Thanks Dan! I first replaced the overload because that was rattling but it didn't work. Got a new relay and now it works. I wouldn't have fixed it without your help so thank you very much!!
You're in the right area. That black plastic cover unscrews and then the relay and overload are under there. Remove the wire leads from them and then pull the relay straight away from the compressor. It takes a bit of force to get it off. Good luck!
Ok so feel the need to add fresh material. I too had my Vinotemp VT60 stop working. Temp rose to 70 degrees from 54. Fan would run and heard clicking every few minutes. So unplug it and removed back cover panel . Found the compressor and the black plastic cover that was attached to it. Removed the screw and took housing off . The start relay was on top. Slipped a long standard screw driver behind it and gently pulled it away from the compressor. Noted the spring clamp that held the cover on it and removed it with pocket knife. Inside was the disk which was size of quarter . One side scorched so flipped it around and plugged it back in. Fridge started working right away and dropped temperature from 70 to 54 in 5 minutes. Jumped online to Amazon and found part - LG electronics 6748C-0003D dehumidifier Start relay. Cost 11.93 with free shipping. In the interest that this part gets a lot of current thru it I bought it so will have peace of mind.. Will come in 6 days and will have my wine fridge back running again ! Hope this helps- hate throwing away something that works with a little help. Cudos to all you self fixers ! You helped me figure out what I needed to fix !
Dude! Many kudos. The troubleshooting guide from vinotenp checked everything except this relay. Thank you for saving me a service call. Fridge is running again and new part ordered.
[continued from previous post] "... I dont remember if it was clicking or not. i wouldnt think the starter comes into play until after the compressor has been running. still need to make sure power is making it past these 2 items" This is from the Slickdeals post linked in the video description.
I flipped the ceramic disk inside the relay and my unit is working again. I'll likely get a new one anyway. Its a good way to test if the relay is related
I have the VT60 which also makes that clicking noise. Sounds like it's coming from the front of the unit, rather than the back. I'd love to see a video, or have some illustrated instructions to follow what you did. I'm so electronically challenged! Thanks.
i see the part number you put down for the relay/starter, but what is the rest of the number. thank you in advance for your help. great video by the way, very helpful.
update I just fixed mines it was a bad overload protector. I bypass the overload proctector and plug it in and bam its cooling. down to 60 in and steadily droping fast. now I just have to order a new overload protector for it. to test and by pass make sure your relay is good. then remover the overload protector (314TFBYY Google) now take the wire from it and plug it into the pin on the compressor. plug the relay back in and plug the wire back in. now plug it in to the wall..
I haven't done anything yet to fix my fridge. I've been lazy! I did get get a response from a post on a forum: "see if you can get voltage after the overload protector. you could jump the compressor bypassing the protector for a test. the last small frig i looked at had a bad protector. i took it apart and found a small quarter size disk about 1/8 thick that was rusted and wouldnt make the connection to send power on to the compressor....(to be continued in next post)
Do you know the part # of the relay and where did you purchase it? I looked on the Vinotemp website but didn't see it in the replacement parts section. That's great that you got your fridge working again!
I figured out the problem with my fridge, the compressor relay was blown causing it to make clicking noises every few minutes. It's a $2 to $10 part. If you order a relay, make sure you get one with the correct number of tabs.

Thanks for the video! I picked one of these up for free on CL and about $30 later, I had a great working fridge for my beer!

That's great that you were able to fix it!
Did you ever figure out your problem? My Vinotemp fridge started doing the same thing. Compressor went out maybe?

@Dennis, I don't remember. It's been a few years.
is there a video online somewhere (I can't find one) that shows how to do this? I'm definitely electronically challenged!
I have the same fridge and it wont get cold. was wondering if it need freon. can you email me the link to get the parts and show where the relay is.
