You know it's a Squidge video when I'm watching it at 0.75x speed and I still have to pause and rewind multiple times to get all the offhand comments, clever observations, and one-liners! Your videos are so densely packed that, if your ideas formed a maul, not even Adam Beard could get close to sacking the ballcarrier!
Damn if this isn't the video I didn't know I was waiting for. So hard to see Jones' vision through the losses so I really appreciate you crunching the data and review the tapes for us part timers 😅
Above everything, I really want an England-Australia quarter-final. Not only the history between the two nations, but also the throwback to 2003 when Eddie was in charge of the Wallabies and recent history between Eddie Jones and England. Imagine the headlines if Eddie Jones led Australia to beat England (the team who up until a year ago he was expecting to coach in this RWC) out of the World Cup. If England or another Northern Hemisphere team doesn't win the World Cup, I want Australia to win it, just for the headlines involving Eddie Jones. Also, small note: at 2:43 you showed a picture of Elton Flatley when you said Stephen Larkham. Otherwise, great video.
As an England fan, getting knocked out of the World Cup by Eddie Jones would be hilarious 😂 Would be the ultimate f-you to the incompetent RFU for jumping the gun less than a year out from the World Cup.
This comment aged well, beaten by Fiji and Wales's greatest ever victory over them. Though I would laugh my ass off if England get knocked out by the great islanders, though I doubt it will happen unfortunately. Let's hope Fiji play better than they played against Wales and Aus!
They're a quality team but very reliant on their god given physical genetics. Look at Radrada trying to pass the ball v England...he can't, but probably because he doesn't need to. Fiji play this way because they maybe have to.
Watching this as an Englishman is incredibly depressing. Said it from day done, should've kept Eddie until the after WC, then the RFU can decide what they want to do with him.

Gordon was a flop this WC…Gordon kicking the ball out on the full when he was subbed on against wales and seeing the fans leave the stadium was embarrassing
Eddie Jones in France would be a monster, but I think the Pacific island team would be more exciting. He would build something that could make history on top of the already talented Fiji side. He’s an actual genius.
I think the Wallabies will top Pool C but Fiji will test and maybe stretch their defence while Georgia will give their pack a strenuous workout. They’ve got an easy path to the semis at least as they might get England or Japan in the quarters!
The Aussie and England pools might be exciting. Don't forget S Africa also entered WCs way down the rankings and having lost most their prior games yet ended up winning the trophy. @craigedwards3899 I don't see why they couldn't, they're a tier 1 nation with many exciting new players coming through the system. Historically they've always done well at world cups so with all that being said I still think at bare minimum they will make it to a semi final game.
@TrystaneTheBlack we will have to agree to disagree. I just don't see them doing anything . Like I said, I watched the French game, and they were dreadful, so I don't see where your optimism is coming from. They have lost their last five games. As a Scot, I put them alongside England. Just above tier 2. Lucky draw will help only so far before they meet a top team and get thrashed.
As a kiwi living in aus I must admit it's surprising how few have any interest in rugby union. In Sydney it's nrl, in Melbourne afl. I went in to a bar with about 20 TV's during the bledisloe and got laughed at when I asked to turn it on. No on cares here at all. Sad
As an Aussie I have to agree nobody cares very much about rugby union you either follow the NRL or the AFL. Nowadays rugby union probably ranks behind AFL, NRL, NSL in terms of popularity and thats got to be a real concern for a sport thats been played in this country since the 1860s.
Great laugh, we'd all love to dream over here but we don't have a world class goal-kicker and only one fly half at the tournament which appears ill advised to say the least. That's not to say Quade should have been picked. We might also not make the quarters if Wales and Fiji fire.
Im a Kiwi, & for me the favourites to win are (in order) France, South Africa, Ireland & New Zealand However the Aussies typically do well at RWC's, especially against Northern Hemisphere opponents, & you would be foolish to discount them. (or Argentina, Scotland, Wales or England for that matter)
Irish and very similar - I think SA just have the mental edge to be my favourites, especially with a few French injuries. SA/France final wouldnt surprise me though
As an Aussie I'll be shocked if we can beat Georgia atm. We haven't won a game since the Wallabies were still being coached by Rennie when they beat Scotland by a point in October last year.
Bro, you single-handedly got me interested in rugby, you've been great for my interests and mental health.// Terrible, simply terrible for my productivity
OK so France and Ireland are doing that already creating rucks to shift players into position confusing the defense. Attacks are always in motion from left to right - I have seen ABs do that so everyone is doing it to some degree and to their best practices. Speed is necessary to excecute to beauty and it is a joy to watch if it results in 5 points. The counter is when there is a turn over and the opposition turns the attack on you with a mixture of slow and fast ball and ricght kicking or break that creates a great counter attack. Its like a flow of offense and defense systems that no matter where you are in the field, move to your most effective position immediately by making the right decision. It fails sometimes but that's the game we all love - no matter how much analysis we do, JUST PLAY.
What I would say about the Australians at the moment is that, at the moment (i.e., on the basis of form), the answer is a qualified no. However, their performance trajectory has clearly been upwards and if they can get it all to function for the full 80+ minutes, then they look to have most of the tools they will need to go deep into the tournament. An Eddie Jones Wallabies team could be a very awesome thing indeed, but they look to have solved their traditional Achilles heel - the scrum - which should give them something of a platform for their always dangerous backs to work some magic. As an Englishman, they make me very, very nervous. If they find someone reliable to take the shots at goal…
After watching Carter Gordon almost single-handedly throw away any chance of the Wallabies being in the game against France, I'm pretty sure I would still have a (supposedly used to losing) but relatively in form Quade Cooper in my team.
You make an excellent point about players getting used to losing. But I think their chances of even getting to the 1/4 finals are little over 50/50, then it's UK or Argies ... another 50/50.
Hello, thank you for this entertaining and informative video. One thing, it might just be me getting old but I did find it hard to understand at times with the commentary going faster than a full back with ball in hand,
I just can’t see the supposed genius of Eddie He’s employed a tiring game plan when the wallabies have struggled to put together 80 Went positionless and left out the best player he could have in that scenario in hooper Names an untested squad when there were 4 games in the rugby championship in which to test them. That and the embarrassing spectacle of being the crazy drunk grandpa of the coaching world has left me personally doubting everything Eddie says. Why believe all the grand claims when you’ve given us nothing to believe in. Also remember that only Japan have been a better team after an Eddie tenure. Every other team is left in a heap. Australia still haven’t recovered from eddies first stint in charge. And RA stupidly said “more of that please” 😒.
I think Eddie just hasn’t had enough time with the team. When the pressure is really on, the cracks will show. Imagine neither Australia or England make it out their pools.

You make an excellent point about players getting used to losing.
But I think their chances of even getting to the 1/4 finals are little over 50/50, then it's UK or Argies ... another 50/50.
How many times can Squidge use the 'revealing the world cup' clip before the tournament kicks off?
I am here for the Wii Shop Channel tunes.
Hello, thank you for this entertaining and informative video. One thing, it might just be me getting old but I did find it hard to understand at times with the commentary going faster than a full back with ball in hand,
I just can’t see the supposed genius of Eddie
He’s employed a tiring game plan when the wallabies have struggled to put together 80
Went positionless and left out the best player he could have in that scenario in hooper
Names an untested squad when there were 4 games in the rugby championship in which to test them.
Wales 40 - Australia 6.
Sensational!!! Go the Wallabies!
I sorta wanna see Australia win now just for eddie to be able to stick his 2 best fingers at England lol.
Great job as always 👏🏼
Love the dig at Stephen Jones. I agree, why any newspaper employees him is beyond me
He's clickbait gold
I think Eddie just hasn’t had enough time with the team. When the pressure is really on, the cracks will show. Imagine neither Australia or England make it out their pools.
I've seen the world cup being revealed in these vidoes now more than I've seen my "special bits" at this point 😂
Squidge, can you please let me help you with French subtitles for your next video on France?
I’m a huge fan and your analysis videos need to be watched by French people who cannot keep up with your speaking pace (I.e a lot) 😅
Hey Squidge! Loving the series, can you tell me which video is the on England’s buildup to the World Cup ?
Thx. Interesting. Akin 2 the evolution since late 1990s in western military small unit ‘Swarm Tactics’ where leadership and thus emotional energy moves more like a biological swarm than rigid red lines...
At present, his track record speaks for itself.. Australia will get booted off the Rugby World Cup before direct elimination stages/.
