to life. It's a fun machine but the lack of rear suspension limits how much I could push it with my 56 year old body.
You need to ride a model with full suspension like the Honda '83-'87 ATC 200X or the '85-'86 350X. Completely different machines. Both are sport models with kick starting and manual clutch. Smiles for weeks! Honesty it doesn't take alot of skill to ride a quad but once you master a trike you'll be the best rider on the trails. I have a '85 Honda ATC 200X that I bought new in December '84. 39 yrs old and as much fun today as when new. I just went through it last summer and replaced all the bearings, chain and sprockets and so on. Nice trike you have there and cool vid. #savethetrikes
Big reds in mint condition in Canada are going well in the range you paid and even more. looking almost 2500 or more for a big red with shaft drive and reverse.
I grew up on a Honda 250 Big Red, and the 200 Big Red is tough as nails. The cool thing about three wheelers is that they maneuver in tight places, easy to pull out when they get stuck and are easy to work on. It does take a little more skill to ride them, but once you get to hang of them, it makes you a better rider.
This vid brought back great memories for me . I had an 83 Big Red on our farm . I was a teenager back in those days and did a lot of stupid stuff on that bike . But never ever tipped it or had any accidents with it . Wish they still made them :)
I thinned out my herd of three wheelers down to six, three Hondas and three Yamahas. Next time could you show the manufacturers sticker on the front, thanks. That should have neutral at the top and hopefully a plastic seat pan for when you recover that seat. Love riding ATC'S around the property and always take a picture of them on the dam, overlooking my bass pond. Hell, at 70, working 2 jobs, I deserve any kind of fun I can think of. Any trouble with that seat cover job, let me know and I'll recommend a good vendor, what size staples to use, and always warm the cover in the clothes dryer for 6 or seven minutes to soften it up so it stretches out nice. Great vid Stephen, and how about Howard, does he ride?
The other dangerous thing about them, just like you did on the slow rock climb, is you put your foot down out slip of the pegs and you can run over your leg and break your ankle real quick if you do not know what you are doing. This was another reason why they banned them
Had a 1999 Honda TRX300 4x4. Very simple technology run great no major problems. Sold it to upgrade to a 2013 Yamaha kodiak 450eps. Honda atvs are still keeping it simple even today. Always great to see the 3 wheelers on the go.
I started riding three wheelers in 1975 and have had dozens (110's,185's, 200's, 250r's....). I have an 82 big red that I bought new in 82 and have ridden it for 42 years. I live in a rural area and am on it for something almost daily. I go on trips with all my friends who have the new 4 wheelers, and I go everywhere they go, use about 1/3 the fuel, and always help them get their heavy pig 4 wheelers turned back up when they roll them over. Yes there is almost 5 decades of experience to my riding, but I don't see any reason to change to a 4 wheeler now. 4 wheel atv's are just not as much fun.
When I was ten years old in 85” we had a Honda 110 three wheeler loads of fun 🤩 on the dirt roads and trails on the river in South Georgia 🇬🇪 although my parents didn’t get me a helmet ⛑ got hurt 😔 letting someone else ride my three wheeler with me on the back
I have a near mint original 1982 big red. First year for the red. Mines a 200e no reverse though in 82. I have a couple videos of mine on my channel. Still original front tire(had the original rears until a few years ago) still original seat no rips
I love these things even though I’ve grown up in the 2000s I’ve grown up on them and they are cheaper than he said i got a 200e in like new condition for $700 and it goes about 55 mph on pavement
I’ve road an 84 act200 utility they are capable and fun but you have to ride on your own or with other 3wheelers. They definitely beat your body up more and just can’t go as fast or on the same lines as quads the only other thing that bothers me is no reverse, no rear suspension and pull cord only. Not that all those three wheeler are like that I’m trying to find a 250sx
Ive always said trikes are the combination of the worst elements of a bike and a quad mixed together: -Wide like a quad, so it cant do single track -3 tire lines to watch for obstacles on, rather than 1 or 2 -tippy like a bike, but its not useful like it is riding a bike -narrow front, wide rear is more stable going backwards We are starting our Tecate 3 rebuild soon, expecting it to be a terrifying deathtrap when its done
"Capable. What a stupid word to use with a 40 old 3 Wheeler capable enough to go a lot of places and have fun reliably unlike today's electronics computers sensors breaking down junk
That big red is more reliable than anything built today

Riding these in the snow is the most fun. I hang all the way off the side and drift it around turns hard. But I stay low and just slide off the seat
or you can stand up and make it sway side to side. thats always fun

I got a 1983 atc 185s that my dad got brand new as a birthday gift when he was a teen, ol' girl may be 41 but she's still rocking on the trails🤘

i collect and ride three wheelers. i find them way more fun and capable then atvs. they do ride rough but they rock on the tight trails!

84 went to shaft drive. A lot of great childhood memories on 3 wheelers

Had one of them when I was 10 I had the 200M and I flipped that backwards and sideways all the time lol was a wonder how we all survived lol

NL bayman special. We love theses in Eastern Canada for riding across bogs.
Awesome
Still have my 85 suzuki 185 no shocks...still brings front tire off the ground in every gear.

We use to have a 200 big red es and I loved it...I would love to get a 250 or maybe another 200,,,They are so fun to ride

I rode that before, almost lost my head in a wall as I was trying to turn! 🤪

Great video Steve! Thanks for taking us back in time! How much maintenance have you had to do to get that in fighting shape? None?
Not much
The low pressure you suppose to have is the suspension.
Toughest thing on wheels. I had one and miss it as I feel they are very capable
Anyone remember the early 1970s honda 70 atc which was orange ?
Yes. I also seen a green one. Not sure if it was stock color or what. But the massive tires always made me laugh
Riding this at 12yrs old a blast . At 50yrs old umm no .
No rear suspension gets old real quick
"Capable. What a stupid word to use with a 40 old 3 Wheeler capable enough to go a lot of places and have fun reliably unlike today's electronics computers sensors breaking down junk
Don't get me wrong, super cool, but totally not appealing. Despite being fun to drive, these things do honestly look like a death trap...
when you air down a bit like 20/25 psi it will sick to the ground like glue bro got them tires to hard i bet it hurts to ride like that lol
5psi for this.
cool
