As someone who has taken part in racing and been a spectator in many races in Sri Lanka, I can guarantee you sadly many spectators don’t realize the dangers associated with racing. Authorities take many precautions to keep people away from getting closer to the track, even when they are asked to leave and go back to a safe zone they will only listen for a few minutes and as soon as the army forces move to a different direction people are right on the edges again. The spectators need to be educated about the consequences with the choices they make! There is poison out in the market and manufacturers have warned about it. So is the manufacturer to be blamed if a person decides to drink it? Likewise people should use their brains when stepping into events like this as they are warned in advance when they purchase tickets. The part where organizers have failed is, by not bringing out the red flag when a car was already on its roof. With the video footage seen so far, it looks like the double yellow flags were not waved before entering the incident scene and due to the massive amount of dust the visibility is low & drivers are short sighted by the dust clouds. A driver approaching the accident scene could be caught off guard. It’s very unclear yet as to how or why those two cars came into contact before launching into the track marshals & spectators. Many know for a fact the Ford/Mazda category is one of the most rowdiest and indiscipline drivers. So the question is, were the drivers aware of the toppled car, did they see the yellow flags the marshals were waving and chose to ignore it or didn’t they actually not know anything and was caught off guard by the car that was toppled. The other issue at hand is usually after a couple of races a bowser truck is sent out onto the track to water it to address the high clouds of dust caused during racing, apparently that has not happened at this event. Collectively many things failed that day and led to loss of lives. The organizers have to be held responsible for the parts they have failed which resulted in such a tragedy. But people getting closer to the track when there are plenty of other safer areas to watch is on them and their lack of ignorance about the dangers when spectating closer to the track. Safety needs to improve a lot more and everyone, drivers , organizers, race director, flag marshals, security and spectators should do their part to ensure safety for them and the others.
It was not an off-roading event. It was a rally-type event on an unpaved, prepared track. There were absolutely no safety barriers, making it an accident waiting to happen.
The thing is the spectators were warned multiple time to stay away from the unsafe barriers. They even had a warning at the back of the ticket saying "Watch this race at your own risk"
These individuals seem unlikely to learn. Participating in disorganized events with a sense of invincibility, lack of education, and disregard for others often leads to tragedy. They bear sole responsibility for their actions. It's regrettable, but they willingly expose themselves to harm.

This not the first time FOXHILL OR any other race circuit was found to be organised to be lacking in compliance with international FIA approved safety standards. Thats why no INTERNATIONAL DRIVERS race in Sri Lanka. 😡😡😡😡
Was this an invitation to disaster or an accident that was waiting to happen? At 0.09 look at the safety arrangements that had been arranged for the spectators. Only a couple of feeble metal boards separate the spectators from the racing cars.
This is so stupid, how the spectators were allowed to stand nearby the road. This is what happens when you want to imitate Grand prix but could not afford. So understand your capabilities.
This race is Not qualified track not good I don’t even think proper Tyers in those cars and driver’s coming out with fiscally Doctor check before the race and Qualified before coming to Track they should have Exam about driving knowledge about car track and fallowing conditions organizer’s should pay for the damage
