Most people don't put effort into it. Sad to say, my first story was in some ways worse than your typical Sonic fanfic. But in the end, a story, fan-made or not, is a story. As long you put effort and thought in it, a fanfic can be just as good, if not better than canon in some ways. It's hardly gauranteed, but bad fanfics are only 90%. You'd be surprised how good the remaining 10% can be.
This is most certainly on the higher end of that 10%. Personally, becoming part of that 10% is my first goal as a writer.
Okay, you know how Hero has that special ability to parkour across walls? What if that's something Nil taught them. Just a thought.

But yeah, the name IS overused, which is probably why it got changed to Infinite in the official release. ;^)

@@theanimator4098 he said there would be 25 stages and total not including boss stages with an *average* of five stages per level because if you remove the boss stages from here the first Hub has four levels the mountain Hub has six levels and the carnival Hub has five levels so at fifteen levels now meaning still on average it's just that the Beach hub didn't have as much

Yeah no one can lie nintendo are very strict with fan games and its the only thing that bugs me out, they make amazing games and have ton of passonite game designers who care for the fans and games and you can see how much they have improved from the rough days of nintendo but happily i've recently seen them improving when it comes to fan games, for example Mario flashback is still playable as im texting this.

Maybe you could make a level or cutscene (your choice) in which Infinite finds a Chaos Emerald and he fuses it with a Phantom Ruby shard (kind of) and uses more power or something. Just an idea.

I've had this idea in my head for a while now, and thought it would make a pretty good final boss.
Backstory: What if when a Phantom Ruby is activated by a kindhearted person, it'll grant that person their greatest desire?
Cutscene: Sonic dashes through the barren forest, scars and branding visible across his body. He trips on a red jewel, which he recognizes as the Phantom Ruby, and it begins to glow. Sonic hears the voice of a small creature in his head. "I want you to form a contract with me. I will grant you one wish, anything you desire. It can be anything. I can grant any miracle. But after that happens, you must risk your life to fight for it until it comes true." Sonic then begins to hear music; a song he played often as a child. Tears welling in his eyes, he doesn't think much before declaring, "I wish I could start this war all over again. But this time, I'll fulfill the prophecy!"
The screen turns red, the Phantom Ruby's signature sound plays, and we're treated to the first cutscene from Sonic Forces. The game goes on to explain that Sonic Forces is actually one of many timelines, the start and end of which are determined by the player. Whenever the player makes a new avatar and replays the game, another timeline is created (this also affects Mania and Encore Mode). This also explains why Sonic seems so unaffected by Eggman's "torture", as he's already experienced it many times. Sonic's sole purpose for reliving the events of Forces is the assumption that the avatar will eventually be replaced by Sonia and Manic. When this happens, he hopes to find Queen Aleena, and the four would defeat the final boss- and Eggman- once and for all.
Hero defeats Infinite and brings him back to his senses. "I'm really sorry for all of this..." Nil sighs. Hero smiles and helps Nil to his feet. The ground rumbles, and Sonic's voice can be heard. "How are you still such good friends? I don't get it, because I... You and me, Tails, everyone... WE'RE NOT EVEN FROM THE SAME TIME ANYMORE!" The Death Egg Robot from Forces crashes up through the ground, a rabid Super Sonic controlling it from a cocoon in its stomach. "I've lost count of how many times I've relived this war... I'll do it again and again, UNTIL YOU GIVE ME BACK MY FAMILY! I don't care if you don't understand, I don't care if my words don't reach you... But please... LET ME DESTROY YOU!"
Gameplay: The battle would function similar to the trio phase of the original fight from Forces. Your avatar is accompanied by Nil, who you can also choose to play as. You defeat a wave of enemies (galaxy-textured models of the main cast, including other avatars) and race towards Super Sonic, aiming to do damage to the cocoon he's encased himself in. Once Sonic is defeated, the screen goes black and a text box appears.

Endings: Depending on what the player chooses, a different ending is achieved. If the player chooses "Yes", the Good Ending is achieved. The final group shot from Forces is shown, with Sonia, Manic, Aleena, and Nil added in. A snippet of Light of Hope plays in the background.
The Neutral Ending is achieved when the player selects "Cancel". The same group shot appears, but tinted red with the avatar and Nil missing. A monotone version of Fist Bump plays in the background.
The Bad Ending is far worse than it seems. If the player selects "No", the screen is split in two. On the left, Infinite and a randomly generated avatar are engaging in battle. On the right, Sonic is dangling from a set of strings, gears turning menacingly behind him. The same snippet of Light Hope from the Good Ending plays, but eerily distorted, almost demonic. The player is returned to the title screen, where no matter what series of buttons is pressed, the game deletes their save file, and tells them that the timeline has been negated.
The story sounds great so far! It made me sad a little knowing i need to wait for the second part 😂

One critique I did have was Infinite's monologue at the beach. It feels like it was a bit too long and revealing. Maybe have Infinite or some other item reveal some of this information piece-by-piece throughout the game(like a series of signs,journals, or newspaper clippings scattered throughout levels).
Otherwise, I'm really enjoying listening to this great storytelling! Keep it up!

If you happen to get my last comment with the hub worlds, this one will cover mission ideas as to give variety and creative from my experience of different missions from past games.
Mission ideas:
1) Recon missions, basically move behind enemy lines without getting spotted to get footage for the Freedom Fighters. Or if it's an unknown area like some ancient temples, look around but keep caution if enemy forces have their own recon force out.
2) Base defense and invasion, it'll be much like capture the flag but instead of a flag, it's the bases and if any line of defense for good or bad bases fall, it'll fall into their favor, gaining ground or losing ground (Ratchet and Clank 3 and Starlink Battle for Atlas).
3) Testing prototype weapons of different wispon weapons vehicles and gadgets and destroying enemy prototypes the Freedom Fighter don't know what it is (like the Lich in Halo 4 and 5 yellow Hellcat cruisers from Jak 2).
4) Special Ops while the army distracts the enemy while the hero works their way to say deadly cannons and robots (like the ARC troops in the hand drawn Star Wars Clone Wars mini series did).
5) Infiltration to enemy base for intelligence, a hero along with squad and one hacker head for one of the computer rooms and defend the hacker while they download the data off the computer (Sly 3 Honor Among Thieves).
6) Setting up base operations, this'll be similar to the one in Starlink Battle for Atlas so you can create different types of bases, like a weapon mods and prototypes place, mining for resources to make weapons and vehicles, observation for the area of world. It'll be a neat way of gaining more ground than the enemy does.
7) Rescue squads when in trouble, this'll be more of a minor part if you want to keep the alliance strong and don't lose anyone to Eggman's robots if the hero is close by near a small battle.
8) Deliver Bomb to enemy base, your hero and a squad of say 6-8 NPCs defend a bomb from enemy forces that'll try to stop you from bring a bomb to their base and it's reactor core and blowing it up and rebuild it from the ground up (a bit of Fortnite).
9) Evac civilians to safety, when a huge attack is coming to unarmed and defenseless civilians, the hero along with the army hold off Eggman's robots big or small, strong or weak, while some marines get citizens to evacuation exits or transports to flee the war zone (Halo Wars)
i've had and idea for your "game" Garrulous, for extra DLC you could add more hub worlds, like for example what infinite's life was like before he met hero and the whole 'phantom ruby' thing, you could also add another species, Jackal, their special skill would be boosts lasting a little longer and being able to make other teammates' boosts last longer as well, just an idea
maybe the metal type of charater could glide kinda

Some of the flashbacks could be levels, playing similarly to the hero+sonic combo levels, but instead you partner with nil, maybe you could use nil's sword in place of the wispon because flashback.

I know I’m probably not the only one who thought of this but I think there should be a dlc for this where you can play as infinite I think that would be cool and instead of the wispon you get the blade when you get to that point with a few more stages and a few more collectibles (btw this is great)

I absolutely love this but hearing it makes me think of an Infinite visual novel
The way you tell the story and how the flashbacks happen kinda reminds of botw
i really like this video, other than a great story it works well as white noise
My only problem is that Infinite's monologue is a little wordy at the beginning. Maybe a little "show don't tell would work there. Otherwise, amazing work!
It's really hard to show not tell when I don't have any visuals of what he's doing, especially since this isn't a typical story persay, more like a script for how the hypothetical cutscenes would go.
