The best two days of my Barrett ownership: the day I bought it, and the day I sold it. It was a fantastic rifle. It just had too many negatives. Ammo cost, weight, muzzle blast, on and on. I actually made 30% when I sold it. I guy made me an offer I couldn't refuse. lol

I've been a shooter and collector for over 50 years, and you're no different than most of us. We've ALL had our regrets and guns which definitely did not live up to the hype. It's part of our journey. However, as a lifelong Sako fan, keep the .500! Great video Brother!

Bought a Ptr-91 to retire my model 94 in 30-30 from hog service. Thing doesn’t group worth a damn. Tried everything from 150gr all the way to 200gr bullets. Tried acc 2495, benchmark and even wasted some varget. No matter what I try it hates everything except the 200gr eld with varget. That gets me a 2 inch group at 50 yards. $1400 for a 4 moa rifle at best is the grandest heartbreak of gun buying I’ve ever experienced. Not to mention all the components wasted.

I can justify every firearms purchase I’ve ever made. There are some that are completely impractical and many that do exactly what another does but have a slightly unique feature that makes them indispensable. Collecting is a hobby that sneaks up on you and becomes a lifestyle. Every one of my acquisitions was made with the caveat that I can sell this to get that, or that i can thin the herd if i get too many, or trade ‘up’ to the next best version. What I’ve learned over the last 15 years? I haven’t sold any, I won’t thin the herd and I can’t trade one for another. I can justify every firearms purchase I’ve ever made. I appreciate your channel Mr. Who. Cheers.

When my son bought his first rifle that cost him more than a few hundred bucks. He didn’t realize he was going to need a good scope. He put a cheap scope on. So I surprised him with a crimson trace hardline pro. I’m not much of a gun nut but glass I will definitely look into heavily. As a bowhunter glass is very important to me. I came across the hardline pro and he loves it

Great video Hootey. My problem isn’t regretting the guns that were exy. My regrets have always been the ones I sold! I had an entire Sako collection that I decided to sell because there was so much coin in these that just were never getting used. The irony is that today I have more guns than I ever have!!! I remember the Sako 85 500 Jeffrey video you made and always wondered what happened to that. Again great video and thanks for sharing! 🙏

I knew from the beginning that the .50 BMG was the one you regret. I remember when you got it, and how you had hoped to get all these views that never came. I remember when you decided to retire the .338 Lapua from appearing on the channel for the most part. And, of course, when you mentioned that there was one you forgot that 's more expensive than the .338, I knew it was the elephant gun. Just been following your channel for that long. Not even sure how long it's been. I missed you at NRA Indianapolis in 2023, and in 2019.

So I have been thinking about your question around video ideas. You have a decent collection of firearms now and one thing I have been interested in recently is how different of the shelf ammo performs in various firearms. I'm not even a hunter and I find the information very interesting. It might be interesting to do a series on "what does it like to shoot?" for your various Boo-lot slingers!

My regrets are the ones I didn't buy. I could have bought a Mossberg Super Goose 10 gauge with a 38" barrel at a really cheap price, but talked myself out of it because of the cost of ammo if one could even find any and where would I use it, but it was so cool. A regular Jed Clampett viddles getter. Dang it

    Hey Adam...
I tried to send you what ended up being an overly long text regarding both the .500 Jeffrey and your .50 Bmg Barrett... and whether or not you (or someone you know) reloaded for the.50 Bmg? It also mentioned that both the importer (Huntington) and the company that makes the best fmj projectiles on the planet... recently was involved in a wildfire that burned the company manufacturing facilities to the ground and the loss was too extensive for them to recover from!
On top of that there have been several very serious medical issues that have precluded any trigger time or even reloading for close to 2 years. You have been an inspiration in more ways than you know for many of us. The 2nd point of the text had to do with doing a paper plate test (or other medium)...to see how they compare).
P.S. I have mentioned before that I developed a wildcat .50/416 Rigby that has a case capacity that is almost identical to that of the Jeffrey round and I was able to easily reach muzzle energies from 10,000 - 12,000 ft. lbs.,
In a 32" barreled railgun that I designed for it! It has the advantage of being compatible with actions and bolt faces that are designed for the Lapua!
Your Jeffrey is a treasure that's not even breathing hard reaching 7,000 ft. lbs., though for obvious reasons I'm pretty sure that you feel that it's more than enough! Thanks for all you do and let me know if I can be of help!
(P.S.: Your 'we Tried Everything' video with the .50 versus the .75" AR500 plate was responsible for a lot of tests with a .300 RUM that was eye opening and it was my favorite of all your videos. It also set a benchmark for comparisons across U-tube!

Those are all awesome rifles. Would not regret buying any of them. You’re lucky you can take them to them to the range. I go to a public range for one reason, to BS with other people who like to shoot. It’s very rare I’ll a “standard or average” firearm with me. I have enough private land if I just want to shoot. So I always take big bores. 338 lapua, 45/70, 500, 460.. etc. If the range isn’t busy they will let me shoot the 338 lapua but that the max they allow. If it is busy I cannot shoot it.

I think everyone who collects firearms probably has at least a couple impractical ones that we spent too much on. In my case, I console myself with the fact that my biggest regret continues to increase in value, so I could sell it at a profit if necessary. But I generally don’t ever sell guns unless I have concerns about a firearm’s reliability.

I think that the Sako .50 is a more "useful" rifle than the Barrett, unless you shoot at AFVs... Probably would be a better "sniper", too.

You can hear the smoothness of the Sako bolt in the video. You plan on hunting elephants?

Okay, please correct me if I'm wrong, but that Savage 110 seems to have the brake on upside down. I'm pretty sure the way it's positioned right now would cause increased muzzle rise.

Just wondering if you have been reloading your 50BMG and the price difference between reloading and off the shelf price? Been watching for years I've got a few budget friendly guns from watching your show been happy with what I've got.

What does the Sako weigh? Sounds like you should get into hand loading. With some good hardcast bullets, that rifle would be great on big bears. If you can't afford Africa, go to Alaska.

You need more interesting targets with the big stuff.
When you get to this stage it’s about destroying expensive stuff and with a military factor.
