Of all the fun things that happened at Guitar House, Jason reviewing my Jaguar has to be on of my favorites. It's a bit nerve-wracking to be on the other side of a review, but given how enthusiastic Jason and everyone else was about it, I felt confident my trusty '63 necked Guitar Mill sparkle Jag would pass with flying colors.
We saved watching the review for this very purpose, and look! I convinced Charissa to join in the fun too.

You are and always shall be one of my best friends! Dude, I love you and that Jaguar is the best Jaguar I've had the honor of playing.
please tell me you said the first sentece in a Spock voice.
@@malfunction5448 of course!!! Maybe Tuvoks voice. But I’d love to do an episode where Mike and I do a review as Spock and Kirk.
@@JasonTMays Make it so!
And whoever thought that Mike and Jason would Klingon to each other?
@@esimms1889this is tucked away on a niche corner of the internet, just wanted to let you know I see you; well done friend 👌
I always love seeing creators with their spouse. The way she reacts to your jokes, you can tell she still gets a kick out of you 🥰
Legit one of the best parts of being married. My wife is probably the only person who thinks I'm funny, but that's good enough for me. 😂
It still blows me away that Fender hasn’t hired you already to be in charge of offsets. Make it happen, Fender!
Seriously, the offsets that could be made with Mike’s guidance and thoughtful considerations would be amazing
This is such wholesome content, I absolutely love watching creative people find other creators with a mutual respect for each other.
I think we are always our biggest critics, so when someone that you really respect has the same level of respect for you it can be hard to believe, but I truly think you and Jason are both just genuinely great dudes making good content. Cheers to you both!
*THIS IS THE BEST*
thank you so much for making this, and we cherish our friendship!
glad you loved the review, and we love you too!

...also don't forget to water your plants.
You know, Fender is just releasing this coming week a model that has been a special run in Europe since this past January. It's a Silver Sparkle Classic Vibe 60s Jaguar, and it looks a lot like yours but has a matching headstock! It will be available only at Chicago Music Exchange in the States.
I've so enjoyed watching you go from writing great articles to making video content. Your vids are always well made and super informative. And fun! You are truly the offset whisperer my man!
John, this is lovely. Thanks for sticking with me all these years
I'm looking forward to the "String Gauge Saturdays with Charissa" series!
Hopefully she won't be too busy with "Fret Wire Fridays"
"Like pickups? Welcome to Winding Wednesdays!"
**party air horn sound** "Youuuu know what that sound means!! It's Switchcraft Sunday!"
"Another week, another upload! Grab your coffee and get hyped for Mastery Monday with Charissa!"
~**boing doing digglediggle doinggg**~ "What's up, my chicken pickers! It's Tele-Talk Twang Tuesday! Like and subscriibeeee!!" ~**boing doing doing wingle doingle wangggg**~
The Jeff Tweedy autobiography on the side table: that's a terrific book!
Also, Jason is right: that jaguar rules.
I read it three times in the last two years. One of my favorite books of all time!
Today at Puisheen's: A coke bottle Jaguar, 24 inch scale rants, and a wife taken as hostage!
Edit: Also, I'd love to see your Squier bass VI on the channel again, Mike! Out of all the offsets, I haven't seen you talk about bass VIs as of late!
This was a delight, you two are wonderful, and Carissa is a TREASURE. Much love to you both! ✌️😌🎸
I loved this watching together with your wife haha the commentary is gold! ❤️ you’re amazing buddy
Great looking guitar.! Enjoyed this video and the smiles....they were the game changer! What a wonderful vibe you two have together....may you never thirst!
Great vibes watching this. Thanks, Mike!
Two of my favorite guitar channels🤘🖖
Thank you for making these offset videos. I have enjoyed every one that I’ve seen. Also, props to your wife for making this with you, she obviously appreciates your passion.
I would TOTALLY take a lefty sig version of this Jag!
Props to your wife... mine would have checked out in the first minute!
What's great is jut from being around me for over a decade, she's picked up enough guitar repair concepts that when we're at shows, she often identifies issues!
@@Puisheen That's cool. My wife loves music (and even plays a little guitar) but after almost 30 years of marriage she still couldn't care less about how guitars work.
I can't believe how much of a fan I've become of the offsets. I have been going back a watching your past videos to learn setup. I really wish I could have broken away and got over to Guitar House. I think I would have been Fan Stuck and monopolized your time. It's a beautiful Guitar you've built Mike and I can tell that you and the other's loved it as well. I sure when you get back here again I will make the time to meet you. please keep your videos coming.👍
As an old school weezer fanatic and a lover of 7.25” fender fretboards & sonic blue anything- I know we would be best buds. My first good guitar was 72 Strat refinished in sonic blue with a tort pickguard and I made a lightning strap for it in my H.S. leather shop. I was 17 and Pinkerton was only 3 years old- them were the good ol’ days.
Buddy have you heard of Pat Finnerty? He tells the Weezer story… all our stories
Your luv for the Jag is infectious. I think I'm coming down with a fever for offsets.
Wife guys continue to win
Reminds me of a band back in the day “Buzzy Linto and the God Damned Plasmatics” , whose signature song was a metal version of the Dean Martin classic: “Everybody Lives Somebody Sometime” .
D,awww! That was lovely :)
The clay dots are a fibreboard and when new were white. Something that somewhat resembles micarta.
Behind every great guitar doctor is a great woman! 😊 Your ultimate Jag is fully deserving of all the love it gets. ❤
I recently got a Squier Paranormal Cyclone (the Stangstratjag) and absolutely love it, any plans to review it?
Soooo... DIBS on being the first on the waitlist for a Mike Adams coke bottle sparkle JAGUAR!!!!
Mike Adams, Guitar Dcotor.
hey mike! loved watching this - and the OG review vid - so fun! i'm curious on the subject of ultimate jags, have you talked the johnny marr wiring anywhere? curious if you'd ever choose that?
I haven't done a video on that one, but it's a great guitar! I don't know that I'd choose it in place of a Standard style Jag, but in addition to my others? Absolutely. I need the RC
Great video! Would love to hear more in-depth about how you went about sanding the neck down to your desired profile. I own an AO Jazzmaster which I love, but depending on what I’m doing I find myself fighting with the neck profile thickness from time to time.
I wonder just how fantastic it would be to put a 5” diameter sticker on that guitar with Rita Moreno’s smiling face on it? She’s currently as far as I know still with us and would quite possibly be honored by such a gesture.
Mike: *tapping sparkle jag* "This is the best Jaguar I've ever played".
Han on the couch in the background: "Am I a joke to you?"
This is so wholesome
I’m 6’5 and have comically large hands but love jags. I enjoy it when I feel like I can crush the wood with my bare hands lol
I love this!
I don't think you should have given yours to him. I think someone should start a Kickstarter to fund you building one for him in a gorgeous Coke label red sparkle.
This is such a good idea!
Mike’s craftsmanship is obviously important to this build, but I think even he would agree that part of what makes it magical is an honest-to-goodness OG Fender ‘60s Jag neck, and the play, wear, and love that’s went into it. That’s kind of a rare commodity these days.
@@leamanc I agree for the most part but I think something like a 90s CIJ/MIJ neck and Mike's work on it Jason would be forever in love.
I mean, If Mike would’ve gave it to me, I definitely wouldn’t have said “no”. Lol.
Very sweet video. Charissa's smiles made all the difference! Sounds like you take out the wedding photo album about as often as my wife and I do.
Curious: have you encountered any of the 60th anniversary Jaguars? Referring to the MLPB & MDR models (Not the 25.5" scale monstrosity which might have made some sense as a Jazzmaster on the headstock)
Thanks for the kind words: I haven't encountered any 60ths yet!
im fine with mustang bridges if the radius is right...that being said, I took your advice and put a mastery bridge on my American Ultra JM (mocha burst if you care, lol) and it is amaaaazing
lovely video, cheers
Love this.
Mercedes!!! How are you???
Fun!
I’m 6’2” and I think Jags are fun for crazy chord extensions and stretchy stuff.
I’ve never preordered a guitar, but I probably would for one like that
Lovely! :)
Hope they do come out with a Mike Adams Signature in coke bottle green flake! Or maybe another flake but not coke bottle, so you can have the only one. Maybe cobalt flake for the cobalt on R2D2
Bro... I remember you from a fender how-to video about loaded pickguards
Oh wow that was ages ago
So a curiosity i had regarding potentiometers, have you ever tried the Fender TBX tone pot? from a values standpoint its seems to blend a 250k and a 1M pot, so i wonder if you may like it!
Wait, I'm Jason too. Does that mean Mike is my best friend? Also, I love the coke bottle finish on that Jag. After seeing it on Guitar House, I've been shopping around to find someone local to paint my Fender Mustang the same color.
I’m Mike too- does that mean Jason is MY best friend???😮
@@michaelkemp5408 yep, he is.
At 2:10, or so, Jason mentions that he's not a big Jag fan because of the scale length. If you take a Jag and a Strat, Match the Nut of the Jag with the first fret of the Strat, you'll see that every single fret matches up perfectly. So, playing a Jag is like playing a Strat/Tele/Jazz with a capo on the first fret. Hmmmm... Have a great day!
What do you think of the fender Jaguar ultra luxe ? Are you in San Diego county now I just started watching have binge watched your channel so don’t wanna offend just not caught up lol
Oh hey, sorry I missed your question! I'm in Seattle these days.
Your wife is a good sport. My wife would've been missing from the scene after the first jump cut.
I can’t so much as mention the circle of 5ths without my wife convulsing on the floor…it’s so bad that the paramedics won’t come to my house anymore.
What grit sandpaper did you use to shape the neck profile? And did you spray any nitro or put any tru oil on it after that or just leave it raw? Thanks for this!
Ah, great question. To shape I usually start at 120 up to 220, and on this neck I think I went all the way up to 800 for a smooth feel. Then steel wool, then a few coats of boiled linseed oil, which I then gently knocked back with steel wool again and some Micro Mesh pads for a worn-in feel like my '61
@@Puisheen Thanks Mike!
MY WIIIIIIIIIFE
I love love, and there’s a good deal of it here. Hugs and hairy kisses for you both!!!
FYI for anyone else interested, I reached out to EP Custom Pickups and they said that the standard wind on their site is what Mike has in his Jag. The resistance values listed in the video don't match the EP website.
I have the standard set in there now, but it had a different set of EP pickups when Jason filmed with it at Guitar House
For clarity: both sets are EP Jaguar, it's just that they made a change to that set, so what I'm referring to with the 7.3k bridge is that earlier version, which I swapped out for the revision set after I returned from Guitar House. Everything you've heard since then has been the current version of the Jaguar set
@@Puisheen thanks so much for clarifying!
I ask because I just bought the jag ultra luxe and it’s more a jazz master then a jag kinda I’m dying to get your input I could bring it by for a review it would be an honor just a thought
Would have loved that!
what do you think of the 65 MusicmasterII as an entry vintage guitar? BTW, find some one who looks at you like she does when he talks about Stewmac 148 fret wire.
I love a good Musicmaster. I'm more of a bridge pickup guy so the Bronco I recently worked on is a bit more my speed, same for the Duo-Sonic, but any of 'em are great
I watched the original first -no one noticed (myself included) that the caption refers to Mike as “Guitar Dcotor” 🤦🏻♂️
11s and 12s!??! What!?
Would you use 12s on a Mustang Mike?
Maybe! Mustangs usually feel very different for me simply due to the design of the vibrato and distance from the bridge. 11s do feel great on 'Stangs
Great, thanks for the reply, I do currently use 11s that’s my go to gauge atm, and your right they feel good
Definitely going to try 12’s on a Jag though see how they fair 👍🏼
Love your work Mike, always good to watch your videos 😎 🎸
Gosh, what a pair of wild and wacky redheads! May you be blessed with a pack of red haired progeny. But then it wouldn’t be Guitar House; instead (with a nod to Seattle legend Hendrix), it would be Red House!
I think that’s his wife idk tho bahahah keep up the amazing videos !
Oh you like in Seattle now I feel like a dumas lol
Naw it's all good
