The major weakness for light is his ego and how he seems to lose control whenever someone mentions kira being evil. Now i do believe light would absolutely control himself in public flawlessly but the issue with someone like Johan is that even tiny sign of it affecting light would be enough for him to keep on hammering on this point until light cracks. I don't think that Johan is many times more intelligent than light, i think they're both pretty equal in intelligence, manipulation etc but light and his big ass ego will eventually give Johan an edge.

Lights ego resulted in him indulging L in the first place, he said in episode 3 or 4 that he want purposefully letting L get closer and find out that kira was related to police officers because he wanted to get close to L as possible in order to eliminate him, the best course for light would have been to ignore L and simply use his intelligence to make sure that L stays as far away as possible but he had to satisfy his ego and God complex. Johan on the other hand is a genetically perfect specimen, a part of a scientific experiment. He is truly one of the most terrifying characters in television, but when it comes to battle of minds, light cannot be as easily manipulated as you think, light would find ways to counter Johan but eventually Johan will find a weakness and exploit it. It will not be easy tho L on the other hand would truly be a perfect competition for Johan. L was defeated by light but L somehow would be a better challenge who can take on Johan and might even defeat him.

I think that realistically Johan would just use different causes of death, not just heart attacks, and they would never even get to know there is a Kira since he would kill very specific people in the criminal underworld. Old couple deaths wouldn't be big enough for L to get into since they don't meet his conditions. Johan would probably repeat the events of Monster, just with bigger ease without even getting L and Light involved. L could try to track him after he runs from the hospital, but he never killed after that so that's unlikely too
I believe Johan could go with regular Kira killings, but only if his goals aligned with contacting with Light/L. Basically he would do the same as in Monster - reveal clues because he wants to - in order to achieve his goals like he was allowing Tenma to tail him all the time

Thing to note is that if johan used death note to kill someone it literally couldn't be linked to death note. Especially if we're talking about a Johan who obtains the Death Note AFTER the events where Light loses his memory, meaning the whole world knows that L is pursuing Kira. Johan would be much more cautious in this situation, so I really doubt he would lose to L and Light while being in possession of the notebook. And yes, L is known worldwide (not as much as Kira, not even close actually), to the point that when he appears on the live broadcast in Kanto, some people recognize him. If L is known and has influence throughout the Interpol, I doubt Johan is unaware of his existence and wouldn't take measures against him.
I think the most interesting outcome for this kind of scenario would be Johan meeting "good" Light and breaking him psychologically. It would also be interesting to see the interactions and relationship between Johan and Rem. I'd imagine that she'd like him more than Light at the very least and maybe even be empathetic to his implied philosophy. As for how Johan would use the Death Note or how the task force would figure out that he's the new "Kira". I'd think it'd be best if Johan never used the note himself but selected and manipulated his own new Kiras. Maybe giving single pages to people he's gained control over or as a way to sow chaos in certain locations. He'd be like a Shinigami in human form in this scenario. Maybe frames Tenma as this generous Kira as a way to involve Lunge or get the ball rolling.
Amazing video Avent, Honestly as smart as Light is, Johan comfortably beats him. Lights emotions are his biggest flaw on top of him not being able to find Johans real name, Johan wouldn’t allow Misa & Mikami to get close enough with Shinigami eyes as they’d struggle to even find him. Johans Knowledge, EQ, Manipulation & overall intelligence is superior to Lights (by a solid gap imo). Johan wins Mid to High Diff. For this scenario 19:39 I think, given L's connections, he'd put Johan in a secret prison where corrupt cops or Johan follower's couldn't free him. Now the question is if Johan would be willing to divulge to L what he knew about Bonaparta? More importantly would Light let Johan live long enough for him to divulge such information?
@NXP38 Light chasing Johan makes more narrative sense for both shows, Light lost his memories and was good for a while and worked with L & did want to be an officer at one point, also even after he regained his memories he was posing as “L” so it makes more sense.
Great video just like the L and Johan one both are detailed and very well done, here are my thoughts. Light wanted to let himself be known to the world as Kira which is why he killed a vast majority using only heart attacks and because of that pattern people started realizing that something is up and L was called in. In this scenario I doubt johan would just use heart attacks as it can create a pattern which in term raises suspicion. In the scenario where tenma is already aware of Johan I also don't see why johan wont be able to suspect L's involvement due to the fact that he is world renown with police agencies regularly calling on him. With his influence he can set up many lackeys to catch onto the task force members and with his reach in the police can find out L is on the case. Anyway In my opinion the most realistic scenario would be Johan clearing considering hes a hard man to find or even get close to so Misa wont ever get a chance to be close to him leaving the death note unused on him (especially if he catches onto L investigating him) and Light is too prideful to take the deal.

Vary interesting and well made video. Though its a bit funny how its less “Could Light catch Johan” and more like “Could L, Light, The Task Force, Watari, and the entire cast of monster catch Johan if he had the death note”. I also think that Johan might take IQ over Light as well due to being a similar child genius as L who was in my opinion higher in IQ than Light. Though its certainly vary close and you could make arguments either way.
I'm not sure, but if I remember correct, than Johan has 190 IQ and Light has 210. Besides L has 240, but I guess on this Level of IQ the differences don't really matter, because everyone of them have the opportunity too well think over their net steps. The greatest riskant for Johan is, that Light could get some of Johans old pictures and than after touching a Death Note, use the Shinigami eyes.

But there are a few guasstimates we can make based on what they did and how this compares to IRL people who have performed similar feats. I will write about there feats here and how they compare to one another. Firstly Light. His best IQ feat to my knowledge and the most numerically quantifiable is him getting first on a national test (and being overall the highest ranked student of his year). This based on the japonese school population would make Light number 1 among roughly a million people. Irl people who perform like this usually have iqs of around 171-172. I think Light is at least slightly higher due to not worrying at all about the test and seemingly having 0 trouble but this is still a nice iq floor to put him on (so give or taka a standard deviation of 15 points potentially). He is however capped by L who not only performed similarly on the same test (while having his reasoning nerfed by 40% due to not being able to sit in the way he likes to) but Ohba and Mello have both said that L was smarter than Light. So than lets talk about L. At the age of 8 he was considered the greatest detective in the world and has successfully stopped WW3. He has shown advanced understanding of echonomics, reasoning, human behavior, psychology, philosophy and multiple scientific fields at these ages also. Irl child geniuses are estimated with those ridiculous 200+ iqs by doing high level adulting at early ages. L was considered the batter than any adult in his field with possessing great competence at a variety of other fields. Kids like this usually have iqs of 230-250 from what i was able to research. This also works well with L and Lights shared test feat where L was able to get a score comparable to 171-172 iq people while nerfed 40% with 171-172 increased by 40% being 239-240. So this feat also supports L being this high. Now lets see who Johan compares to batter Light or L. Johan was a prodigy at pretty much everything he ever tried from seemingly day 1. He was able to manipulate everyone at kinderheim 511 to kill themselves and each other at the age of 10. At 11 he was able to commit multiple murders while at a highly survayed place like a hospital so well that Heinrich Lunge someone who himself is likely a genius and one of the greatest detectives in the world wasn’t even able to begin to understand what actually happened. At 15 he was able to operate the largest underground money loundering business in europe and likely all of history, seemlessly without anyone finding out. Even before all of this he was able to get him and his sister from Czechia to germany and systematically kill anyone who wanted to alert the authorities of the two orphans because Johan even as a child was able to deduce/observe that Bonaparta’s level of institutional power was enough for even information this small to be picked up on his radar. Which Johan was completely correct on as Bonaparta did find them even though he no longer wanted to harm anyone. Johan also maintained perfct grades at the school he went to for the Schuewald plan even though Johan probably needed to put more effort into his plans than Light did due to Johan not having the death note which simplified/facilitated a lot of what Light was doing so Johan maintaining perfect grades is if anything more impressive than when Light did it. Based on this information i think Johan would compare batter to L than to Light based on his feats alone as both L and Johan were child geniuses who could accomplish feats beyound any adult in their fields (Detective and Outlaw respectively) with just their brain power alone. As well as showing incredible awareness of the surounding world at pretty much the same ages. While Light is undoubtibly a genius and pretty high up even among this level of intellect, L and Johan are geniuses among geniuses as their feats show as well as the narratives of their series. Of course if we use more specific comparisons between individual IQ categories (like Working Memory Index, Verbal/Spatial Comprehension Index, Processing Speed Index, Etc) this could be different but i think that does Johan a disservice. As he doesn’t even appear in half of Monsters total episodes himself so Light just had more screen time to show feats in individual categories than Johan. But i think even than it might be comparable. This method is also the one most closely adheared to by the intelligence scaling community and normally it works well just not with a character like Johan in my opinion. So according to my estimations based on the information and reasonong outlined above: Light’s IQ is 172-187 L’s IQ is 235-240 And Johans IQ is 210-230 BTW Sorry if it was too long. I just wanted to explain everything as this kind of “exact IQ estimatin” isn’t vary common when debating intelligence.
True, the mother had an idea of a true name, but it seems to only be remembered at the *very end.* So, I dont know if the Shinigami eyes would show anything by the time Misa finds Johan, it would have to have occured after the Ruhenhiem incident.
Shinigami shows name even if the person didn't know his name. There's no way that if Misa sees Johan's face and head she didn't see nothing. She sees somewhat name. It is a death note rule
Johan would win. I mean technically Light is currently dead. Johan is still alive. The difference too is when Light was caught he was also afraid to die for good. Johan don’t even fear death. I just thought it was crazy that the drunk guy who shot Johan described he saw a monster with seven heads and many horns. Then the radio goes out. It played out more realistic and supernatural at the same time that made it more believable and scary than Deathnote.

There's one factor that i think should have been put into consideration was the ability to see and communicate with shinigami. If we are giving Johan the death note it would also make sense for him to have a shinigami companion. This changes things drastically depending on the personality of shinigami we give him, if we give him someone like Ryuk who is nothing more than a spectator then nothing happens but give him someone like Rem and things change drastically since he is the only Shinigami that is willing to kill a human especially if they actually care about him or is able to be influenced by him (which i find to be more likely given his character) It is very possible for Rohan to trick this shinigami into killing any two (i'm going to make that the max since that's how many people rem killed before dying) people while or before he's in the task forces custody in order to clear his name in the court of law (not like he needs to due to the police corruption but it's just food for thought). Another thing he could do is actually pass the death note around to his followers and make the killings even harder to track as now there are multiple people killing under the orders of Rohan or just at random to throw off any possibility of the killings leading back to him, this would effectively make it impossible for L or light to even guess who is committing the killings as the pattern is far too random to realistically understand. Not to mention, Tenma may not even have knowledge of this himself depending on how slowly or quickly the death note travels between followers. It's not like Johan has to even tell them what the death note does either, he could probably find a way to cover the death notes front cover and disguise it as something else entirely so people would be even more willing to write in it.

I think you downplayed Lights Manipulation ability, as per Light's manipulation is very subtle and done indirectly, as he has indirectly manipulated L on several times. Although he has some of the better direct manipulation feats too. Excellent edit i enjoyed it a lot.

What if johan figures out that Light is chasing him? after gaining the death note and since kira would still be world famous Johan could easily deduce that the notebook is what kira used and it would only reach him if Kira were captured and if he can piece it together following the library incident that one of those going after him is light perhaps he would try to reach light and might even grant him a page or something if the shinigami informs him about the memory erasel, then either the 2 would work together or Light blinded by ego would be manipulated into Johans plan, just a possibility

I mean, to be fair there is an argument to be made that there were those in the police that found out that Johan did actually exist. And in the end even Lunge who was dead set on Johan being Tenmas alternative personality, found out that Johan did indeed exist and that Tenma was innocent. So I think it would actually be possible to find Johan since he wouldn't change his pattern of killing, just the way he does it. Since his majority target was middle aged couples who were treating him as a foster child, he would still be connected to them by that, and those are the major strings that allowed Tenma and Anna to keep actually finding Johan.

It's really not a debate at alll , I'll just say this one thing. ,. "It's sometimes easier to predict the actions of a somewhat smart man compared to an absolute idiot"
Even if Light had the death note I feel like he would lose. The reason being is his ego which nearly got light caught early in the series and helped L narrow down where kira was drastically.
Problem with this scenario is that Johan had unrealistic/supernatural manipulative abilities (which is why most of his feats were done off-screen) and endless loyal expendable and somehow also totally dependable henchmen and inhuman perception that straight up didnt make any sense. It personally took me out of the show a lot. I think Light’s story makes a lot more sense in the traditional way (if we just ignore the supernatural aspect of the death note). He made mistakes, he acted emotionally but also extraordinarily intelligently and witty. Meanwhile, Johan was just like an omnipotent terminator batman character. So yes, I guess if we fictitiously pitted them against one another, Johan might triumph. But I think Light is a far more interesting and compelling character because he’s actually flawed. Writing Johan as flawed yet extremely capable and more realistically would make him a better/scarier character. I feel like I never really was on the edge of my seat regarding Johan’s capture because he very evidently never made mistakes and had endless resources, which is kind of cartoony for a show that’s supposed to be grounded in reality with no supernatural elements. Meanwhile since episode 2 of Death Note, I was engulfed in tension, curiosity and anxiety like never before in any other show.

The major weakness for light is his ego and how he seems to lose control whenever someone mentions kira being evil.
Now i do believe light would absolutely control himself in public flawlessly but the issue with someone like Johan is that even tiny sign of it affecting light would be enough for him to keep on hammering on this point until light cracks.
I don't think that Johan is many times more intelligent than light, i think they're both pretty equal in intelligence, manipulation etc but light and his big ass ego will eventually give Johan an edge.

Lights ego resulted in him indulging L in the first place, he said in episode 3 or 4 that he want purposefully letting L get closer and find out that kira was related to police officers because he wanted to get close to L as possible in order to eliminate him, the best course for light would have been to ignore L and simply use his intelligence to make sure that L stays as far away as possible but he had to satisfy his ego and God complex.
Johan on the other hand is a genetically perfect specimen, a part of a scientific experiment. He is truly one of the most terrifying characters in television, but when it comes to battle of minds, light cannot be as easily manipulated as you think, light would find ways to counter Johan but eventually Johan will find a weakness and exploit it. It will not be easy tho
L on the other hand would truly be a perfect competition for Johan. L was defeated by light but L somehow would be a better challenge who can take on Johan and might even defeat him.

I think that realistically Johan would just use different causes of death, not just heart attacks, and they would never even get to know there is a Kira since he would kill very specific people in the criminal underworld. Old couple deaths wouldn't be big enough for L to get into since they don't meet his conditions. Johan would probably repeat the events of Monster, just with bigger ease without even getting L and Light involved. L could try to track him after he runs from the hospital, but he never killed after that so that's unlikely too

Great video! But I have something to add. In a world where there's "The Greatest Detective in the World", L, I highly doubt Johan wouldn't take him into account in his calculations. Especially if we're talking about a Johan who obtains the Death Note AFTER the events where Light loses his memory, meaning the whole world knows that L is pursuing Kira. Johan would be much more cautious in this situation, so I really doubt he would lose to L and Light while being in possession of the notebook.

And yes, L is known worldwide (not as much as Kira, not even close actually), to the point that when he appears on the live broadcast in Kanto, some people recognize him. If L is known and has influence throughout the Interpol, I doubt Johan is unaware of his existence and wouldn't take measures against him.

I think the most interesting outcome for this kind of scenario would be Johan meeting "good" Light and breaking him psychologically. It would also be interesting to see the interactions and relationship between Johan and Rem. I'd imagine that she'd like him more than Light at the very least and maybe even be empathetic to his implied philosophy.
As for how Johan would use the Death Note or how the task force would figure out that he's the new "Kira". I'd think it'd be best if Johan never used the note himself but selected and manipulated his own new Kiras. Maybe giving single pages to people he's gained control over or as a way to sow chaos in certain locations. He'd be like a Shinigami in human form in this scenario.
Maybe frames Tenma as this generous Kira as a way to involve Lunge or get the ball rolling.

Great video just like the L and Johan one both are detailed and very well done, here are my thoughts. Light wanted to let himself be known to the world as Kira which is why he killed a vast majority using only heart attacks and because of that pattern people started realizing that something is up and L was called in. In this scenario I doubt johan would just use heart attacks as it can create a pattern which in term raises suspicion. In the scenario where tenma is already aware of Johan I also don't see why johan wont be able to suspect L's involvement due to the fact that he is world renown with police agencies regularly calling on him. With his influence he can set up many lackeys to catch onto the task force members and with his reach in the police can find out L is on the case. Anyway In my opinion the most realistic scenario would be Johan clearing considering hes a hard man to find or even get close to so Misa wont ever get a chance to be close to him leaving the death note unused on him (especially if he catches onto L investigating him) and Light is too prideful to take the deal.

Vary interesting and well made video. Though its a bit funny how its less “Could Light catch Johan” and more like “Could L, Light, The Task Force, Watari, and the entire cast of monster catch Johan if he had the death note”.
I also think that Johan might take IQ over Light as well due to being a similar child genius as L who was in my opinion higher in IQ than Light. Though its certainly vary close and you could make arguments either way.
I'm not sure, but if I remember correct, than Johan has 190 IQ and Light has 210. Besides L has 240, but I guess on this Level of IQ the differences don't really matter, because everyone of them have the opportunity too well think over their net steps. The greatest riskant for Johan is, that Light could get some of Johans old pictures and than after touching a Death Note, use the Shinigami eyes.
@@jasonleganke6016 Johan, Light and L have never actually had there IQs revealed. But there are a few guasstimates we can make based on what they did and how this compares to IRL people who have performed similar feats. I will write about there feats here and how they compare to one another.
Firstly Light. His best IQ feat to my knowledge and the most numerically quantifiable is him getting first on a national test (and being overall the highest ranked student of his year). This based on the japonese school population would make Light number 1 among roughly a million people. Irl people who perform like this usually have iqs of around 171-172. I think Light is at least slightly higher due to not worrying at all about the test and seemingly having 0 trouble but this is still a nice iq floor to put him on (so give or taka a standard deviation of 15 points potentially). He is however capped by L who not only performed similarly on the same test (while having his reasoning nerfed by 40% due to not being able to sit in the way he likes to) but Ohba and Mello have both said that L was smarter than Light.
So than lets talk about L. At the age of 8 he was considered the greatest detective in the world and has successfully stopped WW3. He has shown advanced understanding of echonomics, reasoning, human behavior, psychology, philosophy and multiple scientific fields at these ages also. Irl child geniuses are estimated with those ridiculous 200+ iqs by doing high level adulting at early ages. L was considered the batter than any adult in his field with possessing great competence at a variety of other fields. Kids like this usually have iqs of 230-250 from what i was able to research. This also works well with L and Lights shared test feat where L was able to get a score comparable to 171-172 iq people while nerfed 40% with 171-172 increased by 40% being 239-240. So this feat also supports L being this high.
Now lets see who Johan compares to batter Light or L. Johan was a prodigy at pretty much everything he ever tried from seemingly day 1. He was able to manipulate everyone at kinderheim 511 to kill themselves and each other at the age of 10. At 11 he was able to commit multiple murders while at a highly survayed place like a hospital so well that Heinrich Lunge someone who himself is likely a genius and one of the greatest detectives in the world wasn’t even able to begin to understand what actually happened. At 15 he was able to operate the largest underground money loundering business in europe and likely all of history, seemlessly without anyone finding out. Even before all of this he was able to get him and his sister from Czechia to germany and systematically kill anyone who wanted to alert the authorities of the two orphans because Johan even as a child was able to deduce/observe that Bonaparta’s level of institutional power was enough for even information this small to be picked up on his radar. Which Johan was completely correct on as Bonaparta did find them even though he no longer wanted to harm anyone. Johan also maintained perfct grades at the school he went to for the Schuewald plan even though Johan probably needed to put more effort into his plans than Light did due to Johan not having the death note which simplified/facilitated a lot of what Light was doing so Johan maintaining perfect grades is if anything more impressive than when Light did it.
Based on this information i think Johan would compare batter to L than to Light based on his feats alone as both L and Johan were child geniuses who could accomplish feats beyound any adult in their fields (Detective and Outlaw respectively) with just their brain power alone. As well as showing incredible awareness of the surounding world at pretty much the same ages. While Light is undoubtibly a genius and pretty high up even among this level of intellect, L and Johan are geniuses among geniuses as their feats show as well as the narratives of their series.
Of course if we use more specific comparisons between individual IQ categories (like Working Memory Index, Verbal/Spatial Comprehension Index, Processing Speed Index, Etc) this could be different but i think that does Johan a disservice. As he doesn’t even appear in half of Monsters total episodes himself so Light just had more screen time to show feats in individual categories than Johan. But i think even than it might be comparable. This method is also the one most closely adheared to by the intelligence scaling community and normally it works well just not with a character like Johan in my opinion.
So according to my estimations based on the information and reasonong outlined above:
Light’s IQ is 172-187
L’s IQ is 235-240
And Johans IQ is 210-230
BTW Sorry if it was too long. I just wanted to explain everything as this kind of “exact IQ estimatin” isn’t vary common when debating intelligence.

There's one factor that i think should have been put into consideration was the ability to see and communicate with shinigami. If we are giving Johan the death note it would also make sense for him to have a shinigami companion. This changes things drastically depending on the personality of shinigami we give him, if we give him someone like Ryuk who is nothing more than a spectator then nothing happens but give him someone like Rem and things change drastically since he is the only Shinigami that is willing to kill a human especially if they actually care about him or is able to be influenced by him (which i find to be more likely given his character)
It is very possible for Rohan to trick this shinigami into killing any two (i'm going to make that the max since that's how many people rem killed before dying) people while or before he's in the task forces custody in order to clear his name in the court of law (not like he needs to due to the police corruption but it's just food for thought). Another thing he could do is actually pass the death note around to his followers and make the killings even harder to track as now there are multiple people killing under the orders of Rohan or just at random to throw off any possibility of the killings leading back to him, this would effectively make it impossible for L or light to even guess who is committing the killings as the pattern is far too random to realistically understand. Not to mention, Tenma may not even have knowledge of this himself depending on how slowly or quickly the death note travels between followers.
It's not like Johan has to even tell them what the death note does either, he could probably find a way to cover the death notes front cover and disguise it as something else entirely so people would be even more willing to write in it.

I think you downplayed Lights Manipulation ability, as per Light's manipulation is very subtle and done indirectly, as he has indirectly manipulated L on several times. Although he has some of the better direct manipulation feats too.

What if johan figures out that Light is chasing him? after gaining the death note and since kira would still be world famous Johan could easily deduce that the notebook is what kira used and it would only reach him if Kira were captured and if he can piece it together following the library incident that one of those going after him is light perhaps he would try to reach light and might even grant him a page or something if the shinigami informs him about the memory erasel, then either the 2 would work together or Light blinded by ego would be manipulated into Johans plan, just a possibility

I mean, to be fair there is an argument to be made that there were those in the police that found out that Johan did actually exist. And in the end even Lunge who was dead set on Johan being Tenmas alternative personality, found out that Johan did indeed exist and that Tenma was innocent. So I think it would actually be possible to find Johan since he wouldn't change his pattern of killing, just the way he does it. Since his majority target was middle aged couples who were treating him as a foster child, he would still be connected to them by that, and those are the major strings that allowed Tenma and Anna to keep actually finding Johan.

Problem with this scenario is that Johan had unrealistic/supernatural manipulative abilities (which is why most of his feats were done off-screen) and endless loyal expendable and somehow also totally dependable henchmen and inhuman perception that straight up didnt make any sense. It personally took me out of the show a lot. I think Light’s story makes a lot more sense in the traditional way (if we just ignore the supernatural aspect of the death note). He made mistakes, he acted emotionally but also extraordinarily intelligently and witty. Meanwhile, Johan was just like an omnipotent terminator batman character. So yes, I guess if we fictitiously pitted them against one another, Johan might triumph. But I think Light is a far more interesting and compelling character because he’s actually flawed.
Writing Johan as flawed yet extremely capable and more realistically would make him a better/scarier character. I feel like I never really was on the edge of my seat regarding Johan’s capture because he very evidently never made mistakes and had endless resources, which is kind of cartoony for a show that’s supposed to be grounded in reality with no supernatural elements. Meanwhile since episode 2 of Death Note, I was engulfed in tension, curiosity and anxiety like never before in any other show.
Would Johan not have eyes on Tenma? If he does then he would instantly know someone is onto him.
