The colours are exactly the same number and name as Shuttle Art, I’m pleased as I was thinking of getting the Brutfuna 180 set, thank you for the amazing video xx
They look exactly like the 180ct Soucolor pencils I got last month but without Brutfuner on the pencil. I'm new to coloring & am loving your videos. Very informative. Thank you!
Soucolir is wax. Brutfuner is supposed to be oil, so that's a huge difference. Or the B 180 is a fake. Site says they only make up to 160 oil and 180 watercolor. They also show the 120 as round but I find nowhere on amazi a 120. Somethubg stinks in China.
Can I just post this for anyone in the UK. I just saw the Springhill paper suddenly appeared on Amazon with free shipping to the UK! I could not believe it - normally shipping is more than the item! I went through checkout to make sure I was not imagining it - but yes it was true. I ordered it. Will let you know if I get slapped with some hidden charge!
Awesome comparison. 👏👏 180 for those of us who are collectors. There is a saying for quilters, "She who dies with the most fabrics wins!" Adapted for colorists, "They who die with the most coloring supplies win?"😉🤣
The 180 set is a wax based pencil and a copy of many other sets (shuttle art, soucolor, kalour, etc.)It is not meant to layer the way an oil pencil can. If you review your blending test, you may notice that it took far longer to layer/blend the 180 than your 120 or the polychromos. Eventually you would notice the 180 blend start shedding the pigment off its top. These are not actual brutfuners (round/square, smaller core, oil base and sold in 120 or 168 sets named wanshui or southsun) I bought the Kalour version of this 180 set and I like them, they are soft and blend well but they are not oil and should not be marketed that way. If you try to layer these they will build up, rub off and ruin your picture.
Yes exactly what I'm saying!! Exactly as identical; what a scam! You think that they are different and buy them to realize that they are the same. Waste of money for us and gain of money for them. I hate liars and scammers.

I love the Creyart pencils which are oil based pencils. They play well with Polychromos pencils. I haven't tried them with the BF's 120. I heard that the 180 set is like the Soucolor 180 set. Thank you for sharing the tests.
I love these. Even my mom decided to order a set. She liked them. I love them better then Prismacolors pencils...🌸 So many colors. So pretty. I'm happy with mine. 👍👍👍🙂🙂And I don't think there is a duplicate in the box. I love that there are so many. I think I want a different case for mine. Even though the box is nice. Love the blending nice.
The blending transition test you did clearly shows the superiority of the 120 set, with two distinct color bands created between the three colors vs. the 180 set barely at all. Maybe you would see this better in the video.

Thank you for sharing, these seem very so to the Kalour180 set that I purchased in January. It has the metallics in it as well. I’ll be looking forward to the next video on the swatching/color order of the 120 set. I received mine on Saturday and haven’t put mine in order as yet.
Hello Pamela! I'm very happy that you've made this vidéo !!! I would know the difference between these 2 sets! I already have brutfuner 180 and I would rate squares! Thank you so much for your videos I love your channel ! 😘
Hi there! I bought the Brutfuner square oily pencils. I don’t know whether I received a bad batch, but I had trouble with sharpening them ~ they broke easily. I must return mine back It’s still fun trying out new pencils, though! I will probably try these! LOL. I buy the same pencil cases as you do. Love them - super convenient.
Ha! I'm swatching my brand new Bruthfuner color pencils (120 round) this very moment. Since I don't have poly's, it'll be interesting to see your comparisons.
Oh I have a video coming where I am putting these all in exact color order by family then color within each family. I also have an extra added surprise that will be so helpful. Look for that video soon!
These are labeled exactly like my kolour set , except mine has kolour on the barrel ,,, even the metallics are the same ! The difference is my kolour says they are wax ... I wonder about these sets if they are fibbing about being wax or oil base
They are also the same as the black barrel Shuttle Art 174 set and the Soucolor 180 sets. The only real difference is that the Kalour & Brutfunners have 6 diferent extra colors.
@Tracy Peacock I have also wondered the same thing! (about some brands or manufacturers that fib on whether they are oil based or not) I have actually watched another video and the colorist states that it may be fact. Regardless of how much oil or wax is in this Brutfuner 180 set-I just got mine today and so far I am very happy with this purchase. I will definitely post more comments on these as I become more familiar.
This set has all the same colors as the Shuttle Art 174 set only with 6 extra pencils. Those extra colors are 181 BRIGHT YELLOW 182 APRICOT YELLOW 183 DARK SALMON PINK 184 LIGHT GRAYISH PINK 185 BLOOD RED 186 DARK PEACH PUFF. I just ordered my set today for $38 and some change. Thanks for the review now I have a new set of pencils coming. I haven't bought a set of new pencils in over a year. Thanks again.
Thanks for such a detailed review. I can't wait to see your new colour order. I'd love to know how they compare colour-wise and number-wise to the 120 square set...like are the numbers the same?
Just a tip: the derwent blender pencil can be use to blend them better..I think..with this video definitely I'll buy the Brutfuner, with the round barrel 😌😌😌

Oh no! Don't make me want another set! I have the 160 set and I was already planning on getting the square set to go with the Marco Pastels. And I found a place in the UK that sells Stickles and received 10 in the mail today! 😭😂🤣
Great video! I have the 160 round (full-color barrels b/c Southsun was the name on the outer packaging but Brut on the actual pencils) and when swatching, I noticed a bit more pencil dust with those than with most of my other pencils.
Have you tried frame a drawing made using these pencils and hang on a wall? I would like to know if the colors of Brutfuner will fade? and how to prevent it if the answer is yes
I haven’t framed anything I’ve done with this set. I would not guarantee that that’s lightfast. I’m sure that they would definitely fade. Just recently I had to pull out my swatch sheet for my Black Widow pencils to reference and noticed it has faded greatly. I wouldn’t trust any set until it’s artist grade and they have an actual lightfast rating.
Hi...I just bought the 120 set and saw on your FB that you have a pdf of the names and numbers, thank you for that. but, can you please provide it in either a .doc or an excel file for those of us who catalog our pencils differently? Please and thank you.
I’m assuming you’re referring to the translations? If so, I didn’t create that one and so I can’t change the format. If you’re referring to my color swatch chart for the 120 set, it wasn’t created in Word so I don’t have that option.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils that's ok, I took the PDF and put it into Excel, works great and saves me from retyping those names. I so appreciate your time doing this.
Where can you get these in Canberra? And what’s the most biggest set of this brand. I have faber castell polychromos 120 pack. And the prismacolour 150pack already.
Hi Pamela, Check with your Kalour and Shuttle Arts (if you have them) cause I think the Brutfuner here are all three the same, at least they have the same number and same names. I tried them and from my point of view all three brand are the same.
Ok so I am watching a lot of your videos and I’m really enjoying the trials of learning new and interesting things. Now you have done a lot of pencil reviews I’m ready to buy a decent set of pencils but I can’t decide which one’s to get. I’m stuck between these four sets the 180 soul color, 180 brutfuner, 180 kalour, and the 180 shuttle art set. In your option which one do you think I should get or should I go smaller say the 72. Then there is the choice of wax, oil or watercolor? Could you steer me in the right direction?
Hi William, I believe all those pencils may be the same, just under different branding. I am not sure about the Shuttle Art, but all the others named are the same.
So the 120, 180, n 520 are all different kinds of pencils? I have the 520 and I heard the 120 was better but I didn’t know anything about a 180 set n I have a pencil problem n need them all 😂
I'm so sorry that they're breaking on you even using the Dahle 133. I have not had any issues yet but I've not started sharpening all of them yet. I am still working on sorting my 120 set.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils I am still working through mine, but out of 5 I have had two where the core just fell out after sharpening. Will keep sharpening and see what happens!
Does anyone know why Brutfuner (and many other pencils) don't put their colors together? There are reds mixed all throughout the box, oranges, blues, greens, all of them just mixed all over the place. ??
There is 12 metallics in this set. The metallic pink is mislabled as metallic ochre. There's also 2 different colors called Apricot yellow. If you want to see a color chart look up the Shuttle Art 174 set on Amazon.
Hi Cookie! Thank you for the info. I was wondering why my "ochre" wouldn't have looked yellow/gold. Is this mislabel of this particular pencil a known issue of this set or specific to just mine that you noticed in the video?
@@PamelasPassionforPencils it's a known labeling issue. Everyone I've ask has the same mistake in their set. There are some spelling mistakes and others have had some different mislabeled pencils as well. There's some comparison videos by The Dollar Diva and My coloring corner with Rene that have some good info.
Do these pencils dissolve and move with water? Hopefully not. My Polychromos do not at all. I did find that the Schpirerr Farben did however, there new 96 set, so I returned them. I would like another budget friendly pencil that is more oil based. Thank you so much in advance for your help.
@@Rebecca640 This is wonderful news. Which set, the round black barrel ones or the square pencil set? Many thanks for the information. How do you like the pencils for our coloring books?
@@FairytaleSF Oh no. I sure hope the square shaped ones don’t move with water. If so, they will be going back. I do believe that this has been a change in the cores for those made in China. It should not be happening, and sadly I don’t even want to use them to color in my coloring books. I am prepared to stay with Prismas and Polys if I can’t find a set that won’t run with water, even to color in my coloring books. The good thing is that with all the pencils sets coming out, it has made Polys and Prismas more affordable in my opinion.
Yes. No very light blue which is kind of disappointing in a set this big. I mean 180 pencils is A LOT of pencils, Right?? I can not even thinking about swatching all of these lol
Pam when I pull out the part of my cable 133 to put the pencil into the hole, the little tray pops out partially and it stays out until i have sharpened the pencil. Is that normal? Or am I doing something wrong? I would expect the tray to stay in place during the sharpening and not pop partially out. Am I wrong or am I doing something wrong?. After the pencil is sharpened and I remove the pencil the part goes back as does the little tray. I'm confused. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks! Libby
I don't think that is supposed to happen and I'm not sure why it would pop out. Maybe check out this video that is basically a manual for the Dahle 133 since it didn't come with instructions: ruclips.net/video/BVnyZaB3bwg/видео.html
I don't mind if the color are look similar, as long as they give us the bright colors. Most of pencils colour provide many the dark colors in one set 😢
@@PamelasPassionforPencils oh, ok, thank you so much for your reply. I knew you had made charts for the square ones and several other pencils. i guess that explain why i couldn't find a video for it.😃
Fun fact: Brutfuner and Shuttle Art use the same pencils, which are manufactured by the same factory in China and then sold under Brutfuners or or any other cheap art companies brand (like Shuttle Art).
@@dessertcomes1st i was thinking the same thing :( I was gonna get the 240 set of Kalour but still I haven't figured out if the brands are actually selling the same pencils or they are just similar. Have you figured it out or what set have you got?

@@PamelasPassionforPencils You say, “I grabbed one of the Triangular Pencils from the 120 set...” (Timestamp 5:48) so I was wondering what triangular set you were referring to,
Customer service say that the only difference is the shape, that seems strange to me as why would they make different shaped pencils? Looks like you have found them to be different,I’m confused now🤔🤔
Thank you so much for such an excellent review. I just learned about this brand of colored pencils today, as I watched a color-along video. I loved the colors so much, & many of them were very different from my Prismacolor pencils. Because a few people complain about the amount of dust from the 180 set, I am inclined to get the 120 set instead. However, I'd hate to miss out on some of the great colors. Is there any way to find out which pencils are missing from the 120 set. That is a difference of 60 pencils, which is a lot. Maybe I should just get a big & soft brush to just brush away the pencil dust & go get the 180 set, lol. Thanks again. :)
The 120 set and the 180 set are completely different pencil sets. Most people have them both. The 180 does come with some metallics which the 120 does not. The 120 set is square and these are round. There are quite a few differences between the two sets.
Thank you, Pamela, for doing this test! I was very curious! I might lean toward the 180 set because of the metallics but it also seemed that the 180 set had lots of duplicate colors - or, rather, colors so close together that it’s hard to tell them apart. So, given all of that, would you lean more toward the square 120 or the round 180?
If I had to choose, I would go with the 120 set. They are difficult to find and you have to grab them when they pop up on Amazon again. I will continue to post as they become available.
That all depends on which Brutfuner you're referring to and which Kalour. Of these sets, the 180 black barrel that you're seeing in this review and the other 180 black barrel pencils from the other brands, they're all the same pencils.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils so, do they colour and feek different? I have the 180 black set and I'd like to know to decide if I should purchase the square ones :D
I wonder if these are now different pencils because I have not see brutfuner pencils like this before. These are not the square ones or the other brutfuner pencils I have or anyone elses I've seen.
I did this video because it was requested as with most of my videos. I don’t ever “push” anything on anyone. I give my honest review and thoughts through demonstrations which you an clearly see on video. It’s up to the viewer to decide what they’d like to purchase if anything at all after watching. These pencils are around $34 for 180 of them I don’t think you can get a more budget friendly pencil. I highly doubt these videos are driving up prices. They are here to help someone who is interested in them make a final decision. One would only watch this video if they were interested in these pencils to start with. I hope you have a wonderful day and are able to decide what pencils are best for you and fit into your budget now that you’ve watched the video. 😀

maybe i missed it? what's the size difference in the core width? the round ones look bigger.
I would love to do a color along or see a tutorial using these pencils on a coloring page when you have time. Cheers!
I just found ths set on my Amazon
So the 120, 180, n 520 are all different kinds of pencils? I have the 520 and I heard the 120 was better but I didn’t know anything about a 180 set n I have a pencil problem n need them all 😂
Dos the colos and numbers corespond with the oil based pencils. I have hem and there is no names on them
I really want to like these, but I have so much core breakage when I sharpen with my Dahl 133. Not all of them, but more than I would like.
I bought the Souclour which are almost alike
Yes, they are the same. Enjoy!
So out of your pencil sharpeners which is your most favorite because you talk about Dahl 133 but have 2 others listed.
The Dahle 133 is my favorite. The small KUM is my second.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils awsome thank you definitely ordering then.love your videos.
Do these pencils dissolve and move with water? Hopefully not. My Polychromos do not at all. I did find that the Schpirerr Farben did however, there new 96 set, so I returned them. I would like another budget friendly pencil that is more oil based. Thank you so much in advance for your help.
They do not, I tested it
@@Rebecca640 This is wonderful news. Which set, the round black barrel ones or the square pencil set? Many thanks for the information. How do you like the pencils for our coloring books?
I tested the ones with black barrels and they moved ;)
@@FairytaleSF Oh no. I sure hope the square shaped ones don’t move with water. If so, they will be going back. I do believe that this has been a change in the cores for those made in China. It should not be happening, and sadly I don’t even want to use them to color in my coloring books. I am prepared to stay with Prismas and Polys if I can’t find a set that won’t run with water, even to color in my coloring books. The good thing is that with all the pencils sets coming out, it has made Polys and Prismas more affordable in my opinion.
I'm trying to find the same...less expensive oil and wax based pencils to fill in for the Prismas and PCs.
It's the wood not the lead that makes it hard to sharpen. I have the 120 set, and I think the 120 set is better than the 180.
Can u give me ur opinion which is the best ? Kalour Or Brutfuner 180 Set 🙆🏻♀️
You would think without colors there would be at least a pale in each color family. Especially with the blues and greens with so many of those.
Yes. No very light blue which is kind of disappointing in a set this big. I mean 180 pencils is A LOT of pencils, Right?? I can not even thinking about swatching all of these lol
We can tape/glue the top of the sleeve on the top of the tin to save it :)
Mine is now torn! Haha! It was so hard to get off on this set.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils ty. I will do that. I appreciate your input.
I don't mind if the color are look similar, as long as they give us the bright colors. Most of pencils colour provide many the dark colors in one set 😢
I had to tear my sleeve too. Glad it was not just me!
Did you make a color chart for 180 brutfuner? I thot you did but i can't find the video.
I didn't make a chart for these.
Soucolor is also the same. 😀
Thank you for sharing 🤗🦋
Thanks for watching!
Please color with these pencils.
I have been using Soucolor 180 colored pencils...I think they might be the same pencils. They are currently my favorite. Hmmmm
I'm thinking if I'll get those or the Brutfuner 180 or the Kalour 180. They might all be the same... or similar.
@@dessertcomes1st i was thinking the same thing :( I was gonna get the 240 set of Kalour but still I haven't figured out if the brands are actually selling the same pencils or they are just similar. Have you figured it out or what set have you got?
Could always decoupage the art work on the box
Are the round 180 pencils water soluble?
These aren’t watercolors. They’re colored pencils. 😀
Hi, I'm busy, to look your videos... thank you so much, for doing all this, for us
A Question is popping up in my head... castle Arts or Brutfunner.
Could you help me please, on this one.
Thank you🍀
Brutfuner 😊
Is this set the same as the watercolour pencils?
Hi Charlene, no, they are not.
Maybe square pencils feel a bit easier to sharpen because of their shape - because you have to remove less wood.
Best unique colour pencils
Triangular set?
What about the triangular set? Brutfuner doesn't make a set that is triangular. Arteza does make a triangular set though.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils You say, “I grabbed one of the Triangular Pencils from the 120 set...” (Timestamp 5:48) so I was wondering what triangular set you were referring to,
@@ArtJourneyUK I may have meant square. Sorry about that!
I just rec'd the Castel set with the fabric case tonight.....The smell is so bad!!! Has anyone had experience with this?
Just let them air out with the top of the tin off of them. The smell will go away.
So amazing
Brutfurner o kalour ?
That all depends on which Brutfuner you're referring to and which Kalour. Of these sets, the 180 black barrel that you're seeing in this review and the other 180 black barrel pencils from the other brands, they're all the same pencils.
Nope I am not going to get these!!! No no no (as I run to put them in my cart). 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Yea you will.....🤣🤣
So, do you think they're the same pencils but in a different barrel shape? TIA =D
They’re not the same as the squared 120 set. 😀
@@PamelasPassionforPencils so, do they colour and feek different? I have the 180 black set and I'd like to know to decide if I should purchase the square ones :D
@@PamelasPassionforPencils thanks for your help!
I wonder if these are now different pencils because I have not see brutfuner pencils like this before. These are not the square ones or the other brutfuner pencils I have or anyone elses I've seen.
This looks so much like castle art
Hi Iris, they are a different pencil. I also have a review on the Castle Art set on my channel.
So, Brutfuner is better
very manly tin
ya when you guys push pencils it drives up the price for those who would like to get them at a decent price
