Ted Gärdestad was a Swedish singer, songwriter and musician. In 1971 he signed with the Swedish label Polar Music. Assigned with in-house producers Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, Ted worked closely with the four members of ABBA to create his debut album. As Polar Music's best-selling solo artist (aside from ABBA), he continued to work with the group members throughout the 1970s, releasing three more albums. Ted left the music business during the 80s to return in the 90s with new music and yet another album. Ted died the 22nd of June 1997 at the age of 41.
    Lyrics:
Babe, when I was a child
Oh, I slept in the cradle
    Now my living is wild
Wo, I sleep where I'm able
I need a room for the night
    Some inspiration to write
One steady bed on the floor
Lord, my shoes are dirty and my feet are sore
    Love is
Love, You're makin' all the Fools
(Run around, we're doin' silly thing)
Love, You're breakin' all the rules
    Yeah yeah
Babe, I'll drown in your eyes
Oh, they're deep as an ocean
Like the sun rides the sky
    Wo, You ride my emotions
Gettin' my guitar and a pen
    Feel like a poet again
I wanna write you a song
Leave you something to remember when I'm gone
    Love is
Love, You're makin' all the Fools
(Run around, we're doin' silly thing)
Love, You're breakin' all the rules
    Yeah yeah
    Love is a funny affair
    You must beware of sadness
    Love takes your heart anywhere
You get your share of madness to
    You do
I need a room for the night
    Some inspiration to write
I wanna sing you a song
Leave you something to remember when I'm gone

Thank you for acknowledging Kenneth, so many folks don't realise he wrote the amazing lyrics and Ted the music. They were an amazing family musical machine. Tack to both, for the wonderful music!

Absolutely wonderful! I'm a fool for Ted (and his music), so not only love, but also Ted is makin' all the fools... 🥰😜💞 A happy fool at that, what would life be, without all of Ted and Kenneths lovely and brilliant songs?! More people should get a chance to enjoy them and be Ted-fools too! Love and thanks to the fabulous Gärdestad brothers! 🌹💖🌹

Ted

A cracking track very Leo Sayer in style, surprised that this didn't chart in the UK, found this track by chance, a underrated artist & songwriter, sadly didn't get the international success that he should have.

It's not accurate to say that Ted worked closely with the four members of ABBA to create his debut album as ABBA didn't exist. ABBA was indirectly started through Ted Gärdestad's music and wasn't fully established until several years after Ted's breakthrough.
A lot of ABBA's production techniques and melody writing are strongly influenced by Ted's genius, in fact, so much that without him and his brother Benny and Björn would've never learned how to write their music for ABBA.

Catchy. But you must recognize thé Polar English: Love you’re making all the fools - not something someone says if they are English first language. But still much better than I can do.

    • @treetoon_
      @treetoon_ 2 года назад +7

Actually it's a poetic statement on love, it's "Love, you’re making all the fools" which refers to the fact that fools are made by the concept of love.
