Hi Jackson, thank you for featuring one of our parts, we especially like the how-to of replacing the factory with the DV+. Great video and we hope you continue to enjoy the DV+.
My GLI actually came with the GFB DV+ so… I don’t know what it’s like without it. -oh and my car is now APR 93 high torque, with and a South Bend clutch. I’m calling it “Stage 1+”.
I should really give one of these a shot in my own car too! I feel my OEM DV acting up every once in a while and replacing it with the newest revision OEM a while back didn't fix it. Glad you're enjoying it and glad to be able to help again! Great video as usual!! ❤
@@rudydaberry122 at certain part-throttle inputs, I’ll get this air leaking sound and feel no boost for a second and then I will hear the noise change and feel it start pulling and hitting boost. I do believe it could be something in the software though as EQT has released a revision targeting part throttle DV issues.
Agreed, the car is not faster, imo, but is more responsive as if it is naturally aspirated under 3k, holds boost in the lower powerband area. On my MK6 DSG, holds slightly more boost halfway on the throttle, before the step down (resistance point). While when WOT is a few psi less, but maintains them on each gear. I read the ECU takessa while to relearn and should increase a few psi at full throttle.
The GFB DV+ doesn't do anything superior to the stock diverter valve. What you experienced, was a "warn" DV and replaced it. However, you are still using the main body of the original and simply putting in GFB pieces to refresh it. GFB's information is out dated and the newer versions like "J" work the exact same way. However, they will begin to wear w/o throwing a code. When your throttle response begins to decrease it's more likely the DV.
Is that flutter noise while on high boost normal on this car? I would be very annoyed by it after a few hours driving it, heck in less than an hour most likely lol
Whattup dogg? I just installed the ECS diverter valve spacer on my GTI yesterday. Sounds pretty good and I've read that people stack it with the GFB DV+ with custom longer bolts. Might be my next mod. Why does your car have that whining sound during acceleration? Great video man. I like how your garage is coming along 👍
@mygolfmk7209 look man, I get that you have a website with all your bench testing and I appreciate that you're doing that for VW owners. I'm not saying you're going to randomly lose boost pressure, I'm saying at low throttle, the DV opening with the spacer was jarring and would get surges in pressure and have none at all before the DV closed. It's just how it was. I'm not gonna debate you in the comments on a RUclips video.
does this flag anything on the ecu? im stil under warranty so just wondering if thats something they could tell, worst comes to worst i figured if something breaks flip back to stop. also is that electric whine from the boost gauge?
@@ColoredinLight Oh ok perfect thank you . Was kind of iffy on buying one because my gauge only shown 20 psi when my tune is for 22-25 psi so I wasn’t sure
can i install a blow off valve on top off that ..i have but it seems there both not working could the old valve solenoid not working ?it was working intermatly b4
@@ColoredinLight ok im just curious as i think my soniod wasnt working properlyas it was letting off boost at very low revs and then gains the boost and let off agin wen i decelerate
How are you posting a product without that being in your details or description? And why’s there a Miata parts list when this is a GTI? Need to fix that ASAP rocky
I've been running the DV+ for about a year now and I truly cannot tell if it's helping or hurting my driving experience. I'm about to swap it out for the stock DV to compare because this thing has me so skeptical
My initial impressions definitely noticed a change. I have yet to feel the strange sudden boost like I did in low throttle situations before installing.
In the GFB DV+ instructions about using the main spring, which is the short strong spring that sits under the brass piston, it states that using the spring can cause the ECU to throw check engine lights and P2261 error codes. I didn't want to risk it, so I have the DV+ installed without this main spring, that way I keep the stock operation of the solenoid but with the ability to throw as much boost pressure as I want. I have had zero issues in this configuration for the past 5 years of use. Had the car tuned recently and the DV+ copes beautifully and pulls very hard with the increased torque and BHP!
@@ravipoye So you were able to use the OEM spring with it? I've had the GFB DV+ in my garage for several months after later hearing about issues when using it including the engine codes you mention.
@@davegran1395No, there are two springs, a thin spring under the black metal plate (black plunger), and the smaller thicker spring just under the brass piston. He said he installed the upgraded DV without the one under the brass piston. You cannot use the stock thin spring, is too long compared to the one that comes with the kit.
Yea idk why it sounds like that. My peak boost numbers are all in range and I've checked for leaks. Best guess is the intake set ups, and microphone specific issues.

You can be a Miata and GTI fan at the same time. I currently own a NC2 Miata and owned a MKV GTI in the past.
That's good!
Both outstanding cars, designed for different reasons.

I appreciate the comment. I wasn't sure if I was replacing a worn or "warn" diverter valve initially but I'm glad you clarified
I ran one of these for a while, noticed it spitting oil after some time on a brand new MK8
came here dv+. staying for the Miata
Appreciate you
Me sirvió mucho, saludos desde chile
Hey brothah, sick ride and awesome video. Question, what garage lights are those? Love the info.
Barrina! I've had them in both my garages now and they're super affordable and work really well.
@@ColoredinLight lol, literally on Amazon looking at these haha thanks brothah
You forgot to lubricate those brass pistons with engine oil before assembly.
Without it, it may get stuck after some time.

I want to see what it does stock and with dv+ on the dyno that will explain much more.
You're not gonna gain horsepower from this
Had a NC3 Miata and followed you now just picked up a mk2 Audi TT with the EA888.
VWs are all new to me.
Do you have a “best mods” list or video?
Congrats on the new car! My ownership in review videos have all the mods and links to my mod list!

I wouldn't run that DV spacer for long, you will constantly lose boost pressure
@@ColoredinLight yeah I've heard that. Sounds pretty cool though. You like the DV+ still?
I mean it's literally a boost leak the moment the DV opens. If the DV is an enclosed system, adding a spacer makes it open.
🤦♂️

Unless your DV is already broken, this should not cause a CEL.
What's that whirring when you step on it?
what lubricant did you use on the piston? how is it holding up one year later?
All good still. I can't remember exactly.
Would this affect your tune at all? Or would you need a tune with this?
I did not retune and have not had issues
With The New DV+ Can You Upgrade The Second Spring You Put In ? I’ve Seen Websites That Sells Springs For Higher Boost
I wouldn't, the DV is electronically controlled and the car is already tuned for more boost.
@@ColoredinLight Oh ok perfect thank you . Was kind of iffy on buying one because my gauge only shown 20 psi when my tune is for 22-25 psi so I wasn’t sure
20 sounds about right, from factory without a tune these cars about 14 to 15 psi

I believe it's one or the other. The DV valve acts as an internal bov, recirculating the air back into the intake system
