I tried this recipe today and it is a keeper. Easy, fast, and really good muffins. I'll keep the recipe as a great basic one to add my own tastes to. Next time I will try lemon juice instead of vanilla and double the amount to make a pan full for my whole family coming in two weeks. The crumb topping is great but would be all over my house after the grands dig in so a coffee cake style using forks may help that problem. I want to use real whipped cream over top or maybe vanilla ice cream. You picked a great name for this recipe!
3:14 "Don't bleed and the colour doesn't run". Literally 2 seconds later it immediately starts to do just that lol. What I've found for myself and baking blueberry muffins is that fresh blueberries bleed the most. Frozen on the other hand, doesn't if you follow these steps: - Rinse your frozen bloobs with continuously running cold water in a sieve/colander/whatever you want to call it, until the water starts to run clear - Get 2 large cloths, or 2 small towels that you don't care about potentially staining-something very thick and absorbent like terry cloth - Spread out your bloobs on one towel in a SINGLE layer; nothing piled on top of each other - Use the 2nd towel and GENTLY rub the bloobs dry - Alternate between dry spots on each towel as desired/needed - Your bloobs are perfect to use once they are slightly wrinkled, and you can rub your hand on them and extremely little colour (ideally none, but it's okay) is rubbed off onto your hand

Made this today. So delicious as if it came out from a bakery 😊 I twist a bit by reducing sugar, add milk choc chunk, because blueberry and chocolate were good together. The crumb topping is to die for. Thanks Gemma.

Just made these today! I didn't have regular milk, only buttermilk and that paired with Fage greek yogurt made it tart. The texture was great! I knew when making the crumb that I wouldn't like so much flour in the crumb. I was right. Next time I'll try it with butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Also will try with regular milk and adding lemon zest. Will also try without a crumb. My husband was a HUGE fan!!

Stuck on lockdown here in the UK and lemme tell you. This took me 15 mins to prep and only 20mins to bake (made smaller muffins) and DAMN. Best blueberry muffins I’ve ever had. And SO easy! I subbed half the sugar for light soft brown sugar and it was just amazing! Also decided not to make the topping, as trying to preserve ingredients that are hard to get hold of, so instead just sprinkled with some brown sugar, worked brilliantly. Thank you so much for keeping me going during this difficult time!!

LOve the recipe! Made it tons of times, sharing them. Ive also used frozen raspberries. I even tried something, I replaced part of the flour in the topping with graham cracker crumbs and made them with chopped apple. Wish I had some of your carmel on hand for that one. I just popped a batch of blueberry raspberry in the oven.

Tossing frozen berries in a bit of flour provides a coating to keep them suspended throughout the muffin, rather than sinking to the bottom to possibly create a soggy mess.
Actually this is NOT myth but tried and tested hack from bakers down the years. Not only with frozen, but with fresh berries, or nuts for instance if were baking a banana/walnut bread this would be advised too. I do it every time and have no nuts sink to the bottom, perfection guaranteed. 👌🏻
Flour doesnt always work, it depends more on the consistency of the batter. Best thing to do is keep some plain muffin mix to the side and put a spoonful of plain batter in the bottom of each cup before adding the blueberry mix. Works every time.

Looks absolutely yummm. I always use the tip of adding yoghurt to any of cake recipe and that does makes a difference in the texture of cake.
