DIY Workshop Dust Collection System

- Using the Oneida Cyclone Dust Deputy, a 20 gallon Eagle container and my old Craftsman shop vac to create a DIY mobile workshop dust collection system. The system uses a 20 gallon dust storage container versus the normal 5 gallon container to provide added storage capacity between emptying. All mounted on a mobile cart having large wheels to enable mobility around the shop, garage or yard and still be able to roll easily over floor obstruction such as air hoses, extension cords or debris on the floor.

Great build. The most functional & user friendly shop vac & dust collecting cart I’ve seen. Great helpful video of a stylish project. Thanks.
Neat! Love how you added in mounts for all the shop vac accessories. Also, really appreciate the list of parts: makes ordering all the stuff from Amazon much easier for me!
Thanks for the vid!
I’ve been looking at making a dust collector cart and your idea of using a remote control unit is genius! A great cart build, All the best from the UK
Wow! That is beautiful! The craftsmanship is apparent as well as the thought and planning that went into this project. Great work!
Robert, that is ingenious! Much better than filling up a small shop with duct work to collect sawdust. This rolls right to the work. Well done! I'll be making one of these for my shop. Thanks!
I really appreciate the time you took in adding storage and the extras. I usually just want to do projects like this as quickly as possible. No paint. No fancy handles. I think I will challenge myself to take some time and build something better. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you, thank you, for doing your project with simple hand tools that just about everyone has. I tire quickly watching DIY videos where the person has thousands of $’s worth of expensive wood shop tools to do a project like yours. You made something that anybody could make themselves and be proud of what thee made as you should be.
I have been researching dust collection for a while now, and this just cemented my decision on the dust deputy. awesome build man. I have three of those furniture carts in my garage!
Glad the video helped. The wheels alone would cost more than the cart and guess what, you got a base to mount your assembly already done. Good luck.
well done sir. i just started using the dust deputy and i love it, now a build like this is the works, thank you, enjoy your retirement
Love the video, it was explained in layman's terms and any new DIYer would have a great dust collector following these plans. Thanks Robert
A great build Robert. Looks fantastic and extremely neat , works very well. An excellent project.
Love the build Robert. The yellow color is perfect too. Thanks for posting.
A cyclone separator on a dust extractor really is a great idea as about 99% of the dust is captured so the extractor's filter and dust bag stays much cleaner for much longer, so there's never any loss in suction and in the long run you save lots of money on filters and vac bags. A definite must have in a woodworking workshop for both power tool use and general cleaning up.
ishortland I agree. I am surprised they have not comeup with a shop vacuum cleaner with an integral cyclone feature.
Great Project, Great Video and Great Colour. I Can't believe that only 2 people have commented on this video, it's one of the better ones I have seen on RUclips. Take Care, Barry from England.
Looks like something you would buy from a supplier, very well designed, thanks for posting this.
Very Nice. The color is great. If Sharon wants to do more cleaning, my shop always needs the help. Well done.
Thanks Robert for the demo I just finished mine and it came out great. Keep up the good work, thanks again
You sir are very inventive and practical. I have been doing minor research for my small shop and best way to have a mobile (multiple tools) unit that I can pack away and pull out when needed.... thank you for the great idea and very helpful and practical video. Would love to share a drink with you and pick your inventive mind. Thanks Sir!!
Elegant solution Robert, thank you for posting. I am doing the same, but I purchased the 14 gallon Eagle container off Amazon, a bit more compact and lots of other Dust Deputy users have uses the 14 gallon.
Mr. Robert, this is a great idea and I will be doing one very similar in a few days! I just ordered the barrel. Primary use will likely be at my lathe and for general cleanup in my shop.
Great Job Mr. Wadlington! You took it to another level all together.... Great ideas... Love the added color too....You've got me thinking about souping my Craftsman wet vac up!
Glad you liked and go with your idea to enhance your version of the project.
It is a nice build and a good version of all the vac systems I have seen yet.
Thank you for the video.
By far the most practical version of these type of dust collectors I have seen on RUclips. Well done and thank you.
Thanks.
Wow is right! That's one of the nicest carts I've seen. You did a terrific job and I think I'll make one like it. Thank you.
Sweet choice of music! From an Oregon boy(72 years old).
Robert, thanks a million for this DIY project. This will be my next project before I tackle my Paul Sellers workbench. Reg.
Well done! Nice video, love the "all in one" concept, and mobility too😃
Everything on this cart is very handy... Great job!!! I'll be making one when I get finished moving. I already have the dolly.
This is a great design. Gotta do one of these with my Ridgid shop vac. I use it mostly for collecting from routers, sanders, and general shop cleanup, and this will make it much more efficient. Thanks!
That addresses a lot of questions I had for making a dust collection cart. I may use a retractable extension cord. I'm going to look up your one year update. I want to see your pros and cons
Nicely done!!!! I like the product ... and I like that you seem to have fun doing it! Thanks for sharing.
Sure enjoyed your build, has inspired me to build one. Great craftsmanship so please keep the videos coming thanks a bunch.
Hello Robert...Just wanted to say thank you for an awesome project! KUDOS!!!!
This is pure genius! I will be doing this in my garage
Great job Robert. I love the hand. I made a 14" dia piece of wood about 1/2" thick to go on the top of the container and I screwed it from the bottom. It worked just fine with the cheap Chinese version of the dust deputy about 23 dollars. It worked just fine.
i dont really know how i ended up on the wood working part of youtube but its fascinating what all people can make. from what i have gathered so far this little setup seems like it would be VERY handy to have around.
FFS, I was gonna do exactly this build...amazing this popped into my feed. Now I know the 20 gal container can handle the suction. Dude thanks, I'm doing this next weekend. Mine will just be the collector and the dolly...perfect.
Robert that is by far the best dust collector build I have seen.

That's a pretty sharp looking system. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Very cool project. I like how it turned out.
Excellent design and execution. I am inspired to build my own. Thank you.
awesome job! i have been looking around at several options for a few years and haven't found a big enough barrel cause I to feel that a five gallon bucket wasn't enough especially as much as I use it. thanks so much for the video
Very creative, Robert. Nice job.
Nice cart Robert, and War Eagle!
This looks like it would be perfect for my own shop. Thanks for making the video and sharing it!
It looks good. Most others are so tall that they look like they would tip over real easily. Yours looks much more stabil.
Robert, You are one crafty rascal. Now I am going to have to make one of those for my shop. Thanks for sharing.
Hope it inspires you to do one better :-)
I just saw your video ... Great job looks like I'm going to have another project Thanks
A big shout out to the hand. Management. Good thing you didn't say I am going to put it on a necklace for you.
I would do something like that... Your a smart man
Nice Cart Robert, thanks for sharing
Love it! Too cool! I just bought a Dust Deputy and I'm excited to get it now
Very well done. Love that 20 gal container but my area is to small to handle that -Great Job well done
Nice cart. I'm happy to see that I'm not the only person frustrated that furniture dolleys are cheaper than 4 wheels. lol... Everything in my shop is on wheels so I curse often.
Man I love the idea and application. Well done . Thanks for sharing
Excellent project, and wonderful use of materials, very creative....

Hello from Brasil! You are very creative and did a nice finneshed work, congratulations! Today few people have this quality.
Well dam Robert ... this is a pretty kool system . Love it. Thanks.
Great Job on the dust collector!
I’ve been also taking advantage of the harbor freight dollies whole or disassembled for mobile bases.
Nice job
akiva zohar, a see another ‘Reuser’ among us👍
Hey man, awesome cart. Great ideas on the storage!
Great video! I'll most likely be using it to build the dust collector in my small shop.
You, sir, are the Man! Appreciation from New Zealand...
Radical Jack, thanks for watching and I appreciate the long distance comment from New Zealand 🇳🇿
CGWP, I respond to all. Thank you for the great comments. I need to set myself to a weekly routine to check viewer's comments. Oh yah, my shop if you call it that ismso so small my tour video would be less thannone minute; mainly power hand tools.
Thanks Barry.
Great Job Robert, I love it!
Love the music. Refreshingly different, and not heavy metal. Thank you
Just ordered a cyclone and looking for ideas for my shop vac/dust collector project. I will be incorporating some of your's for sure! War Eagle!
Very nice upgrade to the system.
Nice job. Im thinking of making one. Thanks for sharing.
James, Please do. From what I did, add your imagination to enhance and improve. Loved to see your DIY project on RUclips.
Sweeeeeeeet setup, Robert! Definite thumbs up.
