      @@Serenity_S3 I have no idea
The Knight has the potential to kill literal gods. I mean, look what happened to the Radiance. However, he is a bug, and if he is bug sized Omori would be able to take him out easly with a fly swatter or something.

    • @Serenity_S3
      @Serenity_S3  3 года назад +271

If you think about it they're quite similar
Sunny is human and the Knight is a bug, in that way, the Knight doesn't stand a chance, even though I don't think they ever tell the height of the Knight, which could probably be taller than omori. I dont think so tho.
The only way the Knight can fight omori is in sunny's dreams, which he can easily enter using his sword
The dreamworld is a superficial world above black space, which is its true nature
The Knight can control the abyss, which can be seen in his fight with the radiance, inside Hollow knight's dreams, implying the abyss is not only in his bug World, but in everyones Dreams, or at least in the Hollow Knight ones
As we know, sunny also has an abyss, which is controlled by omori (I havent played the hikikomori route yet), so...
I think wins the one who gets total control of the abyss

I realized something. When you play as Omori, the dialogue options are "Fight!" and "Run...". The punctuation, however, flips when you play as Sunny. The game was telling you Sunny was trying to run away from everything for his whole life, right from the first battle as him.

Omori and something seems to be two separate entity. Am I the only one thinking that something is not actually trying to harm Sunny? But rather to help him accept his guilt and becoming a better person by making him face his greatest fear. When Something kidnap Basil in White Space, it must be because it wants Sunny to reach his hand to the real Basil and realise that his friends in White Space are completely fake and empty. Every fight with something, Marie help us by giving us a new move that makes the fight a peace of cake... well... knowing that Mari IS Something that makes sense. I feel like when Something appear in the mirror it doesn't say "I hate you." but "Don't forget.". Omori in the other hand wants to kill Sunny and make him stay away from his friends (and just stay in White Space until the very end). You know the "door jumpscare"? The distorded face of Marie seems to appear at the end of Omori boss fight and in one of the door of Black Space. With this I think that Omori have created this halucination to scare Sunny and make him feel even more guilty. When you see it in the mirror it clearly says "murderer".

Especially when you consider what the piano means to him. It is intertwined with his sister, Mari, and the fact that the piano is distorted in this song makes me think the distortion is caused by his guilt. I don't think that's the case.
OMORI was created to protect Sunny from the truth.
By remembering the truth, Sunny is threatening to hurt himself.
So, OMORI decides that there's only one way to protect Sunny from himself-
By making sure Sunny never hurts again.
And the only way to do that... The only way to permanently end the pain...

I don't think I've seen a better depiction of guilt and depression in just about any medium before this game. At last a story that doesn't try to pretend like overcoming fear and shame and self-loathing is as simple as "believing". The fact that Omori "does not succumb" to me just screams of the incredible resilience of a person's inner voice to fight back. There's sadly no reason why those dark voices can't make sense if you listen to them long enough and it goes to show how sometimes it really can become a terrifying experience before you can even try to overcome it. Even then, it's not like the consequences of Sunny's actions will just leave him forever but it's beautiful that this battle could represent the first steps in taking back the direction of one's mind and life even when it's straight into the most painful parts of their past. I can't believe how much I love this game.

Throughout this whole game, I never died unless they were scripted or several of the real life segments which honestly I do not count since they aren't designed for a fair fight. But I fought omori here and I died twice before reaching the final duet. This moment was such a powerful experience to me, the unimaginable pain and patience Sunny needed to overcome the very thing that kept him alive through the course of 4 horrifying years of pure isolation. Not only from his friends but his family itself. Perhaps its just me but it seems highly unlikely a parent would leave their son alone for days straight with almost to no food for him. No parent would let this slide, not to mention he is their only son. Its mentioned how the parents probably do know what Sunny did and they undeniably resent him for it. Nowhere in this boss sequence did Sunny ever have the glimpse of his mother giving him the hope and forgiveness he needed. He had no one to go to yet Omori was there to comfort him. Comfort is something everyone can associate with. Damaged people resort going back to abusive relationships just for the comfort in their own minds programmed to remain unhinged by their own traumatic experiences. Anyone can understand Sunny, for that reason fighting Omori becomes more daunting by the second. You don't want to do this...but you have to...you need to. Every time I died it felt as if Sunny came back again to face acceptance for his actions. Through all the muddled ignorance he built up for so long he will finally persevere his own demons. For that becomes a slow descent not much or less painful than the last. You feel the weight behind every slash, every single time you take time to cherish the people you needed all along, every time you calm down to pull yourself back together. It all counts, omori won't hesitate just as much as Sunny won't either. This ending and boss is one of the most beautiful and compelling things to ever exist in this medium. It made such a huge impact on me that I'm not sure if I'll ever touch this game again, maybe I'll return to see Sunny in my menu and hear the soothing sound of knowing that he is now in a better place. How would I ever want to disrupt that? I really started rambling here and my message will probably be buried with the rest. But my love and message towards this moment will forever remain eternal. Kudos to Omocat and the rest of the team. I always believed in all of you too, I waited and would have waited more to experience this game. This truly was a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you.

But it had to be done if Sunny needed to move on with his life, he needed to erase both Omori and White Space to actually live in reality. Everyone else would experience the WORST kind of emotional whiplash there is. The group that drifted apart after Mari's death finally reconcile and come back together, and they finally spend some time together like they used to. Then BOOM, in less than a day, they experience a similar tragedy that forced them apart to begin with. Maybe it might make them drift apart again, maybe it might make their bonds more stronger through grief. each time we see Sunny solo in a fight, he’s against one of his fears.
we can also note that Omori’s design is based off of how Sunny looked the night he pushed Mari down the stairs, or well, the night everything began.
the phobia Sunny is fighting is the fear of the boy he saw in the mirror that night-himself.
the reason why Omori is so evil is not because he’s a physical representation of Sunny’s inner feelings, it’s actually something else.
Omori is everything that Sunny saw himself as that night. A murder.
and yet, that’s only Sunny’s depiction of who Omori is. as we saw in the dreamworld, Omori was just a kid who wanted to be with his friends and his sister.
if Sunny had paid attention, he would’ve realized sooner that the murder he thought he was was just a kid who wanted to be happy.

    • @chunkmcbeefnob717
      @chunkmcbeefnob717 2 года назад +42

Indeed. Sunny's perception of himself is that he's an unforgivable monster, but any objective observer could see he never meant to kill his sister. Hell, he didn't even want to hurt her. He was just doing what little kids do and acting out against their sibling.
It's not even that uncommon for kids to push each other down stairs. You don't want to encourage that of course but a lot of brothers and sisters have acted out in that way against each other. Kids do stupid things. They don't expect that those reckless, stupid actions could end in one of them badly hurt or dying. That it could actually mean the loss of someone they love dearly, forever, at their own hands no less. It just doesn't enter their heads in that moment because they're children. Which makes it all the more horrifying when something truly irreversible does happen, because you know it's not totally their fault, but they'll never be able to believe that.
And this is exactly what happens with Sunny. Of course it would make him hate himself and retreat from reality, because what nightmare could possibly be worse than facing the truth? Why wouldn't such a young, vulnerable mind want instead to just bury himself into his own personal wonderland, remembering days in which he were happy with all the people he loved and nothing bad ever happened? Hell, grown adult trauma victims often turn to drugs and alcohol for exactly this same reason, to escape reality. How much worse for a child?

It looks like while Something is the embodyment of Sunny's guilt over the framing of his sister's death, Omori has become the very thing that Sunny hates the most. Himself. If you think about it, if you did every sidequest to try to squeeze the Dream World as much as you can, it's like if you tried to avoid continuing as much as possible. In the end, the dream world isn't as dreamy as one thinks and I ended up being terrified of it when I understood that this was Sunny's perfect world inside his head, all just to avoid all his guilt. Everything will be okay, but the only thing that was keeping you, SUNNY, from being okay was yourself.

Sunny remembers to calm down, because if he hadn’t forgotten to calm down during the fight with Mari he wouldn’t have pushed her in anger and wouldn’t have developed a phobia of heights. if he had calmed down he also wouldn’t have panicked when he saw the spider.
Sunny remembers to focus, because when he saw the spider he lost focus of what he was doing and only thought of the thing on his shoulder, falling from the place he was on and wouldn’t develop a phobia of spiders if he had focused on not falling.
Sunny remembers to persist because if he hadn’t given up and tried to swim instead of waiting to be saved, he might have saved himself from the water and Mari wouldn’t have to fear her brother drowned and he wouldn’t developed a phobia of water.

kel represents the tuning pegs, he would always try his best to fit his attitude in, even when sometimes it wasnt perfect and someone had to "turn it around"
aubrey and basil represent the strings. they were both taken aback when they found out mari was dead. and they both had some anxiety, basil and aubrey were the same deep in their heart but they both dealt with it in different ways, basil shutting himself out and aubrey ghosting all of them, getting mad at them st the stsrt of 3 days left. aubreys the hogher notes (due to her 50/50 mental health after getting new friends ) and basils the lower notes (due to his mental health before and after splitting up with the group)
omori/sunny represent the bow. all of their lives played on in sunnys head like it was a bow playing strings. even got realistic emotions snd happiness in his mind before facing the truth, could be symbolizing that the bow broke.
hero and mari represent the bridge that hold the strings up. mari and hero were the ones who put them all together again. like a puzzle, hero snd mari almost always had a bright snd cheerful mindset. and when one peice of the bridge breaks, you have to get a new one. when mari died, that was like the bridge breaking. hero had to get a new life, without her.

I normally don’t cry over video games, but this track…this specific part of the game…broke me.
Throughout the game, I’ve had speculation over who the bad guy was, causing all of Sunny’s pain. At first I thought it was Mari, because when Basil dropped the photo in that one scene, he said Mari’s name with a look of terror. After a while, I thought it was Aubrey, because of her personality in the real world. For a time I thought it was Basil, because of how he kept saying “forgive me” in the latter parts of the game.
I never in a million years would have imagined the “bad guy” all along was Omori himself. The character I’ve been controlling the majority of the game. Sunny’s guilt.
I was worried that the final boss of the game would be too predictable. But this game absolutely blew my mind.

@@cattmilkk not really the hairy hanging thing represents his guilt and even in game some npcs in black space refer to omori as evil in a way they are close but they dont represent the same thing, omori from white space seems to represent his desire to be punished which is why hes antagonistic and tries to make sunny kill himself and omori from black space (the red one) is more like a cornered animal that desperatly tried to hide what he had done in his outburst of anger but in the most aggressive and bizzare ways,a good way to put it would be to say white space is the superego, sunny is the ego and black space is the id and yo cant really destroy them without destroying yourself which is way you cant beat the final boss only absorb him and accept that sunny is a bad person and finally stops blaming Basil and non existent monsters for what he did,its a very fascinating thing really

Having to fight him hurt me, I know he's the bad part of Sunny, I know he was spouting horrible things to him but. His expression looked so pained, and with the music. It felt unfair. A creature who could not feel, born into this world to be destroyed or to destroy. Its so tragic.

I don't think Omori was saying anything during that fight. Omori's still the silent stoic main character he was in mindspace. Those words came from SOMETHING, an ambiance to set the scene of the fight just as much as the music and the hands. And Omori wanted to stop SOMETHING just as much as Sunny did.

I like to think that OMORI, after hearing Sunny's acceptance of his feelings, his past, what he'd done and facing reality through his duet with Mari, realised he wasn't needed anymore. He'd been an embodiment for Sunny in the dream world to protect him from his past, from the painful truth of what he'd done and towards the end represented everything Sunny had to face - the lies he told himself to disconnect from reality, his self-hatred, his guilt and loneliness - but now he's not needed anymore. Sunny is strong enough to face reality without another alias, without another world, not as OMORI, but as Sunny.

@@slayre1408 He was a defense mechanism gone horribly awry, but at his core, he was doing what he thought was right to protect Sunny. Why would anyone ever want to face such a horrible truth about themselves? Why would anyone turn away from the bliss of ignorance to face THAT? And so he fought to conceal the truth. And once it was laid bare, how could anyone ever keep marching forward, knowing that about themselves? How could they live with that much guilt? And so he fought, to turn away from the pain of living life under such a burden. It's not until the Final Duet that Omori understands that this IS what Sunny wants. Sunny knows it will be painful, he knows it will be difficult, but he has decided that his friends and his life are worth bearing that burden for.

I just wanna take some time to say that... if you are struggling from guilt, depression, suicidal thoughts, or even PTSD, you are valid... no matter how small the reason, you are a valid person, or persons, and you deserve to be happy once again. Even though it's hard, you still gotta get back up and fight it to the bitter end.
I for one, struggle from guilt over how I treated my ex, in terms of jealousy. I struggle to find it in my heart to forgive myself, and the realization that... I will never have what I had with them again, even though I apologized, even though I told them I'm sorry... they moved on to someone else not long after... my heart was shattered, and now I live every day with the guilt, and the burden that... I fucked up, and I hurt them... and that they will never come back to me because of it... in a way, I relate to the words Omori says "She loved you, and you killed her" my ex never died... but, the words twist into something fitting for my situation every time. "They loved you, and you hurt them" "They loved you, and you never trusted them"
guilt can hit people differently.. so can depression... and I just hope that I don't find myself giving up the fight against those feelings...

So since everyone is going to say some of their thoughts, I kinda want to now. I doubt anyone will read this but it feels nice to let things out.
I never played the game, but watched a play through and let me say this helped me realize so much. I related with Sunny in the sense of creating an escapism. Now I didn’t push my sister down the stairs or anything but my family life was complicated. The most I’ll say is that I live with my aunt (on father’s side) who I call mom and used to visit my (bio) mom and my siblings. I can’t visit my dad because I don’t have a passport but he did not leave willingly is all I’m going to say. I never really found this entire thing as a problem and never really realized I created an escapism until watching the play through of this game. This actually made me cry rather than the final duet because I related with fighting a part of yourself because you want to keep ignoring reality and think of your life ideally. Also, I am still young (age range 13-15 is all I’ll say) and I’m still accepting and figuring things out. Never really noticed I had problems lol.
Anyway, that’s my input! Let me also say that I’m (pretty sure) in a good mental state so if anyone does read this, I’m pretty good! My family life is better significantly (more communication and stuff.)

To think, when I was only 14, I believed if I didn’t kill myself before high school then my death wouldn’t be meaningful, and no one would miss me. I’m 20 years old today. Omori was the game that showed me, showed me how someone’s death can affect the people around them for years. I remember my little brother, who happens to have a similar age gap with me to Mari and Sunny. We used to bicker a lot as kids, sometimes the arguments got physical. A lot of this game resonated with me, especially as I was isolated with no liscense during the pandemic. But nowadays, what truly punches me in the gut is picturing my little brother, who’s now the same age as Sunny, placed in that position. When I was 16 and he was 12, I could see how depressed he was becoming, I could see how he was going through what I had gone through at 14, and hell was still going through. And, after seeing the way Mari’s death rips Sunny apart, even though he was shy and closed off, it showed me in a very real way the truths I had been pushing away. That my brother, despite being an angsty 12 year old, loved me. And I loved him, even despite the arguments, and the misunderstandings, and the frustration that we weren’t on the same page. I’m so glad I found this game, because imagining my brother in Sunny’s position, with an older sister lost to suicide after an argument. Having to see me in the coffin. It destroys me, to think I would have put him and the rest of my family through that hell. But that’s what’s so scary about depression. You think you’re doing them a favor, you feel like suicide is the answer to the mistakes you’ve made and the shortcomings. It’s not. The answer is to Continue. I’m gonna give my brother a hug when I’m home from college.

Goddamn bro, this soundtrack is just so beautiful, sad, and chaotic at the same time. I felt emotional in final duet but barely sobbed to it, but this one is a whole different story. All it has is a loop of a violin playing something (NOT MARI) and distorted noises, yet it still made me cry. The things Omori said shook my heart a lot, thank you so much you psychopath literally white knife-wielding child. I can't express how much I love this soundtrack. Another thing, I love Sunny and Omori so damn much. Even though they are the same person, they're still different in their own way. Omori's silly little lore is so well done, at least from what I think. Sunny is very miserable, please give the child a damn break he's had fucked up shit in his mind and he hated himself more than anyone ever did ever since Mari died (because of him lmaoooo skill issue).
What the fuck am I even saying? Oh yeah, it's an excuse to make my comment longer so that I can type even more shit. It's just that I like seeing stuff like this.
me when I have to fight my pasty white version of myself that helps me cope in an unhealthy way to overcome my trauma and accept that I did those but he ends up telling me to commit sewerside (we're so silly)
