Hi Sorin! Don't underestimate the theory. It is very useful to us. To the people who have not studied electrical engineering we are very helpful. Please continue with the theory too. For example, I did not know that at full short the power supply will show 0 volts and at partial short will show 2 - 3 volts. The theory and schemes you draw are very useful to me. Greetings from Bulgaria.
another outstanding video Sorin! you give us insight to your troubleshooting methods and a good understanding of what we see when we take time to look.. I thank you for all of the time you take for us not only on these you tube videos but on discord also plus the various other platform you are on.. You will live on long after you are gone because all of the kids here will carry your shared knowledge down the years.. and who know who they will pass it to... as spock used to say "live long and prosper" Sorin!

Surely the skill is in diagnosing the fault, rectifying it and understanding what caused the fault in the first place ! Anyone can swap a part like for like. Professionalism is understanding to the minutest detail 'cause and effect.' Absolutely fascinating Sir !!!
Amazing. I have decided to watch your very first video till now. I'm glad that i have learnt alot of things, many that an engineering school could not teach. My desktop unfortunately decided to die on me during this period where repair shops aren't open and I cant wait to test what i've learned from you and apply it on my desktop. Cheers Sorin ;)
Thank'you for sharing your experience. Learn the technique to find the faults is really very difficult. Your lessons are the most interesting TV series of the moment.
nice video sir.. i learnt a lot today... were still waiting for desktop motherboard repair... the step by step just like u did on laptop mobo... more power! greeting you great day from philippines!
Best electronics and life teacher. Thanks for teaching me allot of things sir! To those who really want to learn repair, learn electronics first, then learn to repair and improve through experience.
Hi Sorin, I'm going through rough time and I had to stop my patreon support. I just want to thank you again for all the knowledge you shared and once I will be back on my feet I renew the patreon pledge.
I make a playlist because of this video....Best of...videos.you are grand ....you are titan... you are godlike level .respect.one more time.... thank you Sorin
Initial my school laptop costed 700€: i7, 16GB Ram, 940 graphic card 2GB, 500GB HDD 128GB SSD. The hinge broke down and my screen acted funny. I started to diagnose and figured out putting pressure on my screen/ screen chip at the bottom made it go away. but came back after a while. So I first repaired the hinge with 3 small bolts. And then changed the screen for 100€. I also changed my HDD with 500GB SSD Samsung EVO. Glad to do it because a new computer would cost me 1000€+ for a decent one. In total I wasted 200€ so 700+200 = 900€. Build up experience and also always had my laptop available for school. Mostly this is because of people like you sir. Made me realize nothing to be afraid of and just analyse and repair carefully.
sir i very impressed about your skills and knowledge experience what ever really its awesome to learn from you sir till know i watched your all videos each one has different and unique and i had good learning improvement the way to handle and diagnose the faults unfortunately i in India if there i will carry my journey with you sir any way thanking you very much for good skills like this
Thanks for sharing amazing skill Keeping the process of repair simple and straight forward Knowing what can’t work and Finding what will Really appreciate you giving your time to teach Maybe you could tell me if that electric screwdriver is worth getting Or not?? If it is , would you post the brand Regards Mark
referring to the things you pointed out at the start of the video, i used to fix computers from a very young age , not really know what i was doing theoretically , but i knew that if i did "thins thing" on "the other thing" things would work again (i read and watched many sources online and videos like yours XD) , but my customers and ALL customers in my country ... think that are always right , demand of warranty like 100+ years , and sometimes they even tell you how to fix the things when they have no idea about them, i remember that once i literally explained to someone for half an hour about his iPod that had a cracked screen and how i could not find an original screen for it because the model was way to old for the local part suppliers to have Original parts in stock and the customer just said to me "well since you cant find original parts for it then you are not a good repair guy!" .. and what do you expect from a guy fixing things at home .... of course they went to the trusted apple reseller and they got a straight big NO , and when returned they got a big NO from me also ... then shortly after i quit self learning electronics and changed my career plans , now it looks like i am starting to like it again thanks to this channel , maybe i will start self teaching again soon as a hobby , and i hope that the people changed and can understand better now :)
My highest respects goes to you,I love you my teacher, your videos are inspiring ,and have teach me a lot.I have a question this smd capacitor have no value written on it how do you know what value capacitor to use.Thank you beforehand.

Well always well when Explain you make everything easier 😃 but it is only when I work on my MB I always find it difficult .... bah I'm trying to learn for the moment! ok Mr. Sorin, I have 1 question if there are 7v on the second mosfet and not 19v what was the problem?
HI SORIN GREAT JOB.WHY DONT YOU USE THE NEW PORTABLE POWER SUPPLY THAT YOU HAVE TO DO DEMOS WITH,I HAVE ONE LIKE THAT, AND ON YOUR NEXT VIDEO WILL YOU USE IT, I GET CONFUSED ON THE AMP SETTING WHEN YOU INJECT AMPAGE INTO THE MOTHERBOARD,
Hello Sorin ! I have an issue with an faulty display on my Lenovo Y50-70 laptop. Long story short: Everything was ok, laptop fell around 20 cm height on a bed: Black screen of death! Everything else works perfect, including camera on display. I have illuminated the screen with a bright light and the image is theren but very very dim. What could be? Is it posiible to be a cable problem, or something more complex? Multumesc frumos! Very nice channel an very nice information here!
Why don’t. You have to use a lower testvoltage on the second mosfet to detect that there is an short? If a switching mosfet from power supply (from for example the cpu) is also blown and permantly giving power than the cpu receives this 19v voltage also. Or am I wrong some where in this case? can anyone explain
i have a asus laptop that as had the mosfet removed and when i unplug the charger from the mains the charger light stays on lol as its sending current down the dc socket back to the charger
Unlike these motherboards which has the charger connector n initial circuit integrated. what to do if the circuit is separate removable...n whenever i connect the charger the light on the charger trips off... its a sony vaio laptop...
Best teacher ever, May God bless you for giving us your precious times

Златко Златев can’t agree more
Just be sure to limit your power supply to 2 amps otherwise you'd melt the partial short

Terrific diagnostic you made it look so simple with the drawing
Thank you very much for your detailed explanation, it's very much appreciated!
Probably would never have understood these things, if it wasn't for your great videos. Thanks very many
I got me one of the screw drivers like you are using. It has been very good for the tendon in my thumb.
Hey good day man I must say thank you to you.... I learned soo much from videos. Easy to understand.

Very interesting and very good talk/video.
Thanks for the picture of the circuit. I wish you would have talked about how the coil works within a power rail.
No need to explain yourself about your tactics, you've proved yourself again and again!!

Sorin i always enjoy your repairs, that shop is lucky to have you :-D.
Replace the mosfet... ha ha that's a good one :-D
admit it, that burned mosfet still working as a wire, looks better on the board compared with a boring wire :))
@@electronicsrepairschool LOL :-D
Somehow I don't believe you'll replace the blown up mosfet :)
I think it got replaced by a proper calibrated fuse 😁
Mr give me one second another helpful video thank you

I thought the same, you should buy a thermal camera.
Good video!
Nah, he could maybe pour some alcohol on and see it evaporate (it will evaporate quicker on hotter components)
Hey Sorin, you can start a patreon goal for the thermal cam! We may save your fingers from burning :)
thx for the great content!
idk, i kinda like it :P The skin burn is the price i have to pay for finding the fault :))

ok Mr. Sorin,
I have 1 question if there are 7v on the second mosfet and not 19v what was the problem?
Hi Sorin happy to see you again , i have a question about the graphic chip : can we do the reballing of the chip manually ? Is it possible ?
Terimah kasih
Thanks so much, pls can I get a detail video on good usb port but not working for any laptop
Thanks a-lot

Did you ever replace the mosfet or add a new capacitor? If not, is it safe for the other components to not put new ones on or not?

Will power supply check work on HP. As far as I remember it has to have 2 different voltages: one for identification and one for power ?
HI SORIN GREAT JOB.WHY DONT YOU USE THE NEW PORTABLE POWER SUPPLY THAT YOU HAVE TO DO DEMOS WITH,I HAVE ONE LIKE THAT, AND ON YOUR NEXT VIDEO WILL YOU USE IT, I GET CONFUSED ON THE AMP SETTING WHEN YOU INJECT AMPAGE INTO THE MOTHERBOARD,

instead of removing the mosfet and putting a wire couldent you use a Diode to stop the volts from going back into the dc soket and down the charger
i have a asus laptop that as had the mosfet removed and when i unplug the charger from the mains the charger light stays on lol as its sending current down the dc socket back to the charger
mau tanja kalau garis putih disampaing mosfet apa gunanja terimakasih
How was he able to measure the amps between power supply pin and ground at 9:30?
Can you do this with a voltmeter too somehow?
nice nice nice repair
Unlike these motherboards which has the charger connector n initial circuit integrated. what to do if the circuit is separate removable...n whenever i connect the charger the light on the charger trips off... its a sony vaio laptop...
what screw driver is that you are using and is it worth it?
I don't really get his explanation at 13:10 about why it is ok to remove the mosfet and short it. Can someone explain this?
how much degree are you using when you are removing the component ?
on a dell laptop the second mosfet heats up to the point of smoking but when i take out the current resistor it stops. what could be the problem?
