I think the same thing after, yes after, changing my subaru plugs. a couple of those cavities were dusty. I didn't blow them out with air, but that would have been good times to have had.
Watching Alex and Peter on a Saturday morning takes me back to watching cartoons and having a good time when I was a young lad. 😃 I’m looking forward to how to the finish product will look and sound.
Yes, 100%! I'm in Australia so it's a Sunday morning for me when I end up watching the video. But definitely gives me cartoons before school vibes for me as I head off to work after. haha
Alex be careful with the old ecu it looks like you got at least a 4 maybe a 6 lb lower pulley on it, maybe even a smaller snout pulley on that blower too, you need to make sure the tune is set up for this engine or you can get detonation.
2008 Cayenne Turbo for my "truck". 600hp with just a tune and completely stock otherwise. It's a "sleeper" with no Turbo badge on it. Hurts a lot of feelings up mountain passes.
I own a double pulleyed, ported Kompressor, larger intercooled, methanol injected 1998 SLK230, with a set of road cams and a tune. Makes 376 hp and 490lbft of torque from 2000 rpm. Lowered on Bilstein b14 suspension, camber corrected with camber king control arms. Gaps gt mustangs and rt's all day 😂
I’m glad the engine turned out to be good. I always clear the plug holes with an air gun and then put a couple drops of oil down them to keep any debris from dropping into the cylinder when I remove spark plugs.
The “diablo” decals are covering up the port on the ECU that was used when actual physical chips were installed on them to tune it. If you want to tune it using a flash tuner, take that off and make sure there isn’t a chip on there, otherwise it’ll override anything that is flashed on there. The other thing to keep in mind is that the SCT MAF you got with the new motor needs to be tuned for as well, it’s not plug and play. The upgraded MAF is important, just a pulley and a cool night can max out the OEM MAF
I got $15 that says that Diablo tune is what roached his old engine. I posted a comment above that it would be wise to get a proper dyno tune once the new engine is installed and verified working with no codes. I've seen first hand what a bad tune can do to an engine at my friend's shop. He has an Audi RS3 engine with inspection ports in the side of the block made by an exiting connecting rod done by, you guessed it a bad tune. Fluid Motor Union has a dyno and could fix him up.
Peters face when that thing started first time epitomised every emotion a car guy/girl could have if they did this themselves. And his smile didn’t disappear. LOVE IT 😍
Good afternoon. If I'm not wrong. Those cylinder heads are interchangeable. Left to right or right to left. So are the intake manifold gaskets. That way they look like that. Great build. Thank you
love the content . Keep pushing. But In the future it’s always good practice to use compressed air and blow out the spark plug holes before removing them . Keeps a lot of that trash that can scratch cylinder walls out the engine .
Seriously, back in the very early 00s I had a black 1992 Acura Integra with bronze 16" Rota Slipstreams that I had done a bunch of engine work to and I pieced together a turbo kit from almost all junkyard parts. I got the turbo manifold from SSAutochrome eBay back in 2003 before they started selling cheap turbos, I paid $50 for a used Dodge Daytona T3 turbo, I paid $50 for a used front mount intercooler, I fabricated the downpipe and charge piping out of exhaust tubing, $75 for a set of DSM 440cc injectors, $100 for a Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump, a buddy of mine let me use his old Zdyne Gold SECU that he had in his EF Civic that he totaled, and I had the turbo's oil feed and drain lines made by a hydraulic shop. It went on to make 288 whp at 14 psi...without head studs. We used to drag race down the highway on the weekends back in the day and my car was one of the fastest once I put drag radials on the front. The only vehicle that could ever really edge me out was a 2002 Lightning that was a manual trans. He really used to piss me off because he would always brag about it afterwards and call my car Jap Scrap. He had alot of money in his truck though. It was black with 20" chrome wheels.

Noticed that same odd gasket thing on my 1999 Mustang GT passenger cylinder head when I supercharged it. I was told that Ford used the head in a variety of different applications and some had intake manifold bolt styles. Therefore the gaskets accommodate for either style intake manifold.

Hated to let it go, but it’s one of those deals where if you were going to, this is how you’d want it to be.

The fuel pump resistor on the front frame missing is causing your issue. Guys make sure that thing is good. These trucks will strand you if that thing goes bad. It's in a bad location too. Right at the front of the truck where things can bash it. It's a white ceramic horseshoe 🧲 looking with two wires. Cheers.
The re-install will be great! I am so keen to see how the Lightning performs with this stock engine with the supercharger it came with compared to the one that came with the lightning when you bought it. I am certain you did some performance runs! Even if you didn't you have to do some and compare it with the rebuilt engine.
They key restriction from stock to making real power after mods is the cams, of course you gotta add heads, etc. My friend made 750/775 with foxlake heads, custom cams, 2.6 Kenne Bell. 60 lb injectors and dual pumps. It put down 350 stock on the same dyno.
25ft-lbs on the spark plugs and they will never blow out. I've been using that torque on all 4.6, 5.4, and 6.8 V10's for years now and never had one come back.

It's always a good practice to blow out the Spark plug area with compressed Air before you pull the plug so dirt doesn't fall into the Piston area.
That was making me cringe. Guess he knows he's just making a video and is going to sell it on fleabay.

great Vid, made my Saturday morning. Can't wait to see you finish up that Alpina. Peter got the best spot in the house near that open header :)
Yes! I've missed the lightning, I saw the Facebook post and figured a lightning video was due. Happy to say you didn't disappoint.
Pete's Grin after the test shot says it all :-)
MOAR LOUD!
Bro I actually love this channel so much. I’ll be on break at work and be watching these videos while I eat my ham sandwich. Truly the best.
Alex you're a BEAST! Peter is a beast in training and a tremendous addition to the channel.
They are both seasoned mechanics
Damn that lighting engine sounds incredible and loud!! Can’t wait to see you get it back together running and driving!!
Peter/Alex that was KICK-AS! sounds loud, BUT SUPER HEALTHY Best of luck with it!
gotta admit thats one of the best sounding engines i have ever heard as is!!!
Lots of junk fell into that cylinder @15:45. Hopefully ya got it all cleaned out before the startup!
Those value covers are the cats meow…Peter looks like a good man……am glad you guys got together
They key restriction from stock to making real power after mods is the cams, of course you gotta add heads, etc. My friend made 750/775 with foxlake heads, custom cams, 2.6 Kenne Bell. 60 lb injectors and dual pumps. It put down 350 stock on the same dyno.
I had a vmp 2.3 on my mustang was a great blower . Not super loud but made good power and didn’t cause any trouble
25ft-lbs on the spark plugs and they will never blow out. I've been using that torque on all 4.6, 5.4, and 6.8 V10's for years now and never had one come back.
Oh my goodness. That sounds all kinds of epic.
Been subscribed for awhile. For some reason just got hooked again. Been watching all weekend. As many have said. I like Peter.
