    This was my first ever gun, five years ago in 2017 when I was 13. Put around 2000 pellets through it since then (never serviced/maintained once) and despite some scuffs on the wood it’s still as effective as it was all those years ago. I will always have respect for this gun, I love it.

      I was going to buy this but the guy in the shop convinced me to get the gamo whisper thing. It was for my girlfriend, we took it to the range and it was dieseling badly and the gamo scope it come with was nothing but a paper weight that wouldn't hold zero at all. Really wish I didn't listen and bought the Hatsan, they're the best cheap guns now I think.

    Hi everybody picked up one of these 2nd hand for a work colleague who wanted to start shooting in .177. I stripped it down and greased up the spring as they tend to run them dry , I also got a longer trigger adjustment screw , once back together it was quieter and the longer trigger screw removed pretty much all the creep from the trigger ! I took it for a test up Pete's and was totally shocked by it , with open sights I was hitting 25mm groups at 25 yards and fitted with a scope was doing the same size groups at 35 yards for such a cheap rifle I was amazed . By the way the longer adjustment screw tip works with a lot of stoeger rifles as well .

    Purchased one of these last year, the screw was done up so tight I couldn’t cock the gun without a lot of brute force, had to use a hammer driver to undo it, sorted that out but the trigger was a hard pull, the seers were like the edges of a file, bit of work with a Dremel and some molly paste, cracking little rifle now, 35 yard flip over targets easy now. Best £95 I’ve spent in ages.

    I've got the Hatsan Striker 1000x in 0.25, 18ish ft/lbs here in Spain. Very similar gun but a big bigger. I paid €95 delivered, it was a little rough so I stripped it, plenty of fettling and lubrication to the system and trigger group. Now it's an absolute belter. Very powerful and shoots really sweet. Hatsan actually sell gasrams to go in them as an upgrade but I haven't felt the need yet.
    One thing to note, it needs a few pellets down it to get accuracy sorted. Mines is also a big pellet fussy but once you get the right ones it's an absolute gem. Along with the CP2 one of the best deals in airgunning

    Very light, and very easy to cock, too.
    It's perhaps a little unfair to do a 40m accuracy test on such a light springer, but it was not too bad. I'd limit my 900x to 30 yards if using on live quarry, just for peace of mind.
    But a great little gun, with build quality that meets the likes of Gamo and BSA springers.

    I own a Hatsan TG AirTact QE 4,5mm. Purchased last year in October. It had 11J out of the box and struggled to hit pargets bigger then 5cm diameter over 25m. Until a nice dude on facebook gave me a contact to a good shop to do a proper first maintenance on it. The piston was all dirty and covered in grease etc. After a proper wash and lube + some sanding of the less refined edges out of the factory... the rifle came up as 14,85 J on the chrono. And I'm able to put 8 out of 10 shots in a 7mm diameter group on 30m. It's the same with cheap bikes- the more you love them- the more they give back to you. ;)

    You reminded me of my first break barrel, an SMK b2 springer; it was a nice little airgun when I got it, but the person who gave it to me managed to drop a tool box on it two days after they gave it to me, buckling the barrel and damaging the hinge point in the process.
    Sadly, the cost of repairing it is about the same as buying a replacement, so it's little more than a wall ornament now and since I already own three other airguns (two pcp rifles and a co2 pistol), I doubt I'll get another springer in the forseeable future

    I have an American take on this, called the "Crosman" and it will definitely kill errant squirrels. I trued using a Crosman C02 pistol. It was a very accurate rifled barrel "python" looking revolver with schofield type break barrel. I used it for tin can shooting in my basement. Even with pellets and a fresh co2 can, it was just injuring them, even at relatively close range. It think the break barrel has like 3 times the velocity (1200fps).

    • @Saiko_PATH
      @Saiko_PATH 2 года назад +1

      Are you refering to the DPMS Classic A4 from Crosman? I got that one also and that has breakbarrel yes, but! Its also using Nitro piston technology and can reach the 1200fps mark, but only with light pellets. I wouldnt call it a "springer" anymore at this point. The Nitro Piston technology is whats putting it ahead of other normal breakbarrel/springer type rifles imo.

    I like a chunk of wood on a rifle, far more traditional in my book. Looks a nice little plinker and good starting point for anyone that wants to have a go at tuning on a budget. I've had hatsans in the past and had mixed results. I found the .22's less accurate than the .177 but the build quality was industrious! The trigger's were always nice and predictable which is also a good thing. For the cost, I will probably get one of these just for the fun factor in the garden.
    Quick question....do Vector stock them?
    Cheers and keep safe 👍

    I'm a newbie and just bought this rifle. I followed your shooting technique with this rifle (not holding the barrel whilst loading and just letting it sit there) and was accosted by an older gentleman on the range who scolded me for doing so - despite it being my first time shooting. He proceeded to whip out his instructor card, tell me that he teaches the scouts etc and said he's seen springers "just go off" and take peoples fingers with them due to not holding the barrel whilst loading. Is there any truth to this? Were we doing it wrong or was this gentleman a little jumpy? I'd guess he was in his 60s and I'm in my 20's, so perhaps he saw it as an opportunity to try and "alpha" somebody younger... I'm always looking to learn though, so I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts.
    He also took it upon himself to insult the sight on the rifle (it came as a package), insult the pellets I was using (RWS Domed) which I thought were not bad to be used with something like this Hatsan 900X, as well as critique my shooting technique on and off for the two hours I was on the range.

    It's strange the name Monte Carlo stock as Monaco is pretty densely populated and I wouldn't imagine firing guns there is exactly encouraged!

    Personally speaking, springers don't have as many seal problems as a pcp. Also they don't need special pumps, etc.
    They do have better sound compression, etc, but the servicing makes it not worth it.

    Good value. Considered one of these as well as well as a remington gas ram and some smk rifles. Ended up spending £215 on a weihrauch hw99s in 177. Added a 3.9.40 hawke fast mount scope amd it's accurate to at least 40 yds. Very hard to cock though and trigger guard screw keeps coming loose!

    The budget 25 caliber break barrel Hatsans nitro piston sold in the USA are terrible. I went through 2 rifles then gave up. I returned the 2nd rifle and I think I ended up getting a cheap nitro piston crosman.
    Hatsan rear sight falls apart just pushing on it with my finger. The hatsan rifle is not consistent shot to shot or day to day.
    I always wanted a Hatsan until after that experience.

    Nice review, Andy! Would you please add a little section to show if the rifle is de-cockable in the future? In my opinion, a de-cockable gun is far safer to deal with unwanted shots.

    • @engineeredlifeform
      @engineeredlifeform 3 года назад +2

      I don't think that's been an option for a long time. Most rifles have anti-bear trap mechanisms to explicitly prevent this, because you really don't want the barrel to fly about if the trigger is activated whilst loading. So it's far, far safer to just safely discharge that one round, than to allow de-cocking.

    • @cbristinebeckett7631
      @cbristinebeckett7631 3 года назад +1

      This gun does have a safety catch that can be reset, if one does not take the shot.
      De-cocking is less useful, and to be honest, in fifty years of shooting springers, I have never had the need to de-cock one.

    • @SmokingBeagles
      @SmokingBeagles 3 года назад

      I own an hw99s, aa tx200 and walther lgv and I routinely decock them to check the action and trigger and generally test it during maintenance, should I feel the need. Pretty sure you can decock any springer even with a bear-trap you just need to have a strong arm to hold back the barrel/lever when you release the trigger, and you'll need to pull and then immediately deactivate the anti bear trap if equipped with one.

    • @SmokingBeagles
      @SmokingBeagles 3 года назад

      Easier for me since I permentantly deactivated the anti bear trap on my TX200 cos it's noisy and annoying

    • @engineeredlifeform
      @engineeredlifeform 3 года назад

      @@SmokingBeagles Nope, the whole point of the anti-dear trap is to deactivate the trigger if the rifle is broken, so you can't de-cock it. It's not something you can access from the outside of the rifle. The 99s apparently doesn't have one, but most of the other HW models do.

    Remember you have to use the artillery method to get any accuracy out of any springer.
    Unlike a PCP which can shoot in the same way as a proper firearm rifle.
