Would've had a sequel in 2020 or this year if people weren't so quick to hate on this game. Some people just couldn't understand what Mirror's Edge was about.
@@KingShibe Why so mad? I still like Catalyst (I'm actually replaying it right now) but I don't think asking for a game to at least match its 12 year old predecessor is expecting too much. There were too many steps back in the fundamental animations and mechanics to call it a clear improvement. I'd like to see a third game too but I have a feeling the people left at DICE don't fundamentally understand what made Mirror'd Edge special. That was evident in Catalyst and probably won't change in the future... I'm sorry you want to blame others for having opinions instead of being able to see that.
I finished the original game multiple times and it's one of the best games ever created... It's the perfect world of dystopia, just how I see it. The detail, the atmosphere, the music... this fabulous feeling of gliding on the edge of scyscrapers' roofs - this is all done outstanding in this game, and I love it. I'm so happy of the new Mirror's Edge coming. And this trailer is just beautiful.
It's actually kind of sad that EA has developed such a reputation for rushing out anticipated games half finished, so they think they best way to appeal to the consumer is advertising a game as coming "When its ready". Wouldn't be a problem you'd have to deal with, EA, if you weren't such greedy corporate shit stains.
I've played the first Mirror's Edge since the release. I was 8 years old. I swear to god I played the first one from the beginning to the end like 100 times. I still play it today. This game is and was just so fun for me. I also remember the Time Trials DLC + my first 1000 Gamerscore. Ahh, good old days. I watched E3 2013 with my step dad and 14 year old me went full crazy. I even started to fucking cry. My step dad was like: "What the fuck is wrong with you?" I searched almost every day to find more information about the game. Then 3 years later I think was the closed Beta on the PSN Store and I went full crazy again. I searched on the Internet for a code and someone from reddit gave it to me. I've played the beta more than I should. I just fucking loved it so much. In my opinion is Catalyst awesome and I love both games. I grew up with this game and I turn 20 this year and I still play the first one on my old 360 and Catalyst on my Ps4 Pro. I would say it is my all time favourite videogame of all time besides Silent Hill and Bioshock. I hope and pray for a next entry.
Loving the fact that many of the problems the original Mirror's Edge faced where to do with the deadline being so close, yet not enough time etc... Dead End Thrills cover this well in their feature article (If you love Mirror's Edge, you should read it!) So with this game, 'Coming when it's ready'... I hope it really will be ready and give us what the original could not.
THE most underrated game of last gen. I beat it yesterday and wow what a game it is. Fun, addicting, challenging (at least to me :p) As soon as ME2 comes out I'm getting it day one. Games like this deserve the community's support to show developers that not everything is non stop action and that new ideas do have a place in the gaming industry.
***** I don't completely agree with you on that one. A couple of years before the announcement of ME2, EA said that they would most likely not focus on a sequel to ME because the first game didn't sell that good, and would rather focus on the development of BF3 and BF4.
CrazyDrgonRider tbh, what really destroyed it was the open world. I prefer levels like the old one where it is extremely detailed and there is freedom to go to multiple routes to an objective. This "Mirror's Edge" felt like it was spoon feeding you with the horrible "follow the line" runner's vision. I was extremely disappointed as a hardcore ME fan.
I agree. If they were going to have open world at all. They should've just made it a separate mode or something. Because half the levels in this game were tiny little routes you ran while in the open world. Also their world design was terrible, didn't feel open at all it felt like I was just running in a line
Looking forward to seeing what DICE will do with the series now going back and expanding upon the original content with this origin story. Honestly, I'd prefer for this to just be a remake of the first. The more I thought about how bare bones the story was and how we didn't get to see as much expansion on the setting as I'd like, I hope DICE can finally flaunt their narrative muscles in a useful way this time...
Why would you want a remake of the first when there was nothing dramatically wrong with it? There's only one Mirror's Edge game, and I would much rather take a new game over playing the same game 6-7 years later just with updates.
Strong Gust Because as I thought about it, aside from art design, gameplay and SOME of the story, the original Mirror's Edge came off more like an expanded tech demo than a legitimately full fledged game. The story is bare bones at best, we get some mediocre flash animations to tell the story between levels and the depth of gameplay relied more on level design and less on player creativity. This 'reboot' or 'remake' LOOKS like it can add a stronger sense of direction for the game and go for the more hard urban sci-fi the first game apparently WANTED to try but could never fully commit on. And really, there's where a huge criticism of the first game is for me. I love it, love it love it love it, Mirror's Edge is one of my favorite games of all time and I can't help but feel like that the first left on such an obnoxiously blatant cliffhanger that didn't benefit itself in the end, So to know they're going to take another crack at it and make it potentially go from 'good/decent game' to 'amazing/great/complete feeling game' has me quite pleased. That's all I want, I'd rather see the game take another shot at itself than just try and continue where it left off, restricted by what was established in the first title. They're receiving an opportunity to take everything about the first game, overhaul it and make it a more complete experience before attempting to tackle something further along in the 'storyline'.
Phil Irwin That's hardly enough flaws to warrant a remake when there's no other instalments in the series. The first game wasn't trying for an urban scifi theme, it was trying for a realistic futuristic urban theme, which it succeeded at. Mirror's Edge is praised for its atmosphere. They'll get to the cliff-hanger eventually. The point of the new Mirror's Edge game is to explore Faith's origins as the first game did have a mediocre storyline. It's a prequel. It should be more than enough to rectify the problems of the original. This works much better than remaking a game that never even failed to begin with. DICE has made the right move.
And here i am in 2020 still watching this trailer, 7 years ago when this got announced i was a huge fan of Mirror's Edge and almost 13 years old, heh... i remember Faith was my first fictional crush back then lol.
***** Don't hype yourself, the first game was something of a pet project, this has the big-time backing of EA and is being advertised with 'gameplay trailers' which show little actual gameplay and only showcase pre-rendered and heavily scripted cutscenes, so I'd stay skeptical.
+Shane Crotty I just played the beta last week. It comes out in a month and is incredibly "not ready". I'm scared for the success of this game. This one looks like it'll fail and we'll never see Mirror's Edge again.
I really do hope that Solar Fields will be doing the soundtrack for this one, because that made the original Mirrors Edge so much fun to play and solve puzzles.
Azoryo Oh geez, you're one of those "Facebook is going to ruin it" type people... Either you don't know how Facebook works, how the Rift works, or how basic business works. If you knew either, you'd also pretty much know that being bought by Facebook was one of the best things to happen to the Rift since it's Kickstarter campaign.
James Baxter It's amazing for the consumer, and for VR in general. Oculus no longer have to rely on selling dev kits, just to produce enough money to keep building and experimenting with prototypes. Huge amounts of publicity is another massive bonus. It means they can focus on creating a great product, instead of worrying about generating enough capital to keep the company going, and giving everyone a decent salary. It'll also ensure a decent sell price, since they can now sell it at a loss for the first generation, just to garner interest and awareness in the concept. Everyone bitches and whines about Facbeook, yet everyone continue to use it. Most people just don't understand how the privacy settings actually work - that, and people apparently feel they are entitled to a free service, that also has no ads on it. Facebook is the second most visited website in the world, right after Google, clearly they are doing not just something right, but the vast majority right. This is hardly the first major acquisition Facebook has made either. They have made tons, which have all continued to grow and be awesome. Heck, just about a year ago, they purchased Instagram, which has continued to do just fine. And last, Kickstarter isn't an investment platform. The people that are pissed off about it, are butthurt idiots. They put money in to back an idea, to create a product they wanted. That product is being created. They have gotten their dev kits (or whatever equals what they pledged). Kickstarter never was, and (most likely) will never be an investment platform. Oculus don't owe them crap. Not in a legal sense, and not in a moral sense.
Wait a second, in the parts where the guy is drawing the tattoo on her arm, you can hear a voice of a woman singing, maybe it's Faith's mother singing to her when she was younger? (That'd make sense, with the first walkthrought gameplay that was released, where she had those flashbacks)
I remember when this trailer dropped… I was so hyped. Then the game actually released, along with reviews, and suddenly I didn’t care anymore. Played it recently because it was on sale. It’s funny how this was advertised as “in engine footage”. All the cutscenes in the game are pre-rendered and still didn’t look this good. The footage from this trailer only appears at the very end of the game and it feels out of place. Also the soundtrack wasn’t as good as they led it on to be, a far cry from the first game. Having the melody from the first game play during the final level was a great touch though, it almost made me shed a tear and fall love the game up until Plastic starts obnoxiously talking over it, and the game itself just abruptly ended shortly after.
"Coming... when it's ready." Well, it's not. (don't get me wrong, the game is... kinda good? But it feels SOOOOO UNFINISHED. So much potential wasted once again. I really wonder where the 4 years of development all went at the end. *cough* -into Battlefield 1- *cough*

God this trailer had AURA
Ong tho WE NEED A THIRD GAMEE
@@fe4rduck661 THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYIN THE WORLD NEEDS ANOTHER ONE
The music in this trailer is fantastic!
THIS VIDEO WAS 3 YEARS AGO?!? WTF MAN, I FEEL LIKE IT WAS JUST A DAYS AGO
Yah
Its 2020 bro
Some trailers can be watched over and over.
Releasing in early 2016!
Yeah :D but I wish that they Tell us what is the name of the soundtrack :(
Benoski893 oh thanks for the notice now I cant wait
Benoski893 Let's hope they take their time with this beloved game.
Where'd u learn that?
Benoski893 * June 15th 2015 mate just saying
Still gives me shivers, artisticly, and also what DICE's Frostbite engine could've been today, give it to EA to ruin it.
10 years... I remember watching this first, and then playing it and loving it. I am now revisiting it. How fast time flies...
2017 still nothing about that ending song. NO ITS NOT NIGHTPARIS REMIX! IT DOES NOT HAVE THAT DROP!
Night paris doesn't even come close to the drop this has which is a bummer. i love the night paris tho.
IT IS Nightparis remix
Apparently this music sample was made for the trailer and according to some comments I saw online there was no full track ever.
It is 10/12/2016 and despite the release of Catalyst, I am still waiting for this to come out.
Mukar catalyst was a the demo XD
It would be cool to hear this song again on e3!
Mirror's Edge Catalyst is going to be awesome.
It wasnt :'(
deserve another sequel :(
They said it was suppose ti be a trilogy :''''''(
I wonder if anyone's made a version of this song without all the trailer stuff. Such a banger.
still waiting for a 3rd game
I hope and pray for a next entry.
it's both a sad and a sweet story.
I don't want it "when it's ready" - I want it *when it's done*.
I'm really excited for it. Just don't fuck this up by rushing the release again.
The release is in 2016. That is plenty of time for them to finish it.
BjarkeDuDe How do you know when the release date is?
everythinglost123 Rumor. Dice wont comment on rumors, nor will any major triple A title developer.
AndyMAC Sure it's a rumor, but it seems like a pretty legitimate guesstimate. And it is a broad one as well. I am willing to bet that it holds true.
BjarkeDuDe But it holds no referential value whatsoever, obviously
Loving the fact that many of the problems the original Mirror's Edge faced where to do with the deadline being so close, yet not enough time etc...
Dead End Thrills cover this well in their feature article (If you love Mirror's Edge, you should read it!)
So with this game, 'Coming when it's ready'...
1:04 song is in the official OST ? its beatiful >.
"Coming...when it´s ready" Finally! Dice stood up against EA and will not release unfinished products anymore!
Not necessarily. Mirror's Edge is not a front-line, triple-A title like Battlefield, so EA might just not be pushing as hard as it would otherwise.
***** But EA do know that Mirror's Edge is a much loved game so they'll want it out as soon as possible.
TheBudworth Do they really? It's an amazing game, something I'll love more than any FPS, but I don't think EA sees things that way.
***** Well lets hope not
***** I don't completely agree with you on that one. A couple of years before the announcement of ME2, EA said that they would most likely not focus on a sequel to ME because the first game didn't sell that good, and would rather focus on the development of BF3 and BF4.
Plz, Dice. Give is some more content! Almost 6 months ago scince you gave us this piece of awesomness!
plz DICE do not fuck this up. Big big fan here!! can't wait!
I love This franchising. I have the arm tatoo of faith, and i cried on This trailer.
"Coming when it's ready"
I hope that it will be ready.
I really hope...
I still wish they release the music of this trailer.
THEY FUCKED IT UP
yes...
Yeah, the new ME game felt like some cheap open world ubisoft game.
DICE has made the right move.
please come back
And here i am in 2020 still watching this trailer, 7 years ago when this got announced i was a huge fan of Mirror's Edge and almost 13 years old, heh... i remember Faith was my first fictional crush back then lol.
same i love ME since my childhood
"Coming... when it's ready" LOL
DICE has learned their lesson from BF4 lol.
+Shane Crotty Guess it wasn't ready enough lol
***** Don't hype yourself, the first game was something of a pet project, this has the big-time backing of EA and is being advertised with 'gameplay trailers' which show little actual gameplay and only showcase pre-rendered and heavily scripted cutscenes, so I'd stay skeptical.
+Shane Crotty I just played the beta last week. It comes out in a month and is incredibly "not ready". I'm scared for the success of this game. This one looks like it'll fail and we'll never see Mirror's Edge again.
That's a very unpopular opinion you have there,
I swear if they don't put out some news soon, I'm gonna flip.
So Faith is basically a Jet Li/Jason Statham/Bruce Willis/Liam Neeson/Jackie Chan action movie badass now. I ain't even mad.
Extremely Underrated game a shame it never got a PS4Pro/ One X patch would have looked as good as the trailer 10 years ago way to make me feel old.
Still one of the best first person action games out there
This teaser sells a different game than what it actually ended up being haha
Still loved Catalyst
We need a 3rd, well executed game!
I wish they would make a Sequel to the original game
I really do hope that Solar Fields will be doing the soundtrack for this one, because that made the original Mirrors Edge so much fun to play and solve puzzles.
These graphics on the trailer are ridiculous. xD You can even seen the grime on the tattooists fingernails. Like shit man. Amazing.
PLS DICE JUST GIVE US A NEW GAMEPLAY OR SCREENSHOT. I can't wait to play this game :3.
I hope it releases with native Rift support!
Well that was before facebook bought it...
This would be AMAZING on Oculus Rift
One of the few Video Game characters I wish was real. In love with the genre
2013 - 2016 FeelsBadMan
No! FeelsGoodMan because this time they really take their time!
Its not even IN GAME footage
still here
Music at 0:57 IS AWESOME!!! We want soundtrack right now! ;)
Hope we see more at E3 2014 about Mirros's Edge
Holy shit, it's been 4 years since I first saw this trailer.
Holy shit, it's been 4 years since you wrote that comment.
@@Rhodochrone don't give me existential dread now

ruclips.net/video/07vfdj6JTnc/видео.html
it never been released
Ugh just put out pre-orders! I don't care when it is ready, i just want to claim one!
Facts
The game really does look as amazing as in this trailer tho, it's still one of the best-looking games on the market Imo.
Loving the combat/martial art animations. ME1 had barely any variety when it came to the combat, hoping ME2 has awesome combat like in this trailer!
"Coming... when it's ready."
Well, it's not.
(don't get me wrong, the game is... kinda good? But it feels SOOOOO UNFINISHED. So much potential wasted once again. I really wonder where the 4 years of development all went at the end. *cough* -into Battlefield 1- *cough*
The story ends so suddenly, felt super rushed. It was a good build up from the first game, mechanics wise; but failed to hold up the hype.
I KNOW! I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED WHY DID IT HAVE TO SUCK
Tripa Coffeenator
What TRIGGERS me the most is the fact that there is a skill tree. I HAVE TO UNLOCK THE ROLL AND THE QUICK 180 TURN!?!?! fucking bullshit
Light Kikib I totally agree. But the other part of me is just glad that I can relive one of my fav games with this gen
wow i cried. i really need this game to be released. The graphics, the song........ feels.
DICE I"M BEGGING YOU, Please just give us a screenshot or a new trailer or a gameplay video. Please DICE, I dont give a damn about Battlefield 4. Just give us a gameplay or a screenshot.
Man, 10 years later and this still hits hard. The game was great imo, poorly received unfortunately. I liked it for what it was but I can also agree on the flaws it has. I will never forget the nostalgia and hype I've had for this game. To me it was worth the wait playing it in 2016.
Just like someone said below, this MUST have solar fields soundtrack! I mean, at least 60% of the game's atmosphere was that immersive thanks to it's soundtrack. It just wouldn't be mirror's edge without it, kinda.
Totally man, the soundtrack was AT LEAST 60% of the atmosphere for me. I still listen to it regularly on Spotify. The best game soundtrack ever.
Basically this comment
Although I'd be happy with something new if it were good/fits.
True say bro. We'l have to wait and see I guess
First game where the teaser got more hype than the game itself XD

no problem)
***** wtf are you talking about ?
Dominic Adamson what the fuck is that ?
Can't wait! Hope EA doesn't rush this one like their other games.
james Parker
Doesn't mean they won't get sidetracked or anything. Also that hasn't been confirmed, that just came from a random website. It could come out THIS year for all we know.
It's DICE for fuck sake. Don't give EA any credit
.
Andreas Jansson
You misunderstand. I love DICE. I trust DICE. I'm scared EA is going to screw it up. Remember Battlefield 4?
I’m 21 years old. When they announced this game I had just turned 11. Ya know when this game came out it was just 2 days before I turned 14. It was summer break and I had just finished 8th grade a couple weeks prior. I spent a lot of summer break playing this game. I wasn’t even in high school yet when this game came out. Almost 5 in the morning and I have work later today, and here I am laying down watching this.
It's been 6 years and all we have gotten was 9 maps for time trials in the original as a dlc and a trailer for the prequel/reboot game that only lasted a minute! :( come on Dice, I want this game already!
They need to take their time to make the game, like in the end of the trailer, it will come out when it's ready.
Veltra111 Well, you can always download the Overtime mod, which bring one more map and is excellent. (But pretty short though)
Frédéric Derauld
mod it bros
aww, that looks like the ME1 city to me.
Come onn, release some news on this game, I have the Mirrors Edge page set as my home screen and I never see anything new! We need updates! Stupid BF4 halted production of this game is the last I heard.
BF4 halted the production of this and Battlefront most likely. Hopefully both games get back on track soon.
It's coming when it's ready! Don't worry, it will be awesome!
Well some rumors came out a few days ago. It's something I guess.
any idea what the system requirements will be to max out the game at 1080p?
and if it will be using PhysX or TressFX?
TressFX probably. Mirror's Edge (as well as all Frostbite 3 games) is an AMD Gaming Evolved title.
Repulsion Gel tressfx is ugly.
nxul compared to tressFX 2.0 it is :P
If it's fps then no point for tressFX...waste of resources.
d1jal it will change in tressFX 2.0 too
The first mirror's edge was hands down the most amazing game I've ever played. This is exactly what everyone has been waiting for. I always wanted to know more about faith and I bet they will not disappoint with this game. If EA manages to mess this up I would be surprised.
