The first time I heard this song was on the movie times square. Fell in love with it. And i've been one of my favorite roxy Music song³ ever since Along with Avalon love is a drug. And Virginia plains And more than this
That bass!!!! Such a star in this piece of music, yet it fits so coherently with the rest of the song. Such a strong piece of music. Almost showing off!
@@porno6361 I do not know him ; Andy Newmark replaced Paul Thomson between 80 and 82 and played drums with Bryan after the Roxy period but this drummer is a famous Unknown !
The intro is clearly taken from Blondie's 1978 song "Heart of Glass". Andy Taylor has a series of videos here on RUclips where he talks about Duran Duran's songs.he said his bass hero was always Bernard Edwards of chic. I wonder if there is any Bernard Edwards influence here with Roxy Music
I love how the drummer just bounces along. He has me in a trance. Who is it by the way? Looks a bit like Paul Thompson but Paul never used to bounce around so much in the early days of Roxy
@@jaysarajevo yes i looked up the recording info for the flesh and blood LP and I looked up Allan Schwartzberg and saw a picture of him and I can safely say it's not him!!

A track that never fails to give me goosebumps. Superbly crafted with so many unusual elements ❤

Same, i can't think of any artist who's music creates such feelings and lasting appeal - timeless
Still listening in 2024 ❤
1980. It's 40 years and this cat's still styling. Not many in the industry can say that...
Closer to 52 years now. Roxy Music started way back in 1971.
Indeed they did, but I wrote "1980" because of the release date of Flesh + Blood and this single. @@v1e1r1g1e1
Perfection, just one of those songs to me that always sounds like the first time i ever heard it! :-)
I'm 49 yrs old fell in love with Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry in 1987 12 years old. It never gets old I play it a lot
Gary Tibbs ruling... Great basslines here...
Actually Alan Spenner played on this and most tracks but Gary did all the promotion
Alan Spenner, of that, I'm sure. 😂
my favourite roxy music song
Mine too!
me 3
Same here.
Yes and more than this
Definitely 😊
Best Roxy track. Sublime.
Music doesn't get much better than this! ;-) Musical legends who inspired the New Romantics.
Bass line kicks so much ass!
Alan Spenner. Genius.

And Virginia plains And more than this
This was a warmup for the greatness that lies ahead...Avalon
Errr, the greatness happened in '73. ruclips.net/video/G56DaSAeZfM/видео.html
This song is the remains of a dream
One of my most loved Roxy songs. Danced my butt off back then. I miss it.
Sublime bass.
Truly sublime
Always loved this Roxic music song🎵😊
I grew to love this because it's the opening song in the 1980 movie "Times Square" with Tim Curry. The movie has a great soundtrack.
When we thought that the future was going to be elegant...
how wrong we were.

I was blessed to grow up in an era with spectacular music like this.
Reminded of this classic after watching reruns of Ashes to Ashes on Netflix during lockdown. So may bands that came from this......
A legendary pop rock band ; one of their best songs ever, for sure ! Just a big regret, Paul Thompson is missing !
And Alan Spenner on bass!
Who was this drummer?

@@stiofandundealgan1280done a bit more digging,it could be Dave Early who sadly died in 1996,have a google of him
Not a pop band
Great song. One of my favorite .
Absolute quality.
Wonderful as all of ROXY Music. Bryan voice just fab🤠❤️
Cooler than the other side of the pillow.
What a voice ,just magical
love the sound
one of roxys best love it
This was the dj's closing number at my sister's 21st 🎈 party. Being only 15 at the time; I never appreciated it's sheer genius.
That bass and intro is what turned me on to Roxy. .......and Duran Duran :D
Yes, both Roxy & Duran basslines are very underrated.
Alan Spenner on bass. Brilliant.

LOVE IT!!!! ❤❤❤
Сколько гуляю по You Tube, постоянно какие-то невероятные открытия !
Абсолютно идеальная New Wave музыка.
Золотые времена....
roxy music a great glam-rock band.
This song reminds me of my Mum, The Living Legend!
One of my favorite songs ever ❤
Saw him in Melbourne, Australia 2008 and on their 50th tour in San Francisco 2022ish❤on his birthday and mine :))
Thanks for post! Over and over each and every song just perfect! Forever roxy! And yes Bryan Ferry!
My goodness. I was ten when this song came out. Still got the lp Flesh And Blood.. Brilliant track.
Always in my heart !

Cracking bassline, great fun to play
Brilliant tune.
What a glorious sight - Bryan Ferry dripping in sweat 😊

As a painting is the residue of a memory
thx mom...one of my favs ever
Have always loved this 😊
Awesome!!!!
Disco Roxy 🎉
Class...Timeless!
Used brilliantly in the opening credits of Times Square (1980)
The soundtrack album was where I discovered the band. Had it when I was 15

Gary Tibbs :) oh man he was so damn fine back then.. I would, all day !!
Alan Spenner!
Bass by Alan Spenner is awesome.
Gary Tibbs on bass
Good bass player I'm just learning it some nice fills in all Roxy and Ferry's songs top band
@@r.fernandes9526 Spenner did play bass on this though but it is Tibbs in the video. strange.
awesome
Fantastic tune xx
true class!
Mint song
Great song shame it’s not live
Bands learned from the New Order debacle that you don’t insist on doing TOTP live.
This was a pop show on Dutch tv,I’m sure it would’ve sounded fantastic live, shame!
They could never have done it live....lot of studio production.
I like this song because I like Ashe's too ashes TV program with Keely hawes as DC Drake
Superb
Love it!!!!
Loved is since Asges to Ashes
Bryan ferry had the style man that no one could reach at his level 😎
The first Roxy Music song I heard.
CLASS
Great upload. However, it may be the quietest upload on all off RUclips!!!
Gary Tibbs ex Vibrators bass guitarist. 😊
And Adam and Ants
Its Alan Spenner!
Yep, he was brought in for his image , they never played this live. Spenners is on the track.
Bryan looks great
epic song. ps- also in Times Square heh
great
❤ Still listening in 2025 ❤
Ésta canción es una influencia directa al estilo de Durán Durán...,en cási toda su estructura musical...,al igual que la influencia de la banda JAPAN.
Is this smart casual then ?-roxy ahead of the tymes as ever-xx
I love how the drummer just bounces along. He has me in a trance. Who is it by the way? Looks a bit like Paul Thompson but Paul never used to bounce around so much in the early days of Roxy
Allan Schwartzberg likely. He played on the studio track which is what you’re hearing here. This is all lip-synched unfortunately.

He's playing left handed, so it's definitely not Paul! I'm so confused right now.
They used to hire musicians for tv shows who were available and needed some money. In the 80s were only 3 regular members: Ferry, Manzanera and Mackay
Shopping at the Saks Fifth Avenue at waterside shops Naples Florida
You could fit em all in a phone booth. (dont pretend like you dont know what a phone booth is) : )
Bryan was in the same class at infant school as Howard Kendall. The pair stayed friends.
Tragic Movie.
The movie Times Square brought me here .
❤😢
Never seen Bryan Ferry with a guitar.

Keyboard, harmonica, whistling, finger popping but no guitar playing.
Unusual line up of the band?
roxy music , wonderful , definately gave spandau ballet the idea ?
Heard this track playing at Walmart believe it or not. Stopped me in my tracks.
Phil Manzanera is so tall
Is he "Empire state human" tall?
Philip Targett-Adams, only found out recently after 49 years being a Roxy fan, this is his real name! Chequered early life in South America.
Did you have the Times Square movie soundtrack?
🤙🏼🤩
They don't make stuff like this anymore sadly
Gary tibbs....guau...
This is air band. Great song still.
AHAHAHAH i like the drummer, very funny like play the drums!!!
There is a kickass remix of this classic and classy song, called Glimmers remix. Check it out 👌😁
