  • Tigers starting pitcher Reese Olson sits down with Jason and Dan to discuss his second season in the big leagues. The 24-year-old explains how he earned his “silent assassin” moniker and his reputation as a weight room monster. The guys delve into some pitch sequencing discussion and Reese recounts the development of both his change-up and his slider. Which pitch is his favorite to throw? Also in this episode, we learn why catch partners are significant, why pitchers enjoy golfing and where the typically stoic Reese channels his emotional output.

I was at that start against the white Sox at the end of last year, and you could just feel the way he was pitching, he was gonna get going. Keep it up Reese, ya got a big fan here. The Sox cheered after they got Carpenter out on a throw to third to end the 8th inning and I had to yell “what are you idiots cheering about your losing by ten?” That one’s for Benetti.

What a great young man! I hope he continues to develop into the pitcher he is capable of being. He's almost there!

Best starting pitcher the Tigers have had in many years. Never got the hype of a Mize or Manning or anyone else...Came seemingly out of nowhere to be our best starting pitcher.
As a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan, one who never misses a game (except apple + or other b.s. platforms) I'm fine with a trade package featuring Skubal for solid everyday players. Keep Reese Olsen.

You mean Skubal is the best starting pitcher…lol.

@@Strikeoutsandsecondchances I mean if I was starting a team, I'd take Olsen over Skubal. And I'm fairly certain if you want to root for Skoob next year? He will be with another team.

Reese has a great attitude. Getting emotional on the mound would cause you to lose focus. Great interview

True. He's a great pitcher even though his W/L record doesn't show it

I would absolutely give all my money to have Greenberg go after a “prove it” one year contract to bring Trevor Bauer from the LMB to join Skubal and Olsen. What a starting rotation that would be and Bauer could absolutely mentor the young pitchers as well.
