Last year, for Christmas, I bought a little handheld chain saw from Amazon. I spent a whole month trimming my oleander bushes. I had such a blast. My backyard looks so clean now. Good luck with your renovations. Spray yourselves with bug repellant so those gnats will leave you alone.
I am 63 years old women and asked for a chain saw for Christmas last year, it’s just a little 12 inches but I am having a blast cleaning up the woods around our home. Have fun, be safe and enjoy your progress. ❤️. As for the barn maybe you could take it down but use some of the boards when building the new barn so you can have some of the old with the new.
I think when the dozer is there for the house, it better do that barn too. It would probably cost more to repair it than to replace it. If you want to stay with that type barn, you might check to see if there are any Amish builders in the area that could do them.
Or contact the fire department and ask if they’d like to do some training on your property and burn the house and barn down. Then there will be less to haul away.
Love y’all’s property! If you have a volunteer fire dept near you they sometimes will burn old structures just for the experience and training for new volunteers. I know ours do here in Alabama. They do it for free too! That would save you guys some money.
You need to have Chad briing his drone over so you can see the land from the air and map out where you want access and what you want to do with it. Much easier to plan your access if you can see it from above.
When you get really seriously into the wood cutting get an expert in who knows timber. Use their knowledge to identify the timber suitable for indoor fires, timber useful for building eg garden beds, pens, leantos etc, timber that needs to be burnt. Remember firewood needs to season at least 12 months before use.
The barn is not worth paying someone to check on. You have seen why the barn has failed at that location (water path) so you'll need to relocate to a location that will allow you to keep your equipment out of the damp and mud. Consider moving some earth to build up a nice level area for both the house and a large multi-storage barns/buildings area. Think about getting a tiller attachment for your tractor for making your garden and any fodder crop acreage you will need. I like the 'step down' levels, you could remove or thin out existing trees then add in fruit and nut trees. It's fun seeing the property. Thank you for sharing it with us.
A lot of trees to be removed in the land clearing project. It may be cheaper in the long run to flag the trees you want to keep and have professional clear remaining. They can do in a day that would take weeks for you to do. Just a suggestion for your safety and cost effectiveness. It would just take them a few minutes to tear down the barn.
❤ I will be praying your family, including Chad's and Grandpa's family stays safe in the storms, those storms scare me to death...I just love all of your family and your videos. 🙏🙏🙏 The barn is in bad shape, but I would definitely save some of the wood if you tear it down, there seemed to be some good wood in there.
Cut the trees up for fire wood, if some of the barn boards are salvageable sell or use them somewhere. Kyle and Chad r definitely brothers, when the bugs were flying in ur mouth, 😆 🤣 😂. As always God bless stay safe until the next video 😍
Hi y'all. Your audience has really come to love your family. So glad to see you taking every precaution and being safe. ....The crafter in me is seeing all kinds of "Homestead Sweet Homestead" kinds of signs out of the red barn wood...LOL.......The doors would be sweet to use in a new home....I know y'all will make the best decisions on what to do. Get all the advice you can, but my dad always told me, "Free advice is sometimes worth just what you pay for it"".....Tysm for letting us watch. All the best to you and yours. : )
Yes, you can! You should rent a couple different tractors, test drive. The biggest mistake is not getting a tractor that is big enough, then have to trade up for the one you really need.
You might get enough wood out of the barn by cutting off bad ends, to make an 8x10x10H tool shed and put in a gravel floor for now, use galvanized roofing, get a solar panel for lighting in it and to run or charge power tools, put a sliding barn door on it or a sealing type door to kept out critters and to lock it up 🤷♀️🤷♀️up to your needs! Just an idea 😍👍🙏❤️
As new chainsaw user... Important to avoid hitting the ground with the chainsaw IT WILL BLUNT THE CHAIN VERY QUICKLY. This needing resharpening and decreasing life of the chain. If at all possible cut only wood abo e ground. If unavoidable with wood lying on the ground cut say jalf way roll the wood over and cut remainder agaon from top to meetup with existing cut, thus no need to gp into ground.. one posiboty is trim branches/wood hanging above ground , trimming back piece by piece until grounded trunk remains. Not cut larger part free to fall to ground. Then do the grounded remainder as above, hslf way, roll, do rest of cut. Your chainsaw will work well, with sharp saw chain longer, then after much cutting, sooner or later resharpeni g is required. After several sharpening cycles cpn sider a new chain. Also keep an eye on lubrication oil supply and correct tension for the chain, again life is dependant on proper use.
Take pictures and salvage what wood you can. Its hard to save old barns but the look can be saved with panels, doors, beams that are saved. Best of luck 🤞
You may better off getting a drozer and clearing and leveling things up. But just go step by step you both can get it the way you want it. God bless you both.🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊😊😊
I would definitely try to salvage some of the barn wood if you can for a future project. It's too bad the barn needs to come down but for safety reasons, I think it's best. Loving the new video and chainsaw action.
I agree, the barn could be repaired. I'd talk to your dad, grandpa Adler. The longer it sits, the worst it will get. I'd tarp the roof to prevent more damage. It does need to be jacked up, would make a big difference along with tapping it.
You need a blade for your weed eater. You could cut all the small trees, weeds, and bushes with the blade. When you cut these, be sure to cut as low as you can to the ground. That will keep someone from tripping.
Nice to see you today yes it looks like the barn is going to have to come down for y'all safety look forward to y'all's new videos and see how you come along with your home place
The first look is always a glance, the second and third, is always much different. You will find many more adventures. Thank you and God Bless you for sharing.
That was very good lovie that you were so careful with the chainsaw well done. Lots of wood to cut and use for firewood. Keep safe GOD BLESS New Zealand
When the barn comes down and the boards are not rotted SAVE THEM... you won't regret it for future use. Rent machinery and clear out the area before winter. Running a bulldozer is lots of fun. Save yourself some time. Good luck I have been where you are, enjoy the process. BTW have you seen any of the roosters????
Sorry about your barn. The way the broken limb was, I couldn't tell if it which way it was going to fall. Good job cutting and getting it down. God bless ❤🙏
DO NOT BURN THAT WOOD! You should try to pull out as much of the red planks as possible. No matter the condition. Turn that barn into $$! Stack it, or even leave it where it lays. Put an ad in the DIY & Handicrafts sections on Craig's List. List it in several towns nearby. Those boards are gold! People will travel a ways to get a whole load or just some of it. Offer it for one big price for all of it, & they pull it down. Or pull it down for them (tractor & chain) & they load & haul it for a little more.
Great work with chainsaw ,I love y’all video that is a tear down barn . Y’all’s land is pretty all some great job on cutting trees that had fallen . ❤️👍
Boys and their toys! Loved walking around your place with you both! My Dad was a Collector of Everything from trees to pipes throughout my life. We repurposed many things and built 2 homes and cusomized a VW van back in the 60s. He was an art Professor and loved to share his knowledge with others. There appears to be alot of good wood in that barn and I know there are things in the house that can be repurposed...hint hint.
There is a show, usually on FYI network called Barnwood Builders. You could get some great how-to's on salvaging some of that barnwood for use later. Keep up the good work!
Good call guyz not to put new equipment in the barn because it may fall. Y'all stay safe, hope ya made it home b4 it rained or the bugs carried ya off.
FYI, when cutting saplings or cutting brush (when you get a tractor) those little stumps you leave in the ground love tires. Better to remove the hole thing.
Now that you are on RUclips and you have 100 more mom's and dad's that are going to hound you about what you and Shanon should do and protection for your eyes and etc of what you should wear. Just enjoy your new land and keep the video's coming and be careful. God bless.
Hi Kyle and Shannon, I just watched this wonderful old video of back when you first started working on your land. Take it from this old grandma you’re both just as cute back then as you are now. Memories are so neat and you have them all on video. Blessings always 💕🙏🏻💕
You might want to look at skid steer with tracks only you would want a bigger sized one what's nice they have so many attachment's that you can go rent them
Congratulations. I’m guessing since you brought your toys, oops tools, with you that you closed on the property. Let the fun (hard work) begin. Looking forward to following your journey. From Gig Harbor, WA.
Hello Kyle and Shannon! Was sorry to hear news that barn may not be salvageable. Thought that mushroom Shannon came across was interesting. Pretty fall day. Hope storms don’t get too bad in your area. Take care. 💕from Ky.
The barn is a wash, there is no way of saving it. I would believe that all the structures on the property are unsalvageable. Looking forward to seeing what comes next. Huge love 💖 from Canada.
Agreed! They all have serious water damage. By the way there are some new tractors showing up on some of the homestead sites. TYM see Arms Family Homestead. He just replaced his Kubota with one!
So down to earth you both are. I was lol when you were trying to get the bug out. I have done that exact thing and sound. I'm afraid the barn will need to come down and different location.
New Subscriber! Hey y’all from Arkansas! 👋 Chad and Grandpa sent me. Looks like you have a huge adventure going on. That barn is so cute but sadly seen better days. Looking forward to follow you and see what you do on your new land. Stay safe and stay positive! I love to hear a chainsaw run. Is that weird? Lol
I feel for safety you should doze it with the house. If you could get the roof peeled off and possibly save some siding. Makes for nice accent shelving/cabinet. Could use to clad a chicken coop or make a miniature barn for storage.
I would suggest a couple extra chains for the chainsaw. That way when one gets dull change it to a new one. Then get the dull on sharpened. That or learn to sharpen them yourself.
That's definitely a locust, and those thorns, besides doing some painful damage to anyone who gets stuck by one are also very rough on tires. I've seen them tear up a rear tractor tire. Although the wood is good for a lot of things, in my opinion, they're best marked for the dozer and bonfire.
I love look of barn, but repairs would be costly. Maybe tear down and salvage as much wood as you can? To rebuild a safer one. Could it be squared up? Metal siding someday? Good luck. Fun to see you really see what you are facing and making decisions to what is best. Thank you for sharing. Already looking better!
I'm glad you are looking it over before using the chainsaw.
That barn needs to come down just like the house, and start from ground zero
Last year, for Christmas, I bought a little handheld chain saw from Amazon. I spent a whole month trimming my oleander bushes. I had such a blast. My backyard looks so clean now. Good luck with your renovations. Spray yourselves with bug repellant so those gnats will leave you alone.

That tree across the trail was just a sasquatch gate ! Don't worry !
I think when the dozer is there for the house, it better do that barn too. It would probably cost more to repair it than to replace it. If you want to stay with that type barn, you might check to see if there are any Amish builders in the area that could do them.
Bulldoze or take a wrecking ball to it
I agree, would be do much safer.
Excellent idea 💡 You may want to save a few boards from the barn for another project, just to have some history of the land too 😀
Or contact the fire department and ask if they’d like to do some training on your property and burn the house and barn down. Then there will be less to haul away.
That's a great idea
Love y’all’s property! If you have a volunteer fire dept near you they sometimes will burn old structures just for the experience and training for new volunteers. I know ours do here in Alabama. They do it for free too! That would save you guys some money.
The fire department said no.
You two are ready! With Family Support, and your. Research Knowledge.Everything with the K&S Get Out Farm will be amazing.💜
24:40 Honey locust. A painful delight for any tree hugger.
Update on taking over the land, please. Can't wait for you to really see what you have!!
You need to have Chad briing his drone over so you can see the land from the air and map out where you want access and what you want to do with it. Much easier to plan your access if you can see it from above.
So glad Chad introduced your channel! I've been binge watching to catch up with you. Keep up the good work.

P.s. Selling barn boards for home signs or selling signs made out of them could finance a new barn. Just an idea.....( for free LOL)
Walnut trees are the first to lose their leaves in the fall. So Don't judge the tree by the lack of leaves.
Y’all are starting a big adventure, enjoy every moment of it. You can’t go wrong with a Kubota. Enjoy.
Yes, you can! You should rent a couple different tractors, test drive. The biggest mistake is not getting a tractor that is big enough, then have to trade up for the one you really need.
If the barn can't be saved is looks like some of the interior walls and round posts look to be in decent shape and you may be able to repurpose them.

I would definitely try to salvage some of the barn wood if you can for a future project. It's too bad the barn needs to come down but for safety reasons, I think it's best. Loving the new video and chainsaw action.
I definitely agree. Salvage the best boards.
Also, very old houses were built with true treated 2x4's. They don't make those anymore.
I agree, the barn could be repaired. I'd talk to your dad, grandpa Adler. The longer it sits, the worst it will get. I'd tarp the roof to prevent more damage. It does need to be jacked up, would make a big difference along with tapping it.

I agree. Reclaimed barn wood will be a treasure later. It could be used for your chicken coup or for a nifty goat barn/shelter.
Gonna have to learn how to sharpen that chain
Sorry about your barn. The way the broken limb was, I couldn't tell if it which way it was going to fall. Good job cutting and getting it down. God bless ❤🙏

Man I would love to be there and help you guys clean all that up
That barn is so cute. Is it possible to make it more structurally safe, level the floors and keep it still look like it's leaning.
I think it would cost more to fix the barn than it's worth, been neglected for way to long. Watch and love tbe family. Be safe

I do love the red barn but as you said you are going to have a professional look at it. Thank you for sharing with us.😍
Good video!! Gnats are bad in Louisiana now too!❤
THANKS FOR THE TOUR. IT LOOKS SOOO NICE OUT THERE. LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING MORE FROM YOU.
There is a show, usually on FYI network called Barnwood Builders. You could get some great how-to's on salvaging some of that barnwood for use later. Keep up the good work!
Looks like good firewood for the future. Have fun you two❤️🙏
Like you I love the style of the barn. I hope someone can get it back for you. Lovely property.
Nice job. Split it, stack it, tarp it and save for woodstove or fireplace
Looks like a lot of work, but exploring too! But staying together makes it fun 😁! Thanks for the videos, stay safe out there, God Bless 🤗💕!
Great video y'all Take Care and God Bless
I hope you can save some of that barn wood for a cool project, especially that upper door :)
That was a HUGE limb that came down. And you had fun with your new toy .
Good call guyz not to put new equipment in the barn because it may fall. Y'all stay safe, hope ya made it home b4 it rained or the bugs carried ya off.
Thankfully we only got rained on a little 😊
I love watching a young couple forging ahead building a homestead. Good Look & Many Blessings to you guys!!
FYI, when cutting saplings or cutting brush (when you get a tractor) those little stumps you leave in the ground love tires. Better to remove the hole thing.
Absolutely don’t leave sharp stumps on saplings
When you using chain saw lift the log off the ground so you don't get the chain into the ground. Even if you lean it on a nother log
Really enjoy watching
So glad to see the safety glasses and gloves 😁 your dad and bro need to wear some. Lol
Now that you are on RUclips and you have 100 more mom's and dad's that are going to hound you about what you and Shanon should do and protection for your eyes and etc of what you should wear. Just enjoy your new land and keep the video's coming and be careful. God bless.
We don’t want you to be stung either be safe 🐝
Great work you 2. You will get there. Xx

Love your little piece of heaven! You are going to have fun exploring and building a home there.
I like the barn also especially the posts inside with what looks like logs.Looks like LOTS of work to fix it up. Thanks for sharing!
Good 🎥 video. Your property looks wonderful. But you do need a bush hog thank you for letting us watch.
Congratulations. I’m guessing since you brought your toys, oops tools, with you that you closed on the property. Let the fun (hard work) begin. Looking forward to following your journey. From Gig Harbor, WA.
Hahahaha, I love it. Shannon called him cute with his chain saw! ROFLMAO, that is too funny! Awesome!
You were both doing a good job keep it up
Can't wait for yall to have family work day! Be safe
Great to see you guys. Lots of work ahead. Thanks for sharing. Chris from England.
Looking forward to seeing what you all will do with this property. Have fun and be safe!
Awesome property.
Great job on that tree Kyle great job watching for hazards to hubby Shannon you two are so cute
Hello Kyle and Shannon! Was sorry to hear news that barn may not be salvageable. Thought that mushroom Shannon came across was interesting. Pretty fall day. Hope storms don’t get too bad in your area. Take care. 💕from Ky.
Love the videos! Brings back memories of my own land and how we cleared it ourselves
Boys and their toys. I feel you. I was right there with you. Takes me back to Tim the Tool Man Taylor.
When the limb landed on the ground, it looked like a croc with it's head up!!
Have fun with your new chainsaw!
The barn is a wash, there is no way of saving it.

That barn is done !
Yep, the barn needs to come down also.
I’d tear it down and start over with a new one.God Bless y’all

I feel for safety you should doze it with the house. If you could get the roof peeled off and possibly save some siding. Makes for nice accent shelving/cabinet. Could use to clad a chicken coop or make a miniature barn for storage.

1 wasp sting hurts horribly I can't even imagine more than 1. Better to stay safe
Like watching your videos, that will be a beautiful place when it is all cleaned up. From Kentucky USA.
