Been watching your channel for years, want to thank you for providing a show which helps people, the guy whose computer your rebuilt and us that learn from you, sensei.
It’s always interesting with these prebuilt pc’s from smaller companies and seeing all the corners they cut for the price, lower tier parts, 2nd tier brands, questionable configs, etc. The paper stats can look reasonable, but a closer looks always reveals that “value” can actually cost you quite a lot.
I just love how honest you are about everything you put on RUclips. If I lived around Orlando, and had a PC I couldn’t fix, I’d would definitely hit you up! Great stuff Greg!
As a Tier 2 Desktop Support professional for a Hospital System, I love this series. I love seeing different problems and watching you discover the problem and fix. I can use them in my professional life. Keep up the great work!
Yes it could be something like that or maybe the guy deleted some file Windows needs to boot. It wasn't all gone though because the Windows software could still see that the drive had windows installed on it. If it were me I would have tried startup repair first before reinstalling. I've fixed a couple of windows installs in the past with startup repair though it doesn't always work
This is really freaking awesome! I'm a CIT Major in college in atm and this is fantastic learning material for people in my major! It's pretty easy and simple for me to understand since I grew up taking electronics apart and things but I love topics like these so much! I have this exa lct same skytech gaming pc. Archangel 3.0. I absolutely love it. My 2st gaming pc as well. Their customer service was excellent. When I got it I had ram sticks go bad. They sent me 2x16 instead of 2,x8. So a bit of an upgrade for the hassle. My pc cooler was better from them though. Mine also came with a ryzen 5 5600x and a 3060ti gpu. I've added an aio since I've had it.
Watching through all of these videos brings me back to my high-school days when I went to a local tech school for half the day to get my A+ and Net+ certs. We used to take in computers and fix them for free for people all the time to give us hands on real world experience. Probably the best class I had in high school, it was so fun.
The problem with RGB software, and especially once that need to control the motherboard onboard RGB controller, is that the software would make sense to talk to the CMOS/BIOS hence the the CMOS fail. One last thing that you did not try to do is to restore CMOS default. CMOS usually has the defaults save in a none writable portion of the BIOS.
He mentioned that he did remove the CMOS battery but that did not work. Removing the battery and leaving the chip unpowered for a couple of minutes should reset the CMOS to defaults if the CMOS is functioning.
@@SkyForce6700 in the video he also mentioned resetting cmos was one of the first things he did to troubleshoot. Resetting it should have reset the settings to default.
He replaced the battery with "one he knows I working" he did good work here in short order. One day, it's fixed, and well upgraded. I see no problem here. If it were a car and you were stuck out of town , would you want to wait for a ecm reflash to get figured out? Do you think the mechanic would want to mess with that? That could never go wrong, brick. I've got good resume experience in both fields, this man is doing good work.
He tried a new battery which would reset the BIOS, but he didn't mention trying to reflash the BIOS. It looked like that was an option on the splash screen. Yes, it might have bricked the board, but it was already pretty much there and flashing the BIOS MIGHT save it.
Hey. I might be having a problem related to this. Currently getting five beeps at startup indicating CPU/CMOS failure. Did reset cmos, change battery and update BIOS but the beeps persist. Previous owner had RGB strips installed. Now, I am wondering if the RGB is causing the beeping? Looking for answers as it's quite annoying. Thanks.
Bricked the UEFI probably by a power failure during a BIOS update or managing to apply a wrong BIOS. I've seen people trying to install open source BIOS packages from dubious sources in a mistaken attempt to avoid limits set by manufacturer. I always use a voltage regulating battery backup during BIOS updates (and at all other times too).
Sometimes component replacement can't be avoided and it looks a lot better. Maybe do a rgb or peripherals software recommendation video. Always like the videos and how practical trouble shooting works.
I just became so addicted in this fix or flop series, it helped me a lot about troubleshooting whether it's hardware issue related or a software one. Plus I have a 4tb hdd for storage. it's not good to run everything including the OS on one drive
Gamer's Nexus and LTT both did some reviews and resting of if there is really a difference in gaming load times between Gen 3 and Gen 4 SSD drives and the difference was 1-3 seconds at most. Gen 4 didn't give anymore FPS then Gen 3 did so it's not really worth the upgrade unless you just really need to have Gen 4 for large file transfers and video compression.
Been a long time subscriber before you changed your channel name. Loving this series and the rest of your content. On my own systems that the motherboards do not have POST codes/LEDs or onboard speakers(most don't have these anymore), I connect a 2 wire speaker to listen for beep codes. Only time this doesn't work is if the board has actually failed. Cases used to come with these speakers but I suppose that's too old school. I still find them beneficial and when taking apart old computers, I take them for these situations.
Greg...I LOVE these, man! Why? Because so many of us don't deal with a large volume of PCs. Just our own. That is what makes this series so awesome. Also the level of production that you reach!!! A+++
Ty for all these videos. I can't remember which one but one of your videos helped me revive a old gaming pc. I thought it was dead. But your videos helped me figure it out and now it's running! You, sir, earned my sub, and binge watching all these videos.
I wonder if the issue you had with it not finding the Windows installation could’ve been a CSM issue. I know that MSI boards have it off by default unlike some companies, so if the old install was in Legacy mode, you wouldn’t be able to boot.
After pc not turning on after building last night I’ve been watching abunch of this series today. This is the exact problem I’m having except everything is brand new. I’ve done all the steps you have done here already but don’t have another psu to see if it would be the new battery. The rgb does light up of the logo on the mother board when the 24 pin and 8 pin are plugged in tho which makes me think the battery is fine. It is a rog strix b550f gaming wifi. The box also said amd 5000 ready and after it not working I tried did the flash bois the make sure that wasn’t the problem. A few hours before watching this video I ordered a new motherboard praying that is the problem and return this one.

I think same thing happened to my tomahawk motherboard. I did every test possible without using new parts. - removing cmos - tested ram individually - tested the paper clip - psu test (worked) - tried to operate the components in and out of the case (checked for ground) - checked the CPU for bent pins Checked the motherboard for anything that shorted - test mobo fan and cpu together (worked) This left me pondering as to what the issue would be My guess was either the mobo or the cpu Ordered a mobo since it was out of warranty and i didnt want to RMA my CPU just yet. So i plugged everything together it worked. It was the mobo… but doing the mobo fan and psu test it worked. Weird right? Something wrong with the mobo for some random reason. Just failed after using the pc one night. Hopefully someone finds this helpful.
cheap motherboards like Biostar and ECS are really bad. I had a same problem back then, after 6 months of continuous use, my PC died, and I suspect it was a bad motherboard (it was an ECS brand). I replace it with another motherboard (Gigabyte) and it works again. even 2 years have been passed since I replaced the motherboard, my PC is still working. edit: this comment was written before the Gigabyte PSU fiasco, I realized that Gigabyte is not handling their customers well when it comes to their customer service especially when a "certain media outlet" (I mean Gamers Nexus) calls them out, I guess I will not buy another motherboard from Gigabyte again when my motherboard dies, I will buy from ASUS or MSI instead..
Oh and FYI, when it comes to Ryzen, a bad chipset wouldn't affect the ability to post as the Bios chip connects to the cpu directly (as does Super I/O, LPC) due to Zen's SOC nature.
I'm wondering if the bios was ever updated to support the 3600X... It might boot with a 2600X. For some reason the cheap motherboards fail to reach the bios when a compatible but unsupported CPU is installed.
Greg that was really nice of you to give him that upgrade. That rig looked really nice after you got thru with it. Nice job buddy. This is why I am subscribed to you.
Found out about this channel today, I loved the intention but was surprised you even offered free upgrades (same when you're cleaning someone's PC). That's very kind of you, you clearly didn't have to do that
Hi , My PC is automatically turning on and not posting , I happened when i was installing 3 new rgb fans , the argb header isnt working , any fix for it? The cpu led on the motherboard is lit up also

Watching your videos helped me fix my computer ! I was so stressed out after trying to do some upgrades and thought I ruined my pc!! Bad ass videos man I appreciate ya !
At 12:36: I had a similar problem with my friend's PC. When booting it up, the two Sata drives were detected but I couldn't boot into the SSD. I checked the cables, everything was good so I then typed my problem on the internet. Turns out that after 2 hours of troubleshooting, everything was fine and I only needed to enabled the "CSM" option in the bios. His board was a brand new MSI B550 Gaming Plus. Hope it'll be useful to someone :)
Same, this option is what I missed out when upgrading my system from core 2 quad to 10100f. Reinstalled the Windows 10 (due to UEFI default set instead of CSM)
Great video. Reminded me of a situation I had in 2006 where I borked my bios chip when flashing it. The only place I could find online for a replacement BIOS chip was in Italy (I'm UK based) which at the time I thought was sketchy but it turned up and worked and I was so relieved.
Best series on youtube, you get a video, someone gets their pc fixed and maybe upgraded. This is sucha good way to engage with your community too, and its such a kind thing to do. Keep it up Greg!
Great case! Sky tech gaming build for sure. Fans… not so much. I have a decent psu in my case, and I’ve had no power issues at all…. but those fans flicker all the time, no matter what plug it’s in (for the most part). I need better fans that I can run into my board, these cheap fans don’t come pre setup that way and cable management is iffy with hem
Just wanted to say I enjoy these videos. I had an issue with my system not to long ago, luckily it was still under warranty and got fixed but I continue to watch your videos so if something happens in the future I will give it a shot and try to fix it myself. Also enjoy the cleaning ones, my system is coming up on a deep cleaning soon and it will be my first time doing it. A bit nervous but I think I’ll be alright if I follow your lead. Thanks for the videos dude! Great thing your doing for the community
Really love this series and the PCDC series, they are rather relaxing to watch and listen to, it is especially useful to learn about trouble shooting methods for those of us like myself that aren't super PC Savy, so I deeply thank you for these lovely videos and all of those who help make them possible :)
Good video. One issue that I see is that when someone buys a prebuilt system, it usually contains some bottom of the barrel components, like a "cheap" motherboard. Nice that you put a full size mobo. Those who build their own and know what they are doing, go for much better components, that includes the mobo, SSD, memory and video card. It adds a little cost but you have a much better system.
I love these juicy troubleshooting mysteries. I've had all kinds of things go wrong with my PC (Much less strange and with a particularly obvious source) so I'm fascinated by this stuff.
I have this exact prebuilt lmao, surprisingly not bad and the case RGB is pretty great. I replaced the PSU immediately because it came with a 80+ white thermaltake smartwatts.

Ordered a mobo since it was out of warranty and i didnt want to RMA my CPU just yet.
So i plugged everything together it worked.
It was the mobo… but doing the mobo fan and psu test it worked. Weird right? Something wrong with the mobo for some random reason. Just failed after using the pc one night.
Hopefully someone finds this helpful.
Love the series. As an arcade game technician, this give me more insight to cpu repair that I can use on arcade games. 🤙🏼
cheap motherboards like Biostar and ECS are really bad. I had a same problem back then, after 6 months of continuous use, my PC died, and I suspect it was a bad motherboard (it was an ECS brand). I replace it with another motherboard (Gigabyte) and it works again. even 2 years have been passed since I replaced the motherboard, my PC is still working.
edit: this comment was written before the Gigabyte PSU fiasco, I realized that Gigabyte is not handling their customers well when it comes to their customer service especially when a "certain media outlet" (I mean Gamers Nexus) calls them out, I guess I will not buy another motherboard from Gigabyte again when my motherboard dies, I will buy from ASUS or MSI instead..
me too.. im tired using cheap boards
Think it's really cool that you go thru and fix these PC's. It's a different way to educate myself on the workings of PC components and operation.
Oh and FYI, when it comes to Ryzen, a bad chipset wouldn't affect the ability to post as the Bios chip connects to the cpu directly (as does Super I/O, LPC) due to Zen's SOC nature.
that's what i was wondering as well since there even are some sff ryzen boards without a chipset
Haven't seen a Biostar motherboard in awhile. Glad to know they are still around but it looks like it could be a poor choice.
They now popular for miners
Love this series and the PCDC series. It's a simple concept but people love it. It sets you apart from other PC Tubers as well.
Accidentally deleted System32
Bro your an awesome dude for doing this for people I wish I had the funds to help people out like that!
I bet he didn't have enough RBG fluid when he tried to start it. Now he's blown the welds off his intake manifold on the RAM.
You are doing God’s work man! Fixing, cleaning, cable management, and upgrading people’s rig sometimes. Love your content!
The cpu led on the motherboard is lit up also
I really appreciate these kind of troubleshooting videos
You did a Great Job
Thank you for the Video
I enjoyed the time-lapse of the build and the sped-up audio. Great work as usual.
You are amazing with explaining what you are doing and making it easy for non-tech people to understand, and you are IT so you know how hard that is for us. You deserve the success you have and much more.
Bless you for not only upgrading his RAM which was definitely needed, but his board too. Man dude gonna be happy.
Been binge watching all your videos, great stuff and learning a lot. This video is a lesson, don't just start deleting files if you don't know what they're for,
On to your next video
Greg you're seriously awesome my dude.
Absolutely loving this series, along side the PCDC series! It's really fun and educational to watch. Keep up the videos Greg :)
I love this new playlist you have going. Super educational.
Nice looking viewers build 🙂 loving the series 👌
Thanks for watching!
Watching your videos helped me fix my computer ! I was so stressed out after trying to do some upgrades and thought I ruined my pc!! Bad ass videos man I appreciate ya !
Love these vids. I'm a beginner IT guy and learn a lot from watching this playlist. Keep up the good work bro!
I like this vid for 2 basic reasons: 1. He's recycling stuff he's acquired. 2. He's correcting a half arsed job, one stick of RAM FFS.
Great content Greg. Really enjoy the series.
Nice job, Greg. Love troubleshooting.
I think you are a very good person
you helping your viewers for free ! ( from their side ) and I think this is so amazing keep it up dude 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I love watching these videos. Gives me lots of tips for troubleshooting.
Always great when Greg and Ronald Finger drop videos around the same time. Gave a guy something to watch during my morning coffee.
It's a Biostar board so not surprised
good troubleshooting.....good troubleshooting would be beep codes also...still works
Keep up the multiple series’ you do, different between them but variety is always key. I’ve not known you for long but you still entertain!
I appreciate it! Will do.
I enjoy watching this series :) Thank you for uploading
That MSI board is one of my favorites I've used it for myself as well as other builds. They're wifi board is great too
It's nice to see someone give back. It looks like you enjoy doing it.
Hope you get more different types of problems/errors with different types of hardware. Great series!
Great video man I respect what you do helping these people. God bless
A nice 24pin extension would go a LOOOONG way in this build
awesome motherboard..mine is currently paired with 5600x..overclocks like a beast..
I believe this kind of content I giving us a further look into the troubleshooting process ourselves at home.
And also a closer engagement with your viewers and you.
This is great. Please keep it up and coming for us 💞🙏🏻🥺
I'm a huge fan of the sped up portion at 10:30. wish you'd do more of that :)
Yeah it's kinda Zen somehow haha!
that part could use some music
