  • This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Growing up with dyslexia, Joe was forced to ask others how words were spelled. This small and humbling act quieted the pride that many of us have in revealing our lack of knowledge about something we wish to understand. So, from the spelling of words to contextualizing abstract concepts, Joe discovered that learning doesn't come from simply knowing the right answers, but from asking thoughtful questions.
Joe isn't your average 21 year-old. At age 19, he started a t-shirt company that supported local artists and organizations (TAG). A few months later he and a few friends decided that the Alleys of Fargo, ND would be perfect places to host the city's most creative people for day-long festivals; so they started Alley Fair. At 20, he caught wind of a new type of higher education program looking for its founding class. Even though he didn't meet the age requirements, he sent his application and was accepted. Joe and his classmates have been pioneering a new type of school rooted in real world experiences. Throughout the past year, he has established three different apprenticeships with incredible people around the country: Redmoon, a spectacle theatre company in Chicago, SapientNitro, a leading digital agency in LA, and top-ten architecture firm, NBBJ in Seattle.Joe is focused on bringing people together to solve problems, and is doing whatever it takes to learn how to do that with the best and brightest, all while sharing the journey along the way.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Am I the only one that found no actionable steps to take from this video? That is, aside from "ask questions"?
