Thanks for the news on these batteries!
My pleasure, thank you for watching!
Great breakdown, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I have the long range Lectric battery. I live in NYC, and it's about 18 miles to get to the beach from where I live. I ride, return and I have about 41 volts left on the battery, about 15%. I mostly do it on PAS 1 and 2, sometimes 3. I try to minimize PAS 3 because I bought an ebike to help me out during inclines, but mostly for exercise. I probably would not be able to do this with the lower range battery.
That's awesome!
Yeah, my feeling is that while it's a better deal economically to buy a second standard battery, in many situations, the convenience of having just enough extra range to avoid having to swap out batteries all the time is worth the extra dollars per watt-hour of the extended range battery.
This was a very well put together video. Surprised it doesn't have more views and your subscriber count isn't higher. Job well done. Keep it up.
Thank you! I appreciate that very much!
This is a great honest review. 5 Star. I’m going to order the long range battery when financially able..
I just bought a dual battery adapter from electricallwheel and use my internal battery + an extra internal battery that i lay on the back rack, so have 20Ah on my 2.0 and 24ah on my 3.0. Saved alot of money from buying a bigger internal battery since i had spare 10ah batteries.
Just ordered that kit yesterday
My XP 3 Long Range, $1199, works great and I love riding it! The expected range, when used predominately on PAS1 is 65 miles though I made it 75 miles on the initial full charge. I rode mostly on PAS1 but did shift to PAS2 briefly when going up bridge slopes and when making left turns in traffic. When I finally recharged the battery it had 2 bars left, that plus no bridge slopes and I probably would’ve reached 85 miles.
Very well built, solid, quiet bike! There should be a protective layer over the paint on the shock leg, whenever the bike is folded the leg makes contact with the rear frame and paint gets rubbed off.
I bought a extra standard battery for my 2.0 before the extended was available. Doing the math, it’s exactly what I’d do again for my usage. I think the extended is a great option that’s probably being ordered often for those wanting a bit more range.
I'll go with a 30ah rack battery and blender for over 40ah and save $150 over their 14ah 'long range upgrade'
what did a 2nd battery cost? i haven't seen it as an option.
Second battery makes more sense in my calculations. Long range gives you 10 more miles. Extra battery gives you 20 for about $100 more versus $200 more.
I agree. Batteries are over priced. Generic batteries offer many options at a fraction the cost!
Thinking about the long range battery
I just bought the XP3.0 with the long range (14ah) battery. It cost an extra $200 or $1199 total.
Awesome! The XP 3.0 with the LR battery is a great value.
If I would have known I would have waited on the 3.0. But I still love my 2.0.
@@ElectricRidesUT The T42 copy of the Lectric comes with 16ah, 1100w80nm motor, hyd brakes for $1099
Thank You. After a year & 1400 miles my XP 2.0 is strong as ever. When it gets low I change bikes. My Engwe Pro 2 makes the XP look bad range wise. They ride very differently.
How's old saddletramp doing down there? Lectric sucked me in again and I ordered up the 3.0 Black Friday sale step thru extended range with the passenger setup. Now I can take Jo Anne with me! We get lots of grins and laughter when people see her on the back! Now I'm the guy with the cute little blonde on the back!😎
@@Cyfi71 Im like a kid with a new toy every day. These little bikes are the best toy a biker can have. You stay sexy with that 3.0 👍😎
@@Saddletramp1200 Down in our Arizona digs now. Haven't seen another 3.0 with the passenger package yet. May have to break down and get a basket for the front as I think the saddlebags will get in Jo Anne's way. Can't bear to get rid of my 2.0 just yet so I've got two bikes for now. Totally different feel between the two bikes. The step thru is great with the wife on the back as I can get my feet on the ground faster when stopping. The 3.0 is quick off the line and you can feel the increased torque.
Nice video :)
Glad you enjoyed it
The long range gives you 25% more power at 70% price premium. Besides longer range it is worth considering that the capacity will drop over time so in a couple years will probably drop to the range of a new standard battery so you will get more time before having to replace the battery depending on your needs?
Also to get the best life out of the battery Lectric says to charge it to 75% or around 50V and limit how many times you recharge it (don't continually top it off), which means for the extend range battery charged to 75% you get the same range as the standard charged at 100% and longer life. All in all there is a lot more advantages for buying the long-range battery including longer-life if charged properly.
I bought the Long Range for 375 for an xp2 step-thru and am completely satisfied. Swapping them out is sort of a pain, but it's a good pain to have.
we opted to just buy a second 9.6 Ah battery....we now have twice the range....
A really good choice as well. No matter how far you go on 1 battery, you'll always be able to get back home with the 2nd!
I bought the new Long-Range XP 2.0 & I can ride 30 Miles a day & still have 46 Volts from the 54.6V when it’s fully Charged. I never like taking the battery below 43 V to preserve its health and longevity. Though I do ride mostly PAS 2 except when I need to ride roads with no bike lane on PAS 5 For a short stretch.
I love the fram in battery design... but lectric has kinda shot themselves in the foot with this.
Yep, one of the big problems with integrated batteries.. you're completely locked in for a form factor so "upgrades" are extremely limited.
Yes enjoy bike XP experience, but lost key yesterday and only got one when purchased, deciding whether to buy s new one 48 v 9.6 , or replace ignition on eBay? Thx
For $300.00 you can add a dual battery setup and add a 20Ah battery totaling 30Ah.
That's definitely the better way to go overall.
Does Letric offer the dual battery setup option?
@@treehousejuicery4539 not for the 2.0 or 3.0. only for an XPremium..

Can I ask how long does the battery last before u have to replace it..for example u ride everyday
i wish it came
with two batteries
Gotta keep the price aproachble. For under $900 its a steal for ones main form of transit.
We live up in Michigan where we can't ride our Lectric 2.0 bikes for a number of months each year during the winter months. Do you have any advice on the most recommended way to properly store these batteries for a number of months? We discharged them to about 75% and have stored them in a dry and cooler area in our basement - about 55 F. temp. Should we somehow discharge these a little each month and then recharge them to 75% again? There really is no good way to ride these bikes in the winter where we live, so I am concerned about damaging the batteries. That would be a costly problem. Thanks for any advice! NOTE: We have the standard battery for our Lectric 2.0's. Thanks again!
I hear a lot of differing opinions on the long term winter storage of batteries. Personally, I just discharge my batteries to 75% and check on them every so often to make sure they aren't discharging too much.
@@ElectricRidesUT Does anyone have a video with instructions for making an alternative harness and managing their Lectric battery with a SkyRC IMAX B6AC V2 charger ??
I live in Moline Illinois the winters here are brutal. I ride my OG XP 1.0 4000+ miles in -10 degrees with not let down and 100+ degrees in the summer no problem and it has been in epic rain storms.
@@HOWBAZARY I’m in central Illinois too! Love my XP 2.0 step thru! Haven’t braved the winters in it yet. Good to know the battery works just fine in cold temps.
probably why the original battery is 9.6ah is because when you do the ohms law it comes to 460 watts witch is below the next hazmat dg level.
at 672 watts on the 14ah battery it now exceeds the shipping level for the original battery.
there was some uncertainty on if the feds may lower trip points for the dangerous goods declaration for shipping so lectric made the stock battery 9.6ah to keep it below 500 watts but since the feds did not lower the the trip points for the dg declaration they was able to upgrade.
or since i have not seen any teardowns of lectric and other similar brick battery i dont know if it uses 18650 cells or the pouch cells.
even worse cheaper batteries can be a cause of fires we have seen what happens with cheap batteries in new york where a combination of cheap shoddy batteries, not the best repair methods and leaving the charger on too long.
Good points, I never really thought of the hazmat shipping regulations as a deciding factor but definitely makes sense from a business perspective.

What brand batteries are we talking about is the Samsung etc and isn't a 15 amp more beneficial for someone that's overweight to get uphills
Lectric doesn't generally mention the battery's cell manufacturer all too often but they've said previously that they typically use Samsung cells. More amps would help a bit but for that scenario more voltage would be better (less voltage sag) for those times of high-power draw.
Would this battery work on the virtual i7 pro? Looks to be the same size and all.
I wouldn't doubt that it would, they definitely do look exactly the same but I'm not sure if you'd get a straight answer from either company telling you it would work or not. 🤷♂
@@ElectricRidesUT you are right, it’s probably the same company they get the batteries from ha.
Had an issue with the bike battery. Just doesn't fit right. Can't turn the key. Lectric said it will send a shim and hopefully that will work. I have had the bike for over two weeks and it is just sitting there because it just doesn't work. I am hoping Lectric will send me a new bike that does work.
That sucks. Any updates/solutions?
It doesn’t seem like Lectric is UL certified? This is a concern. Do you have details on why and if they plan to?
I'm just speculating but I expect that it's something that Lectric has in the works since the NY UL certification law was just the start and before long most cities/states will require it. Rad has a Brooklyn store so it's something that they probably had to take care of quickly otherwise they couldn't sell bikes out of it but for other ebike companies it isn't as an immediate priority.
I don't see the average battery size being 20 ah. ....more like 12 - 14 ah.
At the time of me making this video most of the newer ebikes were coming out with a 20Ah or more battery so I figured it would soon be the average.
Any big dudes riding these? Im 6'4 300 and wondering what range this will get me.
wondering the same 6'3 340
I bought XP , the baterey was not long. Only 8 miles was drop
This really isn't a throttle only kinda bike. You gotta pedal some
See, this is all I wanna know is whether or not this battery is worth the hubba Bubba
A 14amp Battery is not long range
Compared to the previous battery, it is. Pay attention, dummy.
So meanwhile lectric brags about being the cheapest most affordable bike on the market yet 99% of its buyers ends up “upgrading” soo many components 2weeks into ownership…..basically noobs loves this shit cuz they cant see past the marketing and drink their first gallon of the lectric koolaid only to find out corners were cut to bring the price down😆
Lectric doesn't have to "brag..." they made 15 MILLION as a starter-company even before the ebike craze swept this nation. -They are what they are... one of America's top-selling ebike companies, who offers their consumers a VARIETY of reasonably affordable bikes/options, for a variety of it's consumers' needs, who's owners THEMSELVES do the bragging for em.
I myself have the original Lectric XP, with the 10.4 amp LG cells. I know they are quality LG's because Lectric is transparent enough to actually TELL us... (try that with Amazon's China bikes and you won't even get a response from costumer service outside of, "quality battery..." ), and since I essentially replaced my car with my now 9632 mile bike as a commuter, the entire bike has paid for itself COUNTLESS times in this here J. Brandon's America.
I'm not sure what you've been drinking...
but...
life is about choices, Honey.
I’m at 1100 miles on my xp2.0 and the only problem I had was the seat so I bought a new one and they refunded me for my new seat.
@@Justmekpc My 1.0 has 9600 something miles on her and the only things that were needed, were things which needed replacement from normal wear like, tubes, tires, brake-pads, better seat, etc.
Tell ya what though, I bought that new long-distance battery and WOW!! not only can I travel to my destination without battery-worry... I can actually RETURN without bringing an extra battery. And it goes faster, for a longer duration.-Very pleased.
I agree Meeso, I opted for the $849 G-Force T42 copy of the Lectric XP3.0.(and saved $150). T42 has: 750/1100w, 80nm motor, 22A controller, Hydraulic brakes, bigger: battery, tires 20x4, forks(80mm) and top speed(34mph). But, Lectric has a popular, affordable ebike that is quite customizable! Take it as-is or swank it out! Rack battery can go 100mi range! BMX forks and handlebars improve handling. Custom seats kiss your bum. I like Lectric accsy's
Regardless of the price or brand, everyone always makes changes to their ebikes. One, to personalize them, two because by upgrading certain things, we end up exactly with what we want. There isn't any brand or bike that will give you exactly what you want for a high or low price.
No offense, but this video sucks. I don't want to see theoreticals, I want to see real live tests.
