This Michelin star rating is a HUGE deal & this is only the beginning. For this reason, we all need to support & not be critical. Do I have my favorite taqueria? Yes. Would I wait hours to eat at the Taqueria El Califa de Leon? Yes. We must support la gastronomia Mexicana so other Mexican restaurants get recognized. Unidos siempre! 🇲🇽
Yes and no. The recognition of the Michelin Star is an amazing award/achievement but it also comes with consequences. Locals who used to eat at Califa will no longer be able to eat on a daily basis due to the large line of tourists waiting to try “Michelin” rated taco. The taco is great it deserves its Michelin star but we don’t need a fancy star to know that our food is amazing.
These Michelin Reviewers are going to have a field day in Tijuana by giving stars left and right all over the city because the best tacos in all of México are here in Tijuana.
They are similar to CDMX not better. Also for their style of tacos Mexicali is better.
@@jaad9848 Nope
100% correct. Been to CDMX, GDL, Tequila, Valle, Rosarito, Vallarta, Cancun (gross), Monterey, and all 2 or 3 times… TIJUANA blows these places away for the tacos and the Mariscos are decent too.
@@chriss2412 Name taco stands and restaurants that supposedly blow away places?
They avoided Baja California Norte, it would be too much work to sample the amazing food in TJ
Had to pause real quick to say that Kevin's spanish is so good now! You can see the confidence when he speaks
Thank you fam! 🤗
We're currently living near Oaxaca City and I heard several places here were recognized. But I agree with you two, it's kind of ludicrous because there's so many awesome places with amazing food (and I don't mean the fancy tourist restaurants, either.) We love trying foods at the mercados and also our favorite taxi driver who's become our friend (he has lived here his whole life) has turned us onto many of his favorite places. It just doesn't get much better than that!
I’m glad to hear you enjoy the gamut of Mexican gastronomy 😋 People here are already talking about “the Michelin Effect” and how it’s going to make it more difficult for locals to access these restaurants.
Not many people are aware that prior for Michelin to award any star to a restaurant, they first take into consideration the *_social, economic and political_* conditions of the country itself. So, behind the Michelin awarding system, there are a lot of economic and political intentions. All across Mexico there are several places with superb and exquisite food, where are their Michelin stars (for whatever it's worth)?? Why some people still search for the validation of Europe (France in this case), if a French chef doesn't "approve" or like a certain non-European food, then that food isn't worth it?
Saludos, y sigan disfrutando de su madre patria mexicana.
Uuff, well said!! 🫰🏼aquí está toda la razón 💯 muchas gracias
Their tourism board straight up paid michelin to get reviewed lol
Thank you for sharing your experiences 🙏 ❤️
Thank you for watching! ☺️
i love the way this video ended you guys so right mexican food is top notch so many places deserve the recognition
How exciting 😍😍😍
🤗
Can't wait to try it 🤩🤩
I love your content, honesty and originality. Thank you for all you do and god bless, saludos de nuevas York 😊
Your review is spot on, that place is a solid 3/5.
You tried it, too??
I don't know about Michelin but tell me about Mi Cheladas and now we are talking!
Haha yup we need to do another michelada video
ESPECIALMENTE DE MEXICO PARA LOS TURISTAS Y TODO EXTRANJERO SON LOS MEJORES DEL MUNDO MUNDIAL 100% REAL NO FAKE ENJOY YOURS TACOS 😁😁😁😁😁😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
I am sure they are good but there's no way I am waiting that long for a plate. I'll come back another time. Lot's of great food all over, especially in Mexico.
Yup! No need to wait here for 2 hours when there are endless options of other tacos just as good
Best tacos I ever had were in Tijuana. Tacos el franc & Taconazo are some of the best stands. They need their michalin stars lol.
Honestly, it might be best for them not to receive the stars less hype = less people.
If you want the best carne asada tacos in all of mexico you have to go to tacos el ruso in tijuana and yes better than any other carne asada tacos in all of mexico
@@miguelvaldez7934 thanks! Ill keep that in mind.
El Franc did not get a star but got recognized on the Michelin Guide which is also huge
I can confirm taconazo is a great place in Tijuana
Glad it was worth the wait, not sure on film I see much of a distinction of other meat tacos I have had, but I know the taste can make a big difference
Guys, you must check this place out! Los Parados here in Roma Sur on Monterrey St. and Baja California has the best tacos I’ve ever eaten including the Poblano Con Queso (2) tacos for only 59 pesos! These guys are the best since 1965!! 2024 Michelin award!!
Best channel ever
Thank you so much!

Looks good! I think you sold me on the salsa! Maybe we’ll wait for the hype to die down! We had our first Michelin star meal back in December in Buenos Aires. We felt so fancy! 😂 I made a video of it on my channel.
Good idea, and I do hope the hype dies down
yall Rock.... such a cute loving couple.... Abrasos y besitos.... From this Nopalito Mexicano living in Texas !!!!
Saludos a Texas! Thank you so much for watching
Michelin obviously has LOTS more food to try since only 18 restaurants got stars!
Hello, So I’ve recently seen your video based on the volaris annual pass and I’m currently contemplating on wether to get it or not since it isn’t a reliable way to travel. But I travel to mx at least once every 2-4 months , do you think this would be convenient for me , and can you please check the availability of flights from Chicago to zacatecas. I’m just trying to see if it will be worth it considering that the flights from chicago to zac aren’t always full, Thank you in advance!!
I follow my own star to good food. I don’t need some big corporation telling me where to go. Do the tacos de canasta, 1/2 block from zocalo in Mexico City. You will see the line out the door, they we fantastic.
En mi bucket list desde ya.
How about a tour of the huge street-food area near the Mexico City Metro Station "Revolución" You could do breakfast, lunch, dinner and night-shift tours of the huge street food area (it's open 24/7). It's a great example of street food in the world's best city for street food, Mexico City.
I like this one we are writing it down for the future
Thanks for the idea! Making note!
Always enjoy seeing yalls adventures.
😊🫶🏻
Me encanta ver sus vídeos. 😍y si de antojan los tacos. Los veo comer y se me hace agua la boca y yammmy.
Loved the history of the Michelin ratings. You always entertain and educate.
The stories are fun! Glad you enjoy them with us 😁
I was in CDMX a couple weeks ago and unfortunately I didn’t have the time to wait 2hrs for the Michelin taco star.. but I went to this taqueria near the Chapultepec metro station called Tako Capital. I ordered a simple bistec one and the meat was fire 🔥.. my wife had the alambre one and a chorizo, and they were delicious.
Me watching while I eat taco of Cecina with salsa just like that taco 🤣🤣🤣
And yours may have been just as good as this one!
Cool, just bought a plane ticket to go in June, i'll see how long the lines are then. Not waiting for two hours unless i can chat some Mexicanos up with my broken Spanish :)
Oh hey guys, i watched some of your music vids, can you please make one on Cumbia?!
Enjoyed to video guys ! Hope your Fibro is doing okay. Now that I moved to back Mexico City hopefully we can meet up. Take care.
Hola! Fibro has been extra rough these days.. 😖 lots of ups and downs. Would love to meet up! Let’s connect on instagram

I had the opportunity to try these Michelin star tacos couple of weeks ago. They are definitely good, well prepared and the salsas are wonderful. But I don't think they are that great for staying hours in line.
There are soooooooooo many great street taquerias in Mexico city that the Califa del Leon, for me, would just rank as one the good ones. But far from the best one.
Nice video
What cut of meat are they using for the Gadnera ?
Gaonera si slice brisket
Gaonera is slice brisket
thanks

Why is the award named after the Michelin Man? I guess he's a big guy who eats a lot and must know good food.
The founders of the Michelin company came up with the idea of making a "food tour guide" around France to basically increase the demand of cars so people could drive to those places, so the further they would drive the faster the tires would wear and thus increase their sales.......or something like that, but yeah is called after the Michelin company cause the founders of it came up with the guide
I was today years old when I learned about Michelin ratings
i got there 30 minutes before it open and was second in line
Lucky! What did you think of the taco?
@@EatBailaTravel I totally agree with your opinion.
I'm totally OK getting a taco from a truck when I lived in LA, It's hard to mess up. I would agree some of these places aren't worth the wait. I frequent Thailand often and I think they count 35 street food vendors with a star in Bangkok alone. I prefer an old line school generated or quality then by a line created by some recognition that has been watered down. I love street food and I've seen this recognition abused once accredited with higher prices. It'll get worse than getting a cheapened star on Hollywood Blvd. I'm fine with Tacos de Guedo in Tijuana, or an ambulatory set-up in Pico-Union . .... The most I waited in line was three hours at Pecan Lodge in Dallas for bbq. There's always many good options at a hawker stand near you.
I'd give the michelin star to the tacos at Tacos El Greco in Condesa. Arabic style tacos in the pan arabe. Just my two pesos.
excellent video and it made me very hungry thank you guys !
Good timing moving to Mexico city then actually living there when they got the star
Super lucky! We really enjoyed the experience
🙏😍♥️
Really appreciated your commentary on this, especially so soon after the guide came out
Keep killing it guys! Straight from Chicago
Mitchelin 😸
Getting paid for traveling and eating. I need my own channel🤔
This place reminds of one of my favorite quotes from the great Yogi Berra: “Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded!”
Another great video guys!
Yup and most likely the price will go up while quality will go down
🇺🇸🇲🇽
Can’t wait to go back to Cd Mx. another thing to add to our list. 🔥 🔥
Definitely!!
Como algo tan sencillo puede ser tan bueno, no he ido pero por lo que se ve es el clásico cuando menos es más.
Muchísima razón! Menos es más!
Yum. You can get good tacos, stretchy pants and a lucha libre mask at the same time! 😂
Yup! Also thongs, Dora book bags, etc
@@EatBailaTravel 😂
Who the hell is Mitchel Lin?😂
🤣🤣hahahahaha
Mitch el in. 😂
I went to Mexico City, and It is not worthy, it is more better tacos in other places in Mexico City, and I think you should tell the true that is not worthy as we as tourist we go and waste a lot of time 3 hours of our vacation just to eat a normal taco that I can eat in California with better taste, and that can be bought in Mexico City in another taquerias in Mexico.
People in the video seem happy eating the food and literally say “it’s worth the wait”
Hey guys another epic video. ❤
Thanks for sharing this with us all. We are heading to Mexico city for 6 days in July lets meet up for street tacos. 🌮🌮🌮🌮❤❤ Not sure I wanna stand in line for 2hrs though 😂😂
Hola amigos! Yess that would be great! Haha no worries we can show you some good tacos that don’t require a 2 hour wait
So what ad does RUclips give me in the middle of this?
🇲🇽
Taco Bell, of course! Lol
oh heck no! hold my taco! Hi Steve we hope all is well, saludos.🤗
😂😂
I had them and meh, they will fill you up but they tasted like any other one I’ve had, the salsa was weak. You want to try some real gourmet food, go to Oaxaca, that’s where I would rate the food a 9/10.
Yessss Oaxaca is real gastronomical royalty
I was a chef for over 25 years I can appreciate a good meal no matter the the origian. ❤❤ They look delicious 🤤😋 no faking Kevin 😂😂
Less is more. 👍🏼
Simplicity is the secret to this taco! 🌮
Haha 😆
Idk 2/3 hours for tacos? :/ I rather go to El Califa in Roma
We haven’t been there but we’ve seen them.
Califia and this place are TRASH
What do you mean “we” ?
In what part?
I think for your video it was worth the wait and will be a good investment overtime
Waiting in Mexico City has become normal. We waited 10 hours to see grupo frontera at the zocalo 🤣
You can make this at home on your grill . Honesty is KEY but it aint worth waiting 2 hrs for those tacos . No mamen 🙄
Yea that’s what we said 😂
Where is the cilantro and onion and grilled onions and juicy salsa ??
Not around :/ but the salsas had very good and fresh ingredients
Agree, M star doesn't necessarily confirm greatness, but they got lucky to get that recognition
Yea very lucky but also tons of years of hard work.
Ohh, I like that they have consistency as a requirement!
Yes we think that’s the determining factor for these tacos
Los Abanicos are far far superior, but I understand Michelin awards are more marketing than people approval
Uuu where are the abanicos at? We are gonna have to go check them out
@@EatBailaTravel Gutiérrez Nájera s/n, Tránsito, Cuauhtémoc, 06820 Ciudad de México, CDMX
Thanks for the suggestion in in cdmx and without never wait in a 2-3 hr line for anything let alone tacos! I'ma look into los abanicos and report back
I worked at a restaurant in Los Angeles that received a star, highlight of my career! It was such an amazing experience and the disapline taught in that kitchen has followed me to be successful throughout my journey as a chef. It definitely falls on consistency, which was drilled into us on a daily basis and paid off.
🙏🙏❤️🇲🇽
Saludos!
I think the chef costed them a star
Why?
Y'all tried this... Im about to eat there today. So close to meeting yall again lmao. Just missed yall in QRO, now missing yall in CDMX!
Oh snap we could have crossed paths 😆
Bravo ✨️ MeXico ✨️ 🇲🇽 ✨️💖
🥰🇲🇽🌮
Michellin is reaching with this one. They dont even go into Arizona and they made it to Mexico? Fr?
I had read the tacos were close to $5 US, is that true?
The Gaonera taco (Michelin winner) is around $4 dollars. The costilla which is two tacos is $5 USD
I had an Airbnb just 10-15min walk from there! If I had known, I would have checked it out. But I’m not waiting more than 1 hours for tacos
Yea waiting hours for something in Mexico City has become very common for us.
@@EatBailaTravelsometimes it’s worth waiting over an hour - once…for the right experience 😂
Fresh meat and handmade tortilla is the secret❤
La tortilla is technically not handmade but it is very fresh and the ingredients are the very fresh and good
Honestly I would never wait 3 hours for a Taco. I hope the guys open up a restaurant taqueria. So people come in and sit down properly and eat their tocos.
We wonder how the quality of the taco would change if they opened up a restaurant.
Best believe I’m gonna be there tomorrow 🌮
You in town? Let’s meet up
Y'all from Cicero tho

I hope the line eases up by November lol😂
😂 that’s a great question. We will be monitoring it
I hope so too lol for everyone’s sake
Somehow I get the impression these tacos are over hyped similar to how In & Out is here in the USA for burgers.

Hola, Hermosa.
isn't michelin a french word, what do the europeans even know about tomatos, potatoes, and tortillas? I doubt they have any real ideas about good Indigenous American food. I'd only trust an older native mom or granny.
Uff that got me hungry! But up to 15 dollars for three tacos from a humble taqueria with stools and plastic plates... But I suppose I'd be milking that Michelin star too!
Yea they are pricey for tacos. And actually, the prices have been this way long before the Michelin rating. It’s our understanding that the owner used to cater to politicians or some subgroup of wealthy customers. We couldn’t confirm so ended up not mentioning it in the video.
@@EatBailaTravel wow that's interesting. Such contacts probably came in handy (if true) for the Michelin thing
That does not look worth the wait, give me 20 minutes I’ll make some fresh salsa roja and verde , use local handmade corn tortillas or if you want to wait a little make my own and even chop the beef.
Mexican food , is incredible but pretty easy to make .
I cringe at the bowl of salsa too how many tables has that been on already. People double dipping ,, coughing all over it possibly. Hard pass on that place. Hard
I’d come have some of your tacos! Totally don’t need to wait more than 20 minutes anywhere ever to get a good taco for sure
Feliz lunes
Feliz lunes! Espero y tengas una linda semana

First time Ive watched you guys and the complaining is big turn off. Buzz kill. No one wants to hear complaining bout waiting or lack of seating. Delicious food and vibes not complaining.
Those tacos are meh how are we gonna let french critics judge a taco there tons of others that truly deserve it .
