How cam people say "how could Metallica have cliffs tracks so low" ..cliff was in the band and was in complete control of what he was doing , if cliff wanted it louder , it would have been louder , rock in peace cliff
Sorry, but the guys in the band don't have any control over the sound board. The techs behind the scenes mixing the tones in concert or in studio are the ones who play with what we heard. If they were told to tone down the bass by a producer or ( James/Lars ) then that's what happens. Both are fantastic musicians, but they're egomaniacs. They both want their sounds to be heard. I've even heard some live footage where you can barely hear Kirk's guitar playing, even during a Solo. So, take that as you will
@@nobodyimportant69 lol that's in AJFA and the black album, before that everyone respected each other and if James had a big ego at that time then he wouldn't have been searching a singer for the band and feeling insecure of his vocals. And also they listen to the producers mix and they tell them if they like or not, even with Bob Rock, so yes they have some control on the sound
as a bassist, i could always pick out cliff's fills and tone when i first heard this in '85. i always preferred the rickenbacker, too. it has a natural growl and when he ran it through the morley (in spots), it just stood out and was so unique. i can hear a little geezer and geddy in there (two of his favourites). thanks for bringing it out more. cliff was an amazing bassist, but he was on his way to the next level as a writer and arranger as well. i heard this and saw him live when i was 15.
Biggest influence on Cliff's tone was Lemmy. He said that he tried adding distortion / fuzz on bass because he heard Lemmy. Also played chords a lot of time which Lemmy did a lot. The Geezer in his playing is clearly using the Wah Pedal.
Cliff didn't so much play the bass as he did flail it in to submission. His fingers like hammers, pounding, bashing and beating with a masters touch. In other words? He fucking owned that bass and it knew it and had no choice but to bow before a mighty god and scream and growl at his command.
[Verse 1] Life, it seems, will fade away Drifting further every day Getting lost within myself Nothing matters, no one else I have lost the will to live Simply nothing more to give There is nothing more for me Need the end to set me free [Verse 2] Things not what they used to be Missing one inside of me Deathly loss, this can't be real Cannot stand this hell I feel Emptiness is filling me To the point of agony Growing darkness taking dawn I was me, but now he's gone [Bridge] No one but me can save myself, but it's too late Now I can't think... think why I should even try Yesterday seems as though it never existed Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye Goodbye... [Instrumental Outro]
Seriously, how the fuck can people not hear it in this video? They obviously don't understand what a bass sounds like because it's RIGHT THERE. I like it like this: enough to clearly hear it but not competing with or overpowering others. Now if we could just get that bass drum tweaked a bit higher...
That I may not know. I have been a fan and playing metallica on guitar for over a decade. I've listened in the highest fi quality, and had no idea Cliff played all these crazy octave harmonies and walking bass lines. I've been listening to every met song online with enhanced bass. Way better. I'm sure the death of cliff was no accident, like randy, kurt, etc.... Google illuminati sacrifices. What adds credence to the thought is metallica went from just the metal scene to gods after that, As they all do.
The enhanced bass versions truely kick ass, in my opinion, more than the original. I know about the staged "accidents" (M. Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Falco, ...) It's pretty grim. All the best!
I never really heard the bass in the album version ((duh)) and didn't know how crazy it was until I played it on Guitar Hero: Metallica, which is different from just listening. Listening to this today for the first time with enhanced Cliff, it's like I can feel his soul coming through the speakers. Thank you for uploading \m/
Back in the mid-1980s, the late-night DJs on 99.5 KISS (San Antonio, TX) would occasionally play an enhanced-bass version of Fade To Black. I always preferred this version over the album version.
if you guys want to hear this louder, then just watch the cliff em all where cliff burton plays this live. the live version is so much better and cliff does amazing fills, far superior than the album version.

unlike Newstead Burton used a wah-wah pedal chorus flanger and fuzz distortion on basses with deep end bass. Jason used 5 strings basses with digital effects looping and a built in wah while playing basses with high clean. Jason used a pick where Cliff played by hand
Jason's basslines were better for Larsehole. Always kept him in time, made the rythm section solid as a rock. Cliff was amazing as a bassist, if only he had a better drummer it would be the best
I can hear the bass more than fine man. I have a 1987 JVC surround sound system running a signal boost off a sanyo surround sound. The Sanyo subwoofer is 150 watts. that plus the rest of the speakers is 700 watts and i only have two speakers on the JVC. Good job on the enhancement bro! @maksphoto78
@Ltndoom Watch this: /watch?v=y90Ir8-VOWE and perhas you'll be able to hear the bass better. Like I said in the video description, it's only slightly louder than the original. But I definitely can hear it here.
I think Warner Bros through Metallicas current self label Blackened need to go Audacity themselves and bring all three first albums up to 21st Century Metal Standards with heavy enhanced bass just a notch or two beyond Lead Guitar Level which yes it will over power the lead and rhythm guitar work but atleast Cliff's finger picking and thumping will be heard clearly also Lars's Drum Kit needs heavy pronounced bringing forward and enhancement.
Adrian Everett sadly James said altering the albums would be like changing history, even the bass on ajfa and the snare on st.anger won't be remastered because james thinks it makes them unique and that shouldn't change

Thanks guys, very much appreciated! Lots more bass-enhanced Metallica videos on my channel!
@@declansheppard705 hell ye it is. i cant listen to the original now lol
Literally I had to delete the originals from my playlists 😂

Fade to black=Better than any music played today. Fuck Rap and Pop those genres can just go away lol.
iam with you
[Verse 1]
Life, it seems, will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters, no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
[Verse 2]
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly loss, this can't be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he's gone
[Bridge]
No one but me can save myself, but it's too late
Now I can't think... think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye
Goodbye...

Hearing this bass track after reading (most of) Cliff's biography makes me realize what a great musician he truly was.
Rest in piece, Cliff Burton 🙏

They own deadass headphones thats why
Metallica could have easily let this be the original Version. Does anybody know why the bass guitar is so turned down generally? It's a pity!

Hi! I was talking about the early albums with Cliff

Cliff gave Kirk his first wah pedal
GrayWoIf besides the fact that he was dead for five years at that point. He had started the Kirk wahmett on the black album.

IS Cliff using some kind of distortion on the bass? This doesn't seem clean to me.
No distortion, but Cliff's bass has always been growly.
Tks :)
Viktor Moura there's no nothing. The bass isn't even plugged. The thing is, Cliff is the one playing.
+maksphoto78 Yes there is distortion. Overdrive, actually. Bass(Rickenbacker) -> Compressor -> Morley PWF/PWB -> Ibanez Tubescreamer -> Bass Amp
A little overdrive
Dude the bass is fine great job. Love it
I can hear bass clearly, thanks man :) Great song by the way, Metallica live forever!
3:52 BANG!!!! *accidentally brakes guitar with hand*
what
i agree metalmilitia515 . just another example of the true talent cliff had.he was not selfish. he saw the music as awhole and not for ones ego!!!!!
Vine aquí porque no pude escuchar el bajo de Cliff en los albumes. Mil veces mejor que el original.

@Ltndoom it could be your speakers because i can hear it just fine
@psichomosaicpokesim Maybe your computer speakers don't give enough bass. Try listening to this through the headphones.
I hear it fine im able to play it through my trucks system and its pretty hard hitting
@Ltndoom Watch this: /watch?v=y90Ir8-VOWE and perhas you'll be able to hear the bass better. Like I said in the video description, it's only slightly louder than the original. But I definitely can hear it here.
Does the rickenbacker usually have the roary sound?
Yes, Rickenbacker basses have a trademark "growly" sound.
@@maksphoto78 cliffs rickenbacker was modified he removed the stock pickups
On this album, though, Cliff used an Aria bass. But it still has a growly sound. Morley power fuzz wha pedal.
i thought it was MOP on which he really started to use the Aria

METALLICA
who doesn't love metallica? but come on, why turn down the bass to 2 and the guitars to 9?
Because of Hetfield's and Kirk's egos, I guess.
Dude the bass is def turned up. I also play bass if that even matters. It is def more prominent.
What enhance bass for fade to black?
Chris Cox where they make the bass guitar louder
@Ltndoom dude u need to get your hears checked.
