That was true to begin with. Metal Sonic was relegated to side games and cameos after CD, even in the classic series he was only in Chaotix and Triple Trouble. Heroes was his first main appearance since CD. After that, just side games; Rivals 1 and 2 specifically. Generations was his next main appearance, then Mania, then Forces.
DarkLink1996 He technically didn’t even appear in forces, he was just a fake illusion by infinite. Generations also only had a past version of him who had no story involvement, just an optional boss fight you might not notice. Rivals was the last game where he had any relevance to the plot, with him working with Shadow to stop Naga. Mania only had him in a boss fight like CD. I just wished he has more appearances where he’s involved in the plot, rather then a one-and-done boss fight where nothing important happens and he disappears for the rest of the game. Chaotix is the only side game where he has importance, with him being a main villain, fighting you both before and during the final boss.
"Hey, I think people were really disappointed by the villains in Sonic Forces. I mean the player's didn't even get to fight Chaos or Shadow, and the boss fights they did have we lacklustre. I mean, what was the point in bringing back Zavok-?" "ZAVOK?! DID YOU SAY ZAVOK?! THAT'S A GREAT IDEA LET'S PUT HIM IN THE NEXT SONIC GAME!!"
The players didn't get to fight Shadow because Shadow fought Shadow because the Shadow that Shadow fought was a fake Shadow that was inferior to the true Shadow, who fought Shadow because Sonic was a personal rival and Shadow was unwilling to let Sonic fight Shadow, opting to fight Shadow himself.
@@linkmariokirby7373 The reason Shadow fought Shadow, to show off Sonic that he can beat Shadow, which is metaphorically saying he can beat him self. So Shadow styled on Shadow, telling Sonic that His cooler then Shadow and to show who's the real Faker.
Metal sonic needs his own game. The guy has always had a rebellious streak in the games and often betrays eggman. Metal sonic really is Sonics rival more so then shadow and he has a cameo in sonic adventure 1 in a test tub. Also metal sonic in heroes has all of chaos data along with potentially being the most powerful sonic boss. Also nice snide remarks to charmy.
Tyler Hughes but it was just a sonic clone, remember how they made him powerful in the cutscenes? They should’ve make him like this. Adding powers for making the game fun and challenging.
He betrayed Eggman ONCE. Maybe you're thinking of Bass from Mega Man. He betrays Wily two or three times purely because he doesn't like the doctor's current scheme.
@@Bluesit32 Actually Metal Sonic betrayed Eggman in Free Riders as well, so twice. I realize we don't like to talk about that game, but it still happened.
Kinda interested to see how would you portray interactions with team Dark. Shadow was pretty friendly with Metal in Rivals 2 and Omega is a fellow machine. Also, those two were the ones actually going to Metal to pick him up after his Heroes stunt. Not to forget that Shadow was worried about Metal hurting himself in Rivals 2 and actually acknowledged him unlike Eggman. There seems to be a lot of points to develop Metals connections besides Eggman, but Sega never used them.
Speaking of Rivals 2, Metal kind of risked his own life by TEARING HIMSELF OPEN to give Shadow a Chaos Emerald. That’s on top of the fact Metal knows how to use Chaos Control, and was very capable of just leaving without Shadow.
My boy metal finally gets in the spotlight! Man, just another way I relate to my favourite sonic-tuber, not just in terms of silver. Also, metal overlord was so godlike, it took 12 people to defeat him, with 3 going super.
@@orangecrust8002 "But sir! He already rewrote that game into something good!" "Oh? Well let's see him figure out a way to make him good in EVERY GAME WE MAKE. BWAHAHAHAHAHA"
I have a pretty good ending for your Metal Sonic story. Metal Sonic, after his adventures with Sonic and co, has learned and experienced so much he's practiacally a different machine from when he served under Eggman. He decides he is his own person, and thus changes his name and gets a new paint job. After the change, he goes to leave, but not before saying "One more thing Sonic, if our paths cross again, how about a race?" Sonic agrees, and they part ways.
Theory: Metal Sonic gained the ability to speak when he downloaded Charmy's data Also, in Metal Sonic Rebooted, overclocked mode only works when you don't have all Chaos Emeralds. When you do transform into it, though, your rings will drain just like your super form, except instead of your super form going away when your ring count goes to 0, you die.
If SEGA makes a Metal Sonic game, without any reference to the OVA, to the other robot Sonics that Eggman made (also including Metal Knuckles and maybe even the Tails Doll since canonicaly it's a robot), and Metal's other forms (Neo, Metal Overlord, that one from Sonic the Fighters and the one from Chaotix) I will be sad. Also imagine if Metal Sonic had to fight another Metal Sonic, and then they did a reference to that scene from the OVA, or to the faker scene from SA2, or to how Metal Overlord called Sonic his loathsome copy. Like if this game happens I really want to see a Metal Sonic vs Metal Sonic fight, ir Metal Sonic vs some other robot that is based of some other character (like Metal Knuckles) And if that does happen, and Never Let It Go, Look-A-Like (or any OVA song), What I'm Made Of or any other song related to Metal Sonic (his Chaotix or his Sonic 4 theme, a remix of his triple trouble theme, the S3&K final boss theme for Mecha Sonic, etc.) that isn't Stardust Speedway Bad Future JP plays I will be sad. (I like the song I just think it got used too much. I'm kinda tired of it.) Also do the Shadow Androids count as one of Eggman's robot copies of the other characters?
There was a similar story in the Archie comics, the original Metal Sonic (now rebuilt as a new robot called Shard) fought a newer Metal Sonic. What's interesting is the new Metal didn't want to fight Shard when Eggman ordered him to - he immediately wanted to go after the real Sonic. I suppose Eggman didn't tinker enough with his program to override that ingrained rivalry, even in another version of Metal Sonic.
That's quite an interesting plot you have. Now I'm really curious of where you're taking this story. It really makes me sad that Sega does Metal Sonic so dirty like this. He's Sonic's best rival so far and he deserves so much better than what he has nowadays.
I'll be honest Even if people think he "cant" or "shouldn't" return, I hate how they dont ever mention Mephiles again but will gladly bring back wisps and whatever the evil six were in lost world. They do alot of characters dirty in many ways
Thoughts on this idea that I had for a while: there’s an original metal sonic prototype (Metal Zero or something maybe less edgy) who was programmed with too much free thought but the ultimate objective to ‘destroy Sonic the Hedgehog’. The clash between freewill and obedience to his orders drove the prototype insane, so Eggman scraped him for a more obedient design. Little did he know his original creation escaped. The prototype KNOWS that if he just offed sonic he will shut down as he had completed his task, so what he does instead it interpret his orders as DESTROY SONIC’S IMAGE. This will end with him capturing sonic and switching their minds, thus allowing the metal sonic to undo all the good sonics done and ruin his friendships whilst everyone thinks that sonic was evil all along.
This story sounds really, REALLY interesting. I am a person who really likes the idea of Metal Sonic and Sonic teaming up, so this is really appealing to me. (Also your writing is really, really good. So that's a bonus) Can't wait to see how this story plays out!
Fun Fact: During the development of Sonic '06, SEGA planned to give stories to Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Rouge, E-123 Omega, Blaze and (for some reason) Metal Sonic. Maybe at the start of Metal's story he breaks the 4th wall by turning to the player and saying "Surprised to see me, player?". I'm getting off-track though. Metal Sonic would lead the Badniks and try to track down Princess Elise for Eggman during his story. Meanwhile he would question his existence and wonder why Eggman was against him trying to conquer the world in Heroes. Also, he was going to have an audible voice in his story provided by Ryan Drummond, but outside his story, he would just have his usual beeps, which would only be understandable by Eggman, Tails, Sonic and Omega. Metal would boss fight Tails three times and rival battle Silver, Omega and Sonic. At the end of his story, he would be destroyed by Tails and his scraps picked up by Eggman after his defeat
I have a feeling it’s a villain turning into hero story, and I like it! I wonder if Eggman will remake Robo Sonic (I still call him Silver Sonic) and Mecha Sonic to fight Metal
I have a idea for the story. After a few missions where you play as Metal Sonic, Dr Eggman gets worried and frustrated that they are using his Greatest creation against him. So while he continues to build a Metal Sonic that would Defeat the rogue one, hey would send Silver sonic, Mecha Sonic, shadow androids, anything that metal hasn’t fought yet to destroy him. I think that after the Mecha Sonic fight, and scanning him, Metal would be able to go super form after watching Mecha Sonic do it. From silver sonic, he would learn out to throw projectiles while in mid air, which will come pretty handy during the final boss fight, and etc, etc. After each boss fight, Metal learns a new move and becomes even stronger. I’ll leave the rest up to you
I think one good idea is that metal sonic begins to realize that, being a machine that can be left behind altogether will lead metal to be suspicious of eggman’s trust in him, which leads to metal being a little questionable about his motives in joining sonic’s crew. I think that in the end, metal returns to eggman’s side after proving himself to be the only robot-sonic eggman’s needs. Some of the bosses could be other sonic copies that sonic and metal fight, each one has a different cutscene when defeating a bot. Sonic would be all sonic, making quips and other things, while metal would say something along the lines of eggman’s making more copies after some of metal’s earlier defeats. Tails could’ve started to accidentally unlock memories from metal’s previous iterations, so over time, metal would realize that although eggman’s has made other copies, metal sonic is the only to survive some of his encounters with sonic, and would rejoin eggman’s after beating him. There could be certain stages that only one character could go in, making sure that both characters are used, and so the final boss could involve certain sections with one of the characters.
If I could make a Metal Sonic game, I think I would make one where you play a game from Metal Sonic's point of view. Where your goal is to complete different tasks for Eggman, but have the option to rebel against his orders if you wish. The game would have different outcomes based on your choices, similar to Shadow the Hedgehog. You could have an ending where you fight Sonic, an Ending where you fight Eggman, even an ending where you become so rouge, you have to fight Super Sonic. You of course also end up clashing with Sonic's friends and possibly even GUN if you want to include them.
I've had an idea for a M.Sonic game too. After a high-stake fight in space, Metal Sonic is knocked into the ocean after being trashed by Super Sonic. He is investigated by a race of aquatic mobians living in the deep dark depths of the sea who have no clue who he is or what occurs on the surface. Due to his damage M.Sonic can't use his jet engine to swim to the surface, and relies on the tech of the Aquatic mobians to improve his form (Who also don't have the tech to reach the surface). They use him to ward off recent mechanical attacks by an unknown force who is later revealed to be Eggman NEGA who has been camping at the bottom of the sea to prepare for an all-out surface invasion.
Throw in side characters that Metal could get attached to and it could lead to either a bitter sweet goodbye... Or Metal effectively becoming a Robot Sea Sonic.
loving this story and idea so far! if someone made this a fangame, i'd play it 100 times over! keep up with writing this, dylan! i can't wait to see where this story will go!
This whole video resonates with my metallic soul... I had few RPG ideas of Metal Sonic as a boss or a playable character, and even has a key role to play in the scenario I imagined.
I have no ideas for the story, but i do for the gameplay of Metal. Why make him play the same, when you can give him unique stages (Kind of like the Avatar in Forces, but it actually means something.) Full moveset is at the bottem. Metal's stages would be a mix of the Avatar, Werehog and Hunter levels in Forces, Unleashed and SA2. Open, non linear levels that have a more puzzle oriented goal. (Zelda, but with Pegasus Boots on steroids.) I'll explain my idea for his first real level. Green Groves. (Caves underneath Green Hill. Gotta keep some consistency.) The level starts with Metal landing in the centre, where he scans a boulder blocking the way towards the readings Tails gave him (Eggman.) This would prompt him to find two parts of a blaster, his first upgrade. The level itself divides into 2 paths. One requires fighting, while the other requires his unique digging and flying abilities. Path 1 would be a large open cavern, having three stumps leading to the Gun Barrel. Each of these three stumps will pit him against enemies. Organic enemies, like the soldiers we see in Forces, but more Hunter-themed. After sweeping those scrubs (using Fire, Drill and Hover wispons against Metal's Claws), he will obtain the barrel and teleport back to the main cave. Next, he has a series of broken ledges and walls above a rushing river. He will have to use a super jump first, then hover onto another platform, dig under the gap in the wall, super jump-hover to the nearest/highest ledge and beat up more goons. After that easy parkour, he obtains the Cell, and once again warps to the entrance. Now equipped with his proper blaster, Metal has his full moveset. He can jump higher, swipe his claws, dig, shoot and hover. The rest of the level is super short. Just an enemy lightning round, testing your skills with the moveset before revealing the Goal Ring. You can dig under some walls to find rings and recharge your laser if it overheats. This happens if you fire six consecutive shots or three consecutive charge shots. The meter recharges with enemy essence, like the meter in Unleashed, but is restored a lot less by Rings and every ten seconds.
so, recently iv been thinking. specifically, thinking about a story that I think could be a pretty good story to tell here. its not finished, far from it, but I would like some input on it. the story starts an undetermined amount of time after forces ends, eggman has been quiet for a while now so sonic and co are getting some well deserved R&R, aside from a major cause for concern. Tails went to investigate rumours of disappearances on west side island a few moths ago and despite everyone's best efforts, hasn't been found. roughly 5 months later, eggmans forces attack again, with what seems like a major shift in strategy. instead of the usual mass wave offensive that is normally employed, eggman robots have been focusing on capturing industrial areas and stopping anyone from launching an effective counterattack, as if either eggman has suddenly gained a large amount of experience in actually commanding an army, or someone new is helping him. if were going by the idea of this being a game rather than just a fanfic, the first few levels would mostly consist of sonic, knuckles, or shadow working to fight back against eggmans forces, with sonic doing more "recon" type missions, shadow doing infiltration and sabotage, and knuckles using a more direct approach to fighting back, with other characters either directly supporting the played character, or being mentioned as working on other areas. these missions can be done in any order and nothing would be lost or gained from playing in one order or another. after all characters have completed 3 levels, whoever was played in the last level has an encounter with a new enemy. a wolf with a faint purple aura around him, piloting a light battle mech. the fight itself depends on the character, with sonic having a fight similar to Generations' metal sonic fight, knuckles having a fight similar to the SA2 egg golem, and idk about shadow. the dialog would changes from fight to fight as well, with the wolf taunting sonic in a way similar to eggman already does, knuckled getting comments like "I wonder if there would be any strategic value in attacking angel island", and shadow simply getting provoked into getting angry. once the fight is over the wolf retreats, muttering to himself about having to "recalibrate systems back at the chemical plant". after that all 3 of them make a strike on the chemical plant and despite efforts to purge the plants data banks before the trio gets too far in, they gain intel on prototype weaponry, such as the wolfs mech, being developed in a hidden facility somewhere in the marble zone. before they can attack, its time for another round of 3 levels each. enjoy. I don't have any ideas for the next boss aside from another scrap with the wolf, with mid fight dialog mentioning that there was "a good dose of collaboration" on the mechs design, presumably between the wolf and eggman. im out of ideas at the moment from this point on, its another 3 levels and then final boss against eggman, apparently the wolf is dealing with something elsewhere. the ending cutscene would have something along the lines of sonic, shadow, and knuckles coming across a functioning computer mentioning eggmans rough battle plan. he redeveloped his mind control technology from the interstellar amusement park. the facilities self destruct has been engaged, and shadow has been cut off, so sonic and knuckles make their way out of the base while shadow finds his own route. the game ends before anyone is shown exiting the facility, although its implied that sonic and knuckles make it out without issue. post credit scene. a first person cutscene shows someone forcing themselves off of the floor of some sort of robotics lab, with a strange looking robot lying on the work bench on one side of the room. alarms are blaring, and it seems like a bad idea to stick around for too long. the figure lifts himself to a console and starts looking over lines of code, he doesn't remember much but he remembers programming this robot to be a new weapon for eggman. he finds the bit of code hes looking for and rewrites it, making sure that this robot will never be subservient to eggmans will, as well as writing a short message for it when it activates. he uploads the code and message to the robot body, picks it up off of the table, and starts making his way to the rooms exit, while the cutscene fades out. it cuts back in again in a room labeled "emergency evac tubes", with the figure placing the robot into one of the tubes and sending it off to safety. as he moves to get in a tube himself, the door to the room get blasted open, with a shadowy figure standing there. all he can make out if that the newcomer is black, red, and extremely pissed off. the figure charges, and he starts raising his arms to defend himself but gets thrown to the floor and knocked out before he can react. maybe I should start writing short stories in my space time, I sure have a lot of it thanks to current events. I have a vague idea of how I would start a sequel to this, but ill need to work on it a bit more. ill either post it in a reply or a new comment on the next rewritten video. let me know what you all think :)
Perhaps throughout this little journey, Metal will re-evaluate his purpose and life goals... No, he would never give up trying to beat Sonic. I mean he would surpass him not just physically, but as another Sonic. “Anything you can do, I can do better. I’m gonna save the world and rub my glory in your face!”
Metal Sonic ALMOST was in 06 since there's unused text that involves him having missions found in the game which points to him being playable in some part of the story at some point before being scrapped. Also according to a Twitter post Shiro Maekawa posted in 2018 about Sonic Heroes revealed that the team roster they originally started out with was rather different from what we got and Metal was actually as one of the playable characters implying he wasn't planned to be the antagonist from the start.
You: They're not using him to his greatest potential Me: *Side-eyeing the entire Sonic cast* Get it together, Sega-Sonic Team. On an actually related note, what do you think happened to Sonic Heroes' Metal Sonic? He got carried off by Omega and Shadow and we never saw him again.
@Ties de Jong Yeah, if you assume Mania is in the same timeline, Rivals isn't cannon, and Generation to not count considering the circumstances, a real Metal Sonic hasn't appeared in a game in a long while.
I would like to think that if Sega is consistent (let's be honest that's not true) then Metal might return as a good guy, or will have his own game of him escaping. (I'm pushing my non-existent luck)
Here is my idea for a Metal Sonic Game: Dr. Eggman has Metal Sonic search for the Delta Star, an extremely powerful gem that is said to be only rivaled by the Master Emerald, Metal Sonic locates the Delta Star at an ancient ruins, after "slaughtering" thousands of members of the Resistance (now known as the Sonic Forces, as a reference to the game they were introduced in) he ends having to deal with Team Chaotix, Knuckles, Blaze, Silver, Omega, and Shadow, but despite all of their efforts Metal Sonic is able to take them down thanks to the data he collected during his time as Neo Metal Sonic and the modifications Eggman upgraded him with, naturally, Metal finds himself face-to-face with Sonic, and the two engage in an epic battle for the Delta Star, Metal, eventually manages to get Sonic in a weak state, but Sonic uses the Chaos Emeralds to become "Super Sonic" which turns the tables, and he basically just "wrecks" Metal until he uses the Delta Star to power himself up, resulting in Metal Sonic becoming "Ultra Metal Sonic", evening the odds, with that, Super Sonic and Ultra Metal Sonic clash to the death, until Metal, after all this time of one loss after loss, finally defeats Sonic, filled with excitement, Eggman orders Metal to return to the base with the Delta Star, unfortunately, right after he said that, the Delta Star started to massively overload Metal Sonic, causing all his systems to be completely fried as well causing him to start blasting off uncontrollably, ultimately resulting in Eggman losing contact with Metal Sonic, "A creation of mine FINALLY managed to beat that HEDGEHOG, and I end up LOSING IT!", meanwhile, Metal Sonic is having a meltdown, and is blasting off all over the place, after his "freak out" finally blows off, he crash lands on an unknown island that Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Shadow, Silver, Eggman, Metal, or anyone else for that matter were not aware of, eventually Eris, a curious, compassionate, and young leopard, Rotor a helpful, intelligent, and rather small robot, and Jack, a cocky, mischievous, and sometimes selfless gecko end up finding Metal, they ultimately decide to take the robot back home with him (well at least Eris and Rotor, Jack was anything but willing to help), and they fix him up the best they can, although none of them (not even Rotor, despite being a robot) have a clue about robotics so they do relatively bad job, but they at least manage to fix Metal up enough to be able work as well as he did before he used the Delta Star (mostly), while tinkering with him they manage to turn his voice box on allowing him to talk(they also probably did something with his eyes, because after their done fixing him up, Metal's eyes are green instead of red),after Metal Sonic is as close as being repaired as he'll ever get, he is mostly functional while does glitch and break down a bit sometimes, he is still operational, however despite Eris and Rotor's best efforts (Jack didn't help), Metal has gained big time amnesia, and has forgotten everything, Sonic, Eggman, The Chaos Emeralds, all of those humiliating defeats and failures, everything Metal Sonic knew was no more, Eris, Jack, and Rotor think it was all because of their poor repairing skill, while it kind of was, it was mostly because of huge rock stuck in Metal's chest (the Delta Star), since Metal couldn't remember his own name, Eris names him (the player can actually decide what Metals new name is in the game, but the name I though of for him is) Solace, Solace the Robotic Hedgehog, and then after that, the rest of the story is just Met- I mean Solace going on a journey of rediscovery, becoming his own person (separate form Metal Sonic), redemption, finding out more about the Delta Star, and proving he is more than just a "steel-plated faker" with Eris, Jack, and Rotor, of course things get a little more intense once Eggman, Sonic, the Sonic Forces, other sonic characters like Mephiles, Zavok, Black Doom, Chaos, and infinite find Solace and Solace find out about Metal Sonic, oh and one more thing, you'll be able to customize Solace to separate him from Metal Sonic more, more customization options (plus some more powers and abilities for Solace) will be unlocked throughout the game.
I feel like sonic carbon would involve all of metal’s successors (as there are times where a Sonic robot appears after Metal Sonic’s first battle with sonic, no matter where you believe it is in the timeline) with metal ultimately making a choice between staying with the sonic crew and rejoining the eggman empire. That ending with influenced by the player like dc super villains. The canonical ending would of course be Metal Sonic returning to Eggman’s side
I actually have an idea for a Metal Sonic story. It follows Metal forsaking Eggman after he realises that the Doctor has become too idiotic and cocky, treating him as a pet. Metal disproves of this and runs off. He disposes of all hsi weapons, he takes his cloak, changes his name and hits the road. It's just Metal Sonic, now going under the alias Saltor (Klingon Latin for 'Equal') and has nothing to guide him but the wind in his metallic quills and a goal. Prove to Sonic that he is no tin can. Eggman becomes his enemy again, and Sonic his rival, just like old times. However, Eggman has a new character to act as his general. A calm, calculated Wolf, named Markus. A formerly missing member of the Jackal Squad, Markus joined Eggman to learn about his old leader, Infinite, and what happened to him a few years back. (Basically the Avatar from Garrulous's rewrite.)
Sonic Fangame devs should really hire you for ideas! You have so many good ideas for games that never end up getting used in a playable form! Kinda like I am sometimes. I get good ideas for games or animations, but I have no skills in programming and drawing abilities to even bring them to life.
Also in Sonic Rivals 2, after defeating the Ifrit, shadow and Metal did not make it in time to return to their dimension, so he almost destroys himself to rip the chaos emerald Eggman used to contact Shadow when he got the chance.
I think that something that would be perfect for metal sonic is that he can copy your skill at the Sonic games, i mean that he can copy your technique for going fast, or it would be like a better player, with better skill, better technique at going fast.
I've always liked the theory that metal isn't just another badnic... he originated in CD, which had time travel as a major plot point and game mechanic, so the theory was that Metal IS the real Sonic, like he claims in a lot of ancillary and fan made media... Metal is Sonic from the bad future where he lost. This theory made even more sense when put along side the 90s sonic cartoon in which Robotnic had a machine that literally converted living beings into robots, rather than just putting small animals inside the badnics as batteries or processors or something, fully robotising Sonic's uncle Chuck and partially converting one of the supporting characters as well as a mishap when he fought sonic in the lab resulting in Robotnic's left arm getting zapped by the machine. While this theory likely wouldn't fit with what you're pitching here, I think it does have a lot of potential as the main plot, or even a side plot, in a modern style game. How does Robotnic control metal? is he unable to talk, or does he just choose not to? what does he do when that control is removed? how does he react to the gang once he has his free will back? he'd probably be traumatised by what's happened to him and what he's seen, how does that effect the way he reacts to his younger self?
I used to play Metal Sonic Rebooted at night when I was in 8th grade! That's because the music's aspect of the game fits pretty Nostaligicly and I get nostaligic at night sometimes.
Another great rewrite. You really bring out the potential of these characters. If SEGA were to do the same, I don't think people would complain about sonic's dumb friends as often as they do. Fantastic stuff!
Ive always wanted a game or story where Metal Sonic becomes fully sentient and free from Eggmans control. Like lets say Sonic takes down a major Eggman base, which happens to be some sort of server or hub for the Eggman Battle Net (I assume something like this would exist so Eggman could coordinate his forces.) This would mean all of his Badnicks and robots would either shut down, continue their current mission or wander aimlessly. This would mean that Metal Sonic would be free from his control, for the most part. You see, Eggman is a smart guy, so even if Metal Sonic was disconnected, we would have hard coded instructions to destroy sonic. Because Metal Sonic "Knows everything Sonic knows", i would assume he would also have the memorys and emotions of Sonic. With Metal Sonic not being under the influence of Eggman, he would be very confused on his identity and who he is. I bet this could be turned into a very interesting story, maybe something similar could happen in the next episode?
I REALLY hope one of the boss fights in this potential story would be the giant Silver Sonic from the Archie comics. That thing is huge and threatening and it's a disservice that it hasn't appeared in a game. Actually, it would be neat if Metal made comments on other "robot duplicates" too, like Mecha Sonic, or Metal Knuckles or even Tails Doll as a throwaway joke.
I want to explore how the only difference statistically is metalsonic doesnt have friends to turn him into a big beast to fight for. What if he sees this is the only descrepency and in his robot wisdom slowly builds himself into a more sonic-like character, ending up either fighting for eggman and losing because sonic simply has more people backing him up or simply seeing life as is and getting to re-know all sonics friends again since he's based off an younger sonic with better specs keeping upgraded.
if you would allow me to ramble for a minute. if i would develop metal sonics character it would be like this: Metal always had a characteristic that didnt made sense to me, "Iam the real sonic". He would keep saying that but is unthinkable that his AI doesnt realise he is a robot or that he was a robot created to beat sonic. The reason for that is one: Metals AI was so advanced that when he realise he was actually an object created to beat sonic it drive him into an existencial crisis and so the AI created a contradiction, "Iam the real Sonic". By doing so it protected itself from the existencial crisis but it also came with a price. From the time Metal was created not only was given to him all sonic abilities but also abilities to surpress sonic. And yet he is defeated time and time again. the resaon for that is the contradiction. Metal belives he is the real sonic but if he performs worse than sonic that would break the contradiction so that is why he kept coming back to fight time and time again. But this also means that if he would displays abilities far greater than sonic, it would ALSO break the contradiction, so Metal subconscious prevents him from reach his real power. This is it for Metal psych now for his development. Metal would come to accept that he is not the real sonic and finally break free from the contradiction allowing him to fight with all his power. He and Sonic would fight again but for the first time Metal actually wins against sonic. When he is about the give the final blow he just stops. The contradiction was the driving that kept metal figthing sonic. He needed to beat sonic so to prove he was the real sonic and so becoming the existence know as sonic the hedgehog, but because he broke the contradiction, he was able to reach new highs and finally beat sonic. but also made he him realise anothe fact: sonic is sonic and he is he. He was a being different from sonic the hedgehog and even so menage to beat sonic, he was someone that was worth to exist and so it was no longer necessary to kill sonic and take its place. From here then his future could shaped in many ways: he could become another sonic companion or it could bring a second sonic heroes crisis but this time he would be a bigger thread.
As someone who has an entire design document worth of notes on my ideal Metal Sonic game, I just wish we had a rendition of him with a moveset that actually did him justice, a story that properly utilizes him is completely secondary to that Even fan games just make him a slightly different Sonic with moves that don't actually capitalize on his nature very well and barely scratch the surface of what would make him unique Hell, Robo Blast 2 just made him Knuckles without climbing, that's horrible
"He becomes so strong that the only thing that can stop him from assimilating the entire planet is Super Sonic Super Sonic is usually reserved for out-of-control DEITIES If I were Metal I'd be honored" Yup, nailed it.
One thing you _should_ take into account is that there's a discernible difference between the various Sonic copy robots that Eggman had made. The original Silver/Mecha Sonic in the Death Egg in Sonic 2 was a prototype, only having a very basic A.I. and copying two of Sonic's most prominent abilities: his spindash and speed - and even then, he was notably slow, which is probably why he was twice of Sonic's size - both to compensate for his lack of abilities, and because it was still an early prototype. The original Metal Sonic was an altogether different model of a robot - more close to Sonic's proportions, but still, not meant to _fight_ him, but rather, to _race_ him, hence why so much was dedicated to making him fast (streamlined head, where the spikes are just there for aerodynamics, as opposed to Silver Sonic or Mecha Sonic, who both had a spin attack, and used their spikes as weapons, and, of course, the fact that Metal's torso was basically a jet engine), rather than strong, which is exactly why he was smashed to bits when hitting the gate after Sonic. For the longest time, he didn't even have a spin attack. In Sonic 3 & Knuckles, the Mecha Sonic was, once again, taller than Sonic, but this time, it wasn't because of technological constraints - this model was meant to be SUPERIOR to Sonic, when it came to fighting. It still had Silver Sonic's moveset, but enhanced to make him somewhat more maneuverable. And, of course, there was the fact that it could go Super (if only briefly), making it the first ever robot to be able to copy this ability of Sonic and the others. Despite this, it was still defeated by the limitations of it's A.I. and design, which was what probably led Eggman to stop experimenting with the Silver/Mecha designs, and abandoned them in favor of enhancing Metal Sonic, with the prototype we've seen as a hidden Easter egg in Sonic Adventure 2, which may have been put in storage due to problems with it's design, but it shows how that line of robots would've evolved: it now bears a closer resemblance to Sonic in terms of body shape, but it's still larger than him, though, not as much as the two previous iterations. It also still visibly has rockets and wheels for mobility, meaning that it's primary function would've been to fight Sonic in close quarters, with the implications that it covered longer distances via machine guns in his hands (hence why his fingers are cylinders with holes on the end). If I had to wager, this model was mothballed because of the limitations arising from the design compromises in the pursuit of creating a robotic copy that both resembled Sonic, but was also able to beat him - the machine guns in it's arms probably had limited ammunition, meaning they couldn't fulfill their intended role of giving it extra firepower, or covering the distance between it and Sonic, should he decide to flee rather than engage with it. Simply put, Eggman realized that making a robot that _resembles_ Sonic more closely is not the optimal way at making a robot that can _beat_ him, and the compromises made to alleviate the shortcomings of the design are simply unsatisfactory. As for Model No.29/"Rocket Metal"? Beyond being a further example of the "good" doctor's obsession, it might have been something he'd thrown together as a rudimentary outside sentinel/spy robot to guard the Death Egg 2 from space, it's resemblance to Sonic arising from the fact that he used spare parts from Metal to build him. It was most likely only meant to function in space as his design (as that one Off-Panel skit from Archie Comics pointed out) is too top-heavy. Now, as smart as Eggman is (300 IQ), he still obviously has a few screws loose (since he obsessively tried to make a "better" Sonic, as having the organic defeat it's robotic counterpart was basically against his entire world view of technology over nature), because he continued to cram abilities into Metal's newer versions, which would've been beyond the design's capabilities, had he not realized that he won't be able to beef him up without a serious physical re-design (a lesson learned from Knuckles' Chaotix). Most of the new abilities Metal has across the different games (not counting Sonic heroes, where he could basically pull a T-1000) was based around utilizing energy in some way - the "Black Diamond" Shield, the laser beam from his chest, his "overclocking" in lieu of being able to use the chaos emeralds or Master Emeralds to go Super. His design is still based around making him able to keep pace with Sonic, which is why it hasn't seen much physical update beyond scaling him up to Sonic's height as he grew older. A direction you could take in the game is to have him learn to work with, or work around the limitations of his design - if he has a learning A.I. (which, why wouldn't he have?) he would probably be able to learn how to make minute adjustments in his movement that would give him the agility of Sonic on top of his speed, as being a victim of inertia is a common issue with all the Sonic robots. The main enemy for both him and Sonic in the game should be a more upgraded, advanced version of the shelved prototype we've seen in Sonic Adventure 2, as it would be the pinnacle of the Silver/Mecha designs, the competing line of robots. Perhaps, even a synthesis of the two lines, featuring a Metal/Mecha Sonic that resembles Sonic greatly, while having both superior speed and strength (and only being just a touch bigger than him) - something that looks like a mixture of Metal Sonic and Mecha Sonic from Sonic 3 (with maybe Rocket Metal's "ear" design as a shoutout to it, since it is, hands-down, the most aerodynamic design, especially when compared to how the other robots needlessly copy Sonic's ears in a rigid manner, which is completely counter-intuitive when it comes to aerodynamics, AND unnecessary, since the robots would have microphones, not hearing organs that need the enhancement).
Actually, if we follow the chronology, Eggman just limited his AI after what happened during the Sonic Heroes events. A weapon that can betray you isn’t useful.
I thought this was it's very own video... Really cool though! I agree that he deserves more love, at least in being playable. I figure that at the end of the game Metal is either destroyed or ends up going back to Eggman reluctantly, kind of like Rouge towards the end of SA2. I'm also interested in the kind of gameplay. I guess it would go the Classic route and give them both fairly similar base gameplay with their own techniques and such? Maybe make it a story where you can play as either like Sonic Rush Adventure or like the original Rush but have it switch between them, allowing them to play each other's stages later!
I am so glad that the IDW comics gave Metal an actual role. As someone who's first Sonic game was heroes, the fact that we got metal overlord makes me so happy. I just wish we could have him in more games. Atleast I have rewrites to listen to. Especially with this and him being in the 06 rewrite. I'm really getting my fill of Metal Sonic with Garrulous
I gotta say, I love the idea of: Tails: I'm not going to tinker with Metal, I'm not going to tinker with Metal, I'm not going to- wait, why is there a wrench in one of my hands and a metal plate in the other?
I would like to see a complete story coming from you. I also believe you should let programmers transform this into a full fan game with your help. Keep up the great work!
If something like this were to happen, I have a feeling that there's the opportunity to try to retry the thing they tried to do in the Shadow game, give the player multiple options or routes for Metal Sonic to go. if nothing else, hey, more content is good.
I absolutely love Metal Sonic and would faint if he starred in a game. However, I have a theory. Metal Sonic, will not return as a true antagonist and will not have any intention of killing Sonic. In his debut, he was made to beat Sonic in a competition, namely, a race. Not to attack or kill Sonic, no, just to prove simple superiority. He has been reprogrammed a couple of times to actually attack Sonic (Mania, for example). Jump to Heroes, where he is free-willed and free of Eggman's control. What if he went into seclusion to avoid Eggman. His new free-willed self just reverts back to his initial programming of proving Superiority now that he is no longer the insane Neo Metal Sonic. This explains why he appears in the second Rivals (Metal Sonic 3.0 was made by Eggman Nega) and sports/competition based games (Free Riders, the Olympics, and Team Sonic Racing). He will work with Eggman since they both just want to best Sonic in those kinds of games. Any other appearance of him is typically before Heroes (Sonic 4 and Sonic Mania) or not the real him (Classic Metal Sonic in Generations and an illusion in Forces)
I had a dream where I was playing a 3d game as metal sonic, I was battling a giant silver sonic. The graphics reminded me of sonic adventure chunks of raised free way over flood waters. The control style was smooth like sa2. Hitting the jump once then again holding it the second time made him fly through the air at the height of his jump at increasing speed. Silver sonic was standing in the water his spines going like saw blades. I woke up, I blame my quest to ace the sa2 emblems and obsessive love for glitching in SA at the time. Stubborn me permanently opened casinopolis to Amy in the US dreamcast version after others said it wasn't possible. Strangely proud of that. Never recorded it, sadly and have no working Dreamcast anymore.
I wish and hope we get a good metal sonic in the movie? Maybe? But for really I hope they make metal sonic will actually get a good role in something. This is a hot take but i think making him a good guy like at the end of the game/movie he can turn good and possibly sacrifice himself?
In the past I've thought of Metal separating from just a recurring baddie for Sonic to smash to become his own character, and thus would require a new name. (Perhaps he'd get a new frame/body so that he's no longer just a Sonic copy) I would've called him "Steel the Hedgehog", but that's not very creative and I found out recently that was used for Anti-Silver in the comics for some reason. Interested in hearing what you come up with.
I want to see more of this story. I am fan of the metal sonic design (mechas look cool), and always wanted to see more of him. Also, with the movie, I had the feeling that he could be like more of a rival than a villain, with that sacrifice he did, like, it was honorable. So, I really want to see how it would be a timeline where metal turns good. And seeing what you've done before, I'm quite confident that it will be an interesting story. Also, if I had to guess how the story would go, I think it would be a more tragic story that might end up similar to Emerl's story, with him dying in an honorable death defending those who didn't truly trusted him. That would be a somewhat bittersweet ending, like, he was a hero and all, but he's dead. Probably in a way that messed his data, so it couldn't be restored to the point where he was before, but since that's too depressing, maybe it could be like, they repair him and he doesn't remember anything, so they decide to start their friendship from scratch.
Don't forget free riders also I always liked the idea of metal sonic being in 06 could work if he was the one interacting with Elise and instead of a romantic relationship it would be a friendship and that would give metal redemption
I feel like a cool twist could be that metal sonic is actually a sonic from a alternate dimension who was defeated. Eggman has merely hid this truth from metal through programming. It could explain why metal sonic is so powerful and able rival sonics speed continually and it could provide some character.
The story could go like this: >Sonic and Co. fight Eggman. >Eggman deploys Metal. >Sonic and his band defeat Metal. >Wild Eggman runned away. >Sonic and Friends take Metal. >Tails tinkers with him >A week passes >Sonic and the gang come back to the place where they fighted Eggman and find him notably distressed, when Sonic teases him with Metal, he reacts, and starts to show a little of worry and guilt. >Escapes. >Tails asks you rings to give more functionalities to Metal. >You have different endings depending of the level (LV) of Metal at the end of the game. >You fight different robot bosses in each stage, based around Sonic's Friends. >None of them are based around Sonic himself. >At the end, you fight Eggman in a Dragon Egg Mech. >The old robot Sonic&Junkies-Look-Alikes put themselves between you and Eggman. >They are busted by Sonic and the mobians. >They fuse. >>If Metal is LV:0 The boss is relatively easy, and you can use Metal. This would give you the "Emotionless" ending >>If Metal is LV:1 The boss has normal difficulty, and you can't use Metal, but he helps you along the way This would give you the "It's nothing personnel kid" ending >>If Metal is LV:2 The Boss is hard, you can't use Metal and he doesn't help you This would give you the "I'm confused" ending >>If Metal is LV:3 The Boss is a nightmare, and you can ONLY use Metal This would give you the "There can be only one Sonic" ending
Shit something dawned on me. DID SEGA SERIOUSLY FORGET THAT SHADOW AND OMEGA TOOK METAL SONIC AT THE END OF HEROES, I mean Eggman just kind of gets him back in idw which is a huge missed opportunity for Shadow, Omega and Metal to bond as they would all be ex Eggman empire
Yeah that always bothered me. Since Shadow's game is technically a sequel to Heroes Metal is nowhere to be found, has no involvement in the plot, doesn't appear as somebody that follows Shadow in certain missions and Omega or Shadow never mention what the fuck they did with Metal. Also to add insult to injury there's evidence that Metal was supposed to be in 06 as there's unused text found in the game's files saying stuff like missions for him implying he was supposed to a playable main role in the story.......this could have tied up loose ends with Metal's absence in SHTH and explain what exactly Omega and Shadow did with him. But nope they just had to scrap it.

@@Zyl_Libblel yeah but mecha is just a one off thing. Metal was literally created in and out of universe to be a reoccurring rival for sonic.

I have a pretty good ending for your Metal Sonic story.
Metal Sonic, after his adventures with Sonic and co, has learned and experienced so much he's practiacally a different machine from when he served under Eggman. He decides he is his own person, and thus changes his name and gets a new paint job.
After the change, he goes to leave, but not before saying "One more thing Sonic, if our paths cross again, how about a race?"
Sonic agrees, and they part ways.
Theory: Metal Sonic gained the ability to speak when he downloaded Charmy's data
Also, in Metal Sonic Rebooted, overclocked mode only works when you don't have all Chaos Emeralds. When you do transform into it, though, your rings will drain just like your super form, except instead of your super form going away when your ring count goes to 0, you die.
So kinda like Doomsday Zone?

Like if this game happens I really want to see a Metal Sonic vs Metal Sonic fight, ir Metal Sonic vs some other robot that is based of some other character (like Metal Knuckles)
And if that does happen, and Never Let It Go, Look-A-Like (or any OVA song), What I'm Made Of or any other song related to Metal Sonic (his Chaotix or his Sonic 4 theme, a remix of his triple trouble theme, the S3&K final boss theme for Mecha Sonic, etc.) that isn't Stardust Speedway Bad Future JP plays I will be sad. Also do the Shadow Androids count as one of Eggman's robot copies of the other characters?
metal overlord vs super mecha sonic(final boss of sonic 3 knuckles route)
There was a similar story in the Archie comics, the original Metal Sonic (now rebuilt as a new robot called Shard) fought a newer Metal Sonic. What's interesting is the new Metal didn't want to fight Shard when Eggman ordered him to - he immediately wanted to go after the real Sonic. I suppose Eggman didn't tinker enough with his program to override that ingrained rivalry, even in another version of Metal Sonic.

I wonder if Eggman will remake Robo Sonic (I still call him Silver Sonic) and Mecha Sonic to fight Metal
finally man, give my boy what he deserves. really looking forward to this story
Why do i feel that this metal sonic is gonna feel some not so good emotions espically at the end.
I was thinking a threat so big that eggman sends metal to help Sonic, while he makes something with tails that will stop the threat
Love the idea. Metal is one of my most favorite characters of all time.

Add in Johnny in there too. Form sonic rush adventure.
Please make a metal sonic story.
I love all your story videos.Keep up the good work

This whole video resonates with my metallic soul... I had few RPG ideas of Metal Sonic as a boss or a playable character, and even has a key role to play in the scenario I imagined.
Is one of those boss ideas Metal copying a technique from one of your party members?
I have no ideas for the story, but i do for the gameplay of Metal. Why make him play the same, when you can give him unique stages (Kind of like the Avatar in Forces, but it actually means something.)
Full moveset is at the bottem.
Gotta keep some consistency.)
The level starts with Metal landing in the centre, where he scans a boulder blocking the way towards the readings Tails gave him (Eggman.) This would prompt him to find two parts of a blaster, his first upgrade.
Metal Sonic is so underused. You could say he's...
_Underused._
Metal should fight a new version of himself created by eggman
I imagine Metal would make a badass statement before the fight.

the story starts an undetermined amount of time after forces ends, eggman has been quiet for a while now so sonic and co are getting some well deserved R&R, aside from a major cause for concern.
I have a vague idea of how I would start a sequel to this, but ill need to work on it a bit more. ill either post it in a reply or a new comment on the next rewritten video. let me know what you all think :)
i absolutely love metal sonic, this sounds like it would do him fantastically
You: They're not using him to his greatest potential
Me: *Side-eyeing the entire Sonic cast* Get it together, Sega-Sonic Team.
On an actually related note, what do you think happened to Sonic Heroes' Metal Sonic? He got carried off by Omega and Shadow and we never saw him again.
I like to think that eggman just fused the two Metal Sonic together to make Metal stronger
@Ties de Jong wait how do we know that generations takes place before heroes
@@n00bboy43 Generations' Metal is presumably from CD because of the Stardust Speedway setting.
Here is my idea for a Metal Sonic Game:
Dr.
“The data of every compitant being AND CHARMY”
Free bee! Free bee! WHEEEEE!
Metal Sonic is unironically one of my favorite Sonic antagonists, even though he's done so little. I can't to see how the story will be next time
I actually have an idea for a Metal Sonic story.
Bro, thank you, Metal Sonic is my favorite character in this entire franchise. I was going to do my own video on this, but this is perfect!
Also in Sonic Rivals 2, after defeating the Ifrit, shadow and Metal did not make it in time to return to their dimension, so he almost destroys himself to rip the chaos emerald Eggman used to contact Shadow when he got the chance.
A Metal Sonic game needs to be a thing.
His best was in Sonic Heroes
I absolutely love Metal Sonic, I really need more of him.
This. Is. WONDERFUL! Really looking forward to that next video about Metal.
I don't know much about the Sonic franchise, but I really all of these stories that you're writing! ^^
if you would allow me to ramble for a minute.
if i would develop metal sonics character it would be like this:
Metal always had a characteristic that didnt made sense to me, "Iam the real sonic".
As someone who has an entire design document worth of notes on my ideal Metal Sonic game, I just wish we had a rendition of him with a moveset that actually did him justice, a story that properly utilizes him is completely secondary to that
Even fan games just make him a slightly different Sonic with moves that don't actually capitalize on his nature very well and barely scratch the surface of what would make him unique
Hell, Robo Blast 2 just made him Knuckles without climbing, that's horrible
"He becomes so strong that the only thing that can stop him from assimilating the entire planet is Super Sonic
Super Sonic is usually reserved for out-of-control DEITIES
If I were Metal I'd be honored"
Yup, nailed it.
I love metal turning good and getting more character development
All living things KNEEL before your master for anew Spin-Off Game!!!
2:11 - 2:13 The Data of Every Competent Being In The World And Charmy. One of my favorite lines in this video
Metal Sonic Overdrive is the prototype of Metal Sonic Hyperdrive.
I gotta say, I love the idea of:
Tails: I'm not going to tinker with Metal, I'm not going to tinker with Metal, I'm not going to- wait, why is there a wrench in one of my hands and a metal plate in the other?
Just when we needed it most, it was cancelled before it even began…
I would like to see a complete story coming from you. I also believe you should let programmers transform this into a full fan game with your help. Keep up the great work!
I wanna see the story! It sounds epic :D I think the story ya got for Sonic Carbon for Metal Sonic is gonna be AWESOME
If something like this were to happen, I have a feeling that there's the opportunity to try to retry the thing they tried to do in the Shadow game, give the player multiple options or routes for Metal Sonic to go. if nothing else, hey, more content is good.
I've been dying for metal sonic to be a main character for YEARS!
Tails: Im not going to tamper with Metal Sonic
Tails mind: how about I do anyway
Ah yes, my favourite robot sonic
S T E V E
Well done this is Amazing
Don't forget free riders also I always liked the idea of metal sonic being in 06 could work if he was the one interacting with Elise and instead of a romantic relationship it would be a friendship and that would give metal redemption
How is the story coming along, I really want to see it. Metal Sonic deserves so much, but sadly Sega doesn't show him the love he deserves.
He cancelled it sadly
This is a awesome idea, and the only thing I would add in (as a idea) is the other metal/sonic bots that appeared in sonic's past as npc's or bosses!
I feel like a cool twist could be that metal sonic is actually a sonic from a alternate dimension who was defeated. Eggman has merely hid this truth from metal through programming. It could explain why metal sonic is so powerful and able rival sonics speed continually and it could provide some character.
The story could go like this:
>Sonic and Co. fight Eggman.
>Eggman deploys Metal.
>Sonic and his band defeat Metal.
>Wild Eggman runned away.
>Sonic and Friends take Metal.
>Tails tinkers with him
>A week passes
>Sonic and the gang come back to the place where they fighted Eggman and find him notably distressed, when Sonic teases him with Metal, he reacts, and starts to show a little of worry and guilt.
>They fuse.
>>If Metal is LV:0
The boss is relatively easy, and you can use Metal.
This would give you the "Emotionless" ending
>>If Metal is LV:1
The boss has normal difficulty, and you can't use Metal, but he helps you along the way
This would give you the "It's nothing personnel kid" ending
>>If Metal is LV:2
The Boss is hard, you can't use Metal and he doesn't help you
This would give you the "I'm confused" ending
>>If Metal is LV:3
The Boss is a nightmare, and you can ONLY use Metal
This would give you the "There can be only one Sonic" ending
Not a while. 3 years.
Haha, this channel has grew so much since the last time I saw it, good job!
I LOVED hyperdrive, I love that you brought that one up.
Metal Sonic Rebooted is a great fan game. It was actually my first taste of fan games
Metal sonic is one of my favourite characters in sonic, so I think I'd probably love this idea of yours
