Dennis Rodman Defense on Michael Jordan - 1991 NBA ECF
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 19 апр 2019
- Rodman only defended Jordan for a few isolated possessions in the 1991 ECF. Like the previous 3 series, Rodman had moments of success but was bested by Jordan most of the time.

Rodman and Jordan competition, and eventually teammates to create the scariest defensive team in history for Bulls.🐂🏆🏀
This clearly shows dennis and michael had a mutual respect for each other since the pistons days... this is the first time i saw michael helping an opponent get up!! His usually is vicious towards an opponent, but he really does have a soft spot for dennis...
Imagine if they'd have started out together.
I enjoy their bromance 😁 from pistons to bulls. mj appreciates him understood him trusts him pulled him and hugged him out of trouble . pip was mj fave teammate so rodman felt kinda undervalued at one time when he first came in and rebelled but mike fetched him out of las vegas so he knows mike want him in his team
Called respect for a fellow killer
He also had massive respect for Joe Dumars.
The respect they showed to each other is amazing..
The 1990's when the NBA still allowed Defense! In this game you have at least 4 of the GOATs of Defense -- Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, and Dumars!
Rodman was an Olympic quality athlete that happened to play basketball. He would have GOLD medaled ANY sport.
No he wasn't😂😂😂
MoobTubeTV you must not have heard the stories about Dennis Rodman’s work ethic
Synchronized swimming?
Dennis Rodman would not have a gold medal in ANY Olympic sports, including basketball since he didn’t make the dream team. Frankly, he wasn’t even good enough to make the olympics in his best sport. He was a good athlete, not an Olympic athlete.
What do you picture Dennis Rodman doing in the olympics? Beating Carl Lewis in track? Or are you talking Winter Olympics. Skiing?
You know, people specialize and train for years in each individual Olympic sport. You think Dennis Rodman would win all Olympic events? He would not qualify in anything.
You don’t need to answer these with questions btw, just want to demonstrate that your comment was stunningly idiotic.
Grill Buster simp
What MJ knew the whole time is that he couldn't get inside Dennis's head and it was a battle all the way down to the last second, that's why Mike liked Dennis due his mental & physical toughness!
Jordan and rodman didn't like each other but jordan had respect for rodman cuz of his defense and effort
Rodman owned them all, including all the big guys (Shaq included), that's why Phil Jackson brough him in, nobody talks Rodman but the guy was the real key for championship wins
miopera40 really was the Achilles heel of the bad boys and bulls
Yeah, Michael Jordan wasn’t the key, bro! Especially since he won 3 without Rodman! Cute comment!
@@grillbuster1519 Yea and dennis rodman won 2 w/out jordon.
@@perryellis9645 nobody said Rodman couldn't win without Jordan. He was addressing initial comment that was made
Both of these GOAT on their POSSITION..
If every rebounds were equal to 2 points - Rodman averaged 30+ points per night. Rodman was the Michael Jordan of rebounds.
They (Rodman & Jordan ) are master of mind games...amazing athletes..👍👍👍
Incredible defence/Basketball IQ skills by Dennis. You don't get ppl like that these days.
These were the days
Hell yea when basketball had some real super stars and they played with integrity.
Absolutely love watching highlights from my younger days , just wish the quality was as I remembered it...
These are the kind of hussle plays we love to watch, NBA today is so lame to watch, feels like the game is too easy for them now.
@Biff Danielson can't say I was a fan of hits to the head
2020 to soft!!!
@Biff Danielson is there hitting in basketball, lol
Because it is easier when the players are better
It's why Jordan's the GOAT the level of physicality is completely different. When I watch basketball I just watch old highlights it's vastly more entertaining
Jordan aknowledged that Rodman was one of the smartest players he ever played against
Pure hustle, no flopping.. I really miss this era..
The only era worth watching
@0:49 Rodman tapped Jordan then Jordan does the same to Rodman. Priceless.
rodman not afriad to argue with anyone. even shaq that one time
because rodman is crazy!
many times

best of the best can control everybody with their mind games
These guys had bones of steel and leather skin, much more than I can say about today's game.
Rodman is the most innocent soul on earth
He was an absolute animal
Greatest defender/rebounder of all time calls MJ the GOAT. That means more than all the talking heads put together.
Back in the 2000s i remember that it was the end of the local stars era in Costa Rican football, (don't worry, what I'm going to say ties into this video at the end).
What i mean by local stars, is that most great players stayed in local teams, they spent all their careers in their beloved teams, so personal rivalries were a thing back then, you really felt passion the colors of your shirt!
Since most great players didn't have offers from outside, they became icons of the fans, and when the 2 biggest teams of the country faced, it was a classic, it was actually called "the classic", and you could expect to see war and hard fouls in a classic, the fans went crazy and the players took it personal.
After Costa Rican players began to be marketed in Europe and Asia, the stars didn't exist, the commitment to the team was never the same, the great players migrated between teams every 1 or 2 seasons, it was rare to sign a contract for longer than 3 years.
That very same passion and physicality is what i see in these late 80's and early 90's Basketball matches, it's just a more engaging experience when you see guys having small fights in the court after going for the ball with all they had, both physically and mentally, being clever is part of the game, but the brawls made it even more exciting!
Yep
What a fucking competitor MJ is, he picks up the man that’s just gonna make MJ better even through the competitive conflict. This is what I live my life by
MJ and Rodman were like the Batman and Joker. They both needed each other to successfully exist.
So, instead of swimming up that stream, MJ reversed the current by bringing Rodman to his team. Genius if you ask me. What if everyone did this in life?!?!
What would be today's Cry Babies would do? if they were Guarded by Rodman with 80's Rules
These niggas was cry babies

@Alfredo Duro which video in specific?
Clash of two legends
As a kid, MJ was my idol. I watch all these Det-Chi games. I hated Dennis. But when I grew up and play, I understood. Jordan was frustrated by Rodman: not as a player, but as an athlete. Dennis was the only guy he couldn't bully physically, because the Worm was A BETTER ATHLETE. If you play, you'll understand
I love Mj but I think that's a good chase down block by Rodman
they respect each otha!!!
Dennis was the epitome of hustle in the basketball court. Full effort when playing D and grabbing rebounds. After this season, he became the best rebounder averaging 15-18 per game in the next 7 seasons.
Make basketball great again!!
Now it's all about "friendships" and been "cool" and wishing the "best" for the other guys...players in the 90s were much more grown ups...today only Giannis, Kawhi, Baverly, Embiid and Draymond who embody the 90s trash talking spirit.
Back when basketball wasn't political today's generation should jus shut up and dribble
😂
Warriors. Love the mutual butt slap 0:48. Always a mind game with the greats.
The battle between offense and defense!
Deym! Hope I was in this era.
MJ: that guy is a pain in the...
Hey Phil...get him to the bulls!!!
He is not ur bf lebum
Who told u? Ur bf lebron? 😅😅😅
“Whoever is crazy enough to fk with me is good enough to play with me” - Kobe Bryant on Matt Barnes
I agree with all the comments you put todays players in the league back then half these highlight are what they call fights today.
Pretty normal occurence when two mercurial players collide.
Greatness recognized greatness!
This is what playoff should be..💪😤😤
miss this kind of intensity
It's funny how they recommend this video to me and then the next recommended video was Jordan and Rodman greatness together lol
Why does Jordan help him up? It doesn’t seem like these two had a game where they were hating on each other. It just seems like they were jawing at each other for fun. If MJ disliked Rodman’s playing style, he wouldn’t have helped him up.
Agreed. In hindsight these two just as happy to have a tough match up as they were actually trying to win anything. MJ was showing him respect like "Good battle right there" by helping him up when he already knows he half trampled Deniis going after that ball.
MJ always said that he never had a problem with Rodman & Rodman has backed that sentiment up. They respected each other as masters of their craft. MJ’s issues were with Zeke, it was Pip who took things personal with all of them lol
@@JelaniWood It's interesting how much sportsmanship and competitiveness this shows of Michael's character. He gave Shaq the opposite advice to drive Shaq to the next level (ruclips.net/video/WkEABtchIYE/видео.html), but he does the opposite here and it really shows how great a leader MJ is. What an amazing part of the video. Very underrated.
Blue Skeptic That’s what I said, Pip had issues with damn near all of them, he took their tactics very personal. MJ has legitimate gripes with Zeke, Bill, & Mahorn. Pip still admittedly hates Zeke & probably still has a grudge against the rest outside of Rodman & Salley.
@@mr.simonphoenix7181 He became teammates with Salley on the Bulls. The only issue Pippen has is the shove by Rodman against Pippen in 1991 playoffs, that's why when they became teammates Phil Jackson said to Rodman that say Sorry to Pippen and after that they are all friends
NBA golden years
I wish I had a tv in the 90s
One of the most versatile defenders ever, could defend the best guard/wing on the opposing team and mix it up down low with the big guys.
It’s too bad we don’t have these mic’d up moments… I want to hear these heated exchanges
This when Basketball was Basketball. The glory days
There’s no way Steph curry would score on Rodman unless he shoots from behind the arc!
There is no way that players now a days would be able to handle the physical players of the 70s - 90s
Cuando en la NBA se defendía, ¡ qué espectáculo! Nada que ver con estos tiempos de Glober Trotters...
#bringbackrealbasketball
This agile rodman or the bulk rodman? Which do you prefer?
is this the 4th straight playoffs they met? first 3 piston beat the bulls?
"As if to say 'Let's forget about it.'" Yeah, right hahaha! He tapped him because Rodman was being cheeky and starting shit by tapping him first.
1:13 gifted foul
As the Pistons were fading, Rodman was only just emerging.
That's what you call make your friends close your hardest competitor closer !
when the unstoppable force meets the immovable object
Too bad you couldn't see them go at it all game! Thanks Chuck Dailey!
They don't make them like Rodman anymore.
3:28 "Mark A. challenged Pippen to a fight in the parking lot". 😤
😂 The good ol' days. These dudes are so soft today.
it was evident to Jordan that Rodman would be trouble on his way to the rings so he made sure the Bulls brought him on board. It's not exactly that you could lose with stars like Pippen, Rodman, Kerr, Harper, Kukoc etc in the lineup.
To this day, people still misunderstand basketball as a one man show...you cannot talk about a single GOAT in a team game.
Jordan: you should be on my team
Dennis: likely
If only the NBA was this interesting nowadays. Sad
i love you mj
They’re all good players and did good jobs
When Michael Jordan says he wants you on your team after playing against you, them you know you are Goated
You'd been better to say "the try of defense of Rodman on Jordan..."
The real battle for rebounds...
Back on those days, its No blood no foul rule..
the best players
Rodman was true warrior !!!
0:12 Jordan was chewing bubble gum and blowing a bubble.
Rodman had plenty of moments of success and got into even his head a bit
Can't watch today's basketball. This is when it was good. That why Jordan is the GOAT. Take a punch to the chin and still score 50 points. Had to be tough to take it to the paint might just get knocked on your butt. Loved the motor of a young Dennis Rodman in the Piston days he never stopped gave it his all.
Rodman was a great defender, but Jordan a greater offensive player.
If the same exact game was played now, there would be 34 more foul calls for these hand checks
Damn how long hubie brown been commentary?
A very long time. What's amazing is his voice sounds the same. He was old then. It's like he's always been old.
Hubie is awesome.
That glass rule was terrible! Rodman would of had nice block!
Remember kids Jordan didn't quit bulls for a superteam.
He didn’t need to having a complete team where teammates doing what they’re suppose to do
Jordan’s heart rate = 179
Rodman’s heart rate = 79
Possibly peak offense vs peak defense going head to head.
Yes
Rodman his best here
Heap sees, but only a few knows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve never observed any other player better than Michael Jordan. !!!!!!! Period
I see why Jordan wanted Rodman on his team
Fuck i loved Dennis Rodman.
Basketball at its best!!!
MJ the only guy conquered DR by his competitiveness hardly
how the hell did he reach that goal tend in time is my question.
''When Rodman played against MJ, he was dirty. When Rodman played in Chicago, he was a nice guy.'' MJ fans
No. PISTON DEFENSE (not just Rodmans') was violent and despised by the league. Players like RODMAN and ARTEST are hated by every other team but loved by their own team. That's just how it is.
Yes he was, because the Pistons played dirty, those are simply the facts. Everybody hated the Pistons.
@@Samito07 Yeah and everybody loved him when he played for Chicago because 'everybody' is Chicago fans.
@TXxxD Must be hard for you since your hospital turned to Covid center but still don't mix whiskey with Valium.
Only fate they become teammates later on
Jordan didn't request a trade after how many times being beaten by this Pistons. Just saying
But he got Rodman lol.
Kinda like KD telling prime draymond (but on steroids)
to come to OKC after the 2016 loss.
@@maljones1398 nah he got Rodman during the 2nd 3peat.
What defense?
Rodman smiling like he thought of a funny joke
Jordan conflicts with rodman. Then became his teammate. Wins a chip.
Kobe conflicts with Artest. Then became his teammate. Wins a chip
I see.
Real athletes 80' 90', today's NBA real actors

Mj: doesn't give a shit, LMFAO 🤣
All the tricks of The Trade. Mind games... It starts at the playground when you were young... Now they have basketball camps where everybody plays nice
Wow real basketball for a chance
Why are people comparing draymond to this guy?
1:40 mj cat like quickness
All this and no mention of the 1990 Jordan rule by Pistons that won them the championship ?
Usually bullshit call againts Rodman. That Jordan referee duo was real.
