This analysis (understandably) neglects a LOT of variables. The HBE is by no means a just or righteous society, so there's little guarantee that L would remain loyal to his duties after he deduced Zero's identity. Not only that, but there's a good chance that he would deduce that Charles already knew who Zero was around the same time he figured it out himself, especially if it was Charles who set him on the case. L's quest would almost certainly grow to encompass the mystery of Geass, and then it's anyone's guess as to whom he would determine is more dangerous.
If L existed in the Code: Geass universe, there's a good chance that Zero would be informed about his existence, so if there were any hints that he was being investigated, and really there should have been, he'd at least have a chance to take better measures to protect his identity.

I disagree with the profiling segment, everyone assumed Zero was Japanese especially since almost every Brittanian was given privileges to the point a motive wouldn’t exist for them unless you knew Lelouche was still alive which only Charles and the Ashefords knew of. And the context of the dramatics is different for Zero and Light, Light was playing god which pinged as childish while Lelouche as Zero wasn’t unlike some charismatic radicals
Also a big thing with Valetta is she couldn’t remember what Lelouche looked like so she wouldn’t be able to give a description. Not to mention you’re not even addressing a very big plot point here, L is part Japanese, Jeremiah and Valetta probably wouldn’t even talk to him because they’re pure bloods and look down on Japanese
And wait how would L know about C2? The only people that knew about C2 was Clovis and the science team directly under them and wouldn’t disclose that it wasn’t gas to anyone. You’re usually very well researched but this seems very rushed simply to give L a win

If Lelouch can figure out he's being investigated, I think it'd be in character for him to let a trap for L to figure out his identity and have him killed. Lelouch is pretty ruthless. The moment he knows L is investigsting him, he can set up a freak accident like half a damn city collapsing in on itself that L just happened to be in

first of all, lelouch has survived many ideology battles such as Gilford Executing his comrades, also, C.C's existence was nowhere considered in this video, C.C fixes lelouch's naivety in S1, C.C saved lelouch from cornelia's hands and she probaly would tell him about the cameras. plus, lelouch did fool the viletta and information organization in the beginning of S2 by causing a panic while being watched by more than40 people and city and security cameras
plus you are not considering the fact that lelouch can also set a trap for L, this video was purely from L's perspective, you need to consider that lelouch also wouldn't just sit around and wait for a random Voice with a picture showing L on the screen to catch him. reconsider these please

Honestly, do you really think the best explanation is that Zero is a Britanian prince that has a problem with Clovis but not Euphemia? I feel like you made a couple leaps in logic here. Zero’s connection to the royal family isn’t as obvious as you made it out to be. Clovis was an enemy commander who ordered genocide so his death made sense. Euphemia was not only not involved with the military but also a hostage so Cornelia didn’t attack the Black Knights. Not killing her made sense. Also L figured out shinigami eyes after he knew about the supernatural nature of the case. L just randomly deducing Lelouch has geass when till this point in the series he is the only one to use it so far makes no sense. I also think Jeremiah and Villeta are mischaracterized.

L would be working alone by himself essentially, considering the fact that Red John has control over the top government figures in America. L would have to work from scratch to try and catch Red John.
Not to mention Red John's motivations are much harder to grasp compared to Light's. L was suspicious of Light because Light fit the criteria of L's psychoanalysis of Kira. Red John on the other hand was so good at acting and deception, even Patrick Jane couldn't see through him back in season 1. And Jane has much better perception, observation, EQ, SQ, psychoanalysis, and cold reading feats than L.

His profiling, intuition and reading skills could very easily see through someone like Bertram who was a Blake Associate and differentiate them from someone trustworthy like Cho, Lisbon and the rest of the CBI.

The only thing he has over L here is Social Skills and that’s literally it.
L has far more experience and was talented from such a young age he made Watari a billionaire with stock investment advice and made him start his own institution of geniuses with the best teaching all over the world to become the next L which led to people like Near, Mello & More.
Red John barely had any instances where he would have to act to avoid suspicion as he was never ever under specific surveillance, all he had to do was simply be a sheriff, unlike Light who was under constant watch by L and has much better method acting as I said before (uses far more variety of emotion than RJ). If Janes intuition and perception was as good as you claim he would’ve instantly known the Sheriff was RJ as soon as they met face to face especially when there’s a much lower suspect pool as it’s confirmed he operates in California.
You’re massively overestimating Red John and his case all together, the Kira Case is FAR harder even with a superior detective with L. L solves the Red John Killer Case with no major problems.

This is such a cool scenario! I've thought about this exact premise for so long, it's so neat to see a video covering it!!! Well done.
Though, something I have noticed with this line of video, I feel like the point often gets detracted from. Most of the time, when discussing each characters feats, it feels like you're just summarizing plot points for 10 minutes, and rarely loop back to how it relates to the point of the video. I think more paraphrasing of story examples, and more discussion of how it scales to a characters capabilities, would serve these videos a lot better! It feels like these videos are 80% plot summaries and 20% matchup discussions. Paraphrasing I think will help a lot!

For those who doubt L's ability based on uncertain veriables presented by the author. Let's go along with the scanario that L is hired by Charles Zi Britannia to uncover Zero's identity.
Firstly, L would question all those who were controlled by Zero before Clovis was murdered. L would deduce from their testimony that Zero has some kind of mind control ability. From Villetta he would also deduce that Zero is a Britannian student.
Given what he knows and how he operates all L would have to do would monotor students across Japan who are Britannian and who also have poor attendance records or who are absent at a time when Zero made a public appearance. It wouldn't take long before Lelouch is one of the narrowed down suspects. He'd obviously use bugs and wire taps and find out who Lelouch was based on surveillance.

I know I already commented something but I want to see Minoru Tanaka vs Naomi Misora. I had Tanaka above back then but afterwards I have Naomi above him. Now I don't know anymore I've been re-reading LABB Murder Case and The sequel several times now. I want to see the comparison between the prequel and the sequel.
I'll give my two cents on this, but I ultimately think the set up L has in this is ultimately skewed in his favor. To have the level of resources he did in Death note is nothing any of lelouche's actual rivals had in the first place. Since the knowledge of Geass was kept secret. Not only that the sort of political position most of Lelouche's threats the only person who had that level of influence was the Emperor himself and that all of Lelouche's primary threats were entities he had at least some intimate knowledge on how their character functioned.
Which to also say his ultimate enemy/rival being the L to his Kira would be Schneizal who also never got directly involved until season 2. Considering Britannia was legit fighting on multiple fronts and a rando wanna be revolutionary theatrical terrorist cell wasn't given his attention since other parts of the world required his skills for Brittannia.
I mean Schneizal himself primarily acts through proxies and other people too but in a majority of season 1 he gives his advice and nothing more than that. I don't doubt L's ability to deduce Zero's true identity in fact if Schneizal were to have taken the reigns after clovis' death Lelouche would legit had lost far earlier.
Which is why I ultimately think this skewed in L's favor. Given an unprecedented level of resources in Code Geass' world plus doubling the fact as serving to go on the offensive far earlier than Schneizal ever has makes this a disingenous take. Especially since this is a Sunrise creation which is more military mecha based if you know gundam!

Lelouch is a completely different case than Light and he wouldn't have to be as careful as Light. Because no matter who came after hime he could Geass them to make them his servant. I'm gonna say, since Lelouch was actually a child of the emperor, at some point the conversation between him and said father about him being sent to Japan would be reported. It wouldn't be a huge leap from there.
I mean, Euphemia knew (and Suzaku had thought) Lelouch was Zero, and neither of them are super-geniuses like L.

L can’t even prove Light is Kira so theres no way in hell he can prove Lelouch even exists yet alone is Zero.

And yes, Suzaku is smart, but not a supergenius like L or Light, and yes, has intimate knowledge of Lelouch, but L can easily ask people, and gain information related to him, slowly putting the pieces together.
L would figure it out, that's coming from someone who loves Code Geass (among my favourite anime/pieces of fiction) and not being the biggest fan of Death Note (but I still watched it).
@@pluubooruu presumption to us where as its confirmed canonically that everyone views lelouch and Nunnally dead. It actually was listed lelouch and Nunnally as dead which is why he even changed both their names. It definitely is a factor for L to prove the dead is alive.
Euphy did not guess it was him before he let her know which happened back in ep 8 where he mentioned he knew her long ago. Yes both of them are smart, and arguably near L in deduction and definitely smarter than Light in some degree. L asking people and getting information related to him will not piece things together because the info they will give is not substantial to anything.
L wouldn’t figure it out, im not accusing u of bias so no need to explain ur beliefs to me. Just saying Lelouch has too much factors u would only know of if u spend years of ur life with him or even shared a significant conversation with as Zero.

She guessed by a slight indication "you haven't changed". She was also under the assumption that he was dead, but obviously despite that she figured it out without much trouble. And if she could when she blatantly stated she didn't have the knowledge or intellect that Lelouch or even Schneizel had, I don't see a reason why L wouldn't.
Lastly, yes, he could piece it together pretty easily. If he spoke to anyone at Ashford barring Milly, he would find out Lelouch Lamperouge has a sister named Nunally Lamperouge, who is about the same age as the siblings canonically, well, it kind of gives it away. An alias could divert someone like L but the same names/ages is too obvious.
What's more is if he was working with the Britannian government and got into contact with Viletta, it would've been a slam-dunk for sure.
I just don't see how he can figure out something like a Death Note and that Light is Kira (who is a relative nobody, unlike Lelouch) and not Lelouch's identity. Geass itself... another story
The only real problem that L would have trouble with is the geass Lelouch has, otherwise, L should be able to catch Zero without a doubt. It'll be difficult and take some time, but the clues are there for L to lead him back to Lelouch. Similar to how L kept an eye on the police and their known associates, L could do the same for Suzaku who is a somewhat controversial person in the universe, being both saved by Zero but also fighting against him. L would probably want to keep an eye on Suzaku just in the off chance Zero might be connected to Suzaku and by doing so, L would eventually stumble across Lelouch who shares his same missing from school schedule as Suzaku because of the terrorist attacks. This would lead L to suspect Lelouch and if L looks into Lelouch's room or has him followed, L will find the Zero costume which Lelouch has as well L would also find where Lelouch is going by following him and would stumble across the black knight base. With all this L could prove Lelouch is Zero, but the trouble is the geass Lelouch has being unknown and might interfere with the arrest. Without any definitive way of L knowing about Lelouch's geass, actually arresting him will be difficult. If L catches him quickly enough then the geass might not be able to be used or if L has knightmare frames come to arrest Lelouch that could work. If Lelouch manages to get away from being arrested using his geass the first time, it's possible now for L to know of Lelouch's geass ability or at least understand it to a degree, which will allow him to more safely arrest him the next time. Overall though, L should be able to catch him.

Without even geass as factor L has a even bigger difficulty than he with pre ep2 light fumble. There no clues that lead back to lelouch that indicate being Zero that L knows about, Firstly Suzaku wasnt fighting against Zero while Zero saved him, when Zero saved Suzaku is when he was first ever debuted as Zero, it’s also revealed that everyone suspected that logically Zero was Japanese as he fought for them and only ones who knew he wasnt japanese were core Black knights as revealed by Kirihara. Lelouch missing school schedule has no parallel to Suzakus, lelouch missed school before Suzaku ever came into school, lelouchs friends all confirm his missing school is via gambling so he has a firm alibi, he was even missing school during ep1 where the terrorist attack was already occuring. This wouldnt lead L to look into lelouchs room nor would he have access to it bc we already know he has no warrant. Cc would be there as well and not allow it either and let lelouch. L has no way of physically proving Lelouch is Zero or even coming up with the idea.

You should know an alibi doesn't stop L from pursuing someone until he finds absolute proof it's not them. First of all, Lelouch and Suzaku were missing the same classes and it was said to be because of the terrorist attacks or aligned with the terrorist attacks. L wouldn't know about the gambling or Lelouch's friends giving Lelouch an alibi unless L spoke to them and even if L was told about Lelouch gambling, L wouldn't stop there as Light was also given an alibi multiple times, but L only thought it was a cover up, so L would do the same thing and keep pursuing Lelouch anyways to see if the alibi is true or not. So even with the alibi, L would still pursue further and find out Lelouch is Zero. C.C. is also very clearly seen out and about outside of Lelouch's room, so there is time for them to search Lelouch's room and set up cameras. They technically don't even need to set up cameras, they just need to find the Zero costume which should be possible. L is shown not to use a warrant several times so that wouldn't stop him either. Even if C.C. was there that would just cause more problems for Lelouch because she was the cargo from the first episode. So there is plenty of evidence for l to find to prove Lelouch is Zero, overwhelmingly a lot of evidence actually.

You should know that an Alibi wouldn’t be towards L but towards the proof he would need to find Zero so yea it does stop L. Lelouch and Suzaku were missing the same classes is already debunked like I said Lelouch was missing classes way before Suzaku even entered school so its a non factor but secondly its never stated because it was of the terrorist attacks, only for suzaku maybe but no one knew Suzaku was fighting when missing school until ep 17 of s1. Another thing you missed is Lelouch doesn’t keep the Zero costume on him after ep 6 but like I said, it wouldn’t even get that far with L. L has used warrants and always had, especially with Lights case because he had task forces full support. Especially when the authorities and laws in CG are far more significant than in DN, meaning L cant escape the law to do his work. CC being there causes no problems at all because not only can she go invisible like she did in ep 21 of s1 but L has no idea she was a cargo in ep1 because no one would tell L anything of that. So there is no evidence for L to find to prove lelouch is zero. L simply isn’t smart enough for this case because there too many factors he doesn’t know about. U still haven’t gotten passed the starter line of connecting Lelouch to Suzaku or Suzaku to Zero.
