    If you like to exfoliate your skin, then you've probably heard of alpha hydroxy acids (or AHAs). AHAs happen to be my favorite way to exfoliate my skin, so I wanted to share my top three: glycolic acid, lactic acid, and mandelic acid. Watch this video to learn about the benefits of these alpha hydroxy acids, plus see what products I recommend!

    Would love to see lactic acid products from naturium. Like a lactic acid cleanser! I still use dermalogical bc I can’t find any other lactic acid cleanser.

    There is a lot of great information here on various acids. But I’m disappointed that you did not discuss the effectiveness of one of the most available glycolic acid products - L’Oreal Revitalift 10% Pure Glycolic Acid Serum. I would like to know if the L’oréal product compares favorably to others.

    Can Tretinoin be used with Glycolic Acid? A friend uses 20% Glycolic Acid in the morning and Retinoin in the evening and her skin looks beautiful. Thoughts???

      Using an AHA in the morning can increase sun sensitivity. I think it's best to use each product on separate days

      Labmuffin has a great video on this! I believe BHAs are more oil-soluble than AHAs, so in theory, they will benefit benefit those who suffer from oily skin, black heads and white heads and such.

    Is azelic, mandelic or lactic acid best for sensitive skin?

    • @Lenam-rm2bp

      Mandelic acid is best for sensitive

    • @Mixedmakeup
      @Mixedmakeup  Год назад +3

      Mandelic is great if you have clogged pores. Azelaic is great for all around sensitive skin and can even be used by people with rosacea. Lactic is great for people with dry skin.

    Can AHAs cause tanning? I feel like my face gets tanned when I use these often even if I use a lot of sunscreen and I avoid sun as much as possible. I’ve been asking this for a long time and there’s still no answer to me

    • @benjaminnhlam2867
      @benjaminnhlam2867 Год назад +3

      AHAs increase your UV sensitivity and the minimal erythematous dose (typically by UVB) but could theoretically increase your sensitivity to UVA as well.
      Also depending on your skin's ability to tolerate the AHAs, the "tanning" could also be post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

    • @JoseMartinez-vc5nv
      @JoseMartinez-vc5nv Год назад

      @@benjaminnhlam2867 thank you for your answer. You mean that it could be hyperpigmentation on the whole face? Most of the times I exfoliate at night so it might be that. I used to blame vitamin C 🤔

    • @benjaminnhlam2867
      @benjaminnhlam2867 Год назад +1

      @@JoseMartinez-vc5nv I mean depending on how irritated your skin gets, that could happen. It's more likely to be in patches rather than the entire face.
      Also Vitamin C when left on the skin, it does get oxidized and gain an orange tint.

    Can you do an updated routine of how you’ve managed your melasma? from skin care products to professional treatments/procedures, if any.
