This is, and so far always will be, my favorite SimCity. It was incredible and had everything. It had the graphics (for back then), it had the music, it had the different density zoning, the map elevations, the highways, the gifts, the map size, the building replacing, and the list goes on and on. I still have it on my computer and play it to this day. I couldn't even begin to tell you the amount of hours I have sunk into this game over my life.
I bought SimCity 3000 Unlimited at Walmart and remember it coming with a big spiral-bound instruction manual that explained how everything worked in the game. I'd take that manual to school and read it between classes
I was a teen-ager when this came out and its just solidified in my nostalgic brain. The soundtrack really got me into jazz/lounge. Thanks for the production titbits.
Hello, I found your channel from the Eddie Slovik video. I've played this and sim city 2,000 alot aswell. Shame sim city 3,000 never used hydro power like in the 2,000. I really love that you used the sim city music in the video, a very nice touch! Have you ever played Streets of Sim City? A game where you drive a car through any sim city 2000 map/file.
“a few months before i was born“ 😳 in 1999 i was 8 already 😭 i'm old i loved SimCity3000 it was my first entry in the series. Hundreds of hours were sunken into it by me 😄
I probably ended up playing SC4 the most, but 3000 was definitely my favorite in the series. Really scratched that itch of being just complicated enough to sink loads of time into and yet still casual enough for it to be super chill to play.
The way the graphics look reminds me of Rollercoaster tycoon 1 and 2, I can imagine they're both in the same universe. Like the rollercoaster tycoon theme parks are located within sim city 3000 cities
3000 might have been my favourite. at the very least, it is the most compatible with modern pcs; it still runs perfectly to this day, while 4 is a serious buggy drag.
Getting this to run at 1920x1080 using some ini file adjustments was one of my favorite things, hoping to see about getting it & SimCity 2000 running at 4k resolution whenever I can justify getting a new graphics card that will output it. I know SimCity 2000 will work but 3000 is not always the most compatible with other resolutions.
To be honest, I don't know how a lot of the game works haha. My best suggestion is to make sure there are plenty of road connections between different places and maybe also throw in bus stops and subways where you can, if you have enough money
I was amazed by the 3D screenshots at the time, I remember they were published in a gaming magazine. But in the end I'm happy they didn't go that route, 3D was not ready.

I used to do the same thing with the manual that came with Sid Meier's Civilization IV. Ah to be a kid again

This channel is underrated

It probably won’t look better in 4k because the assets aren’t in hd
@@geggy310 it weirdly enough does look good at heifer resolutions, but it makes it so you can see more of the map at each zoom level.
3000 was the first time they used real recorded music, instead of using MIDI for music playback. Maxis also put the OST in the public.
So much nostalgia 🤩 When I built highways as a kid no one would use it even though a similar road would be 'congested'. Any tips?

@@HistoricalHindsight Oh thanks for replying haha I am convinced it's a bug in SC3 to this day 😂
do u use trains or subways my dad eventually got me to like trains because of sc3k

Id like to play this i 2023
Do all versions of SimCity 3000 have the same advisors?
I think so! They might not, but I didn't read anything saying otherwise
They do!
Given you were born in 1999 I'm surprised Sim City 4 isn't the game you played....
I was always a good few years behind the most current games, across the board, for most of my childhood
