When Spike said "I love syphilis more than you", my first thought was that Harmony was thinking "who's Syphilis?" Because Harmony is not the brightest girl, after all. Now that's my head canon, she's stunned, trying to remember whether Spike has mentioned Syphilis before... Harmony is one of my favorite vampires, it's like a piece of Clueless in Buffy. 🤣 And you have to wonder, during Graduation - which vampire decided it was a good idea to turn her rather than just let her bleed out?

First, remember who Harmony was before she got bit on graduation day. Second, remember that Anya was a Vengeance Demon for thousands of years who only recently became a teenage mortal, so her social skills may tend to bluntness. And that is why we love both of them. On the other hand, Parker deserves everything that might happen to him.
I love the juicebox scene and Mickey's reaction made it a 1000% better! Thanks for that! Also, a toe ring of immortality would be the best way to protect that "temporary" invulnerability. D & D games give us the opportunity and the time to think about those things, wich is great!
Harmony is such a clear villain, yet I feel bad seeing her mistreated by Spike. I don't think he mistreated Drusilla though, they had a fucked up relationship by virtue of them both being vampires and that's how "love" manifests itself between them. (I don't buy the argument that Drusilla mistreated him either, TBH.)
Parker may not have outright lied, but he definitely acted in a way that implied interest in a relationship. If he'd come right out and said he's looking for a hookup but not a relationship, of course, he might not get "lucky" as often, but he would have been much more honest.
Parker is an idiot. Men who act like uninterested douchebags get laid much more than men who show interest, whether real or fake. Statistically speaking, he's hurting his own chances.
No, he didn’t. He had conversations and shared interests. Buffy was naive about college guys. Parker was being himself, regardless of how shitty it is.
Love your reactions to Buffy. Mikey's adorable giddiness gets me every time, it really feels like I'm watching the show again for the first time because I had those same laughs. And Mike seems to thoroughly understand and enjoy all the life analogies. Ya'll are so fun to watch!
I have to disagree with Mike saying Spike mistreated Drusilla, at least in the context of them both being evil vampires. He was always far more devoted to her than she was to him.
If Spike wanted to make sure Buffy didn’t grab the ring, he should have made it a Prince Albert! So Buffy tells Xander he has to grab it! Sounds like the opening to some fan fiction!
The Harsh Light Of Day was an interesting episode in that we still see Buffy's innocence regarding men. It is interesting see a lot of reactors saying how much they liked Parker, even though he seemed totally too sweet and smarmy from the start. The Spike Harmony relationship shows how coercive and manipulative it can be by one partner over another. The Anya Xander one is also most interesting as it is Anya who is almost coercing Xander into a relationship where he is clearly still very innocent and is not particularly wanting it. Spike being reintroduced is great for the show as he is without doubt one of the best characters in The Buffyverse. The credits are somewhat of a spoiler for reactors but it is impossible avoid them as they run as the episode is being shown. It's a shame they can't run them after a major character is in the episode. This of course is a lead into the Angel episode In The Dark with the Gem of Amara.
Very great analysis! Also he seemed like a good guy. I wasn't sure if they were setting up Buffy to have a love interest die or become a vampire, but instead it's an evil man who just used her!
People talk about how spike is when hes in a relationship ... hes literally an evil demon and people are still like 'omg did he shove her???' LUL Parker on the other hand is way worse than a demon and how dare he make Buffy feel like that!!!!
This is Buffy's first time being with a fboy. I don't blame her for falling for it because he misrepresented himself, it was a learning experience for her. Buffy was too pressed to move on from Angel rather than just wait for the right guy to present himself. Parker would have became distant and bitter had she not slept with him and iced her out. Anya needs to step out of her selfishness to be able to have a relationship with people, Xander was disappointed when she left. She didn't propose to help him, she came in to probably get a 2nd round. Spike is not over Drusilla and is taking it out on Harmony.
Fun episode, enjoyed the reaction/discussion. Glad Spike is back, he's definitely abusive to vampire Harmony but as a soulless vampire I imagine he would find Harmony pretty annoying. Still vampire Harmony is a very funny addition to the Buffyverse and she partakes in one of my favorite fight scenes. Regarding Spike, I'm also in the he wasn't abusive to Dru camp. We also get more of Anya which is definitely a good thing and Parker's true nature is revealed. Lastly, loved Mikey's reaction to the juicebox scene.
Finally got two of the best characters back: Spike and Anya! Even if the season may not be the strongest there are some iconic episodes coming up. And then season 5...🤩😱🤯🤬😭
If they're gonna give Buffy a real love interest, they're not gonna make him an evil Xander clone. : p Every sentence out of his mouth was obviously a line. I don't know if its just that I'm a woman or what, but he sets off some minor alarm bells. Like he's not the kind of guy to get physically violent, but your heart isn't safe with him and you can just feel it. And like...its fine to just want one night stands...but he doesn't just go for that. He wants to get their emotions involved and break them, like he gets off on the girls wanting more and he dangles that carrot. All they can think about is him and why he doesn't want them, what did they do wrong. That's what makes him a special kind of creep. And now we have another hint that Xander might just be dyslexic. : ) School system totally failed him, Giles was a bit of a jerk at that moment, ignoring the signs...but then he has no problem overlooking Xander. He's too busy finding Xander's presence bothersome...at least until Xander becomes useful again. Wow. I woke up bitter this morning. *headdesk* Angel didn't lose his soul by having sex with Buffy...it was the aftermath, the afterglow, the falling asleep with her in his arms. His soul was content to be with her, it was a connection he'd never even had when he was human because back then he was a party boy. He didn't know what love was until he had Buffy in his arms. I hate Angel, but I'll defend that moment. He didn't lose his soul because of sex. Anya is just trying to be human, but I don't like that once again Xander was collateral damage, at least he wasn't hurt physically. But Anya is all about her experience and feelings, ignoring that Xander too, is a person and he should have an equal say in what they do together. She just tracked him down and he didn't have time to be her new cuddle buddy when she's so not really sure how to even be human. Or what she really wants. The show is good...but...it shows you how not to be. Like don't treat your partners or your friends like this. People in the real world won't be loyal after you hurt them repeatedly.
