Watched a PT make this elderly woman do upright rows, top of every rep the woman said "ow". Trainer wasn't watching her, told her to "push through the pain". It broke my heart
But did she die ? Well there you go. Just kidding, you see all kind of mistakes here and there. Many PT are very good at training themselves but haven't got a clue how to train others. One cannot be a Personal Trainer and not train individuals based on their needs and limitations.
@@dakotasonney2142 You know more than you think. Common sense can't be taught. I guess he won't be missed, but he's probably around somewhere damaging joints .
What about trainers who just go round chatting to people between sets and encouraging them to chat between sets for 15mins holding up equipment and the persons waiting to use the equipment at first patiently are made to feel like they are in the wrong. You come to the gym to train, not have long ‘at a bar’ like conversations holding back people who are there to train. I just wish some were more aware of the others using the gym and not chatting up women.
This is great advice for anyone considering to invest in personal training. Get in early, bs on the elliptical, and watch the trainers BEFORE you interact with them.
listen up personal trainers . As someone who has hired personal trainers, I can tell you my biggest pet peeve is when I’m doing reps & the personal trainer, isn’t paying attention to my form because they are on their phone or not paying attention to my form when I’m doing the exercise for all reps. I’m paying good money and I want you to pay attention when I’m doing the exercise even if it’s my third set and eighth rep.
* takes notes* Im a highly experienced dance teacher and choreographer , but I'm a new trainer. I'm so scared of being a bad trainer and hurting someone 😟 That being said, I can't believe that people actually do stuff like this on the floor 💀💀.
My trainer, a former soccer guy, gave me his meal prep when I’m a 230 lb former lineman and heavyweight wrestler. Wouldn’t change anything about my work out routine in the months I was training and minimal communication. Then on my last week of prep he said screw it let’s give you the same amount of food as this female competitor in the gym on all these drugs. Then after my show (did horribly but was expecting it with the mood training took) I wanted to have a few sessions and paid for them but he stopped contacting me when I had 4 left. Now I’m just going back to training myself and never even bothering with him again.
Worst thing I ever saw was a PT not correcting bad form, his client was overweight and instead of letting her do modified push-ups he made her do the regular ones and booooooyyyyyyy her spine was bending and he just told her "It's fine, you have to start somewhere, push through the pain"....bruh😵
I feel like with new clients, the first 15 minutes of each session should be developing form for movements and lifts the client wants, and then 30 mins -45 mins of machine exercise so they can start developing the muscle. The true value of a trainer is how the can develop form, muscle, and strength within the limited sessions they have which is extremely hard.
I am currently learning through ISSA and I want to know what to do right to be a good trainer. I have the heart for this but the knowledge I want to improve on. Love these podcasts.
‘Eating on the floor’ OMG! That cracked me up, I thought I was the only one who seem to find it so unprofessional. I think trainers want to show off their meal prep / ‘healthy’ eating habits. 😂
knew a trainer in my gym, doing circuit and plyometrics like his client is batman when really his clients are just about to be "not a beginner" constantly trying to book all his clients on Monday and Tuesday, so he can have 5 days weekend... you would expect him to be somewhat invested into his own routine with this tendency... nah, still doing the same stuff like he's batman... everyday is full body, around 20 something reps with the pace equivalent to the speed of light, more than 10 execrise movement per session, weak major lifts, first meal at around 4pm... constantly struggle for proper form\technique, but need to go heavy for Instagram, goes around the gym asking other experienced trainer why his gain isn't coming on, and when confronted with the brutal truth, just said some bs like "I don't wanna talk about it" (lol why even start a conversation at the beginning) we call him the buffet guy... since his execrise routine for him and his client are like the selection at the the buffet, no specific focus, get a little bit of everything and be done with the session
When I’m healed from my injury I plan to hire a trainer . I hope I don’t waste my money . I’m going to get the owner of the gym to pick out a good trainer . I know I don’t lift weights right , so better movement with weights . My goal is to put on some muscles . But mostly stronger and smaller harder muscles . The gym owner told me it can be done . But it will be harder to be get smaller without getting really big .
Had a personal trainer who was on his phone the whole time while I was doing my reps I was so tempted to just walk away because I won’t lie I felt uncomfortable I obviously didn’t walk away but I’m 100% confident if I did he wouldn’t have noticed
If I am not allowed to use my phone at work to be on instagram then my trainer shouldn’t be allowed to be on social media while he is supposed to be training me. 🤦🏽♂️
For food: Does one quickly sneak in a protein bar between a long shift of back-to-back client count? I just realize I do that a lot on my busiest days when I would have no time to eat.
I had a trainer before. He ate a cookie from subway right in front of me. I was down 50pounds but needed to lose another set so I can finally be at a healthy weight. I didn’t think of it at the time but now I realized how discouraging it was because I started binge eating again 🤦🏾♀️ Needless to say since I lost weight the first time on my own I can do it again on my own.
if a cookie a trainer is eating triggers you that much into spiraling into binge eating.. then maybe you dont need a trainer, you need a psychologist. you need to learn to live in the real world. i constnatly post when i eat both healthy and junk food on my IG as a trainer because its important for people to live in the real world. if the real world scares you this much, you need to definitely work on your inner world.
I like to wear training clothes while training, I feel if im relaxed they are too and its easier to create a dialog of understanding between each other but thats just me
i dont understand if this is a troll/joke or a real comment? if it's real, did you just not see anything wrong with the fact that you keep renewing with someone disrespecting you for 3 years? did it not occur to you to find a new trainer? im so confused.
So I just signed up to my new gym for 14 months and after signing up, they told me they will assess me and the PT assessed me and suddenly just hard selling me to hire him as PT and i said I gotta think bout it and just answered me, whats holding you back? I felt disturbed and not comfortable by his gesture. Lol. Any thiughts?
I had a trainer knowing that I’m injured groin/ abductor strain push me and keep the intensity high for 30 min HIT Core + cardio. Clearly I was in pain and my mobility wasn’t the same prior to the injury. They didn’t even remember what I injured asking if my leg was still sore. Lol! No hey remind me what the injury is. No hey modify this station and remember to ice it and stretch it.
Honestly good trainers care they give a fuck about everything there client is doing cause they want there client to be as healthy as possible maximizing each workout
On Monday I have 11 sessions in a row….. if I don’t eat on the floor then I don’t eat….. it’s mainly healthy shit so I’m at least trying to set a good example
I almost always have my phone out when I'm working with clients because I keep all their programs on my phone in the form of a Google doc. Makes me feel slightly self conscious about how it might look but it really is because I'm keeping track of each client's performance and taking notes 🤓
Hey I think it’s okay to drink coffee while im training. Sometimes you have 6am or earlier clients and you need coffee . If my boss came up to me about some mf coffee I’d jus quit 😂

upright rows are horrible for everyone lol!!
one other thing is a trainer who cancels appointments often. hard to build consistency when your trainer isn’t committed to showing up regularly.
Fired instantly after the first incident
Or cuts your session short even though you are paying for the time. Seems like fraud.

From majority of these comments I feel like a friend to go to the gym with is far more beneficial then a personal trainer
Most Personal Trainers are Red Flags.

Thanks for the good laugh. I needed it after a recent bad experience with a personal trainer.
lol!! yep

Wow lol im trying to become a personal trainer and im glad i came across this video!
Had another trainer eating soup while training. Insane
Also constantly talking to their friends or other trainers during a session is a big red flag
Also, cutting time short and having client do simple task like ride a stationary bike and they walk away.
@@nchevrea yes. I see that more with physical therapists. Do 30 minutes on bike, then walk away

Doesn't have schedule. Injuries you all the time. Has bad negative attitude. Talks on his cellphone.
Answers cell phone, or texts during session. Seen that so much. The worst

Absolutely to account for time, gas/ travel etc
