Rare combination of class ,innovative composing , deep meaningful lyrics and overwhelming quality ,this is the legacy true old queensryche left to the world ,lost but not forgotten
Definitely not a popular opinion, but for me Promised Land is Queensryche's second best album, beaten only by the sheer perfection that is Mindcrime. It may not be very "metal", but it's melodic, dark, moody and experimental. I f-in love it!
I'd probably put Empire first, which dabbled in many genres, while remaining cohesive as an album and commercially accessible. I think I'd go with Mindcrime second, and Promised Land or Rage For Order third.
This tour, with Type O Negative opening was my first concert. They were playing arenas and had the most incredible stage show. What an amazing first concert all the way around. Since I can't have Type O anymore, it would be nice if Geoff and Co could reconcile at some point. The second time I saw them it was at a way smaller venue, but still fantastic. I miss it.
Same for me! Thought it was an odd pairing for a tour, but I loved both bands back then and still do today. Queensryche's stage show for that tour was elaborate and amazing. Just to think they were putting on that show back then almost nightly!
Same. Saw them in Houston during that tour. I still have the tickets. Peter ripped his shirt off wiped his face and threw it into the crowd.. girls went nuts and my late friend Megan Barry came out with it. RIP Megan..you were a badass bitch.😂
In 1994 people were listening to more aggressive type metal like Cannibal Corpse, Down and Corrosion Of Conformity which are all great but by this time in Queensrych career they really nailed it with Promised Land. It's moody, dark and melodic and is really the soundtrack for 1994. I'm glad they survived the Grunge era. I first heard this song on my friends stereo at a party back in 1995 it was just background noise to most people but I was listening intently and the next day I went to my local mall and bought it at the record store there. I'm my opinion it's really the final magic that Queensrych made.
This is my favorite Queensryche song. Its one of the best songs ever in my opinion. Before this I used to play Operation: Mindcrime a lot. Suite Sister Mary is my favorite off that album. The first concert I ever went to was the Queensryche tour in 1991. The show was awesome and the band remains one of my favorites.
In 1994 it was either death metal or alternative rock that friends were listening to. Played this a lot, mostly alone. The intro is brilliant, super big sound, fat guitars, jangly melodies ... First time I've ever seen this video. Thanks for nothing, MTV.
It was on Headbanger's Ball. But HB was gone by 1995. Enter SuperRock. The 3rd alternative music show on MTV (after 120 Minutes and Alternative Nation).
One of the greatest short rock songs of all times. Great band and years ahead of their time in terms of lyrical content. Wonder if they read Fritz Springmeier.
I believe I remember this from either Headbangers' Ball or Rock Video Monthly Metal. Hugh Syme is an amazing artist, and Geoff Tate is a very versatile singer.
Hi it’s Stacie! I have been a fan for a long time and this is one of my favorite songs! The guys outdid themselves with this one! Everything spinning around and it’s like your mind gets blown by all the stuff that’s going on around you! Great job guys!
@@midnightmover2329 I own EVERY album since the Warning... just not any of the "New" Queensryche albums (yet). Still a BIG FAN of Michael Wilton and Eddie Jackson, so I plan on listening...
He obviously didn't know this was to be his last performance with the band. Might as well been his first. Superb. Amazing voice. How the poorer are they now. Shame. What a great band
It sucks ass that the first progressive metal band that wrote the most thought provoking, mind-expanding music has parted ways. Geoff Tates' vocals crushed everyone and still do. And Chris DeGarmos' guitar work and songwriting stand alone. Metal has a vitality of its own and has taken music to the extreme ; it cannot get any harder, faster, technical, emotional nor progressive. That is why it is the sickest form of music humans can create.
Geoff has not completely lost his voice.....he still has a great singing presence. He is somewhat older and it has been altered....but not lost. People age....do you think you are getting out unchanged? He will always be one of the most miraculous voices on the scene and overlooked. If you ask me.
Frintin. B.S Robert Plant can't scream like he use to hater, he sings good on some Zeppelin songs, but the ones like the imigrant song and black dog not so much.
@NASCAR90 Loved this album. Wish music was different right now. Maybe people will soon come to their senses again and buy music that has some substance and thought.
What can they say? That new type of "spin" washing machine technology was cutting edge back in '94. Great album, nice counterpoint to Rage for Order, my all-time favorite.
This album marked the end of Chris DeGarmo in the band, and thus, the end of Queensryche. After he left, it became very obvious who was the main song writer.
I remember all of the hype behind this album. Back before MTV turned to crap, they ran commercials about this album and aired a live release event. They gathered a bunch of fans together and let them hear the music first and watch the video in tandem with the T.V. audience. Needless to say, it bombed pretty bad. People were expecting another Mindcrime or Empire and you could see the disappointment in their faces. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan. But it was a turning point for the band.
@@ps-yk8su yeah, namely grunge. But they doubled-down on that sound all of the way through to: Hear in the Now Frontier, Q2K and Tribe (basically running Chris DeGarmo off). It’s just sad, but at least the “sans-Tate” version of the new band is a return to form.
the first time I saw this I thought WTF is this! I did not like the vid nor the song!! but it grew on me and now I love it!, after empire this was so diffrent it was the last album I bought after that they lost me sorry
@dylanskriloff Yeah, what was it? Hear in the Now Frontier? I didn't get much into that one either, and unfortunately after that, I forgot about Queensryche. Maybe I'll pick up American Soldier, though. Promised Land and Empire both terrific.
ONE OF THEIR 5 BEST...THIS SHIT ROCKS AND THEY OPENED WITH IT ON PROMISED LAND AT THE PALACE OF AUBURN HILLS IN '94....FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE....AND TO END A PROGRESSIVE METAL CONCERT WITH A SONG FEATURING ONLY A PIANO AND THE LEAD SINGER...FUCK.....TATE AT ABOUT 83% PROMINENCE AT THIS STATE.............
So when exactly did Geoff lose his voice and start just talking through QR Songs? It wasn't in 1994 ... going to figure out exactly when this happened. For sure he still had his voice for I am I ...
One of their many musical masterpieces. I really miss this old lineup :( They were just simply invincible and unmatched to this very day
This is so true
I concur 100%.
Agreed
SCREAMING IN DIGITAL!
One of the best bands to never get credit for their greatness

Yes! Just today I 've listened to Mindcrime and this amazeballs album to chill out because it's one of the most fervent band in the World!
I agree that Promised Land is their second best album, but Rage For Order would be first for me. Mindcrime is overrated in my opinion.
I'd probably put Empire first, which dabbled in many genres, while remaining cohesive as an album and commercially accessible. I think I'd go with Mindcrime second, and Promised Land or Rage For Order third.
It may not be a popular one, but it is the correct one in my estimation. 😂
The LAST album of the GREAT QUEENSRYCHE 😢💀
NeueRegel Agreed, my interest in the band ended after this album, but to this day, I still wear out Operation Mindcrime and Empire.
the more I listen to this album, the more I think of Rage for Order. Again like '86, they experimented, revisited and succeeded.. great album!
This entire album is so freakin good. Production is about as good as it gets
Great song, great message. Saw them back in the 90's. An awesome show. Their drummer had the most impressive drum kit, and played every bit of it.
This song is a masterpiece
Great song & performing, with a powerful message❣️💪👏👏👏
THE Mighty Mighty Queensrÿche!
🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
Now THIS is Queensryche!
I saw them in the summer of 1995-PL Tour. I won't touch anything after Promised Land.

This song perfectly predicted the future.
I really wish these guys were still writing music together.
Queensryche is very underrated.
This song is so weird & eclectic. I love it!
The riff is so badass!!
Because Chris degarmo is a awesome guitarist

Die hard Queensryche fan, Love all their music, Miss degarmo and Geoff. (Always wished geoff kept his hair too)
indeed idk why he shaved his hair
@@masterjake731 Tate and Anselmo still have most of their hairs but they shaved their heads for no reasons. 😂

Arjan Hut MTV showed this video. I remember catching it a few times. I was barely in my teens.
It was on Headbanger's Ball. But HB was gone by 1995. Enter SuperRock. The 3rd alternative music show on MTV (after 120 Minutes and Alternative Nation).
This song still gets me every single time.
Damn! They most have been dizzy for weeks after making that video back then! Long live the original Queensryche line-up! 2021 still love them.
Why have I never seen this video. This is their last great album imho. Geniuses at work
Great cd!!! I need to dig it out again!!!
This is the way the Game is played. Only through metaphor can you reach mass consciousness
The production on this is freakin awesome
this one got a lot of airtime on MTV back in the day. it's why this song always reminds me of John Sencio
One of the greatest short rock songs of all times. Great band and years ahead of their time in terms of lyrical content. Wonder if they read Fritz Springmeier.
As for the title, that line was once used by Dr. Seuss
I'm a little dizzy after watching the video, yet aurally satisfied!
Ditto!! :P
Why is Geoff spinning around like a ball
AWESOME!! JUST AWESOME!!!!!!
Such an underrated song.
I believe I remember this from either Headbangers' Ball or Rock Video Monthly Metal. Hugh Syme is an amazing artist, and Geoff Tate is a very versatile singer.
A epic masterpiece. Once Chris left, that was the end of Queensrÿche for me.
No names, no titles, no fictions...
Just I
Great lesson. Very relevant to the spirit of the time with all the false egos running a muck.
One could only hope to sing like Tate. His voice is just awesome.
LEGENDS
from IRAN like this band \m/
My personal favourite album by the band.
I love it.

It's good, but now I'm dizzy af
I almost forgot this song, follow up to Empire and they actually got back to what they were before, very underrated
Headbangers' Ball with Riki Rachtman!
I love this 😢
The last good album with Geoff, imo. RIP original lineup. :(
It's so terribly sad to have to agree with you. Such a tremendous band, they basically lost it after Chris left.
Once Degarmo left it’s was all downhill. Still shocked

I agree 100%
Reminds me of Zeppelin Kashmir and the song is as good.
One of the 12 Greatest Songs Ever Written About False Self.

He still brings it!
Daniella Goldiano very creative man. But he has not evolved by hanging on that old voice. Robert Plant does way better as a man twice his age.
I Hurricane do you know him in person ?
Frintin. B.S Robert Plant can't scream like he use to hater, he sings good on some Zeppelin songs, but the ones like the imigrant song and black dog not so much.
I totally Agree...
Great song!
You can leave now... but I think you'll stay.
So underrated
I am I and Damaged just have to listened in order......
Fantastic .Why has no one done a stage musical using this. Beggar's. Belief. Greatest band 👍
You can leave now...
but I think you'll stay. I am I ! !
Easily amongst my top 10 songs of all time

smashing song AND video
One of most powerful, greatest and underrated voices in the metal scene. in a vocalists face off I saw recently Tate wasn't in, I was like "WTF!"

And here I thought that the video for "Time Stand Still" was trippy.
“I Am”’from the Bible translates straight to “To Be”, which translates into “Existence”. All of it. God is God is God…
Really poor sound on this file. Volume at max just to hear it.
Geoff still has it. Look up some of his stuff..
HELL YA

You seem to forget Hear In The Now Frontier
He started with Long hair! Hes very very very Cool Lyricly this band is Freaking AMAZING!
this cd ruleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Without Tate and DeGarmo is not Queensrÿche, the group must be all the Masters together to be The Master Group, its a shame.
Rage for Order was thier best album!
