Remove the sticker and place it on a piece of wax paper in the box. Then wipe it down very lightly, with a coat of gun oil. If you leave the decal on it will make a spot, uneveness, eventually in the bluing. Especially if you do take it to the range. Absolutely, save the box . So many people discard the boxes. If you ever decide to sell it, the box is a important part in the overall value.
The model 70 Super Grade is perhaps one of the finest rifles on the market. You will not be disappointed with it. When you decide to mount optics on it. Do it a favor and mount quality on it... yes it will cost you. However, it is appropriate. Talley rings and bases. Ziess, Swarovski, high quality. Apply a good quality "wood" wax to the stock and metal work. You can obtain that from Brownells. Well cared for, this rifle will be in the family for generations to come. Very nice 👌 👍 👏

Now you have a rifle that I want to see! I know the plastic, cheap rifles that put three shots in the same hole are great, but they bore me. The M70 however, features the controlled round feed, Mauser action with a manual ejector, a three position safety and thermoplastic bedding with a free floating barrel. The trigger is phenomenal and with the beautiful walnut, checkering and engraving this is a real winner. And the best part is there is no picatinny rail and the barrel isn’t threaded!!!
    You did well Adam!

@dalewells5880 i always liked m70 triggers, when i started doing some research on the m70s that i own, i found out that they have adjustable triggers, so i popped them out of the stocks and fine tuned them to my preference, and also tuned them as close to the same as on another as i could. So that i can use the same squeeze on all of them and know when they will go "BANG!" the only trigger i like better is in the CZ 527 models and of course they have been discontinued....

I can remember like it was yesterday seeing the Mark V in American Rifleman when I was 10 - 12 years old. I thought it was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen. I own many nice firearms now, but I've still never owned a Mark V. I don't really know why, because I've acquired pretty much every other gun I've wanted. Except for a Mark V, and a double Holland & Holland. Good lord willing I'll add those one day.

Being a rare Winchester, there will those who will say never fire it or you'll impact the collector value. I'll never understand people who buy a tool with no intention of ever using it. Also noticed the stock was finished with open pores. I wasn't too impressed the first time I noticed these in a new rifle stock but have since come to appreciate them for the character they add to natural wood. Now it's time to make it a more valuable heirloom by taking wild game with it. Without any stories behind it, a firearm is just a hunk of metal and wood. Congratulations on a great find.

I'm 70 and spent a lot of working years in both the firearms retail as well as wholesale business. I've always loved firearms and have hunted my whole life. Gun calibers have always interested me...and quite frankly, people's interest in them has actually amused me. You see there is only so much you can do with a rifle cartridge without it becoming something armies refer to as artillery. I've watched the popularity of various calibers come and go, be re-discovered, or new ones come out which aren't much different ballistically to calibers which were popular many years ago. Every generation seems to popularize a caliber they can kind of call their own. In my early hunting years those calibers were 30/06, 30/30 and 35rem. Oh there were many others, some of which you hardly hear about today...like .257roberts, .308win, 300savage, 6mmRem. As I got older .270 became the go to caliber and 7mm08 gained popularity. Then we went through the Ultra Mag calibers and short mag calibers like 7UL 270wsm etc. Now the popular caliber is 6.5 Creedmor of course....and that's kind of funny as I have experience with a Swedish 1896 Mauser in 6.5 Swede with a 28inch barrel that will do everything a 6.5 Creed can do. As for that my 7mm08 will as well. It's funny because ammo and firearms manufacturers in order to keep interest levels up are constantly re-inventing the caliber wheel....and we appreciate that for sure. But when it comes down to hunting, I used to tell customers this when they asked what the best deer caliber was. I'd point to the rifle wall and say "any caliber up there that is legal to hunt deer with if used within the effective range of that caliber and with good shot placement will kill a deer. Yes, there are some which are more forgiving of poor shot placement. The only caliber I ever shot a bunch of deer with and the deer dropped on the spot was 30/30win.........and though I still have a few, I haven't hunted with that caliber in decades. I aim for a heart/lung shot and with calibers like .270 , .308 and 7mm08, the bullet often zips right through and the deer runs for 30-60 yards and then tumbles stone cold dead. Knowing that, you might ask why I don't hunt with my 30/30's? Well I guess just like today's generation is enamored with 6.5 Creed...I became the same with the popular calibers of my generation.

I have a Weatherby Mark V in 7MM Weatherby Mag. It's from around 1986 and has never (other than the Factory) had a round through it. I did the same thing as you are talking about....After mounting a Leupold Scope on it, I wrapped it in a very soft cloth to protect the Walnut stock, put it inside a padded hardcase, and set it back to be handed down to my Sons as an Heirloom. I also have a Weatherby Mark V Weathermark in 7mm Weatherby. It's Stainless and Plastic so IF I want to shoot 7mm Weatherby Mag, I use it.

Made to shoot, I bought a super grade maple in 308. Shot a deer with it a couple years ago. I only take it out in good conditions when I hunt out of a blind and it sits in my field rest and use a hard case when it rides in the truck. Not what I use when walking in the woods. Beautiful guns and action smooth like butter, but made to be used. I have a soft spot for Winchester's though and collect them. I shoot 52C and 52D at my 22 shoots. Weaver T36 and Lapua center x lot 28 shoots best for those. Would like to see a video on the 52's if you come by one in the future. Great video, like watching your channel. Keep up the great work!

As far as taking the sticker off, if you're going to keep it forever, go ahead and take the sticker off, if you have any doubts. Doubts not only don't take the sticker off but don't shoot it! Put one bullet through it and it loses half of its value!

I am a "rifleman" . I just love model 70s. That's a very pretty one. You need to hunt with it. I have a lot of firearms, that one makes me a little jealous. Congratulations.

Oh Adam you need to shoot this thing! I have the Cabela's Limited Edition in 270 Win. and I took it hunting this last season! This fine rifle is made to hunt please don't let it gather dust. It is a fine rifle and think of how cool it would be to take big game with it!

You have to find a gloss black scope for that. The last one I got was a new old stock gloss leupold off eBay. I put that on a Weatherby vanguard sporter deluxe, with gloss black tally one piece mounts. Rifles like that just don’t look right with a matte black scope on it. I’ve seen a company on eBay doing gloss black cerakote on scopes too, but I’d want to double check with the manufacturer on any possible warranty issues with the cerakote.

Beautiful rifle. I was gonna say leave the sticker on if it's a collector / safe queen. But then saw remarks about 'leaving a stain' and the fact that you're gonna take it out and get some blood on it, so yeah, pull the sticker and preserve it.

A beautiful rifle! The 264 Winchester magnum came first then the 300 Winchester magnum in Winchesters cartridge development. I would take the sticker off and clean it and wipe it down and place carefully in your safe. Controlled round feed like the original Model 70.

Take off the Sticker. Take it to the range. Take it in the woods. She's meant to sling boolits and catch muleys. Let her live her best life. Any wear she gets will just make her that much more unique.

Of all the calibers that I have had in over 60 years and wanted, the 264 Win Mag is at the very bottom of the list. One thing that I never wanted was a barrel burner.

The model 70 ( IMO) is THE most beautiful & quality factory bolt ever made . A Ruger No 1 is a damn close 2nd.

If you’re going to flip the M70, leave the decal on; however, if you’re going to keep the rifle, take the decal off as it will eventually cause the bluing to become discolored.
You’re richer than I am because I don’t have any guns that I can’t shoot. From old Stevens to new Berettas, from a couple of 40X’s to my M70’s in 7x57, I shoot every gun I own.
Dude, Please enjoy your rifle; don’t just lock it up for “later!”
Remember the old song, Tomorrow Never Comes?
    You’re only alive today!
    Shoot, shoot, shoot!

There's valid arguments on both sides of that coin. But the older I get, the more I lean towards your way of thinking. I remember buying nice knives for my dad, first thing he'd do was start sharpening them. I'd say you should have put that up dad, he'd say he wouldn't own a gun or knife he wasn't planning on using, and if it really bothered me I should just bring him sticks and rocks next time lol

If you think that at the most you will only shoot this at the range and put it back in the safe, then keep the sticker on the barrel. I have two current Extreme Weather and featherweight Model 70’s and you won’t be disappointed with this Hooty. Beautiful rifle and thanks for sharing.
