2nd-year Rodman did a good defensive job against young MVP Jordan in the 1988 ECSF, their first of four head-to-head series. Rodman's length and off-ball denial did trouble Jordan, though Rodman was often over-aggressive and committed several fouls on Jordan as well.

I have Hakeem Russell and Rodman around the same, those 3 are my top 3 all-time defenders but I haven’t decided which is better than the other because it’s really close in my opinion. I believe Rodman was the most versatile defender of all-time for sure.
