I don't really understand why you give warranty on the whole mainboard or on the whole laptop if you only replaced one capacitor. If the graphics, processor, charge controller IC or other capacitor breaks, then it's your fault because you didn't read it out of your crystal ball? I only give warranty on the repaired part. Of course, if a connection is visible, e.g. a capacitor in the 19V rail was short-circuited, then after a few weeks the first MosFet is broken, I replace it free of charge as a gesture of goodwill, because I see a connection. But without connection, after a longer time it is simply another fault, another repair. If the customer wants a warranty on the entire mainboard, then he should pay for the entire mainboard and have it replaced.
The customer doesn't know what the repair shop actually did. Your "fix" might have impact on other components. Especially mistakes such as forgetting one screw that might break the hinge or something else later. Unrelated to the actual capacitor but not unrelated to your actions. Seeing the other shops' repairs on different videos (comments under this video), I understand why these laws exist to protect the customer. What is fair for the business isn't for the customer. Having a mosfet or a capacitor dead after 1year manufacturer warranty isn't fair either. I had an high-end 1000$+ Asus motherboard dead due to a simple diode. Just after the 1year warranty.
It hurts the credibility of the shop by providing what feels like a worse customer experience. No customer wants to hear _"I fixed your SMC_RESET_L circuit, now your SMC is bad, so you have to pay again."_ They would rather pay $200 and have it fixed with a real warranty than $75 once, and $75 again when they come back a month later because something else is wrong. Consumer psychology comes into play. you can easily have someone who would be happier paying $200 with the full warranty, than $150 after 2 repairs with an a-la-carte warranty.
Good one Sorin and what I have learned from you is to always check logically the basic fundamentals to start with until we find the root cause of the problem rather than jump to conclusions or assumptions. This is called root cause analysis, which was employed by factories, aviation and ship building companies and so on to prevent mistakes. I think on this one you were a bit annoyed how the job was taken in. It proves neither you, the owner nor the staff was wrong in the end. It was a real event how to improve system and process in taking in a repair or job. I am told system and process are not failure proof and mistakes cannot always be prevented but can be minimised.
I recently also received another one of these laptops again, ironically the charger itself was fine (output 19v) and was the OEM charger with the correct barrel size. I assumed something wrong with the charging jack detection pin since no matter how the charger was inserted, the pin was never grounding. You should order yourself one of those universal laptop chargers, they come with a huge set of those universal dc jacks for laptops. When doing tests with your bench power supply just apply the voltage through one of those matching connectors. It's also a bit easier, you have both hands free and you avoid the situation with those pesky input detect sockets. Thanks for another great video.

Sorin, the bottom of the laptop often has the power requirements on the sticker. That charger looks like it's for a small laptop, you are right. New rule: check for propper power supply before fault finding.
when you being nice guy they will take the opportunity to take the advantage to make you losing money that's make me hate to give an extra good service
So the more somebody can pay for an item the more you can charge them? To confirm how much to charge, just ask a bunch of other like-minded guys, sounds reasonable.

@@samerali2023 Yes, socket pins differ among countries! If you are certain that charger is at fault try switching chargers before going ahead with the purchase. Before repair, get an estimate as most likely it will cost nearly the same as new charger!
Hi Sorin and thank you for sharing your knowledge through all your videos. I think that those who think you charge too much for capacitor should know, there are a lot capacitors on board and you spend a lot of time learning to find which one is faulty.
You jumped the gun on this repair. It was the charger, why didnt you quick check in front of the customer? It is indeed the original charger, the volts and amps are printed on the back of the case, near the model number. You are very unprofessional arguing with the shop owner about a repair that you actually got wrong, on this occasion.
Not professionally? I don't think... if the customer doens't want to fix the issue .. no problem. Give him the laptop as is.... sometimes i receive laptops with brocken power connector because the customer tried and tried to plug the connector destroying it... but the fault maybe is a mosfet or a cap.

Hi Sorin. Next time plug the charger and after that it is not necessary to make manual connection between minus and the charger pin.
Time to buy a spare acer charger. 😁
1) i think that you could plug the charger cable in and should make that short! 2) usualy is writing on back of the laptop how much volts and amps the charger should deliver!
yes Mr Sorin when you see it that means a dodgy job or Leaking money job for no reason 🤔😂 100% the charger is a not original
19 , 20 is the same thing😂😅
this will set a bad example if customer finds out he was right. Charge him a random motherboard fault. /s
That would be crooked.
ok
Sorin, the bottom of the laptop often has the power requirements on the sticker.
That charger looks like it's for a small laptop, you are right.
New rule: check for propper power supply before fault finding.
You are the savior last time i remember you
Nice repair video 👍
Your ok sounds like ogay :)
when you being nice guy they will take the opportunity to take the advantage to make you losing money that's make me hate to give an extra good service
its a china charger
Delta Electronics, genuine OEM.
Glad to see you back!!

So the more somebody can pay for an item the more you can charge them? To confirm how much to charge, just ask a bunch of other like-minded guys, sounds reasonable.
Hello.. I have a lenovo charger that malfunctioned due to an electrical problem, it became electrifying when you touch the usb.. can it be fixed? And how is the way to fix it.. Lenovo G50-80 laptop
First check your domestic power supply earthing! It's most likely culprit!
@@Aneesh.Asokan The electrical failure in the house was fixed, but the charger did not work
@@samerali2023 Does it have three pins & there's connection from the earth prong to the charger power supply in connector? I ask because in some chargers even if having three pins, the earth prong is simply a fancy without any connection! I have seen this problem in some chargers! If you are not familiar, the easiest solution is try a replacement charger & see if it's ok before going ahead with the purchase!
@@Aneesh.Asokan Thank you for the reply and the feedback.. In fact, I did not understand much what you mean, you know that the electrical conductors may differ from one country to another, or even the names, but in short, my charger broke down due to an electrical fault, I do not know if it is repairable, the charger connector contains two pins, I have another with 3 pins, I tried both and the USB still gets electric.
You are very unprofessional arguing with the shop owner about a repair that you actually got wrong, on this occasion.
they get into fist fights on the regular
Always diagnose the laptop before
Charging any money , diagnose cost 15€ if they don’t want a repair. An when they do repair diagnose it’s for free
Thanks u so much
Brilliant man good lesson
Great show.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT
Not professionally? I don't think... if the customer doens't want to fix the issue .. no problem. Give him the laptop as is.... sometimes i receive laptops with brocken power connector because the customer tried and tried to plug the connector destroying it... but the fault maybe is a mosfet or a cap.
Grande lição...
good job mate.
you cannot always state the price before diagnosing , i think its absolutely fine to call the customer and to tell him that there is a bigger issue , and ask him if he wants to repair or not... no problem there
