I'm probably gonna sound so silly when I say this but I really want to thank you all for the amazing comments you put on this video. I'm related to Pete and I'm seriously honoured to be from his family, you come to Swansea and ask if anyone knows about this band and they look at you clueless. I've done it so many times and only one person knew who they were. It makes me so happy reading the comments from all over the world so yeah, thank you all x
One of the finest songs of the 1970's... Produced by George Harrison, who along with Pete Ham, played slide on the original recording. Leon Russell contributed the song's piano track. Trivia note: the Gibson SG guitar played by Pete was originally George's, who used it prominently on "Revolver" and "The White Album", as well as the killer solo on "Hey Bulldog". It was a gift to Pete in 1970, who used it until the end of his life in 1975.
I rather loop back in time to the 70's era , no internet . or cable, landline phones . Gas a dollar or less , if you smoked , for 40 cents a pack, buy3-4 big bags of groceries for under $20 No times weren't a lot better still hard , but least the world seemed smaller back then , music was for all to hear Rock , jazz, Motown , and pop music as this song as this had heart and soul as We still listened to the FM radio . Whenever I listen to a song like this always enlightens Me an takes Me back to that certain place
sally rickerson Hello Sally , yes it does ,mid seventies . A lot of friends who I lost over the years . There used to be a lot of free outside concerts with most of the local bands I saw .Lynyrd Skynrd I saw the original band in 1975, .
Miss this band so much...but they will always be with us in song and spirit. That is Long after these corporate greed-mongerers are dead and buried, the greatness of "Badfinger" shall live on! Every time I hear their music, I am transported back to a simpler time...kinder and gentler by to-day's standards even though there was and will always be evil lurking in the shadows somewhere. Heaven does not need the Corporate Hall of Fame to declare its greatness-- neither do heavenly beings.
I was a preteen when their songs came out. They touched my soul. What is very ironic is that when I went through a very tough time and was considering suicide I knew I wouldn't be able to hear their music. They played a huge part of keeping me here for my loved ones which include 3 little grandchildren. There is a place for these guys in heaven and a place in hell for the people who destroyed their souls. Thank you for sharing this incredible memory!
I have just gone mad about Badfinger at 65!!! I missed them on Top of the Pop's here in the UK even though i was an avid watcher?? Thank God for all the people who put out all the videos of them back then. I have managed to buy some of their vinyls and subscribed to the "Club". I had to get their story on hubby's Kindle and how sad it is. Such AMAZING TALENT when Pete & Tom wrote together. They've got me hooked now, have to listen to them every day.😘😘💞💞
At least there are still a lot of us who realize and remember just how fantastic Badfinger's music was. Look at this one song... nearly a million views.
One of the best songs ever meant for eternity. Any person who has had the oppprtunity of listening to this song has been enriched beyond measure because he/she can sense his soul. Pete Ham cannot be honoured enough for his fantastic contribution to making life beautiful.
This song is a timeless masterpiece ! ! Badfinger was one of the best bands ever. Their songs hold up to the test of time. I had been waiting for this version clip for years. This made my day ! Thanks for posting.
1972, 13 years old, 7th grade and a magical soundtrack: sigh. I miss my 13 year old self and the musicians, singers, rock groups, song writers of that day. Oh and cute men in shag haircuts with such sexy clothes.
I think the cassettes were in late seventies. But it's been a while too. Can't remember.I was talking to my older brother a week ago about those old rotary dial phones and how long it would take to call someone.Kids now days think it's amazing that in our day we only had to dial 5 digits to call locally.Yea.I thought push button phones and cordless phones was really something.
Banc_of_Armenia I got a Panasonic AM/FM cassette recorder/player for Christmas 1972. I loved that player. You could literally hear it 2 blocks away, clearly on high volume without blowing the speaker. I made my own tapes from the radio. Cut down on having to buy 45s after that. It last for years. One of the best Christmas presents I ever got.
Ah,those were the days. And if I remember right it didn't break your bank either to buy some new electronic gadget.I remember buying a portable Short Wave radio back in the seventies.I just liked listening to the unusual sounds over the air waves.
I have this in my record collection along with No Matter What and Come and Get It.Who knows what Badfinger could have achieved if Pete and Tom had been with us longer. Two sensitive men who were just too good for this world. Amazing songs they have written, including Without You.
Pete Ham and Badfinger Burton Cummings and the Guess Who . Two of the best live bands in their day. Both bands had a hell of a run and could bring their music and sound to any stage in concert .
I love how nearly all of the live Badfinger videos up are _actually_ them performing uh . . live. Raw, imperfectly perfect, laughing, goofing, and spontaneous. Nothing is ever better than authentic and real. [Yes they were great, but there is greatness today too, don't be a retro grouch! 🙃]
makes me sad every time I play this song what happened to this great, talented band they should have been the next beatles the tragedy of PETE @ TOM was so so sad I am sure they would have been one of the greatest bands ever had they lived R.I.P. PETE @ TOM we will always miss you THANKS FOR YOUR MUSIC.
23theseeker in20 yrs. nobody will even know they existed... except people who follow Old things... that's the way the world spins.. they will remember Madonna,or dopey Gaga but not bands like this
I wish I could go back in time and find Pete and Tom right before they hung themselves, and give them whatever money they needed to stay afloat. Pay off bills..etc. I wouldn't want anything in return except more music. It was their crooked manager Stan Polly who was involved with the mob, and took all of Badfinger's money. In Pete's suicide letter he pointed to Stan Polley for his financial ruin and suicide.
I really don't want to imagine a world without this song in it...it's just so good; it trancends music and speaks directly to your heart, and makes it stronger. Note to musicians and potential musicians: this is the goal! Remember we do it to make people feel the way this song makes you feel, not for the money. That's never guaranteed, as our boy Pete here proves. Because if anyone deserved to get paid for their tunes it would have been him. but I guess not even god could put a price on this.
They do exist but unfortunately they are not getting he exposure, support or developing the fan base that they need to continue. Check out the Kavanaghs a group from Argentina that are continuing the legacy of groups like Badfinger, the Beatles, The Raspberries that wrote real songs an are real musicians, not some dressed up studio cloans. www.dscape.us/the-kavanaghs.html
Amazing. I actually think this performance is even better than the recording. You don't find that too often, at least in performances that have survived. A real treasure.
These live videos are so precious...Bad Finger is alive and well. Musicians are eternal. This group was so strongly influenced by George Harrison and when he died not only did I listen to The Beatles A to Z all weekend I also listened to Badfinger. In rememberance to these fine musicians!
The great songs sung with so much love and beauty from Pete and Tom...Pete had the most amazingly beautiful voice,,he still brings tears to my eyes are after all these years and seeing how their manager destroyed his life pains me."Take It All " stands up along with Golden Slumbers as a powerhouse vocal and it seems to address the rip offs before Pete ever really believed they were being ripped off . His trustful innocence is a big part of what made his songs so powerful and beautiful.
pete ham and badfinger made this for all time for all of us to enjoy for eternity, not every band can make songs like this,,,,,,,, just awesome songwrighting by an awesome band, miss you guys
This song reminds me of hippie days, living in a deep canyon of the San Andrea Fault in the Santa Cruz Mountains in 1972. I'd open my cabin's windows, crank-up the volume of my stereo, and hike the steep mountain forest listening to the music echoing throughout the canyon Redwoods for all my hippie neighbors! It was good to be home after Army days abroad, listening to the only clear FM radio stations (KOME, San Jose and KSAN, San Francisco) that penetrated Stevens Canyon, playing the best Rock-and-Roll in the nation back then!
@TheRandomnesssssssss I'm a 51 year old drummer from Akron, Ohio, and have been a Badfinger fan from the very beginning my friend!!! :) I remember going down to the local covenient store, before they were called convenient stores... Lol after saving my allowance (from about ages 6 and up) and buying Beatles and Badfinger 45's (that's vinal records for you younger tikes) and it was a magical time EVERYTIME I put stylus to vinal, and remains magical to this day... when I hit 'Play'! Peace :)
I remember this song my mom and dad would always have their radio on loud in the car. I was only a second grader and my sister was a first grader but i can still remember those songs. I love Badfinger music all their music was the best.
I remember the 70's with such fondness ! I was 14 yrs. old in 72 , my whole life was ahead of me & I couldn't wait to get started. I loved all the Bands and music of the 70's early 80's. If you listened to the radio you heard music from all types. The cassettes, record players, bell bottoms, shag hair cuts, late nights listening to far away radio stations. I'd gladly go back there now. I got married in 77' life was sweeter then, so was the music !
Badfinger was one of the bands that marked the mine and always will be in my best memories! Pete Ham and Tom Evans, God bless you wherever you are and thanks for those songs that go through the time and delight many generations! Thanks to Joey and Mike, too. Badfinger, a band to remember! A band forever! Tatato - Brasil
@TheRandomnesssssssss Related to Pete? ! I'm from Australia and have loved Badfinger, and especially Pete's very special gift as brilliant songwriter, and emotional singer, for a long, long time! I love the Guys and it will always be an honour to know anyone who is in anyway related:) George
I remember as a teen, listening to their songs and thinking how much they sounded like the Beatles. It was very sad to hear about what their management did to them. These guys had genuine talent.
I haven't looked at this for some time. I just realized how well I remembered almost every note and beat when I heard the drums. What a pleasure it was to see the instrument being played ... exactly as on my old (worn out) 45. Thanks so much for this upload.
Very seldom do you see a drummer playing left-handed kits anymore. Very awesome. Badfinger is great and their sound resembles the Beatles to an extent. This song sounds like something George Harrison would sing. Very underrated band.
How lucky we are to have his music for all time........This had to define music and how good it was and will always be....Not many could hold a candle to him.....He will always be one of the best musicians ever......Dave
Absolutely one of the most underrated bands of all time....Pete Ham was a genius....no telling what he could have done if he were still around.....they got screwed, and were basically penniless...even in their heyday....believe it or not....just a sad sad story....they belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame NOW...
I'm always impressed with how good they sounded live with every song I've seen them do. I'd have thought this song would have sounded empty without the piano, but they pulled it off remarkably well. Great band! I'm also a fan of red SG's and they gave me a double shot here.
I grew up on this music when I was in elementary school. Haven't heard it much over the years. Somehow I stumbled on Badfinger again this past week. I knew 2 of their members committed suicide but not the circumstances. Wow - what a bummer and big loss of 2 talented men who died way too young. Sometimes people can really suck at what they do to others.
Much respect. Let it be known to all that this band, although not wealthy in life, brings the inspiration and musical wealth to all, especially performing musicians.
Heard this song on the radio this morning and I just HAD to find out who they were. The only thing I could catch was...BAD... So I immediately had the assumption that it was none other than...BAD COMPANY! Still...this song (which I've heard many times before) is as gripping, moving and beautiful as for instance "REMINISCING" by THE LITTLE RIVER BAND. What better way than to close the day, after a hard day's work, and to listen to one of these timeless songs on the radio. Rock on...
hello badfinger fans,I am glad to see such a great response to this unique band, most letters are from new fans, original fans dont seem to write as much,I picked up a rolling stone in,say april 1975 and there was a small artical about peter ham and what happened,it said he hanged himself and later on another member did the same, when I bought the no dice in 1970 and heard without you I said to myself this would make a great ballad, then neilson did it,their drummer was very good, very tight band
There is another video about them and they are all walking in a field.............amazing......footage...amazing...these band members was so dam handsome....
This song is dedicated to my late cousin Abderahman Abbarani , we call him utoh ullong, the first HIPPY in the family, I was in grade school when I first heard this song played in phonogram in 45 vinyl records. Rest in peace utoh, we will miss you, give my regards to all our family faithfully departed but not forgotten.
Steffan Pila My favorite live version of "Day After Day" by Badfinger. Pete Ham's vocals is tight and powerful with raw emotion. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also was 13 in 1972 when my whole world changed with this song among a few others. You can't really put into feelings when that lightning bolt called rock and roll hits you as a teenager. Badfinger and Raspberries hit me in the solar plexus and crotch with their power pop and winsome vocals. Loved it then and love it now.
These guys should all be alive and should all be millionaires.
I think Badfinger are THE MOST underrated band ever. They deserve more credit than what they're given.
you dont see this type of great performing artists anymore. they truly belong in the rock & roll hall of fame without any doubt.
One of the finest songs of the 1970's...
Produced by George Harrison, who along with Pete Ham, played slide on the original recording. Leon Russell contributed the song's piano track.

It was a gift to Pete in 1970, who used it until the end of his life in 1975.
Pete Hamm always gave a flawless performance. Gone to soon and so very sad.
NYC girl good night Pete, sleep well

+Dan Reese Hi Dan~ I just wrote about the seventies about the song "Free bird". The same feelings as you have. Rock on and Peace.

Cheers!

I would love to go back to that time. Yes, the World did seem smaller. I am with ya! Peace.
Miss this band so much...but they will always be with us in song and spirit. That is Long after these corporate greed-mongerers are dead and buried, the greatness of "Badfinger" shall live on!

Excellent song, excellent live performance - WITHOUT Autotune and lip syncing.
RIP Pete Ham, Tom Evans, and Mike Gibbons. What a great band!
Perhaps one of the most sadly sweet songs ever written.
I was a preteen when their songs came out. They touched my soul. What is very ironic is that when I went through a very tough time and was considering suicide I knew I wouldn't be able to hear their music. Pete Ham cannot be honoured enough for his fantastic contribution to making life beautiful.
11 years old the 70's had THE BEST MUSIC....We were lucky to have lived in the 70's!
A true rendition of a classic. These guys had so much talent and so much tragedy. Miss them.
This song is a timeless masterpiece ! ! Badfinger was one of the best bands ever. Their songs hold up to the test of time.
I had been waiting for this version clip for years. This made my day ! Thanks for posting.
I'll never know why this band isn't recognized for it's greatness. Amazing, amazing sound!
1972, 13 years old, 7th grade and a magical soundtrack: sigh. I miss my 13 year old self and the musicians, singers, rock groups, song writers of that day. Oh and cute men in shag haircuts with such sexy clothes.
I was 14.Miss those days now.Didn't have the new techie stuff we do now but times were much better I think.
Banc_of_Armenia
We had our own new techie stuff like am/fm cassette recorder/players, push button phones were spreading over most of the nation. : )

Pete Ham and Badfinger Burton Cummings and the Guess Who . Two of the best live bands in their day. Both bands had a hell of a run and could bring their music and sound to any stage in concert .
Mike's drumming really drives the band on this stripped down version. Very underrated drummer. And Pete's slide solo is perfect!
Remembering Tom on what would have been his 67th birthday. R.I.P. Tom and Pete.
Epic,superlative...doesn't get much better than this....R.I.P. Pete Ham,your musical genius has not been forgotten......
I saw them at the Okeefe center in Toronto Canada in 1972 .Fab band will always remember them

That's because they killed themselves
True. But there are still some INCREDIBLE ones
Dry the River
Great Lake Swimmers
Fleet Foxes
Father John Misty
Agreed! I love Great Lake Swimmers & Fleet Foxes. Will have to check out the others you mention here...
Not many like Badfinger existed *then*, either. Their mix of rock and lyricism was distinctive, and they deserved far better than what they got.
Raw, excellent beauty. Brilliant talent in a beautiful song. Badfinger and Pete Ham are in a class by themselves.
Amazing. I actually think this performance is even better than the recording. You don't find that too often, at least in performances that have survived. A real treasure.
Love this song one of the most underated underprivelaged rock pop artists in history really.
Love this song. To be 12 years old with this music to listen to.
kristi schrittwieser to be 21 and hear it!!! even better
Badfinger war und ist für mich eine fantastische Group....👍👍🎵🎼🎶🎤🎸
petra scheiblich genau

I'm 37, and damn this is great music. love Badfinger.
Awesome. Just as beautiful as it was watching & hearing them live in Carnegie Hall in March 1972.
WileERobby wow, how lucky!
I miss the music that touches your soul.
''
I just love the ambient sound they captured. It really illustrates the talent these guys have.
Day after day - takes me back to my teen ages! Love it.
pete ham and badfinger made this for all time for all of us to enjoy for eternity, not every band can make songs like this,,,,,,,, just awesome songwrighting by an awesome band, miss you guys
Ive heard their music for years......but this is the first time seeing a live performance. The talent is real. Perfect harmonies. No auto tune here.
Have only just checked out live performances of ALL their hits and it was the harmonies that stood out! Great comment Camille.
One of my all time favorite songs. The sound of the drums is amazing!
Truly an awesome band. Great music, great artist and will forever been missed.
Peace :)
This is the best live version I have heard. RIP Pete.

I remember this song my mom and dad would always have their radio on loud in the car. I was only a second grader and my sister was a first grader but i can still remember those songs. I love Badfinger music all their music was the best.
My God What a startlingly good rendition!!!
Awesome band- thank you Badfinger!!!!!!!!!!
I was two years out of the service (24). This takes me back to a pretty magical time. Oh, the memories.
Man so depressing how terribly unlucky they were.
Day After Day Badfinger Live ! 1972 A beautiful song , Nice audio !!!!
We from back then remember these guys. They are a part of our past and our memories after all. Thanks.
Great job by a great band. RIP Pete and Tom.

All these Badfinger performances need to come out on DVD. what gems!!!
I haven't looked at this for some time. I just realized how well I remembered almost every note and beat when I heard the drums. What a pleasure it was to see the instrument being played ... exactly as on my old (worn out) 45.

I just adore these guys.
I wish I could compose songs even half as good as them.
Too amazing.

What it takes is a great songwriter. Rest my friend, Pete Ham. You went far too soon. You and Tom sure had a great band.
Truly the best. Their songs will live forever and their talents will never be forgotten.

Amen to that
I remember this song from very late in 1971, do other music lovers agree??
Much respect. Let it be known to all that this band, although not wealthy in life, brings the inspiration and musical wealth to all, especially performing musicians.
Musical perfection! I love this song like no other. Just pure joy. Love you Pete!!!
And, keep rockin up there in heaven Mr. Ham. R.I.P.
Absolutely the best version of this tune. Nothing comes close today!

beautiful as for instance "REMINISCING"
by THE LITTLE RIVER BAND.
What better way than to close the day,
after a hard day's work, and to listen to
one of these timeless songs on the radio.
Rock on...
Pete Ham, simply genius! Fantastic band! It is a shame
bad managements blown it away! They sure have their place in the rock&roll history!
hello badfinger fans,I am glad to see such a great response to this unique band, most letters are from new fans, original fans dont seem to write as much,I picked up a rolling stone in,say april 1975 and there was a small artical about peter ham and what happened,it said he hanged himself and later on another member did the same, when I bought the no dice in 1970 and heard without you I said to myself this would make a great ballad, then neilson did it,their drummer was very good, very tight band
Marcou uma época muito boa!! Amo..ouvir👍🏼👏👏👏👏
Badfinger..... you are one of the Best to come by this Century. Live on.........beautiful memories n great meaningful lyrics
Great job! Appreciate the live performance...pulled it off without the piano!
Great live performance by these guys, I still remember rocking to this back then, and I am lucky to be alive!!! Thanks for posting for all to enjoy!!!

Michele Hatchard do u believe in magic?!🎩

My favorite live version of "Day After Day" by Badfinger. Pete Ham's vocals is tight and powerful with raw emotion. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Timeless classic.
Also was 13 in 1972 when my whole world changed with this song among a few others.
You can't really put into feelings when that lightning bolt called rock and roll hits you as a teenager.
Badfinger and Raspberries hit me in the solar plexus and crotch with their power pop and winsome vocals.
Loved it then and love it now.
these are the best years of our lives, remember them very well......................I must be old now then ..........fuckit.
U inspired me and helped me cope w th world... Great Gratitude 4 All U Gave and Give...
Wish music today, would be influenced by this beautiful, heart felt music.
Maybe as I approach 60 years old I should share all the songs I wrote in the 70's and did nothing with them.
I wish I could give that comment 1000 thumbs up!
Go to Hollywd knock on doors. Just a slight bigger sound added to them. Uses you treasure that old sound. Enjoy perform them in your town
Unless you " treasure them".
