      @@carl5192 Yes, love the almost informal way she addresses him. I also enjoyed the portrayal of "Pipes" as a typical Scottsman. When the Queen asks him to play the tune, he realizes she means now, He goes, "what? now?" like he's talking to his brother or something. Totally forgets himself and who he is talking to.

      Pipes was a name given to the monarchs personal piper. Her first Pipes also served her father, George VI. When he retired, m'am chose her new Pipes, and that's what's depicted here, and what happened at Westminster of Her Majesties funeral.

    The actor playing 'Pipes' did a fantastic job of conveying the emotional punch he felt when being asked his own preference for the song. You can feel the immense honor he felt at her request. Well done.

    That the Queen rewarded Pipes' years of service with HIS choice of Lament shows how much she respected the man. And wasn't it the perfect lament at the end of the funeral?
    Well done Ma'am you did us proud. Duty done. Rest in peace.

      Pipe Major Paul Burns who played at The Queen’s funeral have only been The Sovereign’s Piper since 2021 so it was probably not his choice… But ofcourse earlier made choices was to be respected and honoured by anyone who happened to have the job when she died

      @@rickardnyberg4899 The passage shown in the video was clearly from a very earlier time than 2021 by which time the Queen was becoming very frail and poorly and arrangements had long been made. So I suspect Pipes in the video was Scott Methven, who served as the Queen's piper between 2015 and 2019

      Is being that my family hails from scottish heritage, I am sure you know my opinion of the british colonists... But queen elizabeth the second, She did something different with her reign entirely. I mean obviously I never knew the woman, But she had a kindness about her, She had a care for those under her monarchy symbolic, though it was at that point. She was unique in a type of job where you were not allowed to be and she did it in a flawless way while maintaining that royal stability. There will never be another like her, Not in my lifetime at least and Lord willing. I have quite a few years left to live. God bless you dear queen and god speed.

      @@1chishStill pretty recent. I’m thinking they probably made her funeral arrangements during her golden jubilee year in 2012. I’m sure there was a sketch for operation London bridge as soon as she became queen at 25 and they kept Refining it through the years. Pipers lament maybe the last element as it’s the last piece of the service.

      Lookwise, Imelda doesn't ressemble the late Queen Elizabeth so much but that's not the point. It is meant to evoke her, not impersonate her. And I think she did a marvellous job.

      @@ericabertagnoli5469 nah Pipes would have had the closest relationship with Her Majesty outside of family. Pipes would wake her every morning she woke in Balmoral. And before him, was also Pipes. The most recent Pipes, that we saw at her funeral, was recently new - he had "only" been in the position for a few years when she died.

      Corny as this may sound, I was(still am) profoundly affected by her passing even though I wasn't one of her subjects (Mexican lawyer here). Her passing effectivily marked the end of the 20th century and the end of an era. Her legacy even to countries that never were under her scepter will not fade for generations.

    How good of an actress do you have to be just to convey a wide array of emotions without uttering a single word nor sound, with only expressions on a single, uncut shot, that gets progressively closer to her face, crying on cue and letting us read everything on her face alone? Imelda Staunton is just fantastic. This is great acting.

    There are very few things us Brits can do , but damn it we do know how to put on a ceremony , when the Queen was buried the one bit that really got me, and still does , was the piper walking away after playing this in the cathedral

      100% I blub like a child every time I watch that. I watched the entire funeral with my mum. Neither of us had known life without Elizabeth being Queen. When I saw my first Australian 50c piece with Charles on it, it was a real moment.

      I think it was a strategic choice to end the series where it did, because had it been been any closer to the present day, it would've had to deal with increasingly hot-button issues and controversies, many of which are still for lack of a better term, unresolved. This includes everything from Trump, to Prince Harry's adult escapes, to the royal family's possible entanglement with the Epstein case; none of which really puts the royal house in a positive light.

    I recently had to organise my mothers funeral, she is still very much alive but is 90. I didn't expect it to be so emotional especially when I was asked to choose a casket and decide what she would wear. It was very hard to do. I chose a wicker basket and a will make her a dress covered in butterflies. I dread that day as everyone else has gone on ahead, my little sister, my little brother, my dad.

    As a performer myself I know how nerve-wracking it normally is to have to perform something at the drop of a hat, and to choose a song of the top of my head. I can just imagine how it would feel to do it for your monarch to choose a funeral song before the fact.

    Goodness, I'm not a fan of the bagpipes, but that was incredible. Brought tears to my eyes, remembering the events of that period of sadness. HM Elizabeth II will always be THE Queen for me. I was born during her reign and became a senior citizen during her reign. Without her, I have no interest in the monarchy. Sleep Dearie, sleep in the arms of your beloved Philip.

    All three actors playing the Queen were superb. There is a moment in each 2 year segment which illustrates their gift. This I think is the scene for Ms. Staunton.

      I recently drove upto and visited Scotland on a coach trip and had the privilege of hearing the bagpipes being played. It truly raised the hairs on my skin to hear such beautiful music being played with precision and honour.

    I have never been a fan of the Royal Family, however, the Queen will always have my respect - I am sure she did the best she could inheriting a position she may never have wanted. RIP Your Majesty.

    Amazing Grace was played on the bagpipes for my father’s funeral. Truly one of the most beautiful sounds on Earth. Thank you for sharing ❤️

    Being half Northern Irish, half English, the pipes cut deep into my soul every time I hear them. I suppose I'm in the same sort of place as the late Queen, having both sides of me mixed together , but never separable.
    She was Queen of Scotland , and Queen of England. I am me of Ireland and me of England.

    I was really gonna cry if he mentioned Amazing Grace. That's my dad's favorite song, but it can only be played on the bagpipes.

      I beg to differ. It can be played beautifully on the organ if it's done correctly. It was one of my late grandmother's favorite's and I used to play it for her.
