I really like the Brutfuner. I have this 180 set and also the 120 square barrelled ones. Both sets are nice and they are different to each other - they are not the same pencil. All these pencils are made in China which is why they are so cheap. You can't go wrong with either of the sets but if you are a colourist who likes colouring books then I think the square ones are a slightly better on smooth paper.
@@peggyjanovick Hey no problem, happy I was able to help. There's so much choice nowadays in the coloured pencil world that it can get a bit overwhelming. I have been on a research binge so have managed to get quite a bit of information. Just to add to my earlier comment, all the black barrel pencils are made in one factory in China and are all basically the same pencil so Brutfuner 180, Shuttle Art Professional 170, Creyart, Artworks etc are all the same pencil so if you buy one set, then you don't need to get the others. The exception I think is Castle Arts, although I think they are made in that factory, the cores of those pencils are different or at least that's my impression (I have never used Castle Arts so I couldn't say for certain). A couple of other good quality budget sets to look out for are Fuxi Obos (which come in a whopping 200 colours!) and the Nyoni 120. Both of these sets are similar looking to each other (they look a bit like Polychromos) I don't think their cores are exactly the same according to reviews I have read (the Fuxi are slightly softer than the Nyoni apparently). I have just ordered the Fuxi Obos 200 set so can come back and let you know what they're like if you are interested.
I just bought these on Amazon for $37.98 minus a 24% off coupon so $34.94. They are shipped from Amazon. Supposed to arrive in two days. I had already purchased the pastel set of 50, called "Macaron" on the box with the name Brutfuner in the upper corner. They were shipped in a padded envelope but the pencils survived. The two trays inside the box are a cheap clear plastic so I will switch to something else for storing. I made my own swatch sheet. They are definitely an oil base pencil, very "buttery" for lack of a better word. I am a colorist, not a professional artist.
The 120 square brutfuner are said to be better they’re made in china and a follower of Pamela’s passion for pencils actually translates it and it’s available on her blog I believe and her Facebook page I love them so much I bought a second set. As a backup in case they disappear as things made in china sometimes do
Have you tried frame a drawing made using these pencils and hang on a wall? I would like to know if the colors of Brutfuner will fade? and how to prevent it if the answer is yes
I have not, but I believe Lori from the Color My World channel did something similar to test several of the budget brands. It was awhile ago so I don't remember the results. Light fastness ratings are usually in the high end pencils. I also recommend purchasing a final fixative for colored pencils that has a non yellowing UV protection. Also check out Coloring Bliss with Jennifer. Both have been using this medium for many years.

still debating about those too.. My head is the square ones are harde to sharpen?? and they have chinese names on, but most people are praising them.. But the black barrels has 40 colors more and are nicer for people with a harder hand i heard.. so i realy dont know what to choose and i cant affort both atm.....
There are so many brands of colored pencils on the market. It can be a challenge to find the ones that suit you best. It is through trial and error... I'm glad I got these, the number of pencils for the price is good. I will probably get the square ones along with a new pencil sharpener.

There are many colored pencils on the market, and I have seen many videos of other brands that look like the Brutfuner 180ct colored pencil set.
I have the 120 square they have no names on them which is very frustrating
