Good video! what's the red button for and you could have done without the thudding music at ~17 minute mark. I'd rather heard the engine run and the muffler sounds better
The rule of thumb back when the original 6 wheel ATVs came out was that if you had a roll bar you wanted to wear seat belts, but if you didn't you don't. On the latter, if it rolls, you're far better off if you're thrown clear rather than having roll over on top of you every time. At least you have a chance if you're not buckled it.
Very well said. if that little Jeep goes to flip, just jump out of the way and don't get stuck under it! Or truthfully, that may not even matter if youre an adult. Can't weigh very much.
Well, I hate to say it! I bought one six years ago, and I have had no trouble. I have had nothing but fun and years of enjoyment! It’s perfect! I do appreciate what improvements you want to make, but make sure that you don’t make it sound like it’s no good without the improvements. I have not turned a wrench on mine one time! Just one battery.
That’s great to hear! This is just the experience I have had with this one. Quality control could have very well changed since the time you purchased yours. Either way it’s good to hear success stories with them. We enjoy it very often and do not regret the decision to buy. 👍🏼 thank you for commenting!
Well, actually, you are partially correct! I drive it every week but I just use it for fun inside of a small private airport? So I have probably put two or 300 miles on it. No rough use though. No off-road.😂
It’s a shame that you have to look out for this on a brand new machine but I’m glad our fix is holding up and is a very cheap and easy one to do. Just have to spread the knowledge so others don’t ruin there new toys! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
I would be concerned about the brand name: "Assimo". lol. Though it is cute, do you want a front wheel drive go cart that can't do donuts for $2,500? $1,500 would get a bunch more buyers. Is it better to sell 10 items at $100, or 7 items at $150? The rule of thumb is 100% markup in retail. That way there is room for a "sale". So it cost $1,250 and store marks it up to $2,500. How about $1,500 and I'll paint it myself? lol.
Reminds me of the 1974 Cadillac that my parents bought brand new Cadillac spent more time in the shop the first year we had it traded it in on a Lincoln. Mom dad said it was the best thing they ever did.
Thats the difference in a gm and a ford product. The only thing gm did right was the small block v8 along with the easily tunable modern fuel injection/ignition system. Ford is making that easier these days as well though.
Good stuff man. I work for a kymco dealer. They are Taiwanese. In the dealer manual they give you 1 hour flat rate to uncrate the things, put everything together, and be ready on the showroom floor. We’ve gotta double check every nut and bolt and basically build the damm things so customers don’t have issues like you. Put a roll cage and harness in it
That’s not an hour flat rate in my opinion that’s them being greedy. I have thought about building a roll bar and probably will. Yeah they really do need to be gone over, would be nice if they just loc tight everything from the factory. Are you able to get parts for the massimo?
@@Higgsgarage I’m lead tech in the small engine department at my shop. I reckon there’s not much I can’t get. Although I haven’t had one come through the shop yet. Plenty of knockoff ATV’s we’ve tackled. I was in coastal the other day and looked at one. They are pretty cool! And would be a good platform to build off of👍
@HollywoodCreeper that would be cool! I’m thinking a Jurassic Park theme paint job with our logo and colors instead of the original park colors and logo also.
Just bought one last week. Thought your upgrades were very interesting. Have already been driving it and very impressive little machine. Going to check out everything on it before we ride it again
Saw it and the tractor before Christmas in store in the Greenville TX store. Very cute and priced affordable. All you need is a playti ride it. Loved it

I watched yours and subbed to your channel! I like the front engine but am not partial to getting an xpro also. I am also considering the bigger 200cc for adults to review! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I would check the Jerry can for use for fuel. Remove the fuel tank over the engine and route a fuel line to the bottom of the Jerry can . (new easy to fill fuel tank). Also it can now be filled with a hot engine. If the oem fuel tank was part of the engine’s air cooling system, you may need to construct an air duct.
I carry spare fuel in the Jerry can and works like a charm. The original table can be removed but works for me. I fill it hot and have no issues. Just have to be careful for sure.
My cousin bought his son a new coolster 3speed mini Willy's jeep 125cc new in 2016. After a year only issue was throttle cable attachment behind the gas pedal broke and seemed to have been bolted with the cable bent. I work on small engine equipment at my home shop so made some simple adjustments and i have little cheap speed gun and got 42mph with my son 125lbs back then flat asphalt side road. Don't know how other brands are but the coolster was impressive for a china made one. Im 45 and 230lbs and it was surprisingly fast. Thought I was over weight limit but no because has a 400lb weight limit. Before all that i changed the oil and put amsoil in it and tossed the chinese torch brand spark plug and put a ngk in it. Pretty cool little ride but $2,500 plus and easily over 3 grand after taxes. Fairly expensive.
You made really good upgrades especially the oil cooler and carburetor. The sprocket should have been fixed from factory. Sounds like you have some cool ideas for it. A great bonding project for you and your kids. Hope y'all have fun thanks for sharing.
Replace one of the drive sprocket washers with a flat roller bearing. Like people put on the lawn mower front end steering spindles, to make them easier to steer. Grease the bearing up on a regular bases. I would just spray drive chain grease into the bearing when lubing the drive chain.

Since your kids drive it, maybe out a 96”whip CB antenna with the orange dune buggy flag on top. I know everyone has cell phones, but some of us still use CB’s. Walkie talkie’s use channel 14. An adapter would make the antenna operational. The flag makes it easier to see where they are.
Great addition advice! I’m going to put a list together and make another video with adding more accessories and I will add these ideas to my list! Thanks for the comment and watching!
Hopefully, they'll fix the sprocket deal soon. Nice upgrades. A lot more than I would've done. LOL! Should come with metal floorboards. Cheap decals. Go drab green. You've got yours's fixed up pretty good now. Nice place to ride there. I'll check back for updates and upgrades. 👍
Thank you! Yes we are going to do a paint job and some other things soon. I was thinking our logo colors in a Jurassic park theme paint job. Metal floors would be so much better also!
Good video, can't wait for more updates. Mine had absolutely no grease in one of those rear bearings too, if I didn't see this I would've just assumed it was good to go.
Good catch! Thank you for watching! I think both rear bearings in ours were dry. It’s very fun but definitely poor quality control from the manufacturer in my opinion.
If you get an Xpro mini Jeep you can avoid most of the issues associated with these. I think they’re the best ones made and come with a Zongshen engine, which are pretty reliable plus it’s a rear mounted engine. No issues with mine.
The dude who drove one of these around the salt flats for 1000 miles to MOAB recommended the Coolster Mini Jeep. That Jeep made it through 1000 miles in desert heat, snow, and pretty extreme off-roading. Sure, he burned out an engine in the desert, but considering the circumstances, it held up well.
You'll love it, as long as you replace or improve nearly everything! It's not a project, and it only cost $2,500! 😂 Seriously, though, nice job fixing it. I don't think I'll be buying one for that price, if I still need to put that much time and money into making it work right.
I had a good friend in high school “75” who him and his dad bought a ww2 willies jeep in a crate. They had to put everything together so every nut built or screw the put together. They knew it was all tight. Maybe if you could buy the mini in a crate, it wouldn’t have the problems yours seemed to have!
They have a flat needle bearing washer type out there that I saw on utube to help the lawnmower steering out of the front axles! I believe there are many sizes out there that maybe another way to help the sprocket wear.
That are a lot of fun! Thank you, we have been testing different mics and editing techniques. I hope to have that worked out on future videos! I do appreciate the kind critique it helps me improve.
A great and informative video. These are super popular today and for good reason. The Chinese need better quality control. Suggestion: Turn up your recording volume. Thanks
There was a series of videos where some crazy fool drove one of those mini jeeps to Moab, Utah. Great series, funny too. Lots of swearing, so not family safe. 🙂
Golf cart wheels can be swapped… they have cool chrome offset wheels with grippy tires. Watched a guy drive one of these through to Moab once. You can search for the RUclips documentary.
Instead of 2 washers use one and a transmission part called a thrust bearing. With the rollers bearing on the side sandwich the bearing with a washer then you don't have to worry about the case. You can buy thrust bearings in nearly any size any reputable parts shop should have them.
I almost bought one from Tractor supply store. It was $1800.00 on sale. I didn't like the stiffness of the steering. The plywood that makes the back of the seat was flimsy and would break with any pressure on it. I wanted it to play on and for my grandkids to ride but I wasn't satisfied with it...I passed.
All of these chinee go karts and such all need to be given a once over to make sure everything is connected correctly and almost always modifications have to be made. You really do get what you pay for with these machines.
I JUST learned that tractor supply sells these, and so I am going down the mini jeep rabbit hole now lol for the longest time we only had one tractor supply here in town, but I've never seen one of these over there. Then again, I have never really looked for anything like this because I had no idea that they would even carry or sell anything like this, but again, again, I go there pretty often and I've never seen one... But, we do have a new location that was recently built and I'm willing to bet they probably will have them at the new location, probably you know till like stand out from the other one from like a store competitor standpoint. I don't even know if the new ones open to the public yet, but I'm definitely going to go look for one and see if I can at least get a test drive lol This would absolutely be perfect for teaching a young person how to drive stick shift (without sacrificing your own transmission in your own truck lol).
I just bought one. For a 125cc it seems very under powered. My plan is to check the chain tightness, axle and what ever else I think of. Even small incline it seems weak for a 125. Top speed is about 25ish. I’m 140 lbs. motor sounds good and it feels like there isn’t much resistance in coast, but I feel like it should do better with the 125. Anything I should focus on in your opinion?
We picked one up a few days ago , super fun little jeep , I had to adjust the carb, the jeep wants to sputter sometimes on a hill and die out. Mine has goofy gas line routing to a little metal box then down to the carb. I'm assuming yours is uncorked, this thing has so much epa bullshit on it.
Wouldn't it be easier to make the floor board out of lightweight aluminum checker plate. Using the floorboard for mud flaps. Make a metal frame for the open area in front of the floorboard and again. Using aluminum checker plate . Really like the upgrades.
My neighbor bought one and sold his new ford pickup, said it will be his vehicle now and saving on insurance will pay for it in three months, he drives it every where now 😊😊😊 Great ideal
Glad your neighbor sold his FORD. He will be happier without it. Jeeps are garbage too. Good mod's on that Chinese toy. Teach the kids to try to stay inside and not get run over. Let's get cooking.
nice job on the upgrade, i just don't know if everyone wants or can think as mechanically as you. especially when its brand new. the sprocket issues is very much a problem that massimo should get fixed before selling anymore of these!
I would use some type of nylon spacer between sprocket and case. You may have to replace it occasionally, but atleast it would take the wear and friction wouldn't cause the washers wear on the case.
Ppl on the mini jeep Facebook page have mounted a plow. I think it will work with chains on the tires. They seem to have pretty good luck with it. I personally don’t know how it would handle snow. We didn’t get much this year in Missouri for me to test it out.
@trkrla5113 it’s really all simple. Wiring is a little intimidating but everything on this is pretty easy. If you do have one and are looking to do any of these and have questions you can pm me on facebook or ig. My email is also linked in my info on RUclips. 👍🏼
I'd like to upgrade my kids from their power wheels to something like this because they've about outgrown them, but $2500 for that build quality is hard to swallow. I miss the days of my childhood when you could get a little Murray go-kart at Lowes for $500 new and beat the piss out of it without much worry. Might look for a broken one someone is trying to get rid of cheap and drop a little Predator engine in it or something.
Just picked one of this up as well for my 7 year old daughter. since you have a speedo in there, how fast does this thing actually go? That battery is puny for sure. Going to change that exhaust? bet you could add a little power and make it sound better with different little mini exhaust. My daughter is near your son's size, ive found some of these other mini jeeps with dual adjustable seats, wonder if that is a smart upgrade to allow them to reach the pedals better. subbed.
I’m not sure how accurate the Speedo is but it is gps and I have got it to 30mph but it is screaming and I don’t recommend doing it lol. Not with stock sprockets and tire size anyways. I thought about running the exhaust out the back to see if it would be quieter up front but have not made any decision on it just yet. I have also seen the jeeps with the sliding seats, I don’t think they would be hard to accommodate but my son seems to be ok and he is growing so fast that I don’t know if it would be worth the effort to add them. It wouldn’t hurt for sure but I think we will keep stock seats at least for now.
This thing looks like fun, not that I'm interested in this stuff. My Dad is interested in the doodlebug community and this doesn't look far from that. Love the classic Willy's look!
I 100% agree with you. However I don’t have a good idea on how to align that front sprocket with the rear based on how the mechanics are set up on it. Maybe a laser or something?
You convinced me that I don't need the headache involved. Thank you.

It might last longer/reduce future wear if you replace those 2 stacked washers with a self-lubricating bronze thrust washer.
Good idea!
Very helpful vid man, thanks!
I’m glad you found it helpful!
A great and informative video. These are super popular today and for good reason. The Chinese need better quality control. Suggestion: Turn up your recording volume. Thanks
Thanks for the comment and advice! Means a lot to get critiques in respectful ways.
I like that 61inch cut bad boy zero turn
Thank you! It’s a great mower.
There was a series of videos where some crazy fool drove one of those mini jeeps to Moab, Utah. Great series, funny too. Lots of swearing, so not family safe. 🙂
I did see that! It was fun to watch!
There is a guy driving one of these 1000 miles to Moab. He has also driven around the world on a 90cc Honda. Fun guy, 90cc Adventures is his channel.
I have seen it! It’s pretty good! His name is Ed March. Great videos!
Golf cart wheels can be swapped… they have cool chrome offset wheels with grippy tires. Watched a guy drive one of these through to Moab once. You can search for the RUclips documentary.
Yes, Ed March did this! Great series! I think we might do some tires and wheels in the future!
Instead of 2 washers use one and a transmission part called a thrust bearing. With the rollers bearing on the side sandwich the bearing with a washer then you don't have to worry about the case. You can buy thrust bearings in nearly any size any reputable parts shop should have them.
Great idea thank you!
Be sure to reinforce the floor pan! My friends brother died from a stick poking a hole up through the floor board on a Razor 4 person 4wheeler!
Thanks for the advice! Appreciate you sharing this
I’m glad you enjoyed!
If you have the tools for it consider making a custom exhaust that exits out of the rear.
I have thought of this! I don’t have the tools but I would pay an exhaust shop to do it and it should quiet down some noise coming from the front.
Build a fjording kit for it too! lol Intake stack and exhaust stack...
I got a Panzer Tractor when I was 7 years old great
Nice!
Good video, nice mods.
Get Hrade 8 washers they are heavy duty enough oil them every time before starting it get a squeze oil can bungy it on or drip oil on it !
Good idea!
I was thinking of doing just that! 👍🏼 it seems like that would be a great option! Thanks for the comment!!
Thanks so much for saying Price so many You Tubers DON:T say Price
👍🏾Sir, You are making America great again🎯
Doing what I can! 🫡
You need to do a video of how you tighten bolts using a fine tooth comb ;-)
🤣
Blue locktight will stop the bolts from comming out try it !
100%
My neighbor bought one and sold his new ford pickup, said it will be his vehicle now and saving on insurance will pay for it in three months, he drives it every where now 😊😊😊
Great ideal
I don’t think I could do that haha but I do enjoy driving it with my son!
Glad your neighbor sold his FORD. He will be happier without it. Jeeps are garbage too. Good mod's on that Chinese toy. Teach the kids to try to stay inside and not get run over.
Let's get cooking.
Nice Jeep Go Kart.
nice job on the upgrade, i just don't know if everyone wants or can think as mechanically as you. especially when its brand new. the sprocket issues is very much a problem that massimo should get fixed before selling anymore of these!
I was thinking of getting one. They a 2.499 where I live. But if I pay that much for one I definitely don’t want to have to do anything else to it.
I completely understand and agree. I hope this video helped you see our journey with ours.
The air filter you linked to doesnt have a crankcase nipple on the end. Have to mod that one.
I would use some type of nylon spacer between sprocket and case. You may have to replace it occasionally, but atleast it would take the wear and friction wouldn't cause the washers wear on the case.
That’s not a bad idea. The washers are holding up so far but if I had to do it again I might try nylon.
Do you think you could fit a snow plow blade to the front end? or do you figure it would need 4wd?
Ppl on the mini jeep Facebook page have mounted a plow. I think it will work with chains on the tires. They seem to have pretty good luck with it. I personally don’t know how it would handle snow. We didn’t get much this year in Missouri for me to test it out.
Paint it OD green, stick a toy MG on it and have the kids tool around in it!
Would be sick like that!
Careful Tiny Tim.
I thought about getting one to tool around in myself.
But I already have a Polaris General and a lifted golf cart so I really cant justify it.
Seatbelts keep you from smashing forward and bouncing up… that’s about it.
Love the green tunnel/ monkey trail you drove through.
My brain just overheated watching this upgrade! 🥵
Not sure why but I hope your ok 🤣
@@Higgsgarage...I'll be alright! The mechanical aspects I can understand, the electrical stuff, not so much! G.P.S. really? Thanks for sharing! 😅
Thank you for this video 😊
Thanks for the nice comment!
Nice! Beautiful property. What state is that ?
Thank you. This is in Missouri
Thank You Very Much For Sharing 👍
Thank you for leaving a comment!
Thank you for your support it really means a lot!
Add the mirrors to make it street legal... As well as a bicycle turn signal set
It has turn signals and comes with mirrors. I took them off bc they were not needed in my case but I saved them if I do need them in the future.
Great upgrades. So much for not having another project.
Should have gotten the one made by Coleman, i think it is. It's got a 196cc predator pull start
You should use a thrust washer/bearing on that sprocket, it wont booger up the case.
This thing looks like fun, not that I'm interested in this stuff. My Dad is interested in the doodlebug community and this doesn't look far from that. Love the classic Willy's look!
Glad I watched this. I now know what I'm not buying!
Glad it helped make your decision.
Great video. I wish this would work out of the box, though. Seems like a lot of basic work just to get it ready to run.
I completely agree! And this is just ours so others might have different experiences but I wanted to share ours.
If you would be concerned about those metal washers wearing through your case go buy brass washers so that you won't wear your case out
Definitely a good idea to consider. I’m going to take it apart and see how it’s holding up on the next video.
Change the oil soon after you get one of these.
Absolutely!
really infromative video ,GOOD JOB ,!
Ya need to zip tie a 4x4 block on that gas pedal for the youngen.
Wouldnt hurt to put one on the brake pedal as well.
Sounds like an alignment problem I've never heard of a sprocket getting drugged over into the case unless the rear sprocket is out of alignment.
I 100% agree with you. However I don’t have a good idea on how to align that front sprocket with the rear based on how the mechanics are set up on it. Maybe a laser or something?
You should fabricate a small howitzer and hitch to put on the back
THANKS FOR THE WARNING I WONT BUY ONE ....SUBBED👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
At the beginning are you looking for the wheels to fall off?
I wonder if there was any extra charge for all the warning labels.
🤣🤣 no kidding!
Mmmm...go cart or mini jeep???
Excellent upgrades.
