I'd add remain calm. Fighting a thargoid interceptor is almost a dance. Don't panic and you'll do fine. A missing detail. After heart 3 you need to watch for a shutdown field burst. Also, if you don't knock off a heart within a certain amount of time the thargoid will berserk. That means he just constantly tosses out a swarm whenever one dies off. Otherwise you have quite a bit of time between launches (1 per heart)
I would also say add a 1E Decon limpit and a 4 anti- corrosive cargo rack and haul 16 limpit's. Limpits cost zilch to buy but guardian weapons take guardian parts to synth ammo. So add a 2nd 73% shield booster since you need shield cap not resistance. 2nd forgo a size 5 and a 2 deep plating for the guardian hull, the 9.8% ish caustic resistance doesn't sound like a lot but instead of losing 1% hull a second it greatly reduces it.
@@Javelin1x That's what I do. I also use a fast fighter to distract the swarm rather than trying to kill it as every time I try to use the flak guns I fail at it miserably. I try every so often though.
I never killed a thargoid before, I used your krait mk II build, engineered it and killed an interceptor first try. Thanks a lot for the video I never thought I'd be able to do it so fast!
As an aside, if your ship is fast enough to maintain a decent distance like his Krait was, you can use silent running to burn off the corrosive if you either A) don't have the ammo to waste, or B) don't have enough Xeno weapons to generate the kind of heat necessary. Just go silent, put 4 pips to engines and keep boosting. Use a heat-sink like normal if you wish after the corrosive is gone. After that, just go to your Ship panel (the panel on the right) and select reboot/repair under 'Ship.' Once the sequence is over and your ship reboots your shields are back to full. If you have 13km like in the video here you've got plenty of time to raise your heat, reboot your ship and get your shields back online and fully recharged.
Another thing, if you can, try and boost away with flight assist off when you hit reboot/repair so you can carry the speed while you are restarting. It’ll help you keep your distance from the bug.

I did manage to get rid of 1 batch of them though, but that was only because they turned into a bunch of suppositories and went straight up my bottom.. At this point I'm almost ready to give up fighting interceptors.. By now I've bought, equipped, engineered & tried 4 ships especially for this (Type 10, Corvette, Krait Phantom & Chieftain) and I failed in all of them horribly.. The closest I've gotten was destroying the 1st heart and blowing up 1 complete Swarm, funny enough I did this in a half baked engineered Python carrying 3x Gauss Cannons and 2x Flak Cannons..
@@captaincaveman2353 I'm in a similar situation. I've made about 8 attempts and furthest I've got is killing three hearts. @captain caveman @CheDonJohn i think a problem people have when fighting Thargoids at first, is they treat it more like bounty hunting and tend to stick on the target for WAY too long or WAY too frequent. Do a bit of dmg to exert the heart, then book it. fly way the fuck out (and if you fly FAON) flip off FA for a second until youre gliding backwards and see the ceptor chase you. flip FA back on if you want, line up your shot on the pass for the heart, then GTFO again. the comment here that says it's like a dance is VERY accurate IMO. Think of it kind of like that dance move where you spin your dance partner AWAY from you slowly, then spin them back in rapidly. it's kind of like that.
I'm constantly running out of ammo on the flak launcher, i guess i need to work on my aim. However, in the video, you also run out and then magically refill, did you synthesize ammo at some point? You failed to mention anything about this??
When I overheated the ship in order to get rid of the caustic substance, the internal modules got damaged significantly. I would recommend decontamination limpets instead.
Decon limpets take up more space. If you're worried about module damage, take an AFMU with which isn't a bad a idea in the first place. Also, to cool down quicker you can fire 2 heatsinks at once. Apart from that, you'll only get caustic damage in wing fights or really rare cases in solos as those missiles can easily be outrun, additionally keeping your heat below 20% after killing a herat will prevent them being fired altogether.

I have slowly been building a Thargoid Corvette Battleship for about 17 months but now to help with our mess we stupid humans have created, I have been on a personal mission to create a Guardian Hybrid. I have unlocked & collected everything to do with the Guardian technology. I could never remember which Guardian Weapons to install & now I have my library of every single Guardian piece of tech available in the game, I can now engineer the normal parts of this ship for strength & integrity using the engineers. My Corvette should be the strongest weapon against the Goids at the cost of speed & Stupid Ganker attacks as my 'Guardian X-BS' Corvette is vulnerable against human attacks but this Corvette is not built to hunt my own kind but to help preserve our Human kind. Funny, I build a Human protector ship but my own kind like to kill my vulnerable Corvette but that's stupid pathetic Humans for you. Just curious, when thargoid hunting first began. As all of the commanders including myself learned how to kill them. At that point in time there was only one variant of thargoids. One never had their combat rank increased per kill. I am now triple elite, so I wouldn't know if ones rank increases per kill. Does it? Nice video as always.
It gives elite kill rank increase but just one while scouts are same too so farming scouts is a great for rank. I tried it for a while but it was still too slow and hunting scouts was very boring but i got an idea, hunting scouts with a guardian fighter :))
I've only been playing the game for a couple of weeks now. Today, I decided to do a SAR mission in the HIP 16378 System that Obsiaian Orbital had mentioned in the local news. Funny... the station name and information announcer's voice seem oddly familiar... I knew I wasn't prepared, but I thought just maybe I could grab a black box or escape pod, or other proof of the missing explorer. After 1500+ hours gameplay in ED today I killed my first Thargoid in VR. It took me three attempts to finally understand what to aim for and when. I was too excited to subtarget it every time I approached the ‘goid. The other thing I needed to learn was at what distance to engage the swarm and how to keep my ship stable with the flight stick. Having a light grip on the stick helped a lot. Rewatching your video a second time helped understand the right distance as the swarm starts to move around once the Thargons are closer than 3 clicks which makes it very hard to hit. I used your build and it was a good decision to bring 2 flak launchers as I very much sucked at using them in the beginning. Shields aren't all that effective against thargoids. Better to just replace it with a fully engineered hull reinforcement package. You get much more value for the module slot. Plus, using silent running to get rid of caustic substance is much easier because you don't have any shields to worry about in the first place.
I'm gonna comment first then watch the vid ...It was just over 35 years ago when i first had an encounter with a Thargoid, it was on a BBC micro and it took ages, all I had was many hours logged and a Military spec laser front and rear. You had to grind away at them and they would release drones that would attack and confuse you, however when you destroyed the "mother ship" the drones became inert and could be scooped up and sold, from what I remember the Thargoids would appear from something called "which space" and where quite rare... now I'm gonna see how this compares to the vid. Have you similar memories ?
Ah the first time attacked by a thargoid, lots of panic followed by death. Very different battle now. I actually played the original Elite just recently with an emulator ah the memories.
Im trying to hunt cyclops with an Anaconda but their one lighting strike just destroys me, instantly loosing the shield and taking pretty bad hull damage even if i have 5k shield and 4k hull!! Is it because Anaconda is much bigger than Krait so im taking more damage in Anaconda? Also i can't outrun cyclop in anaconda which is also a big problem but i don't last long anyway first heart and lighting strike then im pretty much gone...
I would really recommend getting a different ship because the conda is very bad at "normal" interceptor combat. The Krait Mk.II is the recommended starter ship. Chieftain is a really good one with a little less protection and DPS. If you want to stick to large ships, get a Cutter.
I will comment that I been playing ED since 2015. And every few updates I come back and play, I have 8 weeks of play on ED and have never killed a Thargoid. So hopefully I can kill one after this video. My next comment will be the outcome of my first endeavour
I gotta get better at hunting goids in my cutter, but I need a goid hunting build and idk where to find an up to date one :/ . Also you should try and hunt goids in a cutter and see how that fares.
You can find up-to-date builds in the AX flight manuals which in return can be found on the AXI discord. They're also posted on the forums somewhere, you'll need to take a look in recent threads.
nice video and tuto as the other. With the same configuration ship and weapon I'm not able to have the same forward speed and reverse. i have around 480 forward and close to 220 reverse. i did not understood why. may be you have some explanation, nevertheless please continue all your video ;-)
grard Pa Is your ship engineered? Also he isn’t reversing to get away from the Thargoid and swarm. He is frying forwards, and then switching to Flight Assist off and then turning the ship. (FA off maintains speed and trajectory, unless you apply any new acceleration.)
To be fair to DTEA, he never pretends that a) it's easy and b) thathe's good at it. This is a very useful everyman approach to tackling a cyclops for the first time.
never did get the knack of killing a big goid solo. i'd done everything in this game it was possible to accomplish, triple elite, max military ranks, multiple billions of cr, maxed out engineers etc. spent 6 months trying to solo a cyclops, never managed, spent a fortune on rebuys trying. finally said, fuck it i'll never solo a big boy time to quit, there's no more in this game for me. that was 9 months ago, haven't played elite since.
Support role practically doesn't exist in thargoid combat. Because of the bugs that can (and will) happen in multiplayer, everyone involved needs to be able to take on an interceptor alone.

Why does the ammo bar under the gauss cannons change from blue to orange during the fight?
@@nightraven7198 cool.
Thanks!
Thanks man great advise
This was really helpful! Thank you!
you are a legend mate
Dont lasers and seeker missiles/torpedoes work on thargs?
Going after my first one tomorrow, hope I do half as good as you did lol
How did it go?
@@hadenwilson7924 we Will never know
That profile pic is abit SUSPICIOUS impersonator
Do you think the Krait is better than the Alliance anti-thargoid ships?
do you reall yneed the flak stuff to take down the swarm?
I was wishing you would do this video....thanks
what is that bobblehead with shield, thargoid interceptor and star
I realize this video is a couple of years old now but I can't see a link anywhere to the ship build being used here.
just look up down to earth astronamy thargoid krait build
Im trying to hunt cyclops with an Anaconda but their one lighting strike just destroys me, instantly loosing the shield and taking pretty bad hull damage even if i have 5k shield and 4k hull!! Is it because Anaconda is much bigger than Krait so im taking more damage in Anaconda? Also i can't outrun cyclop in anaconda which is also a big problem but i don't last long anyway first heart and lighting strike then im pretty much gone...
'Conda just isn't fast enough to evade the 'goid attacks.
I would really recommend getting a different ship because the conda is very bad at "normal" interceptor combat. The Krait Mk.II is the recommended starter ship. Chieftain is a really good one with a little less protection and DPS. If you want to stick to large ships, get a Cutter.
I just went to asterope to see some thargoids
it was *epic*
thargoid sightseeing
I will comment that I been playing ED since 2015. And every few updates I come back and play, I have 8 weeks of play on ED and have never killed a Thargoid. So hopefully I can kill one after this video. My next comment will be the outcome of my first endeavour
You are the man! Thanks for another great video, keep it up!
I wish you could boost in reverse
I hope they don.t get extinct after this video...
I gotta get better at hunting goids in my cutter, but I need a goid hunting build and idk where to find an up to date one :/ . Also you should try and hunt goids in a cutter and see how that fares.
s.orbis.zone/dhu
here, mate. Tinker around with something like this, a really good AXI guy uses it
You can find up-to-date builds in the AX flight manuals which in return can be found on the AXI discord. They're also posted on the forums somewhere, you'll need to take a look in recent threads.
@@Deathborn2048 I see. I'll take a look but last I saw it wasn't up to date. Could be wrong tho.
I suck at FA off but manage OK flying backward swith FA on to kill swarms o7
Very helpful thank you
To exert the first (and subsequent) hearts you only have to hit it with a Gauss cannon, is that right?
It depends on the size of the goid. Ginger Thargoids require more hit before the hearts are exerted
Great video o7 cmdr
This looks a little complicated, can I just brute force my way through? Lol
nice video and tuto as the other.
@@iNetRunner many thanks for this explanation, it s more clear now on how they maintain the speed
Yes the ship is fully engineered
i got 2000 hours in this game never killed a thargoid yet. one killed me
Thanks for this; I've been wanting to do some xeno-hunting for a while and now at least I know where to start. Cheers bud :)
nicely done :-)
FYI... if you slow down the video to 75% speed, or 0.75, you can understand him much better. Even his accent seems to disappear... LOL
Great!!
this hardwork for 2m yet void opal gives 1.6m per ton lol
very balanced game
@@slowner295 i think alliance and stations want to see the galaxy burn. So the price of opal will increase.
Well today is a good day,I can get 24 million in one interceptor kill
Sure looks easy when you can miss a bunch of times and then just jump cut to when you score the hit :)
To be fair to DTEA, he never pretends that a) it's easy and b) thathe's good at it.
This is a very useful everyman approach to tackling a cyclops for the first time.
I did it first try!!
Coulda uses this couple months ago, when I killed 2 and took some heat damage and didnt how to get rid of it
I've heard enough. I'm not fucking with thargoids. If you need merch delivered, I'm your man. But I'm not going into that world.
tharged
never did get the knack of killing a big goid solo. i'd done everything in this game it was possible to accomplish, triple elite, max military ranks, multiple billions of cr, maxed out engineers etc. spent 6 months trying to solo a cyclops, never managed, spent a fortune on rebuys trying. finally said, fuck it i'll never solo a big boy time to quit, there's no more in this game for me. that was 9 months ago, haven't played elite since.
Shame you could probably help alot of new peeps
can't we just blast it?
Is someone in a support role was killing only drones, do they still get combat rank?
Support role practically doesn't exist in thargoid combat. Because of the bugs that can (and will) happen in multiplayer, everyone involved needs to be able to take on an interceptor alone.
@@Deathborn2048 not true at all. Im regularly in a goid popin party quite often. Consisting of generally myself and another but upto 4 at once. I built a Cutter for support with 4 APC's a size 4 beam with regeneration siz2 2 regeneration and a size 2 long range concordant secquence. Size 7 repair limpit and a size 5 decon. Its a extremely useful setup. When not in the Cutter im in my mk ll with 2 size 2 beams 1 is regeneration the other long range concordant secquence. I just right and left trigger it in different fire groups
@@Javelin1x How are you guys handling the invincible heart bug then? Especially on a Hydra?
@@Deathborn2048 in the event of a bugged goid we just leave. The best way to not get disconnected from the game in a group goid hunt is as soon as your done jumping in to the instance unlock your teammate because if your still licked and everyine jumps out it will disconnect you.
Also the guy that gets disconnected most needs to jump out last. At least thats how it works with 2 of our members 👍🐹
@@Javelin1x what the hell... So you just give up? ... yeah ok no comment.
i just cannot be bothered
you need to use the neutron highway to get fro one of your eyes to the other
who else is here because of the new update?
Me. Because I completely forgot :)
it's easy with a conda with 4 of them guardian shotguns, if u hit it right you don't need to even kill the hearts
Guardian frag cannons?
Only works with Cyclops and premium ammo and is actually boring apart from the first time maybe.
I've seen videos of that.. It sure seems easy enough, but I'm unable to copy it myself.. I guess I should ask the Pilots Federation to demote my combat rank back to mostly harmless..
@@captaincaveman2353 Maybe you didn't use premium ammo? Doesn't work without.
@@Deathborn2048 I do use premium.. It probably is my flying/ aiming skills, because it is moving away from me slightly while my weapons are reloading, and Shard cannons are lose a lot of damage output very quickly.. I guess I need keep practicing and learn to fly F/A off with a controller because I play on console..
Great video! You can't do this with normal or non-engineered weapons can you? ← Comment for algorithm + 👍 'd

Stop killing thargoids the developers of the game stated themselves war between humanity and them is based of the average on how many players attack them and good work 👏 they are now objectively hostile it is only a mater of time till full scale war breaks out between mankind and the thargoids and the only way we stand a chance is if all the three major factions and all independent systems unite together as much as we fight amongst one another cause let's face it they are superior tech wise fuck they can move thro hyperspace like we do in supercruise with our FSD hell they can even indication a ship while there mid way jumping from one system to another if the developers decide fuck it to many people are attacking the thargoids the thargoids are going to go full scale war on us and lastly thargoids are a hivemind species like ants they don't have individuality like us and find the concept of it foreign they can't even conceive it
Holy fuck, your punctuation is garbage!
Played about 3 hrs of this game and uninstalled. Most boring game I've ever played.
