Thanks for listening. I don't work on the accents consciously. I'm simply influenced by the recordings I listen to, which are mostly by Irish and Scottish groups.
I love this song! I'm actually working on a medley involving Haul Away Joe, Santi Ano, Bonnie, The Northwest Passage, The Captain's Daughter, and some POTC music, The Edmund Fitzgerald, and some of my own shanty songs.
I liked your other version but I like this one too. The other version was more Clancy Brothers and this one is slower and more traditional. It was a nice contrast :)
Thanks for citing your source! (Though Clancys were a bit misguided with their "timme!" thing, haha) Yes, this is a more stately (and realistic) than your earlier YT version. Good on ya.
Being Irish Scottish here living in the north of England I want to ask you if you worked hard at your accents for the songs, which are pretty authentic.

Very impressive i was surprised when i heard your voice was so good
Not much of a song to sing by yourself, needs about six people, but good job. you've done really well on other songs as well!

@ea146810 No, it's not a "drinking shanty."
great vocal! awesome!
you need a beard ;)
@ea146810 It's not. It's a working song, common ship builders and labourers.
get the beard back!
