@@overrungarage no worries at all buddy, I realised before going to town on the car - snow kicked in before I managed to fit mine, but I also have turbo back exhaust, shocks and springs, spacers, anti lift kit…. Shit I’ve got a lot to fit xD
Did mine last week....and the original was completely separated more than yours, my smile was as big as yours being it's my 1st gti and going from no boost tooooo having boost was very happy with the cost to outcome ratio.
Just fitted one on my 2007 Octavia with it stage 1. It had 267bhp 382nm so I’m smiling again my exact same rubber was broken and leaked so it lacked on turbo boost. First I thought hmmm I did put 98 octane in and thought: is the Stage 1 gone? But like said here in 4,5 and 6-th it felt like a normally aspirated engine. Now it’s fast and nippy as hell again. Excellent thing to install.
Hi..so can I just use the spring that came off the standard DV?? Because I fitted the one that came with the kit a couple of days ago and I got the engine management light on there today and am pretty sure thats what it is.
Hi mate, I’m not sure why it happens but I ve seen people saying that using the standard spring can help with the eml problem, give it a go and if not save yourself the headache and go for a Rev G standard diverter, they’re actually required by r-tech if you were to have them tune your car 👍
Good vid mate don’t like the chav rear lights but each to there own,I had the forge diverter valve on mine sounded mint but got sick of it eventually,I had problems with mine stalling all the time when coming to a stop so took dv of and all working sweet again
I can’t really tell if my car is leaking or not , it does have pick up but only sometimes but idk if it’s my driving or the car , and there’s no leak sound but the intake does hiss when acceleration below 2k rpm sometimes , can anyone help or recommend . Many thanks
For me the biggest giveaway was there was no big surge when on boost. It didn’t throw you back in your seat. After changing the DV I noticed it instantly, boosted way harder and healthier
@@overrungarage it turns out I acc had no leak at all , I still changed the DV tho but for some reason I hear less from my intake now but the power feels amazing and quite frankly speaking I would pick power over the flutters , the intake still flutters slightly not as much as with the revision G for me . But the car flys , thank you for the amazing content
Hi! I’ve recently bought a mk5 gti, never commented on a RUclips video in my life but I feel I might have the same problem as you. Seems to have a boost leak but I’ve all pipes tightened and retained in! Any help is welcome, lovely looking motor, tinted tail lights look very smart!
Sounds like a similar issue mate! Such a common problem on these cars, fortunately it's an easy job. I'd buy a new DV before taking the old one off and just replace it even if it wasn't dead as it will inevitably die at some point!
Morning mate, recently got a MK5 gti myself seems to be some sort of misfire and noticed if i try boot it seem to sometimes want to hesitate for a minute then come back on boost? also noticed a like screaming noise from front end when giving it some ? any ideas on what it could potentially be?
What mileage is it on mate? Could be a boost leak somewhere or injectors could be clogged / intake valves full of carbon. Mines currently having the injectors cleaned and valves walnut blasted which will be in next video, I had similar symptoms so will see if this rectifies it. As for the screaming noise probably just turbo whining, probably nothing to worry about if it’s holding boost ok
@@overrungarage Its got 163k miles seems to boost but when the screaming noise comes it seems to dimish in boost for a few seconds until it goes someone said maybe the PCV valve or somert.
@@mrwoody6634 yeah possibly mate sounds like a boost leak somewhere , maybe get it smoke tested to check for leaks mate could be so many things with these cars 😅 👍
Think I may have to give this a go myself! Have you had any loss of power issues since? I’ve got a 1.4 GT it seems to pull fine at first but once the engine has warmed up I loose all power when I hit 3000rpm in any gear. It’s getting incredibly frustrating to deal with 😂
Nice work buddy! Going to fit mine shortly but wondered if you had replaced your PCV? This too is a common issue. A symptom for me was poor starts - I bought a PCV Delete kit and it’s gone, may be worth a check :) looking forward to more videos!
There will just be a lack of boost, power delivery will be a lot more linear. Usually when accelerating fast from a standstill you’ll feel the turbo kick in and it’ll ‘throw’ you back in your seat a bit. You won’t get that with a faulty DV.
Have a similar issue with my mk5 gti, I want to try the diverter valve first but bit more worried there is a deeper issue as after 30 mins of driving my car would go into limp mode then start back up and drive normally for another 15 mins and die again. Any advice would be great!
Question! You say it’s on the passenger side but then jack up the drivers side - which is it?’ 🧐
Ooo, very well spotted! It is on the drivers side, my mistake 😅😅I will update the video :)
@@overrungarage I went to jack up the passenger side and went HANG ON A BLOODY MINUTE xD all good

The difference is crazy isn’t it! Absolutely, these mk5s are such good bang for buck (when they work!)

Just ordered one of these this morning hoping it will fix my boost issue! Great video 👍
Hope it fixes the issue for you mate! Nice easy fix if it does 😄
Nice one m8, glad it sorted the boost issue. 👍 The new number plates look so much better too. 👌
Thanks mate, feels like a new car now and those old number plates needed to go!
Wooop my OEM Diverter was so gone just upgraded to the GFB as well, fire 🔥
Ok im going to buy one today ❤
bro, a question I have a forge relief valve on my mk6 I would like to know if I can add a spacer to the same valve
Is this GFB DV better than the stock DV valve, got a mk5 GTI myself and it runs fine but was wondering if it was worth upgrading the DV anyway?
Hello, what fault codes did you have come on initially? Thanks
No fault codes mate, just no boost! Found out on the dyno when it ran 140hp 🤣

I had a boost leak turn out it was a hole in the intercooler where you couldn't see it with out taking it out or moving the bumper.

Does it make the turbo have better induction whistle and blow off sounds
I think so yes, when you let off the throttle it gives more of a 'blow off' sound. I have a RAMAIR intake so deffo sounds nice!
