For all of the awesome magic in these episodes, that little moment of Fern getting jealous of the hypnosis/restraint testing was the best!
Frieren noticing all the hidden doors is probably a reference to old D&D, as high elves were able to detect such things without searching prior to 4th edition.

Quoting to one of the comments I've seen regarding this episode is that the fact that Sense stays true to her words. She's a pacifist. Even her own replica. Sense is strong enough to kill other participants if she wanted to, but since she's a pacifist, even her own clone only injured them enough for the contestant to break the bottles. You actually can see when the girl breaks her bottle, Sense stops attacking her and attacking her companions instead.
I think it’s implied that this is the first time Sense has done a test in this dungeon , basically none of the test are the same.
It’s really nice seeing Frieren act child like, from what we know she spent a lot of time learning magic solely for revenge, now she’s more in tune with her emotions and gets to genuinely enjoy the little joys of life. Reminds of my mom, she didn’t have it easy growing up, I so when we went to the zoo for the first time she was so full of energy running around and pointing at every animal , I felt so happy seeing her like that, it must be how Fern feels ,😂😭 ah fun times
Don't dungeons rearrange each time you enter or was that just a thing I remember from previous anime lol. There was a show that a guy would map out a dungeon but it was useless because it would change each time they entered.

"Perfect copy" is always scary. Especially it didn't have side effects. And those are no mind, so it immune to mentally/crowd control spell, but can use that spell of that to the real one.
Truly insane mimic of anime (the other animes of "mimic" have side effects or can't copies all/has a limit)
4:50 To my knowledge it's not confirmed that this dungeon is the test Sense used for her previous tests, indeed it implies this is the first time her test has used this location (Genau in the previous episode noted how tough the exam she has made this time is, which he wouldn't have meeded to tell her if she had done the same thing three years ago).
Alternatively, it is a massive maze with multiple paths, so Sense wouldn't have likely walked and memorized them all.

The reasonb sense does not knwo about the dungeon is because it has never been conquered. As the one guy noted at the beginning, no adventurer has come back from this dungeon.
AFAIK there is no season 2 in the works. The manga is on chapter 128 or so, and the anime runs through chaper 60, so there's more than enough content for another season tho. Chapter 119 would also be a pretty good place to close a season.

Wow, episodes 23-24 were incredible! Seeing Frieren take on an unexpected dark turn was shocking and thrilling. The plot twists and character dynamics were so intense, it kept me on the edge of my seat. This series just keeps getting better and better! Can't wait to see what happens next. There is no way they won't make a new season of Frieren. It might take a while though, because this season adapted like 60 manga volumes, and it is currently on hiatus and in the 120-130s. So if they rush with a new season, soon they will run out of material.
But anyway, I'm confident we will have a new season of Frieren by 2025 (could be better if 2026 but waiting that long will be the end of me). It has become the best rated anime ever, and for something that isn't normally mainstream, it gained a confident and passionate following.
But will it still be animated by Madhouse?

For the question of 'How does she not know where things are in the dungeon'
A: Nobody has truly 'conquered' the dungeon before. Everyone who has tried, has failed. Even people who have tried to gather information in the past were either killed or chased out in the past. This test is a truly new and unique one. At most there is limited information available even to the proctors, but the proctor is basing the test off of ONLY what knowledge they *do have*
Thus, the test is pacifist in nature. The test would have the HIGHEST RATE of success if everyone were to work together rather than to split up and work in competition with eachother. Ensuring eachothers safety, sharing details about eachother.... The test relies extremely heavily on this.
I use the term "Pacifist" as lightly as I can, considering that it is 'Serie' a wartime era mage, that is the one that decides who passes and becomes a first class mage or not in the very end, and who gets their reward spells.... Essentially she sees all of the spoken/humanoid races like humans and elves and dwarves to be non-human and 'the enemy.' Therefor they fall outside of the range of her pacifist nature, whereas everyone else? They are safe, in her eyes.

21:04 Well, in the episode where we met Kraft, he literally told Frieren, to her face, that she's young. Which would suggest that the 1000+ years that Frieren has lived is next to nothing for an elf. It also brings into question how old Kraft is.

Hooray! These episodes are when my mage waifu Methode gets to shine (well, except for her peak character moment in ep.28).
We also get the extremely significant line from Ubel where she looks her duplicate in the eyes and says, "you must really want to die." That's like, Doppelganger Writing 101: anything you say to your duplicate in the heat of the moment is something you believe about yourself. Ubel's got a death wish - whatever happened to her that made her like that, it was bad. I hope one day we get some more insight into her because she's a fascinating character.

Regarding Fern saying she may be able to kill Frieren, we need to remember that having more mana doesn't guarantee your victory. Frieren mentioned she was defeated numerous times by mages with less mana than her. Visualization (magic is all about the power of imagination), technique, skill, knowledge, discipline experience, luck and talent are all factors.
Also Fern has shown to be extremely skilled for her age-with even Frieren mentioning she is "better" than her in certain regards. Frankly, if there's one person I believe would have a chance against Frieren, it'd be Fern. Not because she matches her master in power nor even the other exam participants, but because she knows her best. Her abilities, behaviour, personality and weaknesses.
Land and Ubel is like when the school nerd and the school baddie from the popular group find out that they're compatible. it shouldnt work but it somehow does 🤣

Edel & team's fight with Sense is so hype. I wish we got to see more of her and her teammates. Ubel and Land have something going on for sure but not sure in what nature. Ty for reacting!
Frieren is Vash the Stampede. I'm not sure the name for that archetype but, the parallels are kinda nuts when you think about it.
Sadly AFAIK no S2 has been announced yet. (Although you'll find plenty of clickbait trying to convince you otherwise based on over-interpreting vague ambiguous statements).
The Frieren manga did just go on Hiatus. This isn't confirmation of S2 in any way but it is a potential clue that the mangaka is taking some time away to work with the animation team. Only time will tell on my guess here but theres no way S2 isn't coming, this show is too phenomenal for them to let it sit
@@Crystantemum It would be nice if every good S1 was rewarded with an S2, but unfortunately that's not a guarantee. I do hope that they're just holding off on the announcement until it's closer to being ready, though.

Frieren is a Loli-Baba! A granny character who's still super cute and lovable
"She's still a child at heart even though she's very old."
Now this isn't confirmed anywhere at all, just postulation. My belief is that you aren't wrong in that quote. The reason being that in a human context Frieren is probably in her teens or twenties. She may be 1000+ years old (we only know 1000 years from when Flamme was alive and then the 80 years since Himmel found Frieren,) but to an Elf, that may as well be only 10+ years to a human life. Theres also the fact she wasn't a toddler when Flamme found her and she was the strongest in her village so her actual age is really up in the air.
All this to say, Frieren technically still is young for an elf. You could even view it as Frieren only truly started considering others once Himmel died and thats something we as humans start doing when we're in our mid to early single digits. All of this really makes one think
Kraft outright calls her young, and Serie treats her like a child, so ....
Spending most of the past thousand years alone probably also stunted Frieren a bit when it comes to life experiences.
Notice that Ubels copied magic isn't as good as the original. Wirbels binding spell Sorganeil has perfect straight lines, whereas Ubels copy is slightly twisted.
