I had trouble with mine after I had it for a few days, long story short, it kept showing a black screen after contacting the very help full service dept, they were about to send a replacement when I found out that if I put a cable tie around the button over night I was able to upload the firmware and it worked again

    • @fcallum77
      @fcallum77 2 года назад +2

      The problem with lines down or across the screen is that a ribbon cable with many, many soldered connections is what connects the LCD panel to the driver board. The issue is that one of the solder connections is detached but it's very hard to diagnose which one of 160 for example points has failed. Even if you do, soldering the cable back is even harder although not impossible I guess if you hold it down with tweezers and heat from the other side of the board.

    Actually, there is no need to supply voltage to find the short circuit on the b+ line.
    The red probe is on the b+ line and the other black probe is in contact with the coils. multimeter should be in ohm range. Which coil has a low value, there is a short circuit on that line. and generally upper mosfet or condenser with short circuit

    Sorin, whats the consequences like now that you removed that dodgy CAP and the laptop came back to life. I mean how you suppose to know, what that CAP was suppose to do there, it's like a protection circuit that now it's not working? Maybe it's something to keep the current in that circuit more stable?
    All i want to know is, if the laptop is working fine without that capacitor, what it was doing there in the first place?
    what am i missing here?
    P.S. I have seen many times,that a solution is by removing a smd like this one, im not sure if you can do the same if that wasn't a cap and it was a resistor.
    Keep it going, you're the most real/honest/good technician on youtube.

    • @Arvidje
      @Arvidje 2 года назад

      a cap has a connection with the ground, when the cap is dead, it will be shorted to ground in most times..The function of a cap is holding the voltage a bit , some sort of fuel tank.. the reason for that cap is, smooth out and filtering the current, its limiting the "spikes". Because there are a lot of caps on each power supply, u have enough fuel left to run a laptop proper stable.. U cant remove a resistor without replacing it, your will get a open cirucuit and the laptop will not start.

    Watching this, trying to troubleshoot why my Nitro 5 N18C3 AN515-54 is having a hard time running on the AC Adaptor. At about 4 months old it started randomly dropping to 'on battery'. Went to 89% battery power and seemed to stay there for the next 10 months. Then overnight it completely discharged. I tested the adaptor and it was bad - so I replaced the adaptor.
    With the new adaptor, the battery indicator flips back and forth between of 'on battery' and 'charging'. It does not feel like there is a good click-connection when either the old adaptor, or the replacement, is inserted. If I put a little pressure one way or another (not consistent) on the plug into the laptop the 'charging' works for more than 1 or 2 seconds. The longest I've gotten it to 'hold' the charging status is about 20 minutes, and that was after much unplug/replug.
    I've seen several complaints online that are very similar to my experience.
    Is it possible that these laptops were shipped with bad adaptor ports? Could the bad port have contributed to the failure of my OEM AC adaptor?
    Unsure if the way I use this laptop is contributing to the problem. I bought it thinking it would have the necessary power. I don't do gaming, but I run a HD wide angle webcam to livestream 12 hours daily via OBS and youtube, run the laptop monitor and a secondary monitor, wired keyboard, wired mouse. Has a GeForce GTX 1650. I'm also a heavy user of internet for research - sometimes have 20 or so tabs open in the browser (Brave). I don't think any of this should cause power problems, but doing the troubleshooting, have shut down OBS and the livestream, and minimizing windows and other background apps. Doesn't seem to make much of a difference, but after 4 hours of messing with the adaptor and port this morning, have finally gotten the battery recharged to 97%.
    Have ordered a third adaptor, just in case its a manufacturing error that both the OEM and the replacement adapter are experiencing, but is there a way to check the adaptor port?

      That capacitor is acting as a filter, in a more technical way of saying it's used as a way to remove the AC component of a line as much as possible. The computer will work without that filter but obviously you're sending that unfiltered power to places it shouldn't go to so that degrades the life spam of the device by a bit.
      That's a classic example of a "secondary component", the device will work without secondary components but the reason they exist is just to increase the life spam of the circuitry.

      That model is known for completely non fused(no protection to CPU lines or KBC chip, NONE) in any way board from USB ports to other ones and dead KBC or in worst case fried CPU is a normal thing in those. Plus whole shell is usually falling apart - palmrest and hinges thus shredding DC IN wires. If it went bad just throw it away I'm serious. G50 series was junk from the start.

      This tiny capacitor is not that important
      if you take one its not a big problem

      Sometimes the capacitor no need to change & leave blank, but if u still change that, it's better
