    I would laugh if they turned out to be Oresrians who were trying to warn us, I'm pretty sure we shot first, and now they're are mad at us humans for confusing them as their sworn enemy the Thargoids (cuz they look alike). • @wmgthilgen
    @wmgthilgen 5 лет назад +9

    From what I've heard and come to understand, according to lore. Thargoid's are busted up into two categories, groups or faction's. There are those that for what ever reason find humans intolerable and those that find humans tolerable. However, as of to-date, NO humans have been able to distinguish the difference between the two. The Indiscriminate killing of Thargoid's without any knowledge of which group or factions are the ones whom are tolerable, isn't going to sit well with them. And it's safe to assume, the tolerable will eventually become intolerable as well.

    And if Thargoids are even remotely "insect like," (🧐) hive organizations have vastly more drones than warriors, but it's the warrior class that get all the attention. Obviously, they get noticed because they're the ones fighting, but we still feel the need to kill the entire hive.
    By this point, so much damage has been done that it's unlikely anything can be done to fix this relationship, but maybe if we DIDN'T attack every Thargoid on sight, & put forth a concerted effort to communicate, we could come to a peaceful, or at least non-antagonistic, resolution. We aren't fighting for resources, we can't really exist naturally in each other's environments. There's nothing we should be fighting over. This has become a classic "Hatfields and McCoys" scenario. It's time to end the feud.

    Also the best place to rank up on combat. Just turn up with dumb fires, hover about 25 meters off the ground and the scavengers will keep respawning. 6 kills every 5 secs = 1% deadly combat rank every 5mins. By far the easiest and quickest way to rank upto Elite in combat. I'm a little surprised Down to Earth hasnt done a video on this already.

    • @moose9906

      not sure where you got the 6 kills every 5 seconds. I have only seen them spawn 3 at a time and the respawn takes about 10 seconds. I think 1% deadly every 20 minutes is closer in my experience. Still, not bad though

      @moose9906 5 лет назад +1

      @@LordKemmotar I did it yesterday in Delphi. If you are too close to the ground, they were not re-spawning but if you go to about 200 meters the spawn point produces 3 scavengers every 10 seconds as long as all 3 from the last spawn are dead. with a krait II with all missiles I was able to gain 5% deadly in about 1.5 hours. that is killing 3 at once most of the time and reloging (about every 20 missiles)when the missiles stop killing the scavengers because of smoke or debris

    Nature doesn't care about right and wrong. to the family of bunnies who just want to live and eat grass the fox is evil, to the fox they are food to bring home to their families so that they can survive. the bottom line is that now that we are sharing the same space we are a threat to each other and competing for resources. Those who want to talk to them and try to build a relationship are wasting sentiment on a creature who has 0 reasons to try and form a symbiotic relationship. Although I am curios what would happen if a colony was placed and they started helping the thargoids. bringing them things they seem to collect etc like doggos and humans maybe something could happen?? meh dunno its late and I am tired.

    @thatoneannoyingtornadosire8755 3 года назад

    I've never played the game, i've been watching videos to learn the lore and how to play because I intend to start playing relatively soon since I just got it on sale.
    This is purely my speculative take based on a few videos i've watched. I may change or alter this post some time in the future after gaining more knowledge on the lore either through personal experience or through more studying.
    If thargoids are attacking purely over a small area (to them) of resources then it's only fair to retaliate, not to mention they previously already made another race extinct even when said race tried talking to them.
    Also I find it kind of funny how some scientists didn't like a few samples getting tested on while by that point a lot of people already died from attacks, so creating the virus was the only way to get thargoids to stop attacking and to give them a taste of their own medicine. Pun intended.
    But with that said, at least each side is given a reason for attacking each other and it's not just random and unprovoked conflict. Both sides having something their fighting for in the situation has somewhat of a complexity to it, and there may be more going on that we don't know about or isn't established yet in the story.
    Either way, some neat lore, but the video seems a little too "human bad" type of thing, like there was no actual reason for the countermeasures taken.

      @@iplaygames8090 Maybe, but they did that on the outer edges, something between a rumor and a legend. Not a danger to the main body of humanity. No reason to escalate to such extreme as extermination. If reason does not work for you, in ethics don't move you, then think pragmatic: how many Thargoids could there be in our galaxy? Could we hold against them if we triggered a coordinated thargoid response? Remember, the ancients couldn't so why would we in our tiny Bubble?

    I think we're getting a story here, designed to make humans (& Guardians before us) appear the victim. "To the Victor go the spoils" includes the sole right to spin the story to show yourself in the best light. Both humans & Guardians (I'm suspicious of a connection) claim that the Thargoids attacked them on sight. People say the same thing after being attacked by bee swarms, but they generally neglect to include the fact that they took a whack at the hive or tried to take the honey immediately prior to this "unprovoked attack."

      My first three encounters with thargoids hyperdicting me just seemed like mild curiosity on their part. A quick scan, some of their signature sounds and then gone. I fostered hope that there were friends among the void that were non human and it would just take us some time to reach a common ground with them. I come back a few years later to port my Xbox CMDR to PC and now all they want to do is blast my sorry ass to smithereens. I'm totally behind the kicking the hornet's nest theory of yours. Devs have hinted that our reaction to the thargoids is central to how the story will unfold.
      I'm hopeful this new community goal can give players avenues to pursue a peaceful resolution with our neighbours in a non cultish way.

    I've realized something recently about the lore in ED. Excluding the aliens.
    The three factions bear a striking similarity to The Legend of the Galactic Heroes anime.
