main drains have not been being installed for a few years now, many children were gettting pulled down to it, the only way you can have one now is if you have 2 that are t'd together so there isnt as much suction.
That's why I got more pump hp and to be saf(er), spread drains more than 3' apart, use domed strainers, AND leave the filter off when there are swimmers. I've even had 2 pumps and 2 filters, it's just that I am not a big fan of vacuuming or cleaning the robot.
Having main drains removed sure seems nice. Skimmers works so well! Between skimmers and vacuuming once in a while, what would be the point of even having them?
Hey Kevin, maindrains are a handy addition however, not necessary. They have rules and regulations that go along with their installation. Most builders now just opt out of installing them all together.
I stopped installing main drains as they are the most common part of pool plumbing to fail and the most costly and time consuming to dig up and replace.
@jay I am having a pool built right now and the main drain is an expense to the customer. The contractors are not taking short cuts by not doing it. They are saving the customer a pricey useless addition. I am a customer that doesn't want it. If the pool needs drained you install a cheap hose to your pump and drain it. New pool owners will think its necessary and it's just silly to blanket recommend it.
It’s a Grecian style 14’x28’. I did some patching on it this year and I put the liner in but I’m gonna have to get the bottom refinished in a couple years.
So do we need to lower the digging hole by 2" to accommodate the concrete floor or is it calculated in the measurements already? Adding 2" concrete will reduce the panel's height by 2" (since we need to overlap the panel at the bottom) and will decrease the depth by 2".
If you're in an area with consistent ground water or rain. Steel sides are fine out west where the ground is pretty dry or in gravelly soils where there is lots of drainage. I'm in Maryland, we did ours 7 years ago with the poly after the steel sided one that was here failed from rust, but our environment is humid and has some salt in the air between the Chesapeake and the Atlantic (Eastern Shore next to Delaware).

I have an 18'x36' in my back yard. It's been empty for 6 years now. Of course the liner is toast. The pool-crete has busted up and needs removal. I'm working on cleaning out the weeds and getting it ready for refinishing. I'm a little apprehensive about taking this on because of the unknown. Any tips for a scaredy-cat?
He's suppose to apply Crete up to 2 inch through to the entire lower bottom of the pool walls...the indication line is at the bottom of every wall panel...I don't see him doing it the correct way.
This guy is the icing on the cake. He didn't do all the work but he makes it or breaks it. Respect to him. An Artisan!
These guys did a great job. From the looks of it
A lot of hard work going on there!
Very skillful.

Main drains cut the vacuum time in half. Had both setups.
What was in the squirt bottle he was using on the mortar? Assuming just water.
It’s to help the trowel not pull the material back as you slide the it back and forth.
How come there's no main drains at the bottom of the deep end? I thought those were necessary.

We install main drains on every pool...
They are contractors, whatever they could slide with . Shame

What is your sand to mortar ratio? Plus where are the main drains?
Is it pool krete specifically that mixes so well and buttery looking? The mix looks a lot better than most other vermiculite brands I've seen.
how does they know how thick to apply
I need these guys to work in my pool great video and excellent work
Play what's the cement mix for the outside
Sitting somewhere between back-breaking labor and an artform.
I need my floor refinished. I wonder what the cost is nowadays. In Wetumpka Alabama.

That was by far the hardest part if the build when we built out pool
So there's no need for rebar reinforcement with this pool?
Not on the floor of a Hydra Pools steel wall or polymer wall pool kit!
thank you !!! after replaster pool walls with mortar 3-1ratio can one trowel a layer +- 6mm thick ?

Very speedy finish it seems. But if you cut corners, you can finish a little faster. Uneven lines, unsquare hopper. etc..
How long did it take for them to do this?
this was done the same day!
What is the coverage per bag and can I order it form pool warehouse ???
Hi please find more info on coverage area here: www.poolwarehouse.com/shop/pool-krete-pool-crete/

How can you make this without using a level?
it doesn't have to be that accurate. You're not finishing a slab on wich you gonna raise a building...
The ground us graded as level
Why arent you using reinforcement?
Hi John, this is not a concrete pool and does not require re-bar on the floor of the pool.
@@SwimmingPoolKit what kind of mix did you use?
@@SwimmingPoolKit but then again that is just great and thanx for the vid.
i havent installed one in over 4 years.
